Ep4, Convo between qingtian and chang yang.

Qingtian:- what happened between you and my brother last night.
Chang yang- he asked me if I like men.
Qingtian:- and the truth is?
Chang yang:- doesn't matter
Qingtian:- my brother don't like vague answers.
Chang yang:- but it really isn't imp.
It's like these tea plants. The experts come, measure how many meters the roots go deep into the ground, collect a bunch of data, but at the end isn't it all judged by whether the tea is good?

Again. It's tea plants. Qing lang doesn't like vague ans as he has already experienced uncertainty with shi yuhao. He wants and seeks certainty to avoid repeating same mistake. But what chang yang is saying is diff. He is saying by giving tea plants eg that it doesnt matter. Tea experts come and see how old tea plant is, how deeply rooted it is. But at the end it's the drinker of that tea who sees whether to him/ her it tastes good or not. Rest it doesn't matter.

Basically he is saying, it doesn't matter whether i like men or not. Whether I am gay or not. Labels and data doesn't matter. What really matters is what I feel towards him. Are we happy with each other? Feelings matter not labels.

While writing this it suddenly clicked me that how deep it's talking about. Chang yang is also ig imo saying that qing lang matters. It's him that matters. It's with him the feelings happen. It's not because he is man or not. It's not because he is gay or not. It doesn't matter to him.It's like " l feel something for this person. Why do I have to solve the question of what that makes me before acknowledging the feeling?" To him this whole label itself doesn't define what he feels for him. Kind of saying his roots like tea plants run deep. How to measure that? He don't love qing lang as a man, he love qing lang as a soul. Kind of phrase " if I was an insect would u still love me?" Because to him, this love has reached to the level of soul lovers. It's beyond that human or physical form. That's why his feeling is hard to put label on.

Then qingtian said:- be practical. One kilo, ton etc no matter the amount of tea it has to be picked leaf by leaf. A lot of things that are set on stone can be change one at a time.

Qingtian is saying chang yang to take and resolve one issue or emotion one by one. One cannot rush to pick all the tea leaves just randomly. It has to be picked leaf by leaf carefully to not harm it's leaf and quality. U try to fasten and pick lots of leaf at one go and tea leaves itself will get compromised. Like don't try to rush and resolve all your emotions at one go. Think carefully one issue or emotion and try to resolve it one by one. Regardless of how enormous something becomes one still have to deal with it incrementally.

That's how I feel about this Convo. But i can be wrong as this is my interpretation. Qing tian is only 21 yet he is so mature. He understands the depth of the issue and even give advice accordingly.

More than that. I think the speciality of auau ( atleast from what i have seen in DMD Friendship) is that he is challenging in nature. Wanting to win but yet striving to improve. The song performance from him in DMD was proof. Let's see in fanboy. His acting. In My Sky they didn't had much screen time. U can say this is their first proper drama. So it come down to the fact that how much good of the actor they are.

Ig it's because of the fact that bromance meaning has changed over days. Plus earlier were the days when "school 2013" was made and nobody ever said about queerbaiting. Everyone just understood that it's about friendship.

It all comes down to the fact that how it has been marketed. From premise it looks a friendship story. So let's stick to that. Synopsis looks interesting.

I am genuinely hoping this will be a drama where Song Kang has diff role. I don't want to see him like in 'my demon' and ' nevertheless'. So this project seems like a breath of fresh air to me. 🤞

Obviously. No. I never said Korea has not good actors. Trust me they have. Some performances remain in my heart even after years. But now I don't feel acting invoking the same level of emotions. That's it.

Not every drama has to be masterpiece but the issue is that i don't see any watchable dramas now.( As per me my preference) For others it can be diff.

Because since when art has became the form of objective feeling? Art itself is a subjective in discipline. It is never supposed to be felt in one way. Its like an abstract art one find something diff there. One can like or not like it. Take a matter and u have diff opinions. Art has never known boundaries. So when someone says that ok I am only allowed to feel this way. Or if we are not feeling the same like others then it's u problem. But isn't art itself a subjective matter?

So i don't mind if someone has diff opinions than me...but generalising is what I am strictly against. We can watch same drama and still feel diff about it.

