๐Ÿคฃ Thanks. Maybe they wanted to portray the stark contrast between the life-altering events for an individual and their insignificance to an emperor who killed so many in his pursuit of power that he can't even remember who they were. The emperor's monologue about how only he can judge or punish himself was supposed to underline how omnipotent he feels. However, the execution fell short, failing to effectively convey this theme. Additionally, as a drama, audiences expect significant plot points to reach a climactic moment and resolution, yet this expectation was never met

This drama is about Amai joining the army in her quest for revenge isn't it? Suddenly it's about the ML's journey…
I thought that maybe she wouldn't seek revenge in the way she had always imagined, and that it would perhaps be more about the nature of truth, illustrating that it is seldom purely black or white, and that there is often more beneath the surface (there was nothing). Or perhaps an examination of how the pursuit of revenge might inadvertently harm innocent people, delving into the profound implications of hatred. However, what we received was... nothing? ๐Ÿฅฒ

Here you go ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซฃ: In the nascent Southern Xia dynasty, Shang Yi Zhi, a disguised prince, forsakes his identity to live as a seemingly naive nobleman, navigating the path to emperorship through the use of others' ingenuity and talents. He crosses paths with A Mai, a vengeful daughter of the Duke of Jingguo, who, after witnessing her family's murder by her childhood friend Chen Qi, disguises herself as a man to seek retribution. Their fates intertwine when A Mai rescues and aids Shang Yi Zhi multiple times, embroiling them in the tumults of war. As A Mai enlists as an infantry soldier, showcasing remarkable military acumen, she supports Shang Yi Zhi against adversaries and plays a pivotal role in his quest for the throne, even against the formidable Beimo army, prioritizing his rise to power amidst her personal vendetta. During their journey, they encounter individuals who serve to propel the narrative forward, who die, appear out of nowehere or are forgotten...

If she leaves i wouldn't mind a season 2 made only about her. She had a lot of potential as a character but unfortunately his story became her story and she is relagated in the background of the palace power struggle. I feel her character didn't have anytime to shine as every moment was cut short.

They made a female oriented story in to something else. They are only male directors and scriptwriters. They even…
What I don't understand is if the original novel writer had any say in this? They completely altered her story, not small parts, but almost all of it. It was supposed to be Amai's journey, but she is here just a political/military asset and a love interest. And as a love interest, she doesn't even seem in love; they literally have to cue us with background music to make us understand something is supposed to be romantic. Like in not-so-funny sitcoms when they put the laughing audio at the "funny" scenes. I understand some things need to be changed to be adapted to a drama, but write it better, make it make sense ๐Ÿฅฒ

I think our biggest problem is that this was what we expected from the drama, through no fault of our own, as that is how the drama was promoted to us as a public. So, the expectations were not met on many fronts. But at least we got to discover the novel (thank youuuu). The OST is amazing, the FL actress is quite good, and even the rest of the cast is doing a good job with what they have. I'm not too sure about the ML actor, as even in the serious parts, he does this weird squinting with his eyes, but maybe it is just the character, so I can't really judge him. Anyway, overall, it is still a watchable show if they manage to wrap it up nicely, as for now it is still a complete mess.

Sigh so disappointing. I'll probably do a lot of fast-forwarding. I don't want to see A Mai deal with palace drama....…
Women fighting over a man... makes me puke. I know FL is not doing it because of that, but still when i started this show i wasnt expecting to have to watch this. I need to be prapered mentally for the harem dramas and hope it wont last too long and why oh why the Empress had to be so pathetic. At least Amai is not a pushover

That's why I am puzzling myself - why oh why they couldn't follow up the story? Make minor changes when its necessary…
Perhaps the writers identify with the ML and wanted to feel fulfilled through him, or they thought he was funny enough to be liked by people as the sweet guy next door. The Rise of a Normal Guy (even if he is a nepo baby). Who knows, I don't have any logical explanation, especially for his lack of any character growth throughout the drama.

