I actually agree with u. I am not denying anything. But let's be honest here if miao jing did indirectly pushed him in dealing with wrong people then it is also true that she did provided him a sense of home, a person who actually care for him. Who is concerned for him. Which his father wasn't. That's why she was his home. And that's the sole reason he thought to deal with wrong people. Because even before love bloom between them they were childs...both were struggling. Miao jing did provided and showed that familial bond can be confronting.
Eg- scene where he was collecting scraps. Yes he used to collect even before for hunger. But he was not smiling. But when he used to go there with miao jing to collect scraps then even in poverty he smiled genuinely. From the heart. He was not alone in his misery.
Eg- when he used to give his all to afford her tution fees she was also throwing away electric wires and said to let her deal with all electric work. If that's not care then what it is? This gentle and minute things are the comfort that she gave .
Was the intensity same? Idk. But both were kids. Both suffered. My heart aches for both. They never got bare minimum frok their own parents which is why when miao jing showed him basic thing. When she let ML feel that next day maybe having struggle but we are in this together. That's what made ML to hold on to her and give her all. That's the very hope that next day atleast I have someone beside me is his way to be happy and define his future. He never thought of himself that concerns me but he already made her his only family. Because she provided him bare minimum that he lacked. What to do???

I have watched till ep8 and keeping that as context. Very respectfully i want to just highlight that yes ML gave his all to her to have a very good life. He was more giving here and yes he was always has shoulder the responsibility that he is her family and he will do whatever it takes to have her the best life. But let's not reduce miao jing as only taking person. Since the day she entered in his life she was the only person who has given him lollipop to comfort him, make him soup and feed him when his father electrocuted him, stalling his father so as to make sure chen yi gets to the police academy exam in time but it didn't happened still she missed her own school, then she literally used to wait for him for food. Her giving and love was quiet. She gave chen yi the comfort and care and love that he never experienced in his life..she was his only comfort and light on cruel world and sadly also the reason that chen yi decided to go deep in that darkness just to have her good life. Was it unequal relationship? Idk maybe. But they both bring into table the love and care that both never got from their own family. They both bring into table what they expect familial bond should be.

U mean selective realism? And please this is not to ques ur preference in watching romance. I am just genuinely curious are u saying u want realism of brutality, DV and tough childhood and trauma that happens in real life but in romance u want devotion even when there is no guarantee that they will ever meet? Or future romantic angle? When closure is already given to miao jing by chen yi after rejection? That realism is not what u want? Basically selective realism. Fairy tale romance with touch of real and brutal world?

In real life, there are diff ways to move on. There are diff ways to deal with emotional breakdown, hurt and relationship. As long as people are separated and are not committed with anyone. And they give clarity to each other then what is the problem here?
If FL will/ has an ex then what's the issue? Is she not allowed to date? When the person she loves is not with her and they are not pursuing each other? What's so wrong in giving other a chance to move on? Yes that is little bit rebound kinda energy but if you are maintaining transperancy about feelings then what is the issue?
Similarly, if ML has flings or fake relationship that's his way to move on. If he is clear that he can't be in love with someone else and he is just trying to have one night stand without any emotional connection what is the problem? Yes he was sleeping around but definitely he was not morally wrong anywhere.

Ep8, So cop and her fiancee has taken miao jing and chen yi as their elders..which is so comforting. How come in this cruel world they found this empathic couple? Cop saying he will not let anyone harm chen yi and miao jing and cop's fiancee just talking with miao jing about girl things late night and even saying she will support and take care of her during her entrance exams. Then celebrating spring festival together by eating, talking, drinking and watching tv in bg isn't this how festivals looks like? A warm festival?
I think cop was definitely right when he said that chen yi should also think about himself. Looks like he has made his whole world centric around miao jing which is good but I am worried about him. Because if the separation happens( as per synopsis) he will be shattered.

He thinks about happy times with her including awkward moments like watching titanic movie lol...leading him to have sleepless nights. This was the first time chen yi was sad and drinking in sadness. But he don't understand why? So when his friend said " u have someone on ur mind and u need gf" but in chen yi's situation he still not want to accept that she is the one whom he desires because in his subconscious mind miao jing is still his family whom he is protective towards. That's why he gave linda chance to go on try dates... just to see if he still think about miao jing and if Linda has same impact on him if they spend time together...
Coming to miao jing, my sweet girl miao jing. She was experiencing first crush and love. And wowww how drama beautifully and accurately depicted how girls think( not generalising but some yes) to apply lipstick and try to look good with dressing good just to get more attention from her crush. And chen yi was not less he also noticed her lipstick. And I was blushing over a teenage love story aah..
I enjoyed amusement park date a lot. How chen yi's friends were trying to take away miao jing so that chen yi and Linda spend time together but miao jing was getting jealous and always trying to come in between. So childish. But what can a teenage 18 year old girl can do??? I just smiling whole time.
Chen yi is the man of act of service and bringing gifts when his miao jing was angry and giving silent treatment to confront her. To me chen yi looks like he genuinely is not able to understand how he feels towards miao jing. Whether he is protective because she is his family or he is jealous because he like her which he himself don't know.
Any how this ep was dedicated to highlight how realising that the other person's actions matter and affect u so much and realising that they mean more than family slowly.... beautiful

