I'm literally jumping from excitement and crying while watching the full trailer. It's so emotional to see their individual hardships and finding happiness together with their new found family. The way the actors recreated the scenes from BTS members and Mikrokosmos playing gave me goosebumps. They will also use BTS songs in the drama and maybe BTS will have a new OST for it too? This kdrama adaptation was announced since 2019 and I can't believe how it took them 4 years to release it. My guess was right, they'll release it when all BTS members are enlisting in the military. I keep saying this, I can't wait anymore! I'm so ready for this drama. I actually like that they changed the title. Honestly, I'm not fond of common one word titles and "Begins â Youth" has more impact.
âThis is the beginning. An unknown but familiar, endless start.â
Wow "Boston 1947" đ I've said this before, Korean cinema is truly absolutely excellent for their countless true to life stories. This movie is a masterpiece that shows the historical beginning of Korean sports, specifically during Boston International Marathon where Koreans fought to bring their country's name to the world for the first time after the World War II and Japanese colonization. This movie is so incredible and remarkable that I felt a huge pride while watching it. I rooted so hard for them from the start for their unwavering passion and patriotism, then I clapped and cried so hard for their marvelous victory. And as always, in their emotional ending where they give commemoration to the real people and their journey. I'm actually so glad that they've lived a long life. Salute to these ordinary yet brilliant people who became heroes and made a lifetime honor to their small yet vast country đ
"Rebound" is such a special sports movie based on a true story about a young 25 year old coach who was a former basketball player that made a new team and recruited various players. They have their own skills, yet they started off weak and learned to be strong with their perseverance. It's really amazing to see them working hard as a team despite having less members and short experience. It's so inspiring how these underdogs fought and managed to succeed, along with the help of a genuine coach on their side who keeps encouraging them. I didn't expect to cry so much in the ending... I've said this before, the best thing about true to life Korean movies is for their endings where they show the real people and how their lives goes on. The story of this basketball team is so emotional yet uplifting. I'm so proud of them for reaching their dreams and having an impactful journey together.
The first episodes really made my blood boil. It's utterly unbelievable how one innocent girl got horribly dragged and ended by all evil connected. But I love episode 5-6 when they were stuck in a strange island. I love how this thriller makjang drama turned into a fantasy, disaster, horror, hunger games. I couldn't stop laughing, it was so fun and amazing to watch them. Those evil people really deserves to experience all the brutal and disgusting things with no way out.
I was loving the revenge plot and how the group is continuously suffering while blaming and backstabbing each other. BUT then the plot twist happened and it ruined everything. They just erased the girl and the purpose of the revenge lose its meaning. This drama just showed how evil people are and I hate how it feels like they tried to glorify it. I'm glad the group suffered, but they never had any proper punishments and the root of it all still got a lot of time to spare while playing with everyone. It's maddening how he got all power to succeed. That was extremely heinous. He deserves more extreme pain than anyone.
"The Escape of the Seven: War for Survival" is one of the worst kdramas that I want to forget and act like it never existed.
Wow "Vigilante" is a very very satisfying thriller drama! My favorite trope is revenge and my favorite character is antihero. I love how this drama showed the main lead succeeding on his goals to avenge and punish so many criminals. I didn't really mind some parts with those annoying journalists and police, and I'm glad the Vigilante knows how to deal with it. Even though he takes more risk by not fully hiding his self, he always moves wisely and carefully with his plans, as if he's a modern ninja. I know murder is wrong, but those bad people who still keeps getting away from their crimes deserves it. I really support the Vigilante. Although, the downside of his actions is influencing the copycats to do the same or who just wants attention which tarnishes the reputation of the original Vigilante and interrupts his own plans. It's intriguing how the plot unfolds and how different kinds of characters are appearing on his side.
One of the things I love about Kdramas is their first episodes that shows the backstory or childhood of the main characters. These parts are really the most emotional and unforgettable that hits my heartstrings. And personally, I love tropes about running away. In "Castaway Diva", the main characters were planning to run away from their abusive parents. I was rooting so hard for them, but it was unfortunate. I cried so much for them.
Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed since I expected that this drama will show the main lead's life and survival while being stuck in a deserted island. But they only showed at least 5 minutes of it. They didn't even show her actual arrival and growing to the new environment. It was an instant timeskip when she grew up as an adult. And in the next episodes, it was only short flashbacks. I wish they made it longer and gave 1 episode for the island part.
