I saw Gagaoolala's account was also deleted, not just the comment. Maybe they did encounter a snag with the moderators on this site. But it's not like they are promoting illegal sources / unofficial links that are plenty on MDL .

But that's weird though. Why wouldn't they be allowed to promote their own platform? This is how people discover new sources for hard to find LGBT productions. I saw Strongberry doing the same on here so it's not MDL doesn't allow it. I joined Gagaoolala because of this.
i agree and that's why it would have been good it they end the story at first movie. Toey should had move on like…
Totally agree with you that it should have ended with the first movie. And Toey accusing Oat for falling in love in such a short time, but didn't he do the same??? SMH
This is my first time watching a Korean BL drama. I didn't expect much to be honest, because most BL feel a bit…
Exactly. I like Asian story telling , even European storytelling compared to Western story telling because for me, a lot of the Western production focuses more on the culmination of the act than the journey itself, of course with some exceptions. I like stories like these where the focus is on the emotional/sexual awakening (pretty much like a lot of coming-of-age movies). Of course there are good works, mediocre offerings and bad productions coming out of every country and Western/European productions are easier to come by than let's say dramas and films produced by conservative Asian countries.
I used to find a lot of these small independent works on Vimeo where I try to support LGBTQ titles, so they could churn out more works and hopefully mainstream media will take attention.
I just found about Gagaoolala, a LGBTQ streaming site based in Taiwan but just launched internationally in May and they contain a lot of LGBTQ titles from Asia, including the works already in Vimeo. So instead of paying per title when it comes out at the same cost of a monthly membership, we get access to at least 300 titles and more to come weekly.
You know at this point I say we let our imaginations run completely wild lol. I see a lot of commentary on here…
Yes I agree. For me it's the intensity and/or the emotional journey the characters go through that what makes or breaks for me. There are a lot of LGBTQ dramas out there (even het dramas) that have tons of skinship that don't illicit chemistry these two characters have for each other. I would take substance over meaningless smut anyday.
Unpopular opinion: I'm all for a 'happy' ending and all that but this is one of those that doesn't need it. Why? Because I'm not too fond of emotional adultery and I'm of the mindset that Oat should have told his wife sooner. Chasing down Toey without consideration for his family and making Toey feel guilty for ruining it, is so uncool.
I get it that Oat was afraid of the consequences of coming out and he was trying to be a responsible father and husband, but he should have thought about it before acting upon his impulses. Planting his feet in two boats, waiting to see which wins out, is not a solution. If his wife hadn't brought up the subject of him not saying where he was, Oat would have kept his mouth shut.
It seems that only Toey and Numwha are the ones who are thinking properly, placing another's happiness above theirs. Jane, and to an extent, Kenta are sounding boards that offer different perspectives on what can be considered as 'good,' 'bad,' 'right,' or 'wrong' behavior and these are the 4 characters who seem to make Oat less of a bad person than one who's simply in love.
It is true that Korean society is not yet open to lgbtq. And many people say that Korean bl has a lot of BE and…
OMG. Exactly what I'm debating with some people here. People insisting this is not BL because there is no outright skinship or having bad endings, are just trying trying to pigeon hole a genre that suits their needs.
Dramas and movies with LGBTQ themes run the gammut of the spectrum and that's why there are different terms catering to different audiences for it.
Films/dramas that usually explore the more realistic, slice of life of LGBTQ community are that: LGBTQ films/ dramas.
Then you have BL. Which is further broken down to: Bara - MxM catering mostly to male audiences Yaoi - BxB targeting mostly female audiences Shounen ai - same as Yaoi but focuses more on romance and not explicit as Yaoi
Then you also have GL With Yuri as subset
For an ending to determine the type of genre it is, is quite silly unless it ends tragically then you can call it a tragedy. But as I mentioned to someone else before, just because two people don't end up together doesn't mean it's not a romance.
You are right. Unless S. Korea becomes a more open society, then it will be a battle for mainstream dramas/films to be produced. As right now, most of the LGBTQ productions are made by smaller production studios or are independent films.
So there is more of a need for these studios, films to get all the support they can get by people purchasing them either through official streaming platforms like Vimeo, or subscribe to Viki or Gagaoolala as paying members. Only then they will be able to produce more quality works which will will in turn expand this genre in international, but more importantly local countries who need to see that the world is changing and hopefully LGBTQ will no longer be considered as a "fringe" society in a conservative country like S. Korea.
But on viki you can find it in the genre of BL? o_o
Just because a drama ends sadly doesn't mean it's not BL. It's much like a romance ending up in death like Romeo and Juliet doesn't mean it's not romance. Same thing with all the dramas ending tragically like MODC etc. Is still BL.
Exactly especially in the latest episode where han tae basically says that he needs to let gook be his own person.…
Exactly this is what I'm afraid of. First "mainstream" BL drama out of SK will end up sadly. Especially Chaebol son "not allowed" to be gay and must follow norm, marry a girl, have kids etc. There was also mention that Tae Joo will be shipped to England if he misbehaves and to me this was like foreshadowing.
It's Korea after all. Even the kisses in their hetero dramas are rather underwhelming. I wouldn't expect a passionate…
Already happy about the shower scene, maybe that was as erotic this show can get. But at least the undertones are stronger than other watered-down romance.
Love Trap is coming to GagaOOLala this June! www.gagaoolala.com
OMG! Didn't know your website existed. A lot of the titles on your platform I've already purchased already from Strongberry, Matchbox straight from Vimeo. If I had known about this earlier!
Hiya there! I miss you!Anyways, you're right about Advance Bravely. Even though it lacked kissing scenes despite…
Dramas based on BL novels coming out of China are lucky enough to see the light of day without turning into hetero romantic or water-downed bromance so I'm already happy what we've got so far with the above three dramas I mentioned. It goes to show that portrayal of an emotional bond (even romantic) can be done without overt skinship or outright confessions of love.
And those that make excuses that it was because BrightWin didn't have the same type of bonding workshop as other BL dramas or that some scenes were filmed prior them being comfortable with each other or the fact that they are both straight as light posts are all bullcrap to me as Chinese dramas don't typically conduct workshops just to induce bonding (as time is money) and also in the case of Advanced Bravely and The Untamed...the leads are also relatively new to acting. So it's unfortunate that the drama failed at execution and BrightWin's pretty faces couldn't keep the show afloat till the end.

P.S. Maybe we will end up with more than just a high five???
