Interesting, and so much better than in the drama, to be honest.

It would made more sense if he was murdered or died while rescuing his son

True, but here they want us to accept him as a kindhearted, goofy guy, which he is not. That's what bothers me the most from the beginning. He might not be intelligent, but he is an opportunist

And he knows the toll of what happened to her and her trauma, and instead of talking to her and discovering the truth together, regardless of whether she will stay with him or not, he chooses to self-cater to his own needs

As I said somewhere before, they could have separated the main characters. They could have made him go to the palace and solve the problems by himself. That would have helped his character development. She could have stayed in the military to fight against Beimo for a few episodes. But no, she needs to be everywhere to hold his hand because he can't do anything by himself

He was always very self-centered from the get-go, all well-packed in his comic relief persona that doesn't make me laugh personally. But he was there to stay, unfortunately for us, and the writers just didn't bother to do anything to make him better, ever

What happened to the crown prince, what a plot twist.
I think they should have separated the leads for a few episodes; him going to solve the palace intrigue and her staying in the army to solve the Beimo issue. But they missed the perfect opportunity for the ml's growth as a character and keeping the fl more central to the plot. Regardless, episode 26 was a good episode.

cant stand male lead now !!!!!!!he is too much !!!! now i have one more reason to hate himmmmmmm
The writers are continually holding him in the same place with no character development and adding just more things to make us dislike him ๐Ÿ˜ก Not sure if the writers really like him or really hate him at this point ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm really bothered by the Crown Prince's death. He was the only one in this 'Game of Thrones' who made me think: ah, he had the nature of an Emperor. The reason why he dies doesn't make any sense at all, except for taking him out of the equation for the ML to become emperor. ๐Ÿ™„ Anyway, the ML surfs through life; all tough decisions are taken by others, all plans and victories are made by others. Even the Emperor will move from his way just for him by getting sick or dying straight away. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ For everything else, there is Amai, every counselor or general he meets, Beimo is just idling while all this happens, and if there is a need for super questionable stuff, his mother is there too. ๐Ÿ™„ The ML's only decision-making is to go left or right; there is nothing else. Why did they write him like this? ๐Ÿค”

He was never really in the show to begin with, can't believe they didn't take him out of the posters and promos, like this people had expectations for his character that was almost never to be seen in the show ๐Ÿ˜’ Feel bad for the actor

I feel bad for him too. Might as well call him a minor supporting character with how little screen time he gets.…
He never did anything on his own. He's only a general (and then an emperor, I suppose) because he was born into it. He never had an original idea in his life; it was always someone else's. Even when something shady goes down, he's like, "I don't like it," but then he takes credit for it anyway. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Don't get me started on him being a love interest; he is the kind of man I hate in real life. But that wasn't enough for the writers; they had to make it worse. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿฅฒ The only positive thing he has going for him is the fact that the FL likes him for whatever reason. Right now, it got to the point that I really can't stand him on screen anymore with that annoying background "funny music" that always appears to tell us he is being so comical when he is not ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I know ๐Ÿซค Instead of being portrayed as an extraordinary military strategist (as it was supposed to be according to the synopsis, the trailer, and the novel), she is now relegated to the role of the male lead's love interest and sidekick. And he never accomplishes anything by himself ๐Ÿ˜’

I just watched episode 25.Shang Yi Zhi finds out his father was responsible for the killing of A Mai's family…
I never really liked him, but I thought he would eventually grow up and become a better person before becoming Emperor. Amai would not marry him because she wants to be free, and they would go their separate ways. But no, they had to add the star-crossed lovers trope. Instead of being honest with her, he is keeping such important information from her. I do not like the guy, but why did they have to make it worse??? There was no need to do this to split them up as they would have separated regardless

even his bodyguard is so much interesting than him
So far, his only accomplishment seems to be his birthright, which has granted him the general position (and presumably the emperor's position). All the plotting, planning, and fighting have been carried out by others, and he has reaped the benefits. As of episode 24, I have not yet observed any significant actions taken by him independently. He is a good person at heart, but that doesn't make him a good leader. He is just lucky to have great people around him, especially Amai. For some reason, the writers think we can't have two great leads, and normally they make the female lead childish. This time it is the male lead. I don't care about the gender; I don't like infantilized leads, especially in stories that are not full comedies.