And i am not at all denying that people don't watch for handsomeness and NC scenes. I mean PoJ is walking proof( it got famous only for beauty as per me). Just generalisation is again I will be careful about.

I am not chinese. So i will not claim that i know exactly. But throughout my cdrama watch journey since 2023 i have never for once seen or heard anyone using "ai nin" to define romantic relationship or confession. It's always " ai ni"( ai= love ni= you) so love you. Or wo xi huan ni ( wo= i xihuan= like ni= u) so ' i like u' here 'u' is like casual/ informal in sense.

"ai nin" it also translates as love you. But 'you' here is in respectful or formal tone. It's more often used for elders or in politeness. Like in familial ties, or parental love. Where respect is required in sense and tone.

Idk exact reasons i asked the same ques then a person thinking about volunteering to sub for viki told me that viki often gets episodes after releasing in most cases. It delays them. Plus viki has to work on subs. Their subs is the strongest point. Even Mango tv( worst) and Netflix subscription fails before viki for me...

It's in viki. But not yet released. And I am not complaining. As i will wait for viki subs even if it delays by days because of subs.

Actually the fact that most of the dramas we are able to predict..means kdrama makers are still relying on old tropes. There are improvements like " we all are trying here" but still those are not for all type of audience.

I think that kdrama makers think what worked earlier internationally during Covid times will also work now. The very fluffy feeling and treating like princess. Well done adapt it well. Some don't. Also second male lead trope is so seo jun coded in kdrama fanbase that everyone is trying to replicate the vibes. It's like they are not ready to look past and work on better stories as they are not realising international fanbase don't want the same old tropes. They want diff that captivate their attention yet have emotional depth yet a story that's new and fresh but still grounded.

Plus idk how korea looks like. Most of the stories are dealing with glamour, city life and love. Everyone is just too perfect. It's like it's getting hard to connect with characters. They are characters but they don't involve emotions within u. I had high expectations from Spooky in Love. But it was such a let down for me. Neither i felt romance nor spookiness.

I am crossing fingers with this one..i badly want to watch this drama. Hope it dont fail me. Because I am committing to watch this drama till the end unless it becomes unwatchable for me...as these days. Completing a kdrama has become a task. ( For me).

Also idk why just why. People look pretty but I don't feel emotions with their acting. Maybe it's just me problem or maybe I want everyone to be song hye kyo.

Idk from where this idea comes to the people that one watches any drama because of handsomeness and NC scene. Tbh i am tired of hearing this. Especially in this drama, why would one watch for habdsomness? There are no close up shots as well. Every camera angle adds to the characters depth. Plus what this kiss and all about? The basic idea is emotional intimacy and not physical intimacy.

I mean i will not deny nobody watchs for this. But not all. Generalising is something i don't understand.

Ep4, 4 min in and again this drama is doing its work. Qing lang pain idk why along with him I am also aching. Why? Let's look into the Convo first then understand the depth

Qinglang- was I too much?
Lan jie( sister)-when drunk? Yes
Qing lang- But when I don't get response, I tend to act like this.
Lan jie- another shi yuhao
Qing lang- It's different. He doesn't run away. He just doesn't need me.
Lan jie- liking someone isn't about making them need you. Let liking just be liking. Don't turn it into a need.

Then qing lang still being hurt, eyes simmering with tears yet not escaping from it. In pain. He clicks his selfie. And post in media. 让喜欢成为喜欢( Let liking simply because liking) with 爱您" (Ai nin).

Notice- it's Ai nin instead of Ai ni( love you)

Now, here is the ques that I am having. And that's the reason I am aching with qing lang.

What is more hurtful? What pains more? Liking someone and then they suddenly ghost u after confession? Or Liking someone but they don't need you? They don't respond to your confession?

No pain is less. Both hurts. Just in different way. Running away can mean atleast the feeling or person matters to u or completely opposite don't matter. Or you dont want to face your own feelings. Which shi yuhao did. But qing lang was there. He was inside juggling with his thoughts, his pain. Am I too much? Did i invested emotionally that it scared other one? Does fame come at the cost of not able to confess publicly about the love? And till this date he didn't healed and he ques himself when he encountered similar situation and that's why he asked lan jie( am I too much?).

