People be like: Jang Hyun deserves better, he should end up with second female lead.
And I'm like: so what you're saying, based on your mortality, hunting people down for profit which leads to many of them dying, including children is not as bad as marrying a man to make sure you can provide for your family? Ok π
The fact her husband would most likely not want her when she goes back after being captured.
Or how the 2nd female lead laterally hunts down Joseon people and works with the invaders
this comment makes me think maybe there should be a word limit for posts and comments π€‘
anyway, my reaction to episode 1 as I watch it π
SEJHGFDSHJFGDSAKJF THE WAY THEY OPEN BOTH PARTS WITH JANG HYUN FIGHTING ASSHOLES WHILE THINKING OF GIL CHAE IS A CRIME! IT'S TOO PERFECT! IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL! Coz damn listen, he is so fine with all the angsty fighting with blood. And how aesthetically pleasing the shots are!
YO. No. He was literally about to basically commit suicide with the help of the dude. I cannot. The way they open with pain ππ God bless Gu Jam for saving his ass.
"You know the road is full of bandits so why?" - precisely because he knows it's dangerous, he wants to take it, because he hopes he will die killed by one of the bandits. PAIN!
MASNBAS HFGSAJFMNSDH KJDDFB NCXFH V C FUCKING OMG THAT FOREHEAD KISS WHEN HE NAMES THE THING OF HERS THAT BELONG TO HIM BITCHES BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEES! OMG and then that soft cheeks kiss i am fucking dying! and crying omg. nooooooooooo. i love angst, but this is too much ππ
i had to pause. i could not handle the kiss. omg. i am so invested in this couple and these characters i am fucking anxious and tense and crying and NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENED YET! π€‘π€‘π€‘π€‘π€‘π€‘π€‘
I NEVER related so much to my icon as I am right now watching that kissing scene π
ah yes, please, give me more pain and right after Jang Hyun remembers that kiss with Gil Chae while he was hoping to die killed by bandits, switch to the wedding night of Gil Chae and the Officer π₯² also, yeah bitch, not blaming you for reaching for that alcohol so fast, would need that too in your situation...
Wait... who is this lady hugging our local evil gay guy Ryang Eum? π€‘ Did Jang Hyun cutting him off of his life traumatized him so much he turned straight? π€£ *I'm trying to joke around coz I'm in so much pain π*
Ma prince dude... you cannot read the room. The King is OBVIOUSLY not happy you are making Qing happy, but here you are bragging how you made them happy and how they are different from the rumors π€‘ That said, it's obvious the king is also paranoid and would read "bad intentions" NOT MATTER what the prince would say. Even if he kept saying the opposite things, the king would not be pleased. Coz he dying, old, stupid and threatened by the prince... π
ooooooooooooo, so he is adopted. makes even more sense why king hates him π€‘
Eon Gyum being like "Something happened in Joseon? Why it looks like you just lost the woman you love" is so perfect it's both painful and funny. And then dick joke. I disliked this guy in pt1, but I'm starting to like him in pt2 π
This episode is just pain, build on more pain sprinkled with some delicious angst.
I'm going to have a migraine from all the exhausting emotions I am feeling. Even the shaky hands of Yang Chun make me cry.
Β―\_(γ)_/Β― I don't know how I feel about them making Jang Hyun a complete hero who protected the captives all along. I actually liked that aspect of him - how he put his own survival over other people, how morally gray he was. They are turning him a bit too white now π€‘
omg π€£π€£π€£ i have no idea what Jang Hyun thought would happen, but the guy asking him to sell more people for profit is literally number one thing anyone would think of π π and yet he looked so surprised. It's obvious the guy is so money hungry, he would sell anything and everything and he is willing to work he Jang Hyun when he trusts him exactly -8657034985034854% if it means more money. Also that pure smile of happiness he had when he asked Jang Hyun to sell more people for him π€£π€£ he never looked this happy.
Not this episode making me hate Ryang Eum even more π€‘ Bish took Jang Hyun for granted quite a bit. The way he kept causing more trouble and be like: Jang Hyun will solve it, Jang Hyun will protect us... oof
I appreciate how even thought the episode is full of pain and angsty they are still able to deliver some jokes π₯²
I'm curious how he was able to hide a whole ass fucking village of slaves and no one found out so far. Also makes me a bit annoyed, because I was defending his ass for not sending any letters to Gil Chae in pt1, coz it's dangerous and he is probably observed 24/7, and now this bitch has a whole ass fucking secret society going on π
I feel broken, because Jang Hyun looks broken. We are all broken, This drama broke us. I need a drink. I have no alcohol. He at least is getting drunk, nothing can save me from my pain. Life is not fair.
