It is to early to say it after 5 episodes. There are just the exposition scenes. But I sense that it will be a good drama. 8 episodes already aired, I have to catch up. The cinematography is beautuful so far. It is promising.

I am on ep 4 and the story is not completly settled yet. In my opinion there will be power stuggles and treasure hunt. And SML will be obssessed with FL, I can sense it.

I don't understand why the shifu colluded with Madam Pei?
The Shifu had so much hatred against the emperor that she dumbly followed Madam's plan.
Which led to her death.
To me, the shifu should have never colluded with the antagonist.
Wei Zhao tried to make her find the truth via the investigation but she never let go of her bias against Xiao family an d the emperor.
She then became an easy prey for Madam Pei. The shifu had it coming.

Jiang Ci used to wear stone jewellery but after the flower banquet she only wears red flowers jewellery on her hair. => big love connection with her beloved.
The master was full of hatred.

You are right. They worked well together. But going against each other by keeping each other's agenda secret is not the solution.

I also would like them to be together but I fear SML's mother and the emperor. Moreover I fear for her master's life now because she is colluding with Madam Pei. Nothing good can come from that.
So a this point they cannot be together.

In the middle of a spygame ML cannot afford to show any weakness that could jeopardize his quest for revenge and thus the investigation.
This is why he never confessed to FL and he keeps any attempt of getting close to her a secret.
Displaying affection and performing kisses is a NO GO in this particular case.
Both leads are already in danger, the situation could worsen if someone knows about it. And FL is completely lost and does not understand everything anyway.

To me given the context the romance is more than satisfactory because I hope that ML survives in the end.