To which lan jie said- when drunk yes. She didn't said that his feelings is too much. She didn't said him that it's wrong to feel that way. She just kinda diverted. Maybe when u drink. It doesn't mean she is saying his emotions is too much.

Another is liking someone but he don't need u. It's like ur love whether u give or don't give it doesn't matter. Your presence don't matter to him. You can still see ur loved one daily. But even if u are gone they won't notice u. That's what he is feeling according to me. He is thinking maybe chang yang don't need me. And that's harsher to me. Much harsher. So yes i understand qing lang that why his tears are threatening to escape. Plus it's more harsher that he thinks " is it happening again?" , the pain from shi yuhao was healing and yet before it completely healed someone poked old wound.

Then lan jie said " liking is just liking. Don't make it as a need." What she said is liking is a state. It's a feeling. Just like. Don't expect. You can see the person whom u love and like them without any expectations.

Qing lang understood. Because liking is not under his control. He has already fallen. He can just set boundaries and like him without expectations. But it hurts.

There is one line that i remember when watching a twinflame story in my country " love is love. Not every love has to reach its destination."

Also, qing lang going to Lan Jie means he trust her with his vulnerability of emotions. For which he reached out to her as Jie( sister).

Also when posting "ai nin". He applied what she told him. He is brave enough to post in social media to world that he is in love. But it's that since chang yang didn't responded yet and he decided on just liking. He is setting boundaries with his emotions. And that's why formally saying "ai nin" instead of " ai ni". Because for now that's the path he chose.

This is just 4 min of ep4. And i actually have something in my mind regarding the title itself. Maybe after watching ep4 will talk about it. That being said playing resume button while sipping milk tea in ache.

Completed ep3 yesterday and what u said just fits so well. Qing lang wanted to love properly. Because idk why I have a strong gut feeling that shi yuhao is his karmic partner( if u believe in these stuff). He taught him through their relationship a lot of things. Including questioning himself when blindly following his heart. Because qing lang was remembering " we are actors. If we want to just survive, there won't be a future.But I like u. Don't you know what i am saying? U are always caught up in the bizzare emotions". And he is remembering after what happened with chang yang. He fear to make same mistakes.

We all go through some hardships it's nothing knew. But the impact is imp. We cry, take time to heal and move on and remember that incident as past just an alert. But when an incident happen or a phase of life where ur emotions with someone mattered that much and it was toxic and unhealthy yet u love that person and suddenly that person leaves u without closure. It impacts u. It changes u. It's not something u just learn lesson and move on. It haunts u and try to tell u to never go into the same path. Qing lang was emotionally invested in their toxic relationship. And it impacted him. Maybe that's why to understand the impact we have a recreation of their story with hao yu and han lu.

Certain chinese company has already announced that they will be using actors face in AI dramas. Lot of them have already given consent. U think anyone can change China?

And dw human actors will not be a past. U think AI or Sophia will personally come to give performance in theaters, operas? In dramas yes AI short dramas are emerging and AI is not yet perfect. But it's catching up. Still people watch AI dramas for story and not for acting. Saying because I tried because of hype and didn't liked acting. It's zero emotions.

No. I used to be binge watcher once upon a time. Or atleast in a day i could have watched atleast 5-6 ep of any drama or mix of dramas. But with DH this changed. I also got to realise that how much a story can effect me. Plus after that only serious dramas or dramas needing full attention like this one are being bombarded everywhere to me...to the point i am literally begging God to give me xianxia or atleast a light hearted drama. I started connecting with u. Which i am glad I did. It made me relaxed. For atleast 25 min.

No. This is not my first time researching on drama. But yes first time researching on chinese poetry and literature through a drama. U will be surprised to know if u are not a cdrama watcher that how much research one have to do while watching cdramas specially wuxia ones. Eg- swords of ploughshares or recent one like Road to Splendor. But it's definitely new when it comes to BLs ..this drama improved the quality of crap dramas we have often been imposed with.
