I just watched the first episode and I'm actually excited to watch this story again lol. I know this story is…
What do you mean by older China version? I think there is only one version by China, isn't it?
On F4 Thailand: Boys over Flowers Dec 19, 2021
I finally managed to watch the first episode. I'm glad they didn't follow the usual lakorn style which I often find cringey. They added realism to the script about the whole bullying aspect, I appreciate this a lot in comparison to other version where I felt they had to over exaggerate to build a context on what is happening to the school and what kind of power F4 holds. And I feel like they put more heart and reasoning on every scene rather than just inserting random clips for comic relief.

I still don't like that they only release 1 ep per week. There are so many good dramas released lately that I feel like I would end up losing interest in this.

So far if I rank the adaptations, I'd still pick the following order :
1) Meteor Garden (Taiwan) - this is the OG, I'll probably find it cringey and problematic if I rewatch this now but nothing can replace the feels it brought me during the time it was originally aired.

2) Hana Yori Dango (Japan) - probably the most canon adaptation

3) BOF (Korea) - their adaptation is not perfect but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

4) Meteor Garden (China) - I hated this. I had so much excitement in the beginning but it was disappointing. They lost the magic/essence of this story with all the changes they added.

Let's see how F4 Thailand will compare to the rest.

Its a marketing strategy. If they release all eps at once people would talk about it for a week or two, and thats…
Yes, but that is only if it can live up to expectation and really build up each week. I've seem many other dramas that lost steam along the way.
I personally would more likely continue watching a series with a couple of boring eps if all the episodes are released, unlike if I have to wait another week to see if it gets better.

See how strategies for Netflix works (ex Squid Game), within one day you can judge the entirety of the show and ratings gets released . If it 's overall good it will trend and people (even those who do not have this in their radar) will get curious. Even if some parts are boring, viewers will stick with it to see what the hype is about.
For local, I totally get the 1 ep per week strategy. But it they want to hit international (where Thai Dramas and actors are still unknown to majority) , imho they shld change it up a bit. Strike while the iron is hot. :)

They should have at least aired two episodes per week..
They could earn the same regardless of dropping all eps thru subsequent streams in YT or other platforms. What's important is not to lose momentum and viewers getting bored and dropping halfway thru (which is more likely to happen with slow updates).
I just hope this show does well and get some recognition.

Yes, I hope they change strategy. I know they are targetting international market with this, but unless it is super amazing and they can keep the momentum in every single episode, all it takes is one boring episode/week and casual viewers will drop this.

Actually better if they can release episodes in bulk per week or in one go, so viewers can binge. If it's even half good as expectations it will for sure trend and they will get more streams later on.

I rewatched nah he is alive, watching 15 last mins her friend from ep 1 and 2 was recovering and he was in very…
haha I know, I also felt bad that that scene gave me that vibes, and I saw that it wasn't just me. Nonetheless, I also desperately want it to be a happy end. I started justifying why it is so, and as you pointed out, it is because SeYoon wants them to have an alone time. And also the way SaeBom confessed that she would crumble if Hyun is gone and that home depends on who you live with, I don't think she'll be staying in that apartment without Hyun. So as much as I have doubt, the realness of Hyun staying alive is quite high.

The only thing that bothers me is that SeYoon didn't acknowledged YiHyun when he approached and hugged SaeBom. I think this is what sparked a doubt and feel that that scene is only SaeBom's imagination.

This is entertaining and keeps you watching, but it's super frustrating. A lot of things doesn't make sense. Our main couple as much as they are badass are too goody two shoes and have the patience of a saint. A stark contrast to the rest of the residents who are over the top self centered, a bunch of dimwits and just simply rotten. I understand the idea about humanity's true face when faced with crisis, but I wish the scriptwriter could have made it a bit more realistic.

Episode 3 is so hilarious..
this is giving me 2010 Running Man vibes, not only are the casts funny, the games are exciting as well.
Must be because they have the same PD as Runningman.

I started this without any expectation as I heard that they are making a new variety show, but I never even checked the trailer. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the released episodes.

