I also like constructive debates and not fan wars.
As for the romance, it is true that it first started because of an aphrodisiac drug. So the se*ual intimacy was shown before any love connection or romance have been ignated.
In terms of narrative this is something that I can understand.
In terms of writing, there is a lot of se*ual harassement/ tension in this show. The women's se*uality is a bargaining ship. It can be exchanged as a payment or as a reward for victory. Which I dislike a lot.
Meanwhile, the rapists are glamorized (Ruo Wen), the (victims) women 's characters are simplified (Ge Xin Wei : childish and violent).
As a result, I would say that, se* is emphasied more than romance in this drama, until episode 8 ( at least).
From episode 9, I start seeing some romantic scenes between the leads and I hope that the tendency will change.


Yes, Ruo Wen is not a deep and complicated character. He seems more like a simple villain for now. His portrayal is the same as one of a beast who takes everything he wants, whenever he wants it. In this regards, he acts exactly like his leading lady, the SFL, Ge Xin Wei.
I hope they get character development because until now, they don't seem to change.


The pacing was fast in the beginning and it took a lot of episodes to understand the intrigue. Yes, it coud have been shorter because with 26 episodes they normally don't wast time to show the plot points, especially at the very beginning.
However, I was so in love with the desert setting that I forgive them.
In my opinion rushing to the Yunpei palace and skipping those desert scenes would have been a pity because I don't know if the rest of the show will take place in Yunpei palace or Tiandu palace (I don't forget that Yun is Tiandu's city lord)

I am enjoying the show so far. The leads are marvelous and I like their chemistry.

LOL indeed. He is the kind of toxic guy she might like.
At first she did not look like an antagonist but I think that she can easily turn into one.

I cannot understand why SFL is infatuated with her rapist.
She behaves like an animal : the first served is her one and only man. I don't like her way of thinking nor her kind of childish / violent behaviours. She is a time bomb.
This is how the writers chose to portray her while they glamorized her rapist, Ruo Wen.
Until now, he seems to have a good image, exept for the killings.
He is not the only one, there are a lot of rapists in this show because some other men wanted to have her as a payment.

This drama is just so dreamy. The setting and the story are gorgeous.
It is only 24 episodes so I guess it will not be draggy. I like it so far and wish we had 2 episodes a day.

Shen Du did not loose his momentum.

I don't think Shen Du lost his momentum on the second half of the the drama.
It was only a trap from the Dowager => As she was promoting Yan Xing, she was demoting Shen Du in order to drive a wedge between them.
Shen Du indeed could not be the same as he was in the first episode.
He did not lose his momentum, he was a victim of harassment in the workplace.

I agree. The leads seem to have broken up in a way in the lastests episodes. But when I realized FL had the Yueluo type of engagement flower in her hair. It gave me hope.(^_^)

In the begining I thought about that too. But next I saw that the strategist brought back the tiger token to the emperor thank to Wei Zhao. So Now I changed my opinion on this boy.

Exactly. He wants to have her so much. That girl will not stand it in my opinion. She only has to disclose FL's identity to Yunpei lord and FL will be threaten to death.

LOL This is funny, there is so much infos in each episodes. I always keep hope for the characters. I wish the boy is alive.

I think that, yes, the emperor might have learned about consort Wei's spying.
But I sense that her child survived.
It might be the young boy by general Lu Y's side that we saw earlier.
I don't think that the identity of Wei Zhao is known by the emperor. It would have been 20 years of keeping a spy by his side. I don't buy it.

That would be great but I get the feeling that she abide by the law of the jungle. Ruo Wen is obsessed with FL and I fear that she will be willing to fight FL in duel to get the guy.

Ge Xin Wei's type of love is kind of violent. She will hurt Female Lead someday because of Ruo Wen, I can feel it.

I think there is a missing piece. Her shifu must have prepared for her in case she dies. She knew she was going on a deadly mission, there might by something she left, to give JC peace in case she died.

It s like their masks have super powers. You can recognize them at all.

She is the jealous type. She will cause some drama to FL. I hope Ruo Wen settle with her and leaves FL in peace.

I did not notice the length because it is so well paced.
