The problem is that FL was not mature enough to know right away, at his change of heart, on that very moment, that something was off and immediatly piece things together because Shen Du is head of imperial guard and she already knew what this implies.

To me that scene shows that FL does stupid things and loses her temper when it is about her love life.
It would have been Princess Yong An in this situation, she would have played along will Shen Du on the spot. What apologies, no, it was a play.

If he wants to do romance. He should pick only dramas like "the double", in which there is only sexual tension and absolutly no kisses.

I don't think ML needed to ask for forgiveness because it is a spygame. This needed to be done . ML had to go under deep cover. FL was not mature enough to understand him at first glance. (She was sulking and childish the all drama, perstering ML with daily bickering)
