Drilling into the skull to relieve intracranial pressure actually is a thing and might be something a trauma surgeon might do in the field in such a scenario but likely not with the kind of drill bit she used. That drill was massive. But yes the act itself is not entirely inaccurate. How it was depicted? Probably a little 😅

And probably not the appropriate response for her specifically to do... even though it did save his life. Which to be fair was pointed out in the drama

I don't know. lol do you want to start watching it? Is there anything about it that has piqued your interest? Maybe just give it a go (there are only four episodes out right now) see if it appeals in any way, and go from there.

You're not the only one who felt that way, just like there are many people who feel the opposite. I personally felt it all the way through (as far back as the beginning, when they were at Ye Mansion. I felt something from her... there was a spark there) I believed it. It was a very intense, obsessive and conflicted relationship. It was love that was mixed with hate. And because of that hate she had trouble giving into and accepting the love, even within her own mind. But I definitely felt it. I honestly loved this dichotomy of emotions. Made their story richer imo. By the end I felt it had reached a place where the conflict was gone, there was understanding, and just love.

Each to the their own though! As I said, there are other people who didn't like this kind of relationship either.

and the last arc was probably a bit rushed - you're likely picking up on the fact that many scenes were cut. It's unfortunate.

Huntingtons disease is caused by a mutated gene. She doesnt seem to have manifested any symptoms yet either. (Usually doesnt happen until the person is in their late 30s). Unless he did a full sequencing of her DNA to find that she had the HD gene. There was no way for him to know. It wasn't going to show up on a CT

Not like that's weird or anything. many people don't get married until they're in there 40s. It's not old. (or maybe because I'm old now myself, my perception of what's old and what's not is off. 😆)

What year is this set? because 2012 was a decade ago, he'd be in this early 40s wouldn't he? (Which is not that far off from Yunxi's actual age I guess) unless this isn't set in 2022? (Just trying to figure out the timeline haha.) 30 is still very young to be a professor, but I guess he's supposed to be genius.

I was wondering that too. it doesn't quite make sense. if he was her professor in 2012, how old is Dr Gu supposed to be exactly? unless he was an extremely young professor? 25? unrealistic but ya know. this is drama. 🤣

As far as I'm aware, there is a 50% chance of inheriting the gene from a parent who carries it. If you inherit the mutated gene, you will eventually develop the disease. Symptoms usually manifest in their 30s or 40s. Knowing you have the gene is like living with a ticking time bomb basically.

She does have it and she ends up dying as a result of a Huntington's drug trial in the novel. Whether they have that ending in the drama, I don't know. There is a chance that they end it on a more bittersweet note where they continue to look for a cure in hope, while knowing she'll likely one day succumb. But we won't know for sure until it ends.

I think there is a separate voice dubber for the FML when she's speaking in French. which, unfortunately does sound very different from the other voice. It's definitely a little irritating and it does take you out of it a bit, I admit. But I think I can look past it for the most part. 😅

Yeaaah, it isn't the best. he's a pretty good looking guy and they're doing nothing to show it off! I guess they're playing him off as being kind of bookish and insecure?

"Do you have feelings for him?" that's kind of a weird question to ask her seeing as she hasn't seen the man in years and they've had two whole encounters. 🤣

there are also too many ones with similar names. We had My Journey to You a few months ago, with Esther Yu and Zhang Linghe and now we have A Journey to Love with Liu Yuning and Liu Shishi. both wuxia and both on Iqiyi.

yes. and this isn't the only drama dropping right now either. There are a few that i'm interested in. and rumours of Liu Yuning's A journey to love next week which i've been waiting ages for too.

yeah he and his FL's have been discussed many times over the years. I completely agree that he hasn't always had the best luck when it comes to being paired with the right FL in some of his other dramas (except for Bai Lu, as most people do. Though tbf, Janice Wu wasn't terrible either even if her character was a bit of a coldfish lol) But it does imply that you think he's never had a decent scene partner before and it's also clear that you were talking about one of his FL's in particular when referencing "problematic" co-stars who don't deserve to work with him.

I'm not having a dig at you, Mermaid, I was just asking what exactly this person allegedly did that was so awful and reiterating that it does seem like throwing shade at them, and it does invite people to wonder and ask questions about what you were talking about.
