I think that she had run out of wishes and so Mari sacrificed herself so that she could meet him one last time.…
She was given 4 wishes. The first was fixing the picture. The second was going back in time. The third was showing that her husband loved her. The last (4th) was meeting him again one last time. Mari however brought him back to life also which is why Mari "died" and became a shooting star.
it's strange, did anyone else notice someone's comment here disappeared (why?) They wrote some long paragraphs…
What did the comment say? Why did it get hate? I've written some comments on here that go against the "general" opinion and I don't remember ever getting DM's..
Finished subbing also the last episode, I've just posted it....I hope you guys will enjoy it! It took me really…
I might never watch this drama but just gotta say that you taking time to sub a drama like this based on google translate is pretty amazing and nice ;).
I'm rewatching this drama paying attention on the details and I have come to the conclusion that the most problematic…
I admit I don't remember the details anymore but you are probably right but this is not only the detective. I think majority of characters act in such a weird and unrealistic way (or at least improbable way). That said then in my experience majority of dramas are unrealistic but I can ignore that and enjoy the drama anyway if the unrealistic (or at least improbable) actions are not irritating me to much.
I did not watch the entire of this show I watched it while jumping forward in the story. I watched the entire of 2009 show which I prefer. I would not be able to pintpoint exactly when the important parts happen in this version. What I can say though is that watching from the beginning will make the rest of the show better because some of the characters from the beginning are part of the entire show and if you don't have the background information then you will lack some knowledge about the conflicts between some characters.
I think the 2009 version is overall better but it might depend on your reason to watch. The 2019 version has been made more "attractive" to female viewers. Wuji is made more "handsome" and the show is made lighter both literally (lightning) and also by being more political correct. They also added more "sappy" (in my opinion) romance and Wuji starts calling Zhao Min (MinMin) earlier. An example of changes is Wuji never throwing a rock at the horse in the 2019 version and he didn't punch Zhao Min either which he did in the 2009 version. Zhao Min character is also made more serious/(moody?) in 2019 version compared to her more "playful" (around Wuji) character in 2009 version. I def. do not like the lighter scenes. I somehow think the drama seems more cheap than the "darker" lightning in 2009 version even though this version is made 10 years later. I think it's also harder to distinguish between the female characters in 2019 version due to their very similar make-up and dresses. In 2009 version they are all more unique and you can more easily tell the difference. That said then the 2019 version does the fighting scens better - there is no contest about that. There are also more romance scenes between the characters which to me (as I wrote earlier) are sappy but if you are watching for sappy romance (which I'm pretty sure a lot of people watching dramas in the first place are doing) then you def. might enjoy the 2019 more. There are also some characters getting a bit more "story" than in the 2009 version but this drama is also 10 episodes longer.
I mean the reason the husband might not believe the wife is because half of what comes out of her mouth are lies.…
The character being well written doesn't change that she's a trashy human being. I don't agree the character was that well written but if you think so that's that. That doesn't change that it's stupid to argue that Hye Ran just wanted someone to believe her when she's telling lies throughout the entire drama and the husband knew that. The husband was testing her in episode 5 and she failed. Also having an affair is not illegal - blackmail is. I find it ridiculous that you can defend Hye Ran blackmailing people. Also she didn't just blackmail JW but also ES and lied about a false rape - which is also illegal. Hye Ran is also a hypocrite because she's telling JW off while she had an "affair" herself. At least the writer had more sense than a lot of the viewers who loves to defend Hye Ran just because she's a woman. The husband killing was selfish but everything after that was him sacrificing himself for the woman and that's done as a female fantasy. The producers and writers are not stupid they know majority of their viewers are female. If the husband didn't keep the killing a secret then the "affair" of Hye Ran would have been found out and she'd be known as the wife of a killer who killed the lover of his wife. The drama is unrealistic as hell though so you can't really take anything too seriously. This drama is pretty much a worse female version of Brain and instead of doctors then it's news anchors. They just decided to throw in a murder and marriage plot also.
This is my question as well. Anyone can elaborate?
The point of the ending is that it doesn't matter. The FL is going to be unhappy regardless. That's why the FL is shown unhappy before the news about the phone call reach her and that's why the drama never tells us.
