I love the genre overall, but there are some titles I did not vibe with: Lost and My Liberation Notes being two examples. I just could not connect with the setting, characters and these specific presentations.
Whenever someone finds a drama boring or not is extremely subjective anyway. For example, technically speaking all makjang dramas are fast paced and eventful, known to be there for pure entertainment - I find them painfully boring π and the actually quality of it makes no difference, I just cannot connect with them at all.
Conclusion - it's a drama that is hard to predict if you'll like it or not just based on the comments, because the same aspect that some people find boring and too slow, is what other users love.
Also, slow paced dramas are risky business for directors, writers and producers. It's harder to ignore aspects you don't like - the slow pacing makes you spend more time with them. Slower pacing often means less dynamic changes between the scenes, which means longer scenes, which means if you dislike a plotline or a character, you will be forced to watch their moments longer, which will make you like the drama less.
But these are just my ideas on why it might be Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Nam Cheong Mi acting all annoyed because she herself decided to give up on the opportunity. You can only balem yourself lol Working in the Academy seems like such a pain in the ass coz you need a perfect balance of rivalry and cooperation to make it work. And i think Cheong Mi will struggle with it a lot. Coz first she went full cooperation, giving up all her "good cards" not to cause any issues for others, but now she seems to be full "competition" mode, and it can hurt the Academy as a whole in a long run...
I think Seo Hye Jin was a great teacher in the past that cared about the education a lot, and now after years of working in the Academy she moved towards caring for the grades and sales. And Lee Jun Ho has still this, a bit naive idea about teaching. Like, choosing the poem for the free lecture because it's a good poem, and how she reminded him it's different from being good for sale. Hope they will dive deeper into these two different approaches and the disagreements that come from it.
Them waiting for the kids in the classroom gives me anxiety. From the preview I know the free class will not go well, so now I'm scared π
YESSSSSSSSSSS SHE IS BECOMING HUMAN AGAIN πππππππππππ
THE ENDING OF THE EPISODE MAKES ME SO HAPPY! π₯²π₯²π₯²π₯²
OMG AND THE NEXT EPISODE PREVIEW! Will she sign? I feel like she might. She only now started to be human again π
With slice of life, I usually know if it's "my type of drama" from episode 1-2, you just feel it π
Nothing wrong with not vibing with this one.
Also, as FL said herself - they are not quite colleagues, they are rivals. So when it's 1:1 it's fair, but when it's 2:1, not so much. The more support and spotlight one lecturer gets, the more they can "demand" in terms of organization and administration type of a deal. And the harder it is for the other teachers to make themselves better known, because the whole academy is associated with just one name - FL, and now also ML.
At first I thought the public school teacher is going to bring troubles, but now Cheong Mi gives me anxiety π€‘
From the preview, I think we will finally start to see Lee Jun Ho question the current trend of what is being taught in lecture classes - aka answers to predicted question. And honestly this is exactly what I want to see more. I do want this show to have a bit of an idealistic undertones, preferably with leads working with public school teachers to make it work for students, but I might be asking for too much π
FL's scene during her class when she tells the students not to analyze the text, just memorize the answer showed her is AWFUL light from educational standpoint.
watch from 3:16
It's a "love line" from variety show haaha
THEM FUCKING CLOSE UP OF HIS HANDS I CANNOT, THEY KNOW, THEY KNOW WE ARE SIMPING AND THEY ARE USING OUR WEAKNESS!
Damn she has a grip to ruin the shirt like that π€£ Also,,kind of want to do the same π€‘
Omg and the x-man reference when he covered her ears π€£
Oh no, they started to move the bag... I cannot play it anymore, I know there are condoms there ππ€‘
- Hey, about those con... Those con...
- "con"?
- You know those!
- "Con", what do you mean? Unicorns?
I fucking died π€£π€‘
Kim Tae Sung is so underdeveloped it's actually criminal and rude. I want him to be more than random hot dude that shows up for 10 minutes every episode. He deserves more π
I want to wake up next to a sleepy cute Song Geon Hee and him telling me in the sweetest way "good morning" π
Sol be like: Sun Jae. It's all over. We have a future now.
Me be like: Of course it's not, it's only episode 11 π€‘
A 22 years old does not even have their brain fully developed π€£
Well the difference is 43 and 23 is 20 years age gap, the couple in the drama only has 6 years age gap. No one says shit when a dude is 6 years older than FL in dramas so I have no idea where you got that info from.
Loving the show so far.
On the side not, yo... I would not mind the whole drama in black and white.
To be honest, I am not quite sure why she is so against him becoming lecturer. She must know a lot of lecturers are there for the money, some for the fame. It's not like his motivation is unique... Her whole reasoning is doing it for his future coz he has good office job. Girl, he is not a child anymore, he can make his own decisions. You were his teacher once, you are crossing the line here.
THE WAY A CHOCKED WHEN HE SLAMMED THAT HAND ON THE DASK DURING THE DEMO LESSON ππ₯π€‘
λ, λκ° π₯ Yo... yes. I mean dude knows how to make everyone pay attention to him π€£
Lee Jun Ho is what I want teachers to be. I love how he opens with saying the kids don't know how to study, but he will help them. Coz that's what teacher should do tbh, not just give the info and knowledge, but teach the kids how to learn so they can go ahead in life even without teach providing for them everything. Basically his whole demo lesson was about teach kids skill not giving them information.
"You get to think when you read, and when you think you get curious. When you get curious, you'll end up studying on your own" OMFG YES PREACH THIS OMG! π
Her being so against him is even weirder, coz he already quit his job π€‘ He is literally jobless now. Being a lecturer is better than having no job, no? π
The way he tried to explain to his parents the change of job, and with every line he just made it worse. The whole "Just think of it as me becoming a celebrity" I died π€£ And mother starting to puke when she heard that π€£
I love how he called her out. Yes.
I kind of like the cafe talk. She is right. She gave him facts and reality of the path he took, she addressed him not as friend, but as a future colleague. She clearly set a boundary of them not being teacher and former student with light interactions. Shit is going to be serious now. And her being so serious was a huge surprise for him. I honestly do not think he even comprehends how his work will be looking now and what he signed up for. Kind of wish she told him all that before he had the demo lesson. He has this romanticized idea of both her and her job, and he is going to be hit with reality fast...
Of course they want to make him the face of the academy. First of all her has a hot and handsome face so yeah. But also, his story is PERFECR for marketing lol I can already sense the drama that comes with him going ahead of Hye Jin tho π
SDKJFHSD OMG YES DOUBLE ATTACK, THAT';;S EVEN BETTER FOR MARKETTING! AMAZING YES, THANK YOU! LOVE IT.
This drama is so much fun π