Is Ryang Eum bi? I would not be mad about it. Also. sorry bitch I can't give less fuck about your angst π
The tortured maids... same outfits we saw on Gil Chae in promo pics right? Will she become on of the royal maids? That's like... literally the worst place she can be π
This is why I love this show. Coz most things are not black and white and all characters are morally good or bad depending on specific situations. We all liked Yang Chun, even when he tried to make Jang Hyun sleep with basically a child (since she was just 15), it was such a small moment no one even mentioned it after that episode passed, but now we see more flaws from him, more backwards opinions - like the "intruders women being not worthy to be rescued", as if it's their fault they were raped and they should be punished for it, as if it damaged them. Truly gross and awful thinking. But I think that's the beauty of the show, because most people have some bad takes, questionable moral takes etc., we just don't see them in ourselves, because they align with our moral codes.
And yes, I get some of it comes from him not wanting Jang Hyun to risk his life to save... well, anyone, but he does have a bad view of the women that were captured, because he also acts disrespectfully towards the woman who tried to help him with a child...
Being too noble can fuck you up in war. I can already tell that one bitch is gonna be a rat and tell the psycho lady tat the maids are trying to escape. That's why he should have saved Young Rang only. That's the thing about the war - it can bring the best and the worst in people. It will make one do heroic acts, and will make another make cowardly decisions.
Omg i am so happy they made it. and I'm so sorry for judging that one girl π Now I feel awful for the fictional character, because she did not rat them out, but she did stay, being too afraid to run away π
Jang Hyun's fighting scenes are so π₯π₯π₯ Who needs shower scenes when you can have Jang Hyun slaying enemies?
WE DON'T DESERVE JANG HYUN! ππππ "A man in his right mind will not think such an incident makes you trash".
The king is as much of a trash as he was in pt 1, good to know some things do not change π
The scene when they capture Gil Chae did not happen yet but I'm already fucking angry and annoyed, I might actually break my laptop when it happens π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬
yo... the ep is going to end with Jang Hyun seeing Gil Chae among the captured Joseon people, for sure. I am WAY TOO FUCKING WEAK FOR THAT!
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH ππππππππ
His role in Island is extremally similar to his role in Hit the Top. As I said, he mostly sticks to two types of characters, with similar personalities and ways of expression.
I am not going to talk about a drama that is not out yet, cannot judge his performance in a show that literally does not exist yet.
My point is the same as it was in all my previous replies - for me his is not diverse actor, and he tends to pick similar roles, I wish to see him in something completely different (the new drama in production might be it). IF he cannot land any other roles than the 2 types he did so far, personally I think he does better with the extroverted cheeky character over stoic ones.
What's your point tho? No one can ever criticize him about anything? Because this seems to be your point from your replies to me.
There is not cognitive dissonance, also this is wrong use of the term anyway π€‘
I think he is limiting his chances of IMPROVING HIS ACTING, not improving his popularity. No contradictions here.
I CLEARLY talk in other comments how he picks more or less just 2 types of main roles, and how the way he picks his projects reminds me of Ji Chang Wook, who also kept picking either the same action driven roles, or the same rom-com driven roles, and how I would love for Eun Woo to be in a project with more serious tones, like Ji Chang Wook did with If You Wish Upon Me.
I am not bitching, I am respectfully sharing my opinion, without personally attacking nor name calling either other users, nor Eun Woo himself.
You projecting your anger and assumption on me is ridiculous.
also, i am sorry, but if you think acting skills are the only reason people get cast on dramas, you have some learning to do about the industry. marketabililty is a HUGE thing.
and chill, i clearly said many times that I don't think he is as bad as people think, all I'm saying he is limiting himself by not taking more demanding roles. you get sensitive about even valod criticisms thay don't come form hate. if I hated him i would say he should stop acting, not take more diverse roles to work on his the skill.
Being popular does not equal being good. While him picking similar roles is amazing for his popularity it won't he helpful with improving his skills. He is doing perfect job to be popular actor, not so much to be thought as a good actor.

also made a mistake, she is 2 years older than him. still too young to play his mother hahaha
no visible age difference there
The ending of episode 2 is just π€‘π€‘π€‘π€‘
Also, Eun Woo does look young for his age and this styling makes him look younger too.