A lot of times, shows with his format end up looking very scripted as the members sometimes ends up taking obvious scripted decisions/moves in order not to disrupt the story flow prepared by the writers.
Secondly, shows with less creative content needs to rely on established bond and camaraderie between members if productions prepared games/activities are not entertaining enough. But this new show really did well in setting the mood even on the first ep.

What I like about this (at least for the eps already released) :

Production - it's Netflix so they seem to have a huge budget for the location. That island is so pretty.

PD & story writers - they have very well thought concept. the MMORPG inspired format is really entertaining. With 6 players doing their own thing, there are so many variables that could mess up their planned events. And yet everything looks seamless, it's like the players are really playing, atleast it doesn't seem like they are taking scripted choices to fit the story flow or create content.

Casts - it's a good choice that majority of the casts are variety shows veteran and they all have worked together on one other show or another. We were spared from awkward getting to know you phase. I think only BoAh seems to still be awkward and holding back but also understandable as she wasn't in much variety. They looked natural even from the pilot episode as if they've been on the show for a long time.

The highlight of the first 2 episodes for me is definitely BEGGAR KIM. what happened to Heechul was so funny. I was laughing out loud with the turn of events for him.
I'm looking forward to episode 3 and hopefully it will stay fun and entertaining!
On The King's Affection Nov 9, 2021
After finishing 10 eps, here's what I think so far.
- the King probably knows FL's secret. After all, it was his royal guard who brought the FL as a baby to the monastery. I do not know up to what extent he is aware of the events, but he probably thinks FL is working with her Grandfather hence he acts colder to her.

- I just don't get how FL plans to go about the marriage. The consummation and producing an heir, like how can she possibly get away with that?

- I love Lee Hyun's character, he has a silent but very strong presence in the palace. Him and his brother seem to hold a lot more power than they show. I'm worried though that he might end up being bad (like Wook in Scarlet Heart), hope he remains selfless till the end. I mean they are technically relative anyway. He will probably be inheriting the throne in the end so FL can live as her true self.

-GaOn is such an interesting character, he's giving me Kenshin Himura vibes. His alliance is still grey, but I believe he is good and probably just working on his own.

-The ML here is a total beta and is really being overshadowed by FL. Tbh, I'm liking Hyun and GaOn more.

- I had a feeling that at a crucial moment, we will see that guy from Ming dynasty again and he will help out FL.
On 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 Nov 8, 2021
I have to get this off my chest. Admittedly at the beginning of the issue, I was completely fine and I understand SeonHo leaving. But now after all the turn of events, I feel so much unfairness and injustice happened.
I initially said I will continue watching the show even with 5 members, but it turns out, I cannot. It just makes me sad now.
I know it’s not the cast, neither Bang PD or the crews fault. But I feel very betrayed how this is handled. It’s bad enough that KSH is not returning, but was he really like a criminal or a plague that they did not even properly address this despite the audience wishes.
How can you sell brotherhood, family and cheesy edits of how they’ve overcame many struggles in the 2 years, and now 1 important member is gone and you call it a ‘SMALL CHANGE’. I really hope that was just a lapse in the translation.
Again, I do not blame the members. That day before the issue they just commented ‘I love yous’ in each others IG post and a few days later they can’t even say KSH’s name on TV. They probably do talk in person and still support each other, but seeing how things were swept under the rug by 2d1n production, it really doesn’t sit well with me. I couldn’t find any closure and I find the whole 'we are family' just a BS.
There might be trauma related to JJY scandals, but it has already been established KSH’s case is unique. The best response would have been to say that they did negotiate but it was agreed that he will leave the show but they should atleast even left a consolation message that he is welcome to come back when ready and wish him well.
I hate to compare but this is why I admire RunningMan so much, they also have their share of issues but you can see genuine solidarity between the members. Remember when SBS tried to kick out KJK and SJH, the members were against it and decided they would all rather quit.
I’m not saying the members of 2d1n quit, but it’s really just too much that they pretend nothing happened and just carry on like KSH never existed.
If KBS would just let it go, and in time when KSH is ready, I’m pretty sure given how Seyoon and Dindin are, they could diffuse any awkwardness and turn it into something funny at light hearted when he’s back.
But it seems these are all wishful thinking now.
