I don't agree with FL, i stand with the teacher. I understand that the question can be interpret diferently but…
Personally, I think the point is - they are both wrong and the source of their misconception is also the same - failed educational system.

While creaking a test, he should not be think about how to one-up the academy teachers with a surprising and confusing for kids questions, he should be thinking: how can I accurately check is my students learned everything they needed in my class. Wrong motivation while making a test leads to poorly constructed test with not clear answers.

So for her, it more about the whole academy system being a failure tbh. They are not teaching the kids skills, knowledge, they are teaching kids how to do well in tests by memorizing predicated answers. Shit like that long term makes people stupid, coz they don't know how to handle unexpected situations and any diversion from usual plan, which happens a lot in real life.

Why does this have "ex-lover relationship" and "exes reuniting" as tags? From what I can tell the leads did NOT…
tags can be about supporting characters too, or maybe she or he will reunite with ex, but then break up again. Who knows...

Your last point is sooo true. It's pretty wild how their entire education system is about memorizing stuff when…
Memorizing texts and answers are some of the worst learning and studying techniques... which give the best actual benefits in real life 🥲

can somebody explain the restaurant scene with he teacher, that was intense and i did no understand the context,…
I think he is going to do something, maybe some slander on the internet or something like that. He said he is prepared to the battle or whatever. The whole scene was intense as fuck. I think the whole situation just made his bias and prejudice towards the academy teachers stronger, so for now he "admitted" to his wrongdoings and shortcomings in making the test, but it's not the end of it all...
On The Midnight Romance in Hagwon May 11, 2024
Okay first of all the talk in the restaurant with the Korean teacher was so intense I get almost did not breath the whole time. You can feel the problems about to start big time with each and every word. Also, FL is amazing at teaching, not so great at reading people. Dude gave such a red flags that some shit is going to go down, and she was so casual sensing nothing 🥲

ASJHGDFSDGFHDSGJD WHEN HE ASKED HER TO CALL HIM 선생님 I FUCKING DIED! 🔥🔥🔥 I'm going to combust into flames because of this romance, I already know.

This drama is going to be so much fun, coz like... I'm actually against the private academies and how whole Korean educational system work, the obsession over tests and memorizing shit. They teach you how to solve exercises on the exam, not really how to think. Her short class presents it EXACTLY how it is - don't try to understand the author, don't try to analyze it, memorize! Which is so sad.

Review A Shop for Killers Spoiler
This review is exactly what i thought, the action scenes were great but they showed the same scenes over and over…
It's a fun short entertainment... Nothing more. 😅

It's sad people already judging the FL without truely knowing "her" as a character. I'm not judging you dear,…
My problem with people judging her at this moment is that these people EXPECT all female leads to be GOOD. < that's your assumption tho. I am judging her a lot, I do not expect my FLs to be all good. Unless you asked these people, you don't know what they want from all their female leads. Highly doubt anyone wants just one thing from all FLs. Sometimes we want cunning, sometimes we want good, sometimes we want gray, sometimes we want full villain.

Making sure your FL in a romance drama does not seem like a complete dick from the start and there is a strong sympathy point for audience to connect to is the set up I want, if they decide to make her actions this bad from the start. If it was a thriller or crime show, I would have less issue. But an angsty romance with supernatural elements? Making viewers connect to the characters is important, and seeing the comments, the writers obviously failed at it

we didn't get to know WHO she is and what really happened to her. < past trauma and being a victim in the past (which she obviously is) does not excuse her behavior right now. Being a victim does not mean you can create more victim with your shitty behavior.

Also, this drama centers as much around FL as the family. At least in said first episode I have seen, it was mostly about her and her point of view.

People have already began judging the FL even before knowing her < both good and bad. And yet only people who criticize her have their opinion being made invalid coz it's too early to judge. I don't see people saying she is an interesting character getting questioned about their opinion. \

Most of my favorite dramas are character driven, I love good character development story, but you need a good set up for it. And I think the drama failed with the set up for the FL.

The hurt in My Mister is real. This show broke many.

As for My Dearest - I was obsessed with this show. Don't know if you are using Feeds on MDL, but I basically created a small cult around the show there, when it was airing 😅

The thing is, I kept changing my mind about how genuine she is even while watching first episode. Because she did seem genuine in a number of scenes there. But that's kind of how pro conmen are able to con people 🤡 If she was obviously fake with her interactions, she would not be able to scam anyone.

There is quite a variety of genres in my top shows, but some titles that come to my mind: Coffee Prince, Hospital Playlist, My Dearest, My Mister, One Day Off, Prison Playbook, Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People, Signal, SKY Castle, The Guest, Three-Body, Work Later, Drink Now.

