they work on paper, but they are not characters in drama, they are real people and they are obviously not having romantic feelings for each other. And there is a difference between viewers shipping them based on what's showed and the writers, producers and MCs of said show trying to push narrative that there is something going on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

okay, while I am fine with them showing Jimin and Hushin because they obviously had feelings for each other and there is a potential of dating outside of the show, they putting Jiwon and Jumi together too is just uncomfortable.

from the synopsis, she will probably "go missing" episode 2. She is only a supportive role, and I think her whole existence is just for the set up and nothing more.

Okay so I watched first hour of episode 1 and yeah.. I am out. Yeeting myself out of the door, shutting them behind me, dropping the key in the Pacific ocean and moving to a different planet just to be sure 🤡

you know what drama I want to watch Whatever happened in that opening shot - give me death game on the island with all these characters and that I would binge with no sleep 🤣

the scenes of him re-learning how to behave like a human were truly amazing - great set up for a lot of good jokes

it's sad that the only thing the show had to offer writing wise is a few cute scenes here and there 🙃 but it's truly it's quite enjoyable for the attractive cast and good chemistry

everything you said is laterally not set up well in the drama itself. explaining the context and family dynamics, connection between families etc. is important for the storytelling reasons. Not everything can be left with "it's a cultural thing" especially since the same cultural values are less and less dominant in mainstream media in Korea. It's most likely dominant in the actual society, but it's not in the entertainment industry and stories they present.

yep, that's one of the issues - they did not set up a proper reason why he cannot break up with his gf. It never felt like he TRULY DEEPLY loves her, they did not really explain that there might be some business family shit going on where the family needs the mayor to survive or something. it feels like he is not breaking up simply because he is not sure about Hong Ju's feelings 🤡

I just cannot buy the romance, because of all the uncertainty if the spell works or not.
Sure, it makes more sense the spell does not work, but then Rowoon's character makes little sense. Because it's not like his feelings gradually changed and he started to like her, he just started to obsessively love her right away. It truly bothers me 🙃 To create the "confusion" they made the character behave in an unrealistic manner. Like, compare it with Hong Jo and how slowly she started to have feelings for Shin Yu.

This show is basically a rom-com mixed with every fucking genre and trop that has even existed 🙃 It's like it was written by 10 different writers with 10 different ideas for the plot so nothing is set up, nothing is explored, and while separate scenes work great, the overall story as whole is just a mess.
this believe episode 4 was a highlight.

🧠 Kwon Jae Kyung is so me with his reaction to the whole "love potion" issue 🤣 Realistic to a T.
🪄 Seduction spell was put in that spell book, coz the bish just knew whomever makes love potion might fail in their attempt, so she wanted to give them a 2nd chance 🤡
💞Both male leads acting like pity teenagers is the best thing ever. Especially in the case of Jae Kyung. It's a blast to see him act so silly.
🔥Damn... this 2nd lead syndrome.... damn... daaaaaamn. BUT ROWOON IS SOOOO GOOD LOOKING 🙃
☀️ Gotta love Shin Yu explaining how he does not love Hong Jo while also instinctively covering the sun so it won't shine in her eyes 😅
❤️ "I don't want to make you feel comfortable" and I 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 also bish moved on FAST 🤣

"he relly care about the common people" yes, that's why he just left the village and told Gil Chae to just drop everyone and run away alone when he gives her fire signal and they don't listen to her to leave too. If he cared for them, he would explain to Gil Chae's and Eun Ae's father how the Qing people are more likely than not going to pass through their village and they should be always ready to leave - have few necessary things packed. And explain to them the fire signal he was planning to make.

Oh yes and he was also SO CARING when he was hunting down Joseon people who tried to run away from being Qing's slaves 👍🏻 great guy who truly thinks about common people.

Literally every good deed he did in this drama was FOR Gil Chae and her alone. Every one of his involvement in the war was for her, because he was worried about her and did not want her to be in danger.

The same way Gil Chae prioritizes her friends and family (with his perfectly natural thing), Jang Hyun prioritizes Gil Chae. He might understand the struggles common people go through, but he does not give that much fuck.

I'm sad you don't see it, but the whole beauty of the show is how flawed ALL the characters are, but also the good sides they possess. Literally the best part if the fact no one is great and perfect, they are only as good as the circumstances allow them to be.
