I agree with you from Duke Su point of view. He has no love interest apart from Xue Fang Fei.
But I think that Xue Fei Fang Fei is in a love battle.
What about the unrequited love from her cousin Ye Shi Jie?
What about the obsessive desire of her former childhood fiancé Zhou Yan Bang ?
What about the sadistic manipulative obsession of her widower Shen Yu Rong?
Of course we have the sweet romance blooming between her and Duke Su.
Isn't it a love square?
At some point of time, I almost thought that this was a reversed-harem drama.
Because everybody is in love with her ^^

He had already heard about her. And when he saw her for the first time. He was clearly attracted to her. What a beautyful gaze.

Tantai Jin started growing "love threads" when he was restrained by ropes and Ye Xiwu slept on his lap. So that the moment he started to fall in love with her.

I think that Ye Xiwu fell in love with him when he was king and she wanted to seduce him. She fell into her own trap. I remember that she wondered if she was crazy. And later, the fox Pian Ran noticed it and teased her for being in love with him.

Mirroring scenes :

Ming Ye is rescued after the battle in his primary shape by Sang Jiu. She guards him and heals him in a kitchen tool with herbs. We see that Ming Ye is cultivating. Then he comes back in his man shape.

The last image of the drama showes Li Su Su keeping the Heart Guarding Scale in her hand. Tantai Jin appears in it. And he is also cultivating .

I guess, this means that one day like Ming Ye, Tantai Jin will appear as an immortal in his orginal state. So Li Su Su waits for his return.
Those two scenes are identical.

This is also a happy ending. Tantai Jin never became a god of evil of the 4 continents and 3 realms because he never completed the process of surendering himself to evil. He was still Tantai Jin till the very end.

The Only godess in the end is Su Su because she want throught the "heartless way" completely and thus broke throught Nirvana and was reunited with all the deceased gods and godesses who perished durind the last coming of the evil god of 3 realms ans 4 continents.

gods dont reincarnate once dead. But Tantail Jin broke his devine essence before desappearing so he died as a mortal maint to reincarnate.

Su Su now is a godess and she knows everything. This is why at the very end she waits for him to comeback.

I suppose Gongye Ji Wu was jealous of Tantai Jin because he was loved by Li Su Su and saved by her. And at that exact moment Mo Nv confessed that she was not a mortal but an evil spirit and that she was previously married to Xiao Lin in mortal realm. But as he was not Xiao Lin, she decided not to persue their romance and left him.

I was suprised when he reproched her that she was telling him the truth and that she should have kept lying. This is where I understood that Ji Wu was not completely a good person.

Maybe he thought that it was not fair that the devil fetus Tatai jin had the love of a girl to good for him when he couldn't have it being an immortal?

This not a sad ending. In the novel they reunite. So this is probably why this is not a sad ending.

I think that it feels like a remake because generaly speaking : the charateres envolve like in "follow your art". But the situations are differents and there is more characters in FYH.
