Meanwhile, SML went the palace to kidnap FL and SFL did not know it until episode 13. She ins now pissed.

I am not sure Na Zhan can love someone. He is more into using people.

I don't know if he decided not to help. We only see that :
1 - the eunuch tells him that the ladies from Masui are at the gate of Tanpui.
2 - we see a rain of arrows going down on the ladies of Masui.
This is a puzzle. There are missing pieces.
So we have to watch thirther to know if, as you supposed : he "decided not to help".
My guess he tried to help but was stopped in some way. I will have to confirm that.
I this case, he would not be guilty.

Oh thank you. I did not know him before "love of nirvana".
However, I previously heard of his retirement from the news.
But, when I watched LON I felt sad and desperate to watch his best works because he was killin it in this drama as Pei Yan.
He was so good, that he made me like Pei Yan who is an obsessive villain. Instead of hating the character, I understood him and sometimes felt bad for him.
I had to thank Jeremy Tsui's acting for that.
He is marvellous.

I agree with you, sometimes glares/ hughs are better than kisses. They should have avoided the kisses because it looked bad.
Or they shoud have cut before ML approaches FL's face.
That way it would have been better that the swing kiss with tracking out , wide shot.
I am sorry but it did not look good at all. It seemed fake, worst ridiculous.
It reminded me of the infamous kiss of the lovebirds. I don't remember the drama's name.
And I am very very sorry because I liked Ren Jia Lun's acting, playing Wei Zhao.

My theory : the new city lord of Masui is Na Zhan's subordinates.
Evidently, he doesn't want to attack the city of Masui because he already owns it !

Now I Think about Tanpui. Did Na Zhan's subordinates infiltrate the city of Tanpui?
It is more than likely.
Did Na Zhan scouts and spies have something to do with the launch of the arrows strike that killed FL's mother?

Some of my fellow MDL members are sure that ML is responsible for the death of FL's mother.
We still don't know but I don't believe he is.

I could not be so specific like you are, because I don't know what are the shackles. I'll wait and watch. But I am pretty sure, he is not responsible.
I think he feels guilty because he is a virtuous character who wants to take the fall because he is the city lord of Tanpui.
Being a c-drama, I don't expect him to be the culprit, the main antagonist ( Na Zhan or one of his subordinates or competitors whe still haven't seen ) could be the real culprit.

Think about it . They sent arrows from Tanpui city gate, but :
- Why was ML wanderering in the desert alone and almost dead of thirst?
- Why is ML out of his city? He is supposed to be the city lord, so why?
- Why until now, we are mid season, ML still has not came back to Tanpui?

If he was so in control of everything in his city, I think that we would have seen him already in his city.

- Why does a city lord become a BOA chief ?
This is weird. If he was so in control, why is he the chef of spies in the desert?