I bet even teenage girls will like it. There is not even swoon-worthy moments for the teenage girls to even get invested. Not to mention their sense of humour is beyond our dictionary.

Ep7, For a moment I felt bad for both miao jing and her mother. Her mother all she wanted is to have a good and wealthy life with her daughter. Not for once she thought to leave her behind. But the problem is that considering old times she is too dependent on men to provide for her. Ofcourse she is aspiring to have a good job but she has to choose a rich man here to pay off her debts...and in that process since she never even communicated with miao jing about her arrest situation makes situation worse between them. Miao jing think that she is abandoned by her own mother. Which is not 100percent true....her mother do regret her life choices but she has already lost her daughter's trust.
Coming to miao jing. She was already in dilemma but looks like she already has ans in her heart about that and whole "i need to go first to talk then i will take u back" confirmed her that she cannot get a home with her mother that she is wanting. She chose to let go of her mother to be happy without her with a sense of abandonment that she has been carrying since childhood. Although she don't know that her mother was arrested leading to whole no contact situation. But it's a fact that she was left alone in difficult situation and that feeling is painful specially for a child.
So, when she saw chen yi outside of bus stand she don't see him only. She saw him as the only person whom she return to, a person who is giving his all to have her a place called home. Her only family. The only person who despite not having blood relation with her is truly the only person who has not left her side during difficult time when her own blood relation had left her side...she saw him as the only person whom she can find and is waiting for her when everyone left her waiting.
I found it little bit funny and adorable how they have started liking each other but they are not aware of it. And how they are equally jealous when they see other with boy/ girl. Also, the way chen yi just started believing her beliefs like asking for wish and questions and the way he lift her to touch dragon head to let her have all the good luck was so touching. Never he has once thought of his own wishes because she is his wish. He is not aware of that but his actions speak. He accepted to keep the good luck charm he don't believe in but made sure she gets peace and safety she desires. It's like he is unknowingly taking responsibility upon himself to make sure she gets what she wants just in exchange of her presence and care for him in his life...i see he is healing. He found a connection that make his tuff life bearable. A reason to live. A connection that is medicine to his wounds and light in his darkness. Although he is going deep in darkness like working for dangerous people so as she keeps having light in her life. When he made her wear age of coming bracelet he looks so proud of her and the sense of her only guardian. His heart warms when he see her growing up and he is part of that growth. It's like " we made it till here despite challenges together. Because we are walking together in this road". Her teacher said a very imp thing not all parents think about emotion exhaustion that comes with dealing diff people. It's dangerous also. It's like he cares for her emotional well being which comes very late even in romantic relationship. And can we talk about how he adorably looked at her photo in school board and fixed it just because it was little bit tilted. My boy has fallen hard.
This ep was the highlight of how ur actions speak even when u urself don't know that u are falling in love with someone...it's beautiful.
Doesn't have sad ending. But it's very toxic and tragic. Either u hate one character throughout journey like 80percent…
Don't know about theory but I don't like jBL at all. For me i need time to connect with characters. Their running time doesn't let me. Yes it has depth but for me spark is missing no matter the story. I always try but it just doesn't click. Same goes with kbl. Screen time doesn't let me. I used to watch thai bl but rn it's none. All were consumed by chinese drama. Bittersweet love i have watched ep1 and deep in I have same feeling i don't like it much. Mostly I love very grey characters and that's why double helix and to my shore is in top.
For me i am not finding any drama to watch somehow despite lot of dramas being aired. That's y for now I shifted to straight cdrama to take a break. I am getting more variety there rn. Sometimes I want to watch "Don't be too emotional" but it doesn't have that spark that toxic cbl carry.
I have watched till ep6, it's so good. Its not rom com. It's about two people who fell in love with each other when they were going through very rough childhood. It involves child abuse, DV, building connection in ruins and darkness . Specially ML he suffered a lot.
In times like this...cdrama are saviours. Like love for u( not rom com but very good plot), road to success, key to the pheonix heart are some good ones airing. But royal nemesis was such a disappointment for me. Till ep4-5 it was good. I can't say the same about Perfect Crown I didn't liked it a bit.
