Essentially, she went against the principles of every single decent mother on Earth. Exactly!! Whether or not the thing w LBY goes through, CSS will prob always be scarred by what her birth mother did. There’s zero reason why she couldn’t have handled things differently. She slashed her own daughters chances of any good prospective marriage to anyone and she will never be able to hold her head up against those bickering royal ladies again.

Mom basically belittles her daughter likes she’s nothing in the presence of the King, Queen, and the Royal Family - along with all the bickering princesses & royal ladies who are always giving her a hard time. Her words were really painful and we’re prob the harshest since the start of the drama and in the front of the worst audience possible.

I feel she did "love" him in the context that she understands love at this point in time. It might not be that mature kind of love we viewers have come to know in dramas and what lies ahead for her. But I think her "love" for him is true and she truly wants the best for him.

It's def an unfortunate situation. I think it would not have been the path LY or HZJ chose for themselves if all things were equal. But I felt in ep 21 he made peace with the situation and he genuinely understood. It didn't hurt that our CSS was able to talk him through it. I think in this situation CSS was wise beyond her years and was able to help him maturely look ahead.

I really like how the relationship between the Empress and Concubine seems peaceful. Most dramas have the King's leading ladies fighting amongst themselves.

I loved that transition. Ep. 21 the dialogue between LY and CSS was really mature and I finished the scene feeling content.

I'm so loving this drama thus far. It is one of the few dramas as of late which I really felt they paid attention to so many small details, have the perfect actors/actresses casted for their roles, and have a perfect balance of comedy and seriousness.
I dig the little details that just make the episodes pop. Ep 13- when the Emperor intentionally talks about CSS so LBY can hear and the camera shows LBY rising up in the bed like zombie coming back to life in a horror movie lol. EP 15- Poor LY getting tested on his studies and finding none of the questions have anything at all to do with scholarly stuff hehe....

What is the difference in status between LBY and CSS’ dad? I know they are both generals but one seems much more powerful.

Is part 2 expected to air right after part 1?

Their matchup is my least favorite out of the three males, yet, I think they do have potential. Both characters are still exceptionally young- both in age and in dating experience. He would support her and she would support him in different ways now and in the drama future. They might even complement each other. The only difference is that she is the stronger personality of the two. CSS gives no impression of being unreasonable. Having one individual in a relationship who wears the pants the majority of the time doesn’t necessarily equate to a bad thing.
Their personalities are shaped by their current environment. That changes in time. In time, I think the two of them would have found that balance.

I think the challenging part about LYs fam is though he would cater to her the status he holds in the family is too low. He wouldn’t be able to stand up to the Main Wife, I don’t know if the main wife has sons either.
CSS’s dad is the eldest son of the main wife in his family (I think) so when he wants and push comes to shove he can defend his wife against his own mom. CSS wouldn’t have such luxury.

I think LY and CSS are actually a really sweet couple. It would be a slow burning romance but in real life it could work. One would wear the pants and the other would let her wear the pants lol. Not what I describe as a mad passionate love but a super cute one nonetheless. I suppose outside of dramaland, how many of us truly meet that all encompassing burn the Earth to the ground kind of mad love and have it be a healthy relationship too? Luckily, our girl, CSS will find it.

I also think LY’s original fiancée really did like him. She’s just too bratty and can’t over herself. Her immaturity and lack of love experience (on both their parts) caused her to act out and treat him as poorly as she did. With some character growth, I think they would have made a cute couple as well.

I'll see you all in the comments of the next drama. I gotta check out of this drama because of the FL. I adore the ML as an actor and feel his character if well written. However, the FL's character is supposed to be multi-faceted and full of layers - I don't see it portrayed through this actress. I've seen approximately two emotions from her if you eliminate the bland zero expression one. The FL's character is also just toxic. Forget love in the flames of war, if I was the ML's therapist I would advise him to get as far away from these flames as quickly as possible.
