My thoughts exactly. I did not enjoy today's episode. Skipped quite a bit. Trying to understand why that much…
Actually that's what the issue is. I know not everything can be potrayed in the drama well but if u need to read book to get the understanding of characters and the real life them in drama not the drama they are shooting inside drama then this adaptation according to me is failure.
ep26 trailer shows the ugly side of the cultivation world. The moment Jiang Lifei is revealed as the Divine Tree,…
This has long been the history. All good things should come to immortal sect or gods as they don't misuse it and the moment something goes to demon world. They will be like they will misuse and destroy world. Which always leads to power imbalance and demon sect doing more evil as they feel suppressed.
Ep5, Loved everything. This ep made me smile so much. The way miao jing didn't wanted to go to home as she didn't wanted to be burden to him. And the way chen yi's friend just quietly understood and investigated the situation and told him says a lot that how good a friend he is. The moment chen yi just heard and the way he cleaned house so that when she comes she feel good.
What i loved in this ep was two things. The way chen yi just went to her and followed her till she express her grievances. That she is also a family then why he kicked her out? She felt so hurt. And out of sadness and anger and frustration as a teenager does she just cried and the way chen yi just hugged her was sooo comforting. Pure family vibe.
I just loved the way jing miao quietly and unknowingly was stepping into his world...from collecting cans to collecting scraps and understanding that his life was so hard...despite having a father a child was not able to have a proper meal was so heartbreaking both to her and me as an audience. The way they share ramen and pay electricity bills as if they are now each other's everything. They were in so much poverty struggling hard to sustain themselves and lead a life where atleast they can afford basic needs but what they had during that time was genuine care that both never got from their parents. In struggle they found their genuine smile. So comforting.
Chen yi has taken her as his only person and family whom he care about and that's why he is so responsible for her. He thinks of paying tution fees which he himself don't know but he is ready to take that responsibility. The way after he got to know that her school life can come to an end if he don't get money..all he can do was to take diff path just to afford that. He is slowly going into darkness just to be the light in her life and have a good bond that they are sharing..
Even jing miao was not indifferent. She immediately said that she just want to talk to her mother so that she can take responsibility and don't want to leave him...the way she throwed the electric wire that haunts chen yi shows that they have stepped into each other's world.
This was their journey from "u are not my family" to " u are my only family". And the sweet beginning of their relationship from family to emotional codependency and love in the backdrop of loneliness, abondonment, ruins and trauma.
I'm pretty sure there are more series with healthy couples than vice versa. As a fan of dark romances, I'm delighted…
Actually if u see the trend of genz and gen aplha. They are strongly against these themes and who like this..including me wants to see toxicity handled nicely. But the problem is that the adaptation is from old chinese danmei. And those were the time when these things were actually not talked about or seen as romantic( my head just spins whenever I see millennials talking about their concept of love, relationship and the trauma they claim as normal carrying as emotional baggage)..To my shore was an exception..It depends on author as well. Here lan lin throwed toxicity to the extreme level that no matter what u do u can't handle this level of toxicity or bring justice to any character except yichen( he could have gotten justice by living alone for the rest of life after all these because he can actually leave lufeng) but lufeng in true sense whether he was toxic or not he was written in a way that he could have never gotten happy ending in true sense. That's why ending is bittersweet.
Maybe when they adapt old danmei novels apart from toning down the characters they need to think or come up with a good redemption arc for the actions they have caused. Or just start afresh with new story.
Ep4, i loved how miao jing...just leaned an umbrella towards chen yi when he was grieving for his father. As if saying i am here and u are not alone.
Their bond is just based on pure care for each other. They both bring comfort to each in these sequence of events. The way chen yi understood that she is collecting empty cans to get the money to just affort the food and dorm fees and he brought her winter clothes. Not to mention China's winter winds are not blocked by anything so temp goes too low. How he just bring her outside the mob and cleverly helped her that she can't reach her mother herself. How he beat those people who were taking revenge on jing miao. How she also don't want to be burden but she also smiled when he gave her winter clothes and saying he is not her family just to keep him out of her trouble...such a pure family vibe.
My heart breaks for chen yi. Afterall he just became an adult. His life is soo hard. He has nothing. No home , no family, no college, no stable job. All he has is responsibility and love. He gives love to his friend. He seek comfort and give care to jing miao. He even gave her all the money he had just so that she gets herself a good roof because he knew that atp he can't even keep her in their home... similarly jing miao lost her mother, all money.
All they have is themselves and each other to rely on...that police officer was a gem. I see his fiancee would be someone who will give a guiding light to jing miao...