So just from some of my 10s, there are silly rom-coms, slice of life, sci-fi, crime, historical, fancy makjang and comedy 😅

Leverage wise I only saw the Korean remake, which was... a decent drama, had quite a lot of fun watching. But then, they did not involve kids so 😅

I'm perfectly fine with violent shows, horror is my favorite genre 🤣 but I actually dropped Taxi Driver. Now that I think about it, it might be for the same reason I am not vibing with this show. Both show have rather exaggerated over the top characters. Taxi Driver had over the top characters, this has exaggerated stereotypes of characters (presentation of their struggles). the lack of realism in that aspect makes me disconnect from what I am watching, if the show overall tackles serious topics...
On The Atypical Family May 6, 2024
Personally - dropping. I only saw episode 1, but it did not really make me want to watch episode 2. Planty dramas in the sea to pick from that will grab my interest from the start.

That said, people are free to criticize and dislike or even hate characters. Be it after 1 episode, 5 episodes or 16 episodes. If people should not be judging the drama and the character so early, then the same goes for people liking and enjoying it - you should not be writing how great it is. It's either fine to judge the show both negatively and positively, or neither. Sorry guys, you cannot have a cookie and eat the cooking.

At some point there were more comment here complaining about others complaining, than the actually "hating FL" comments. The difference is - people who criticize and dislike FL are disliking a fictional characters. While these who criticize and "call out" people who dislike FL, criticize and dislike real life people. For a silly opinion on a silly drama with mediocre writing. Priorities guys, think about them.

yeah great assumption, literally did not watch either Taxi Driver or Cafe Minamdang 👍🏻 that kind of tells me this conversation is not productive. You are operating on your own theories of what will happen in the show (as you yourself said) and assume a lot on my end without me ever saying it. Could have asked for titles of the shows I have seen, instead of assuming what I must have watched.

Just because by the end she will love the child and protect her, does not mean her initial intentions were supposed to lead to extremely psychological damage. Just because she will not finish her plan, does not mean she did not already take actions to put it in motion. Intentions matter, both morally and legally.

And her actions have gone above and beyond just getting the daughter to like her, or the father. < no it did not. All she did was give her food and told the dad the teddy bear ain't good present for middle schooler. Perfectly in line with trying to get close to a kid so they can open the door for her to scam the whole family. Don't know how you treat kids, but she truly did barely anything here so far that would show any sincere emotions towards the kid.

My biggest point is - they did shitty job with introducing her as a character. So far she is not interesting gray character, she is just a dick. Maybe I did not have a chance to watch them, but so far I have not seen a con artists drama/movie where the ML targeted the kid just for money coz they are poor and want more. They usually make MLs either target assholes, or give a solid reason why a kid is involved beyond money.

At the end of the day, whenever someone sees her as evil or not is a matter od SUBJECTIVE opinion, not objective facts. Hence people have the right to call her evil if that's how they judge her. Since my "crossing the line" scenerio is when kids are being used and involved just for monetary reasons, for me she and her family are evil. And they writer need to give some really strong and executed character development for me to like her by the end.

What does this being common in tv have to do with people having the right to dislike FL? Also, common tropes can be executed with different level of quality. It's not comparing A to A.

She wants the girl to like her, to form a close bond to her and get to the dad through the kid, so then she can dry the family from all the money and leave. Which would at the end hurt the kid the most. She already lost one mother, and now FL is planning to make her lose another mother figure.

There is absolutely zero way to know what the FL's true intentions are at this point. < I am judging her intentions by what she herself said in episode 1 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The FL character isn't that TOO MUCH evil < it's subjective not objective. Personally anyone willing to hurt a child (which she is planning to do) for their own benefit makes them evil to the core ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At times people hate FLs for no good reasons. Here they have perfectly valid reason. It's not the same.

Also, the same people who "protect" this fictional female character from hate are the ones who bash the good hearted "stereotypical" female leads. One cannot preach when they commit the same mistakes they are trying to fight against.

As for the comments with capslocks, maybe they exist somewhere DOWN this comment section, but as of now, majority of people are complaining about others complaining.

Or I can keep watching, since the whole drama has more things in it than just the female lead (like I want to see the progress in the family itself) while also keep complaining about that one aspect I dislike, aka female lead. It's not that deep 👍🏻

Literally scrolling down I saw like 2-3 comments actually complaining about FL, and a sea of people complaining about people complaining 🤡

People are allowed to dislike FL and write about it in comments. Instead of telling people to drop the drama, you can stop reading comment sections, if people disliking a fictional character bothers you this much.
