Is it as complex as the original one? No. But their environment is much more limited - same department, lack of practical experience. They could have added a bit more complexity to their shortcomings tbh. So far the idol is the only one that's different.
O I Yeong is kind of delusional about her financial situation and the seriousness of the job.
Nam Gyeong is delusional about her non-existing rivalry with I Young.
Kim Sa Bi is delusional about her actual skills and what's important at her job.
Um Jae Il stands out the most since he is actually eager to do the good job, and that's why he is "overdoing".
So O I Yeong will learn how to be passionate and experience job from the hard work and helping patients.
Nam Gyeong will learn how to cooperate and focus on the good result for the patients, instead of focusing on other doctors.
Um Jae Il will learn how to balance the work and prioritize/judge the situations (I can totally see him collapsing at some point from overwork).
Kim Sa Bi will learn how to take into consideration patient's feelings and appreciate real life experience over book information (watch her fail because she acts according to what she read and it has negative results she won't understand).
Anyway, yeah I am actually excited for episode 2 even tho it seems a bit predictable.
Oh one more thing, Um Jae Il overdiagnosing everyone is so real π€£ Same shit happens in psychology during university years and right after: No one just has flaws, everyone has personality disorder. No reaction is just a normal reaction to a situation, it's a trauma response lol No one is just sad, they are depressed. There are no introverts, everyone is autistic hahaha the over-diagnosing at first is a common thing.
I feel like some people might think: after all these deaths, how can they even get close to anyone when they know it will lead to them dying after 4 years. But honestly, I feel like it's the coping mechanism. Right after their birthday and someone dying they probably close themselves off and refuse to get close to anyone, but after some time... like a year, you start to rational illogical situation they are in. You start to hope the last time was THE last time. That this time it will be different, that you can keep someone safe, that there is a way. And then the closer you get to bday again, and they honeymoon time of "hope" starts to die, you start to get scared again, so you try to push them away...
Okay question tho, if Day's aunt AND her husband died... should he get a free pass next bday, to be fair? π€‘π€£
Okay thought exercise lol IF them meeting would not be solution, I would be curious what would happen if they became friends... Would they both die at the same time on their bday? Or would it be whoever was more unlucky to die a second earlier had to go, and the other survives?
Also... become a fucking antihero! Befried awful people and watch them die 4 years later π₯ππ₯
Honestly... I would kill myself just so she would stop screaming at me ππ€£
Okay this is helal fucking random, but I LOVE Pond's make up in this episode. Holy shit it's great.
SJFHSDFDS the names of his girlfriends tho lol One was Joy... and coz he is cursed he cannot have joy in his life. But now he met Dream, and maybe he can start dreaming of a better future π₯² I love her tho, so much. The way she is just calling him random names coz he does not want to tell her him real one π€£
JUSTICE FOR PLUTO! βπ»
Up till now it was more of a thriller supernatural vibes, but that preview goes full horror π€£
I was honestly not mad about the straight couple, but only if they actually be like a supporting couple. But they are literally getting the main couple treatment π
I was so sure he was Mr. Carrot, Who the fuck is MR Carrot if not Seung Won????
The episode was fine, not crazy good, but that ending π€£ Did not see it coming.
While I like how it's not just romance. and it feels more like a youth drama, I do also think there is not enough Hee Su and Seung Won's scenes together. Their little unintentional convenient store date was ADORABLE. The way Hee Su said they both have no chance, but Seung Won said he feels like he might ππππ
I like how the set up camera. Also, loved that one show when they were rotating camera like a clock.
That said... this is probably "the most typical and mainstream ASD portrayal" we can get. Not that it's incorrect, but I would hope in 2025 we would get a bit more nuance π₯²
That scene in the doctor office tho - realistic, but annoying as fucking. Whenever it's ASD, or elderly patient etc - doctors often talk about them as if they were not present in the room. And I get that sometime you need to present some information to the caretaker, or the patient is non-verbal or even when their cognitive abilities really deteriorated, you can still do it in a way that does not treat the other person like they don't exist.
Also what kind of astrological bullshit was: "Some autistic people are quick to detect vibrations from far off" π€£ I guess I kind of understand what he meant, but the way he put it it sounds way too mystical and supernatural for a healthcare provider π€‘
Wait... he does mean astrological bullshit, like they are literally talking about him hearing stars π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£ I get it, he is literally psychic, the mysticism of it is not the problem, it's the fact it's delivered by a doctor during a visit π€‘
Win is a fucking creep π
And not that motor scene giving Final Destination vibes π€£ And then the "chilling at home, I feel like something bad is about to happen".
Honestly question... can't they take sleeping pills that will knock them out of existence for one day π€‘
Ozone being scared of popping balloons and thunders - kind of relatable π₯² I have this fucking irrational fear of being struck by lightning, so when i need to walk my dog when it's about to rain with lightning or, it already rains and there are lightnings, I almost cry π I legit sometimes run back home.
DAMN THAT ENDING OF THE EPISODE! π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
And I am also 100% on board for straight rom-coms to have gay supporting/2nd couples I would LOVE to see that. And I think it's something that for sure should happen. But sadly the entertainment industry is run by money. And what sells is generic cliche straight romance.
Just because I would love BLs to have the same level of support and sponsors and production budget as BLs does not change the fact it is not how it is right now.
Under almost ever short kbl I see people complaining about how short it is, how low budget it is, how they wish we would get longer ones. But how can one achieve that without making the story more mainstream? I actually see it a bit similar to how rom-coms add 8746574897654 fucking different unnecessary plotlines because they want to make sure everyone can find something for themselves to like. It;s like no rom-com is just a romcom anymore, they all are also thriller, stalker or murder mystery. Why? Because that sells.
BL are NOT currently marketable in Korea. While you might have many creators that want to work on projects like that, you do not have many sponsors to invest. Why? Because this is a niche genre in Korea. Personally I rather have well produced, longer BL with a side straight couple, than 8 episodes long all 20 minutes long with limited budget. At least from time to time.
So you want complete separation? Straight rom-coms with just straight couples, and BLs with just gay couples and no dramas mixing?
Separating BLs and "straight" dramas provides dedicated spaces for different experiences and preferences. < and some people have preference of seeing both straight and gay romance as part of one story... I'm not saying remove BLs altogether. I'm saying some dramas can be straight romcom, some pure BL, and some can be both. It does not have to be one or the other.
I have no idea why, coz it;s not like this is what viewers even want π€£