Wonder how lufeng and yichen life would have been if the marriage thing never happen and they stay together after…
They still would have passionate relationship. But lufeng still had obsession. He still need to go under therapy and yichen will remain a person who never stand up for lufeng. Or he would be in guilt that he after saying no to his family he is still with the person who indirectly caused his mother's death and his brother's leg being paralysed.
No matter how u look these two were written in a way that they could never had a happy ending. They could have only got the happy ending if they were never seperated in school days.
Then lufeng would be a sweet and good lover and yichen would have fought with all his spirit just to stay with him...yes lufeng would have some issues but through communication they could have resolved it or through therapy afterall lufeng had a very bad childhood.
Looks like FL's mom has mortgaged the house when his dad was in the ICU.
So she mortgaged the house and he bought the house so he has loan debt. But how he got loan? Didn't earlier in ep they said he can't get loan? I am soo confused. Plus another thing I don't understand if he said yes to treat his father when he was declared brain dead? Because looks like he is and hospital bills were also high.
I am in ep4 and can someone clarify me what's going on? I am not able to understand how chen yi's is having this much loan debt and what is the issue with his house and mortgage?
Also, is ML and FL relationship is trauma bonding???
Ig english translation of volume 4-6 is not there yet. Last i checked in Wattpad they said all volumes will get translated. Not sure if that is done yet.
It seems like no one read the synopsis? He isn't coming back. It's about moving on after losing someone. I think…
Exactly!!! I just don't understand why there is expectations of Jia yi's first love to come back? But even i don't think why the series has shown Jis yi's first love arc for half of the series. Because moving on from person whom u loved is not easy and 5-6 ep can't make up for it. It's about accepting the loss, grieving, forgiving urself, then slowly muttering the courage to open ur heart to love then overcome fear with that person then only relationship then love and happy ending. It's a process..and 5-6 ep doesn't justify that.
Also, i am in doubt if Jia yi's first love arc has shown in this much detail then it had obviously changed him as a person. Which makes whole moving on arc demanding more ep. This misbalance is something i am confused.
But i get the comments...maybe audience also got attached with 1st pair.
The cinematography, OST and acting were brilliant. Haven't seen any other BL of such high production from China.
I didn't liked DFF. I was understanding the plot but somehow i was not able to feel the tension and scared for the characters.
4 minutes. I loved it. But that series has some issues. I was more invested in 2nd cp. Plus, for 1st cp their love story just went too fast for me. I never understood why Great was in love with Tyme? Tyme was having feelings for great since childhood so i understand him. Also, the story have suspense which should be as per the genre but it's explained very late in the drama. Till that time I was confused which was also it's good point but also bad. Then later 4min concept when they explained its not put in a way that everyone can understand.
Basically BOC demands it's audience to be intelligent so it's not every one cup of tea. Plus, BOC also demands it's viewers to have all the attention to the screen without missing a sec. And these are what make BOC better than other production.
Infact I loved 4minutes more than Kinnporche despite it being most popular. The reason being I don't understand why and how 1st cp had so much love? Just because of one stuck situation?
Although I didn't much understand Shine, but I will recommend one to watch that over kinnporche. It has good plot and it's unique. I kept Shine on my rewatch list thinking after research about timeline and it's events and thai history i will better understand that drama.
Same goes here DH, made me think how Ayden is so proficient in Mandarin which is the hardest language in the world. That made me interested to go and search net about Singapore and china past links and cultural ties. Afterall, sleeping in world history classes is costing me.
For me drama is not just about story, it's about how i enrich myself as an individual and learn something. Sigh. But if u have one with this depth any story do let me know. I will add in watchlist. Currently so busy with ongoing dramas.
Edit:- you have such a long list....which i should ever see??? 😅
Ep3, why I am soo sad. The way ML just wanted to be in police. Ig a part of it is coming from the fact he had a very bad childhood. Ig he also wanted to give justice to the people who are seeing wrong and facing this torture and in the process heal his inner child. Why parents are like this? Just because he doubt him that he is not his own son he treated a child so badly. He even used to sleep at warehouse all this time. Home is supposed to be safest place in the world and yet he despite having home never felt safe.
It just break my heart to see how his father wanted to control him and why he did that? Why he didn't wanted to see his own raised son to be in police? The way his friends supported him and FL left her school class to assist him was the only good thing in this ep.
Another thing, ML is such a pure heart person even though he knew that his father is not gonna make it he signed papers. He knew what FL's mother wanted he just said I need inheritance so that he can atleast have a roof and he even allowed FL to stay till she come of a age. He knew that FL's mother job is no more and she probably will end up like him having no one to rely on. So compassionate.