I think one interesting theme this drama explores is gender norms, the idea of men as protectors and passivity…
I mean the reason the husband might not believe the wife is because half of what comes out of her mouth are lies. And when she's not making direct lies then she's purposely leaving out details and "passively" lying. The wife lies straight to the face of the husband in episode 5. Heck it's not even the husband she's lying to in that episode. I agree with you though the downfall for both MLs comes from wanting to protect a woman - a woman who frankly didn't "deserve" their protection. They both did immoral stuff to protect the woman and that's why they either died or was thrown in prison. The woman ended unhappy because no matter how you look at it then she did lie pretty much the entire drama (and more than once blackmail) and she's also helping to cover up a crime for her own benefit. Also the entire man selflessly sacrificing and protecting the woman is for the female viewers more than anything else. In real life men want to protect women but they do not want to protect women unconditionally like the men in this drama did - that's a woman fantasy.
I was a little nervous about this drama because of the rating, but I found it enjoyable and there were definitely…
I agree this is one of the few Korean dramas I actually liked because it's so different from the usual "copy-paste" Kdrama. I however think it makes perfect sense that the ML left for the US and wont be that close with FL anymore. This is said both for his own sake and for FL and SML. I think having friends of opposite sex who is/has been clearly in love with you is never a good idea (at least not in real life) unless either one is very ugly because frankly nobody is perfect and no matter how much people claim they wont cross the line then my experience tells me that in such a situation it's very risky. Also ML moving on from FL will be easier by not being that close with her for some time.
I dont know if I like the way they executed the ending; I dont know if it is because they kept it opend; but I…
I think the ending was supposed to show that in either case (husband dies or lives) her life will be unhappy because at the end of the day her husband and her are keeping a secret of murder/manslaughter while someone else is taking the blame which was started because of her "cheating". If she had gotten the news then the drama would give out the message that she only ended unhappy because her husband didn't get away with keeping this a secret. In this case the drama is saying that whether or not the husband dies doesn't matter - they are going to be unhappy anyway.
Yes you are! Eun Joo is a horrible, bitter person. Why would you like her?!? Hye Ran is straighforward, sincere…
Just because you like a character doesn't mean you should be blind to the truth. I mean you are even contradicting yourself in the same comment. Sincere and honest >< secrets and past/cheating. This is like when people claim they've never lied before...
Does anyone else feel that Detective Kang - a horrible, bumbling dinosaur of a man - set off the final tragedy?
The detective might be bad but he's not the one who set off the finale tragedy. They did so themselves by trying to keep the truth about a murder/manslaughter a secret. I can't believe anyone can actually shift blame like that just because they like the leads. If the husband had been honest and gone to the police and taken the blame and responsibility for his actions from the start then that would be that.
This drama is unrealistic as hell and doesn't make any sense. The husband character is unrealistic and no man would ever do so much for a wife like that. If she was very nice or next-level beautiful then maybe but even then it's a stretch. Also the FL piss off so many people and even use blackmail. In real life she'd be found out and potentially put in jail - again this drama make no sense. I can't believe some people actually write that the drama is "realistic" or the relationship between husband and wife is realistic - it's anything but realistic. Also they are fucking news anchors - they are acting like they are world leaders...
The drama is not bad but not that great either. I always find it troublesome when you know the sex of the writer just based on the writing. I knew the writer/(turned out to be two though) was female. The dynamic of majority of the relationships in the drama made that obvious - especially that of the porn actress..
It's not so much that it's very, very frequently portrayed (I'm from England, we drink too much here, too) but…
The last part is the answer to the question. They add those scenes because then they can have the ML take care of FL which female viewers (which are majority of viewers) love.
I mean a male lead falling in love with a twin of his dead wife makes perfect sense though considering the fact…
Are you for real here. You think it's utterly ridiculous for someone to fall for someone they find attractive? That's the number one basis for love in this world. That's just reality. There are far more unrealistic stuff happening in every kdrama already. I mean 99,99% of all male leads are unrealistic especially the 'bad boys' who fall in love and become perfect boyfriend. Also I agree using the donated heart is unrealistic and removes free will but that's a different scenario than falling for a twin sister. You are mixing two situations together. They are not both unrealistic.
That said then in my experience majority of dramas are unrealistic but I can ignore that and enjoy the drama anyway if the unrealistic (or at least improbable) actions are not irritating me to much.
