it's like a mix of A Piece of Your Mind and My Liberation Notes for the tone, and Secret (2013) for the misplaced revenge turn love in terms of plot.

I don't even think there is anything wrong with shows being just fluff and that's the only thing they can offer, but even fluff shows can be done well and memorable, and mediocre...

This fake tan is painful, it's so uneven it just looks like they are dirty.
I mean, these are the issues of trying realism for period dramas. Ain't no skin care with whitening shit in the past, but all the actors who play the roles are pale because of all the cosmetics and sunscreens... So they need a fake tan, but it's not easy to keep it look good for the whole filming period...

Also, love how they put fake tan on everyone, but FL, coz she obviously still need to look "pretty" 😅

Honestly, if I was in Doo Hak's position, I don't think I could maintain my friendship with Cheol Woong. Friendship is build on the idea of partnership, and since he will forever have to lower himself because of his status... It would just emotionally exhaust me.

I have to say tho, overall it's so aesthetical beautiful.

That said, I will also be a bit sad if it will be ex-friends against each other and SML being the evil dude throughout the show, because of his complexes. I rather have them both be good. But after episode 1, SML is just so mentally weak he is on a perfect road to evil pathetic... Unless this whole shit that about to happen will be a wake up call for him.

Also, his mom is a power hungry, but also dumb af 🤣

I think the issue with Jim's behavior was not that it was not realistic for his age, but rather it was dumb to relate it as a consequence of his age rather than his past experiences and present responsibilities. Realistically speaking, he was isolating himself like that and did not want to get into a relationship not coz "people his age.... whatever", but because he got fucked up by his last partner he wanted to build a future with, then said partner died so he did not get a proper closure about the cheating and then his family took all the money he saved, while he also had to take care of a young teenage boy. So after that shit, it makes sense he was so closed off. But it was not because of his age, but they kept bringing his age as if it was a factor in it. I know people younger than the character who act in a similar fashion because of the mix of his history and personalities, and it has nothing to do with age. But they truly tried to make his age a big thing and important aspect of all his issues and reservations.

and though it wasn’t perfect, it was 1000x better than most of the stuff I’ve seen. < true. Honestly speaking, unless the deaf character is THE center of the plot and the story is build around them, it's hard to truly show representation in a more in depth way, since the deaf community is extremely diverse and many external factors affects what type of struggles they will face. so with the limited screen time, they did really well with Heart's story.

That's why I said free content does not really have subs, but if you check Netflix - they do. Paid service = better service in that aspect. And Heart's family have enough money to get him that streaming platforms. I don't know how it is with cinema BUT the context of their conversation was not just going to cinema, but overall that he watches at home foreign movies, coz Thai content does not have Thai subs. Or how he want to study in America, which suggest he knows English, so why can;'t he watch them with English subs? (unless I missed something, and that school was not in US...). As I said, I just cannot turn my brain off 😅

The magic is usually in their initial outing for which they were specifically cast and well-suited. < this. The fact that many BLs don';t really have auditions, but rather roles are offered to not even just well established actors, but always the pairings, it's given at times the cast will not quite match the characters they are supposed to act as.

preferring international films because Thai films never come with subtitles < for me these little details bothered me, coz I just cannot turn my brain off not to nitpick. Heart is a rich kid. His family can afford any streaming platform subscription and most if not all have subs in the original language too. So in his case, this scene just felt questionable because it did not really represent his reality. Someone who does not have money and is deaf - that's a whole different story. Close to none of the free content provided subs in the original language. Especially since as you mentioned, they talked about income disparity, but ignored it in that once aspect and what kind of benefits it might give to a deaf person to live in a wealthy family. That's why in my review I said the whole show feels more like appetizers than a whole meal, because they never truly show the depth and complexity of any of the issue they tackled.

That said, it was still one of the better representations of deaf community.

omg yes about the sign language scene. I get what the director wanted to show - a small representation how deaf people feel with the limited ways of communicating with others (since most people do not know sign language) and for us to better connect to Li Ming's hard work to understand Heart through the context alone, BUT it only worked at first, when Li Ming himself did not know the sign language. Later when there were scene of both of of them using it, and Li Ming not even verbalizing what he is saying, there were not even any clues and context to get by. It was just cutting the viewers out of the scenes completely.

There is only one situation when I think it's legit to say a show should not be made: when a show is labeled 18+ for the sexual content, but it's about teenagers below the age of said restriction. Coz then who is this show made for? Adults who like to watch teens have sex?

I think overall this whole "one month one episode" is a hard thing to do well. It can works for books since you can make chapters as long as you like and the internal narration helps to understand characters, but for a drama with limited screentime... not easy.

Li Ming and Heart had the best pacing for their story. The way it was told was simply the best. Quality wise - A.

About Alan, I think it was a case of not taking into consideration the character's situation and if it fits the storytelling system. While Everyone's situation was "slower" and slowly but gradually changing, where the 1 episode is 1 month format fitted and could focus on the big highlights of what's going on, Alan's situation was fast and more dynamic. For him, most of his story truly happened in like 1-2 months, and since we only saw a few scenes of his, we literally missed everything that was important in terms of how his character reacted and then dealt with the situation he was in.

We saw him go from ready to fight, to desperate, to depressed to moved on, all in like 5 scenes throughout the show, so it might seem all over the place, he might seem too emotional and not mature, compared to other characters. But the truth is, he was in the most emotionally draining and exhausting and dynamics situation out of all the characters, everything change in a matter of month or two, and with this storytelling, we just skipped most of what was important in Alan's story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A lot of users cut the rating in half, 5 and everything below is like 1 for them, and you must truly hate everything about the show to rate it that low... which is not true.

For the casting - they had 2 solutions: cast someone of appropriate age, or change the age of the characters. But instead they tried to convince us Earth can pass as 40 and it was just hilarious.