I agree. I suppose he will understand in the end because he is the male lead, but I wish she would realize that he is not the person she thought he was and will leave him. Unfortunately, there is no way something like that will ever happen, as for some reason he is always excused as a good guy who is a victim of circumstances. So I guess he will set her free, and she will leave heartbroken but free. The end. ๐Ÿ˜…

I wanted the express because I'm now so curious if they are going to stay in the palace until the very end, and if they are just going to wrap up the Beimo problem just in the background. ๐Ÿฅฒ I hope not; it is messy as it is, but they do have some time to make it fairly right... even if it will never recover from this disaster. I just can't understand how they missed the opportunity of having both palace drama and war drama by separating the leads for a few episodes! It would have given them character development, especially for the ML. ๐Ÿฅฒ They could have made him likable and able to solve things by himself and maybe gain a point with the audience.

It wasn't even about shipping here. By the way, in Lost You Forever, the female lead ends up with the right person for her, despite who the fans prefer. And while watching, you can understand why she loves that person and why she'll choose that person based on what she wants for herself and her life. There are things I didn't like there (like her not having her powers back) or just the concept of a reverse harem, but regardless of any preference from anybody, I really get why she would choose one guy in particular by looking at that from her point of view, not mine. I know the show is not over, but based on the novel. While here... I really don't get the mental gymnastics she went through to fall for the ML... the only explanation is that she is lonely, insecure, and fell for the first guy who was nice to her. Unfortunately, that is how I see it because the writers feel like the type of men who want everything handed to them on a silver platter; they want the FL to fall for ML, so she just does with no build-up. It just seems like something a man would write. Maybe I'm wrong, but it is my personal opinion.

If you start watching the show knowing that it isn't what they said it was in the synopsis, trailer, and promos, I think the show is still good in a way. They could change both the Chinese and English titles as they have nothing to do with the show and are misleading. It also has almost nothing to do with the novel it is based on either. And the ending OST is truly amazing. I like the opening too, but the ending is just chef's kiss ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿคฃ I don't regret watching it and I liked the people in this comment section. Even when we didn't agree with each other, nobody was really disrespectful, and it was a nice change. The drama will get an extra point for me for that ๐Ÿ˜†

Whatever would be better than what we got in the last third of this show. In general, it was a long journey of an average guy with no character development whom everybody praised throughout the episodes while he literally never did anything. His only accomplishment was being born into the royal family. Until now, I still don't understand when people in the drama talk about his wonderful heart and amazing potential as an Emperor... I mean, yes, the bar is low after the last emperor, but still... he is not a good guy; clueless and indecisive people like him are dangerous in a similar way as a villain is. They don't make tough decisions and leave them to others; they use people around them all the time and are always victims of circumstances. I wouldn't mind it this much if the drama itself weren't trying to make us accept that he is good and amazing. I dont mind watching grey characters, or full villians, or even opportunistic people like ML but only if the drama itself is aware of what a character is. They can have theor happy ending because people like them get the happy ending in real life but dont put funny or romantic music in the background to point out how innocent he is. Like really? If you didn't give him any character development in 30 episodes he is a negative character in my books. And a lot of people here were still fine with all of this because they still enjoyed the story, but no... it wasnt enough, they had to make everything about him even in the last episodes, to the point that sometimes in the palace i was forgetting about Amai existence ๐Ÿฅฒ I was watching the show with a ML i didnt like from the beginning but you cant like everybody so whatever. Than i had to stomach a badly written romance, and as well i just ignored it as the rest was good. Than the revenge plot just fell apart and the resolution was flat. If they wanted to convey how revenge can be pointless and nothing is black or white.... well, it didnt come through to me. It seemed just like a quick wrap up so we can go back to the future Emperor storyline. And to finish... after all the time in the palace... we are still in the palace?!?!?!

Even the original Chinese title doesn't really go with the drama, especially in the second part.
There were many things that did not make sense in the Palace. First of all, the crown prince and princess committed suicide and left their child exposed to danger... especially considering that the emperor was old and sick. It was also convenient that the grand prince/second prince became overly stupid, making everything easier for the ML

Why this drama named as fighting for love when main storyline is about war and revenge. No one fights for love.
