There are rumors that what they cut is basically just a lot of romance scenes which makes sense because what else would they cut from a contemporary sports romance, which worries me because they usually don't cut things from these types of shows but lately they've been doing it a lot and this might be our new normal. Romance dramas without any romance. https://twitter.com/TeaServingCake/status/1618876335060819968

Yes, I keep coming back, anything similar you can recommend? T^T
Yanxi palace was great, in the same vein the story of ming lan has an amazing heroine, she's the only who's as smart as Ying luo in all the dramas I've seen and it has a good love story even though it develops slowly. It's just generally very well written and very intelligent in a way very very few chinese dramas are.

Queen inhyun's man is great but it's not fully a historical, queen for seven days is also good but is much more tragic. I don't know if you watch chinese dramas but in terms of a costume show with a great love story, although it has fantasy elements, love between fairy and devil has one of the only couples that can be considered on the same level as Se ryung and Seung yoo.

So in order to get it releases they basically cut anything that might have prevented the drama from passing the…
What I don't get is why they wanted them to cut so much because from the bts floating around, nothing they showed was more explicit then what we usually get? Most of it is just normal kisses we've seen countless times in costume dramas.

If the insane amount of romantic scenes and kisses cut from this drama is a sign of what's to come in terms of censorship then it's gonna be so bad for us lmao. Can you imagine every single romance drama (which makes up more than 80% of chinese shows) butchered like this? We won't be able to enjoy anything in peace.

Losing only one episode is a great thing, the majority of dramas lose a lot more. Just recently shining just for you had 11 eps out of 36 cut and the entire thing became an intelligible mess, unchained love had so many crucial romantic scenes removed. Now all we can do is hope the writing is good.

It seems like it’s a light comedy so I don’t know how well the character will compare to those two because…
Oh that sucks, these constant crazy bans are ruining so many good shows, like holy sh*t soon there won't be anything they haven't banned and cdramas will just be static on a screen and from what I've heard the chinese industry gives almost no importance to the writers instead it's a constant weird battle of actor popularity when writing is the biggest reason a drama is good or bad, maybe that's the reason most cdramas are frankly hot garbage, the best thing to do is have zero expectations for anything. Because the hoops a cdrama has to jump through from storylines they can't touch, to things that get cut, to people adding and cutting screentime based on popularity and a 100 other things it's a miracle there are a few decent dramas every year, and the bans seem to be getting more severe, hopefully there will come a time when they will stop this mess and let them reach their full potential.

lmao I mean yanxi palace and ming lan had most of those I think ( right down to the infanticide) so hopefully they'll still be able to tell a good story. We know from experience that trailers can be very deceiving and cdramas usually start very light and then turn into heartbreak. I just miss very smart female leads that are actually shown to be smart ( and not them telling us she's smart 50 times but then she acts stupid), ming lan and ying luo kind of set my standards way too high because they were insanely clever and leagues above almost anyone and it showed in the schemes they came up with and the way they got out of difficult situations. There are so many dramas that are like smart female lead and i'm like where?

Oh that's interesting to know. Why wouldn't they make it into the show, do they concern something that might get censored?

Great writer, great director and great cast. There is zero reason for this to be less than stellar. Also a romance with a woman who's almost 50? I love that for us.

I have been noticing and hearing, they seem to be doing that more frequently lately. I watched the modern drama…
This is very concerning and I don't understand why? What do they think this is accomplishing exactly? They usually don't do much to modern dramas. Romance makes up more than 80% of their shows, if they plan on removing it from the final product they should just stop making things altogether.

Gotta love chinese censorship, not only do they butcher entire storylines and shows but they also cut multiple important romantic scenes that establish the main relationship in a drama whose entire point is to tell a love story...

I think it'll probably be like You Are My Glory
I would love it if that were the case, that drama had a lot of focus on the male lead's job (ie propaganda for the chinese space program) but it also gave a lot of importance to the love story and the female lead.

There's something to be said about the way people are reacting to the FL's arrogance, whether it's the characters in the drama or the fandom. How many arrogant male leads have we had in chinese and korean dramas, how many "geniuses" have we watched who were very talented exactly like she is but so much more full of themselves. She doesn't even register at 30% on the scale of your average typical conceited male lead, except she seems much more hardworking, likely faced discrimination every step of the way and isn't working as the ceo in daddy's company like most of them. And yet the reaction to her is so overblown when we don't even bat an eye at much worse behavior displayed by many many male leads.

The male lead is the one who needs a reality check, of course she still has a lot to learn but the way he's treating her is completely affected by what happened to his girlfriend and he's being unfair and biased and he doesn't even realize it. Also unfortunately the sh*t she goes through is very much the reality, sometimes it's even worse for women, not only in China but also the supposedly "forward" ones like the US where misogyny, harrassement, the wage gap and discrimination of all kinds are still very much rampant.

Genius female lead? I did a double take when I read that, usually the word genius is followed by man 99.99% of the time in drama synopses. Fingers crossed she's another Ming lan orYing luo .