But overall, this drama is amazing. So far, so good. The bond between the fan and her idol is unique. Honestly, the lip syncing part throws me off, but they eventually got rid of it. It's interesting to see how the main lead is back to society after 15 long years, trying to find the people from her past and meeting new people on her journey. It's inspiring how she's reaching for her childhood dreams. It's never too late to start.
"Daily Dose of Sunshine" is a deeply meaningful drama. It's overwhelmingly emotional and it really hit the most sensitive part of my heart. I specifically could relate to episode 2 and honestly, that was the representation of my highschool life, so it made me cry so hard. Then I cried even harder and painfully throughout episode 7. The plot twist in episode 8 broke me, but I also felt annoyed. She really deserves a break and one week wasn't even that long. I didn't like how people couldn't understand her, they kept on forcing and pushing her which actually led her to her limit. They could have just given her more time and respected her space. But I guess it's also about the sooner, the better. I really feel bad for everyone who's suffering different kinds of illnesses in their life, but I'm glad this drama showed a positive side on their battles. It's never easy, but there's hope out there, even a small ray of sunshine is enough. Having someone on your side to understand you and getting the help you need are so important.
I also like the romance part in this drama with the main and supporting characters. It's the right amount of it to the plot. It's related to mental health issues regarding self esteem, insecurity and inferiority complex that came from their past scars and trauma which affects their relationship to other people. It was interesting to see their growth, how they overcome it and managed to connect with each other.
âI still believe that traveling is a foolâs paradise. Itâs not all that fun or meaningful. After wandering without a purpose, there are only fleeting moments of clarity. One, two, three. But thatâs what makes it fun. So if you feel like disappearing, take yourself out. If youâre all alone, in a strange place, and donât feel brave enough, then make it last just one day. If you can walk, eat, and let your mind wander, youâd be fine anywhere.â
"One Day Off" is one of my favorite dramas that is so special to me. It really gave me comfort, peace, freedom and just showed me how simply beautiful life is. And as a shy introvert who always stays at home, this drama gave me inspiration to travel. One of my dreams is to go on an adventure and I have yet to achieve it. Someday, I will.
PS. One of the reasons why I want to travel and go on an adventure is so I could meet my soulmate. I believe in that kind of fate. But in this drama, the unfulfilled romance made me feel empty. But the special connection and memories they made in a short period of time is already precious.
Yang Sejong used to be my favorite actor 5 years ago... But now I don't feel attracted to him anymore. Maybe because he's playing a lame character in this drama or there are just new better actors appearing...
Kinda random but I dreamed about Lee Minsoo and Gang Namsoon becoming lovers.
Minsoo was in an alley while wearing a black cap. It looks like he was hiding for a secret mission and trying to wait for someone. Then Namsoon appeared and he approached her. They talked to each other and then he kissed her. After it, they started walking in the street like a couple. That's when my dream ended. LOL.
Apocalyptic genre is one of my favorite genres since it's exciting and thrilling, but "Concrete Utopia" gave me a completely different feeling. The storyline and settings shows the aftermath of a huge disaster and how people are trying to continue their lives in a dark new world. It has a cold and eerie atmosphere that made me feel nervous and uncomfortable while watching from the start since I already know that something worse is gonna happen. It's slowpaced so some viewers might find it boring, but for me, this is the kind of realistic movie that makes me feel like I was part of their world. It also made me think what if this happens in real life.
After the earthquake, there is only one building left that strongly stood still and the survivors are staying there. Honestly, I was on the residents' side. I know the outsiders are just trying to seek shelter, but they also feel like a parasite who invades the real owners' home. So I understand if the residents have to take measures on their hands and kicked them out. It's so interesting to see how the residents worked hard to be organized and they all united together while building their own little society inside their apartment complex. I love their harmony. I was rooting so much for them and I wanted them to stay stable for a long time, until the truth about their leader was revealed. As the time goes by, he's eventually getting corrupted by greed from the praises of residents who looks up to him. His followers are also getting blinded with their faith for him. Everyone are willing to do anything to maintain the balance in their own "utopia" that they've build, away from the outsiders.
