Good question that no one knows the answer to! Although I have to point out that all three characters that you…
Hmm true, but that could also be due to xianxia logic. I'm kind of against the idea of a "metal flute" because as far as I know there are no traditional Chinese flute instruments (or any wind instruments) that are made of metal. It would be culturally inaccurate. The hardest material would be like jade which is what Lan Xichen's xiao is made out of I assume

Was it created from the sword? I thought it was the Stygian Tiger Amulet that was created from the sword (both are metal lol). If I'm not mistaken Chen Qing should be made from wood or bamboo, despite how polished and shiny it looks haha
I actually really enjoyed ep 2. Much more entertaining than ep 1. So anyone who got turned down by ep 1 maybe try ep 2. I hope the show gets better and better as the competitions now begin. p.s. still don't know why Li Jian and Alan Tam are there if they're not competing lol
Another reason why I think CQL elevated MDZS: the relationship between WangXian. CQL managed to show how pure…
Exactly! For me I daresay that was the most important reason that made me love this drama. I feel like romance nowadays has to be so explicitly shown in order to satisfy the audience and this drama just shows that there really is no need for all that to "prove there exists a connection between two people". Even if they were allowed to kiss or whatnot in this drama I would still have preferred the current portrayal.
Hello yall! I came across this YouTuber who is doing short reaction vids of The Untamed, but in addition, he also says he's a Chinese translator for xianxia/wuxia novels, so he pauses and explains some of the translations. I actually found his reaction vids really educational! He also has other vids explaining some common translation stuff that come up in xianxia/wuxia novels. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgf8s70_dmcDIqXruv2MS2g Watching his reactions really made me appreciate translators even more because translation is not just literal Chinese to English, but you really have to carefully select the right English words that correctly convey the meaning and cultural background behind single Chinese characters. Edit: I already thought I was pretty well versed in Chinese terminology but oh boy there are so many details in Netflix translations that just weren't done well that flew by me

On a more serious note, I just think the dizi was simply the easier instrument he could come up with. Like in ep 2 he carved an emergency one out of bamboo right on the spot. Likely down there in Burial Mounds there weren't other materials to make more complicated instruments. I think the real question lies in why did he choose to use music to control puppets and not just with some hand-waving or whatever. And that's where your theory makes more sense,; it's because he got inspiration from seeing other people control puppets.
i don't know if this has been discussed before but i think the reason why wei wuxian choose a flute as his weapon…
Good question that no one knows the answer to! Although I have to point out that all three characters that you mentioned were using different instruments :/. Maybe Wei Wuxian just wanted something that was easy and convenient to carry around xD
I'm kind of late to the party lol considering I watched the Untamed a year ago. Anyway, two comments. 1. Why why why did they have to use such extensive CGI??? It made the scene so comical in a series setting. 2. Love the very last ending shot of Nietzsches Huaisang. That was just an absolutely brilliant shot.
I think @Syd made a really good point about Wei Wuxian stepping up BECAUSE he wanted to protect the Wens. He's…
Ya I thought your question was very interesting from the start. You're possibly right because Jin Zixuan already did an impressive performance and no-one else would dare beat him except for Wei Wuxian. Ya it's possible he just wanted to show off there lol. I think the point someone made ^ about portraying Wei Wuxian more as a "hero" also has an influence on the scene. (I honestly forgot how this scene went down in the novel so I can't compare). Nope you're not stupid lol I didn't even think of that reason, I was just saying I agree with what someone else said ^. I'm not taking credit xD
okay so im reading the novel and i just got to the pheonix mountain scene where wwx shows off his archery skills…
I think @Syd made a really good point about Wei Wuxian stepping up BECAUSE he wanted to protect the Wens. He's the show-not-tell type of person, so by putting on such an impressive performance he knows that no-one else has a chance of beating him at arrow shooting. As for why Lan Xichen didn't sway in his feelings towards Jin Guangyao, that's a good point that I never thought about! But I'm mainly just agreeing with what people said above about the Lan clan not being powerful enough to oppose the Jin clan. Lan Xichen could also just believe that that idea was just Jin Guangyao following his father's orders. There could be personal reasons too yknow, just like Lan Wangji is biased towards Wei Wuxian, Lan Xichen may be biased towards Jin Guangyao (I prefer the first theory). The same question can also be applied to the Nightless City battle too. Why did the Lan clan not speak up for Wei Wuxian when he was on the roof demanding to know why they had to kill off innocent Wens. I think it ultimately boils down to not being powerful enough. The Lan clan does have their morals like you said, but it's already hard enough keeping up with those morals within their own clan, much less having to keep other clans in check too. Love your questions lol very thoughtful!
Just curious do you think it's safe to say that you have moved on from The Untamed? I think I can safely say that…
Yea that's mostly what I meant. Obviously we haven't (and won't) completely move on since we're still coming back to this page. I'm just at a point where I'm mostly saturated with all The Untamed content that possible exists lol
After reading a few comments, just wanted to share this in case there are new viewers who are struggling with…
Just curious do you think it's safe to say that you have moved on from The Untamed? I think I can safely say that I have passed the withdrawal phase already (can't say exactly when lol). I'm just going to add on to what you said. It's been over a year for me and I remember after I finished it I was still caught up for a few months reading all MXTX novels, watching bts and anything related, and venturing out into WangXian fanfics. The first drama that I watched after was Joy of Life as it aired and it helped because I kinda jumped onto that hype train lol. Gradually shifting from looking through The Untamed related stuff to the real life actors' related stuff really helps too. Nothing wrong with staying stuck forever, but I just think there are a lot of cool stuff out there outside of The Untamed's greatness. But I say give it about 3 months haha
I can relate so much about this author's mother. I know my Asian mom is exactly as described here. My mom doesn't…
Haha same with me I am terrified of horror. Strangely enough I don't think my mom would be scared of horror because she would be like "that's so fake". It's different with The Untamed though because although there are scary elements, that's not the point of the drama whereas horror films I feel like are made just for the thrill lol

She just dislikes unrealistic dramas in general, namely stuff from the Xianxia/Wuxia genre. I just find it hard to get it across to her that despite the visuals being unrealistic, the messages told are very real. But I guess it's just hard to change someone's mind ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
p.s. still don't know why Li Jian and Alan Tam are there if they're not competing lol