It's said that whenever a person goes through something bad either that person become a monster or a complete empathic person and looks like our ML is second.
The way, FL just understood his pain and didn't said anything was so comforting. She hold his hand just to say that I am here for u. What a beautiful transformation from enemies( in teasing way) to friends...
The plot twist when ML just gave DNA report to his father's grave was so sad. As if he is saying " look, the one u always hurted was ur own son" . It's his last act of kindness yet torture to his father to let him know the truth in his death.
Idk if i am the only one who feel but the connection between FL and ML is also trauma bonding. Idk i just get that vibes.
I am really curious here, how do you find the time to watch all of them? 🤔 It is not simple really
Those audio, songs, cinematography are exactly there to set ur mood. And make u understand the characters pain more. So u connect with them.
When I say nobody cares means why would anyone listen to my lecture on reels and brain rot. 😅 That's not the motive nor anyone is interested in that.
Girl!!! Drama slump is real. Trust me. It happens. Some stories just doesn't connect with u. That's it. Later maybe u can. Why to force urself? U can watch anime, novels, kdrama, old cdrama, movies, short stories. Just do whatever u feel like. Watch and read where u can relate.
U can try with 12 letters( slow pacing), had i not seen the sun( if u like dark themes), we all are trying here( I heard it's pretty good I haven't watched it), lighthearted dramas u can take since u are going through drama slump it might work....
Side note:- there are times when I started watching cartoons because that used to interest me. Because barbiee in a princess charm school and 12 dancing princess is my comfort cartoon. No u don't come after age. I am still 12 when it comes to this. Lol.
People are not. No one was shipping them. But ig it's a series of events. Both were suffering. Both were toxic.…
No i didn't felt bad about any of ur words. I completely get ur point and concern. That's why it's very imp for people to ques and discuss about series dealing with dark themes. And who romanticise it idk what to say about them.
I am really curious here, how do you find the time to watch all of them? 🤔 It is not simple really
PoJ i dropped. U managed to complete it right? I was like nope i am not gonna watch anything just for beautiful cinematography and zhang linghe. Because plot was meh. I was not even able to complete or watch more than 5 min of WLGYT. After watching cdrama, kdrama just don't click with me. True, now a days there is less drama that interest u. So simple, don't force it. Give urself time watch something diff. If u are not able to connect with story and character then it's not ur fault right? Eventually u will like something.
Also, it depends on psychology also. Suppose u are going through a tuff exam prep, u can't watch anything. That time even boring drama will interest u. Or suppose u have stress u will not be able to watch anything no matter what u will do.
So everyone is diff right. About WLGYT it touched u because of story was painful and slice of life. The love was not loud it's more about care. WLGYT will always be very close to u. But if u compare the same depth with other drama which clearly u can't get. Because they are not producing that type so how u will like it? Last ig people talked about was " we all are trying here". U can give it a try it didn't worked for me. Or u can always watch old cdrama. Have a nice rest of the day :)
I am really curious here, how do you find the time to watch all of them? 🤔 It is not simple really
Also watch ur brain rot. I used to have this problem when I was not able to watch anything despite having good story. The key is to rejuvenate ur brain. U need to start from watching 10-15 min yt videos then 20min. Then just watch anime, then take a long drama. It's a process. But first throw it insta and tiktok away and limit it to just watching it during certain time and day. And no short cdrama. Ur focus will improve and I can focus on story where drama placing is slow..
I am really curious here, how do you find the time to watch all of them? 🤔 It is not simple really
Depends on how u view and approach drama. For me I used to watch drama to understand themes and topics better to support my understanding in studies. Later I started enjoying drama.
I kept exploring and understood what kind of drama I connect with. For me I connect with a drama where there is depth in characters, where u learn something new, where u get roller coaster ride, which questions u, which makes u have sleepless nights.
U need to find that first and then watch according to ur present state of mind.
This drama "love for u" sits right with me because i recently completed a very heavy drama and this drama has a story to tell. It's less about romance till now and more about empathy and the problems of Domestic violence, pressure from family, parental love, trauma bonding ( i think), therapy. So it's not an easy drama. The story is painful. U cry for ML and feel for FL. That's how one gets connected with a character and story and u overcome drama slump.
It's never about who liked this drama or whether others are also in dramaslump. It more about how u feel with the drama.
I am really curious here, how do you find the time to watch all of them? 🤔 It is not simple really
Well. I take time. I don't rush. Sometimes during weekends i watch 2-3 ep and sometimes none. Not to mention i also watch LGBTQIA+ drama and read novels also. All with job and study.
The key is to connect with story and characters and u will easily watch it.