Compared to the leader's followers, the female lead is more "humane" who gives compassion and help to the outsiders who are hiding. I actually like that she's kind, along with the other residents who let the harmless outsiders in their homes. But honestly, the female lead is out of touch with their world and she doesn't realize that it has become different. It's now all about survival and you can easily lose anything. I know she tried to do what's right by exposing their leader, but I really find her annoying at that scene. She should have pick a better timing to deal with it. It ended up causing a disaster and it also made their residents lose their focus and guard when the sudden attack by the outsiders overflown them. The leader's death actually made me sad, especially with how he tried to keep his strength while walking all the way to his room and still thinking of their "utopia" until his last moment.
I didn't really feel the husband and wife relationship between the male lead and female lead, but around the ending when they managed to run away from the chaos in their apartment complex and found a new place to stay, that's when the emotions hit me. For me, that was one of the saddest ending ever. Imagine sleeping together with your loved one, and only you woke up... That made me cry so much. But the ending wasn't all sad, they also gave an optimistic side. After all the darkness, they showed a ray of light to the female lead for meeting new and better people. On her new journey to live in reality and no longer in utopia.
Why did I only found out now that Midnight Sun is having a Korean remake?! I got excited after I saw the title here in MDL, but when I saw the cast, I'm dissapointed tbh.
Edit: I love this movie and the cast did a great job. The lead actress has a beautiful voice and the songs touched my heart.
I hope my hint is correct , I just read it from some thread but I Wish this will become true. I think Athletes…
Oh Jungse is older. I think he's not part of the athletes, but he's going to be their leader when they join the police. He's the one who's going to guide and help the rookies.
I've read the webtoon years ago before the drama was made, but I haven't finish it since I didn't have time. Can someone tell me what happened in the webtoon and what are the changes in the drama?
kdramas have been getting shorter and shorter since last year.
I noticed the shorter kdramas are usually adaptations from webtoons or novels. It's understandable since maybe the source material is just lesser and couldn't fit for long episodes.
(And OTT platforms has been producing more original dramas, they're generally shorter compared to TV dramas.)
"Behind Your Touch" is definitely one of the best comedy kdramas! Before I watched this drama, I thought the main lead's ability is reading the animals' thoughts, but it's actually seeing both the animals' and people's memories. Presented in a surprising and weird way - by touching their butts, which forces her to be seen as a pervert lol. It's filled with funny moments and effects that made me laugh so much. Another highlight in this drama is the constant references to "Twenty Five Twenty One" and "My Liberation Notes". The supporting characters also managed to stand out with their own fun antics. And for the mystery part, I didn't expect who the real culprit is, despite showing an obvious scene with him. The reveal kinda caught me off guard and his ability is even cooler than the female lead. In the ending, I like how the female lead had embodied her ability and continues to help doing missions with the police. The humor and craziness in this drama is really on another level.
PS. This is probably the first time I saw a woman being a pervert then the man didn't think twice to confront and attack her (self defense). It might be weird, but that was honestly refreshing.
"The Kidnapping Day" is such a unique drama and it's one of the best dark comedy that I enjoyed. The twist is really amazing. I've watched a lot of dramas, but I've never imagined to see an 11 year old girl and adult man in a kidnapping situation to create a great dynamic. I love how natural their interactions are and the effortless humor between them is amusing. The other thing I love in this drama is for having the rare time where I don't find the supporting character police as annoying. Instead of immediately labeling the male lead as criminal and obsessing of catching him, he's actually using critical thinking skills and understanding the situation. He was the first one to realize that it's not the typical kidnapping case and the girl is actually the one leading the kidnapper. It's interesting to see the development of the relationship between the girl and man, from kidnapping to fake family to partners in crime. It keeps me wanting to see more of their adventure while forming a special bond and using their own skills against the people chasing after them. This drama is satisfying enough, but the credit ending scene surprised me. So there's more to their experiments and I hope they make a season 2 for it. I would love to see more teamwork between the girl and man.
Isn't ENA a new channel? They only started last year, but despite being new, they had one of the biggest hit dramas which was "Extraordinary Attorney Woo". I haven't watch "Evilive" yet, but seeing the 0% ratings kinda makes me sad. Hopefully, they gain more viewers again. (Cable channels usually have lower ratings and dramas from other networks are just very less popular compared to the Big5.)
Kinda random, but I really want BTS' short films to be added on this website. HYYH on stage : prologue, Wings, Love Yourself Highlight Reels. I guess that's impossible, but I noticed even their short videos from YouTube is included here, so maybe it can?
PS. Their VCR from their Musters too. Like Magic Shop and Memory Clouds Factory that are like short films.
