Don't get me wrong. I am at episode 15 and I think LX's character is overrated. He doesn't talk much and behaves…
to be honest, I shared the same opinion about LiXun in the first 7 or so episodes. I thought he was just the typical cliche ML, you know the handsome guy who gets away with being arrogant, the 'lone wolf' vibe etc etc. So I totally get where you're coming from. I used to comment here before saying LiXun would have problems when he gets older and have to work with others in real adult setting. You have to really see this drama in totality to appreciate and really understand the characters.
I think the one thing that put off a few viewers is that they really started LiXun's character as if it was a cliche. The blonde, handsome, arrogant, genius boy blah blah, we saw girls squealing and pining for him and him being snarky all the time. Had we not started with the first episode (present time), I probably would have dropped this too. The thing is, this story is mostly about LiXun but from ZhuYun's pov. ZhuYun holds some prejudice against him in the beginning and thus most of the narrative is really how ZY sees him. And then, as ZY falls in love we also gradually see the different side of LX.
When I look back now, I don't think LiXun is cliche at all, neither does he fit the typical cold ML character. He does also know how to get along with others, we just really didn't see a lot of from his pov. He's not a very closed off person in my opinion, he confides things to RenDi and FuYiZhou. Also the fact that HouNing knows about his whole life story, and how he discussed a lot with Director Dong, he jokes around with his colleagues. And random example, how LuSiSi was with him together at the bus stop after he snapped at her lol. I think it is evidence that he knows how to interact with others too.
Because all we see is ZY pov then, when he bosses their classmates around, ask them to pick up things for him etc etc. These things were seen with prejudice filter. I don't think the classmates would have stayed in the group if he was truly as unbearable as how he was projected in the beginning.
Back at 8.7 haha knew it might happen since there aren’t as many people actively eating now so every rating…
I think it's fine this way. This drama's growth and popularity was truly organic. I'm glad it was not hyped in the beginning, I'm glad that they were also not big stars with crazy fandoms. It made it more endearing for me, and I think it's also due to this fact I feel extra proud and protective of FeiYu and JingYi.
I still haven't seen any subbed version of the special episode. To those who have seen it, I have a question : Is that proposal supposed to be at dawn? Because they were wearing the same clothes when they registered their marriage. A bit weird if they registered first then LiXun proposed at night.😂
I saw FeiYu and JingYi both posted their farewell message to the drama. I hope someone can translate 🥲🙏 It's definitely bittersweet seeing the cast officially bid farewell to the drama.
so I saw a post from Youku, Netflix is confirmed next year, I hope it is around Q1. I'm not positive that it will be available for all region, but I'm willing to pay for VPN lol
The scene where LX gave ZY roses is actually the congratulatory bouquet given by Feiyu to jingyi...on jingyi's…
No, I know that bouquet he gave her, she posted it on IG. There is a another pic of them with red roses, it's not in a bouquet, it was around 5 or so individual roses. :)
yaaaaay 8.8 and now ranked 102nd!! still waiting for the bonus clips.. so far, based on the BTS, I noticed scenes that didn't make it to the final cut : 1) the proposal scene 2) there is also a scene of them eating inside LX's apartment during their college days 3) not sure if it's for promo pic, but there is one where LX gave ZY red roses
Ah poster looks good unfortunately I don't like the actor playing the ml
To be fair, when I first saw Luo YunXi in Ashes of Love, I thought he looks kinda wimpy. But I was blown away by his acting, he's now one of my favorite C-drama actors. I do wished he bulked up a bit, but that is one sensitive topic that I guess should not be talked about. Acting wise, I'm pretty sure he will deliver the role of TTJ excellently.
If chen fei yu amd zhang jingyi are again casted in l and p movie version i guess there would be a plot change…
As long as they keep the core of the story and stay consistent with the characters, I don't really care what they do. I just want to see FeiYu and JingYi as LiXun and ZhuYun again.
I must admit I didn't find her a stunning beauty at first, but something about the way she carries herself is so endearing. Now the longer you look at her the more beautiful she becomes. She has unique features compared to other Chinese actresses. She's a very good actress and her acting is very natural. Now that I think of it, it's really great how unassuming her first impression gives. She doesn't come with any baggage, there is no pre-judgement or any expectations when you see her. But she's like a hidden gem that is covered in layers, the more you watch her, the more layers are peeled and the more you appreciate her. :)
