Hey, can anyone help me find any similar Chinese novels to this one?I am really fond of historical romances and…
You might want to check out MXTX's other previous works such as Heaven's Official Blessing (HOB) or Scum Villain's Self-Saving (SVSSS). I personally recommend HOB which you can read here. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1oXnp5Y2OD70i78utu4BcQ3xgAlygypd0
These both feature a male-male couple. Unfortunately that's all I can recommend. The vast majority of Chinese dramas are adapted from novels so if you find a drama you are interested in, chances are there may be an English version of the novel. I am not sure if there are many Chinese novels are actually translated though.

If you had a bad day, watch Mdzs Q (chibi version). The first episode is out, it's only 5 mins per episode but…
I swear giant-head-tiny-body Lan WangJi paired with a deep husky voice that doesn't match his Q appearance is the cutest thing I've ever seen. P.s. why are the episodes so short ;_;

Guys those who already completed the novel i have one doubt after wei ying reincarnated / after being summoned…
In the novel he woke up in Mo Xuan Yu's body so his outer appearance changed completely. In the drama this is more up to personal interpretation and beliefs because some say he actually died and woke up in Mo Xuan Yu's body and some say he didn't actually die.

What exactly is the AO3 incident? '-''
Yes I also heard that the fan apologized. But note that absolutely nothing is confirmed by evidence. The "fan" could actually be a fan of Xiao Zhan or they could just be someone wanting to attack Xiao Zhan, we won't know. All I know is I'm just frustrated that people think it is Xiao Zhan's responsibility to manage his fans which absolutely should not be the case.

basically a fan fic on AO3 was reported and eventually the whole website was blocked in China and somehow SOMEHOW people connected it to Xiao Zhan and blamed him for it because they needed a scapegoat. Please PLEASE note to anyone reading this that no one really knows what actually happened, it's all speculation and rumors.

For a person who has never watched a Chinese drama, is this a good start?
The Untamed is not representative of all Chinese dramas and I don't believe in a single drama as being the "gateway" into the world of Chinese dramas. Same applies to dramas elsewhere. But it certainly is a good start for a major category of Chinese dramas, namely xianxia aka fantasy historical. Hope you enjoy!

Basically the movements for the infamous WangXian rooftop fight are the same moves that LWJ used to "test" WWX…
And thanks to everyone for responding :D

Oh woow I just thought of something too. In the drama WangXian fought together with weapons only 3 times. The first was the rooftop in which WWX didn't even pull out his sword and still tied with LWJ, the second was this one where WWX stopped mid battle. The third was at the Nightless City battle where WWX used an entirely different fighting style. I can really see WWX's character development just from looking at these 3 scenes alone, yet LWJ's development is not as outwardly obvious.

Credit the weibo video for the catch, not me haha. Lol seems like I'm in the minority here. I dunno how to describe it but I felt like it was more than just him feeling exhausted because he doesn't have a core (if that's what y'all are saying). I rewatched it again and it looked like he was about to dodge but for some reason decided not to and just closed his eyes and waited (hence why I said he admitted defeat). My guess is it could be because he really thought LWJ hated him for learning demonic cultivation and felt guilty about breaking his promise so in that moment he didn't mind if LWJ killed him right there. I can see how the golden core explanation fits in right after that because LWJ asked him "where's Suibian", but basically I'm just curious what WWX was thinking right at that moment LWJ's sword was pointed towards his neck.

Thank you both for your answers! Hmmm true. Their relationship was pretty tense and uncertain during that time. I just felt that there was more than just him not having enough strength to fight. And yea with the rain scene I would not have been surprised if WWX just accepted his death right there and then.

I can see your point about this being a marketing strategy, but I am more ehh? about applying the "boyband effect" to The Untamed drama itself. First of all I've never even heard of the term before this so thanks for the insight lol. For me personally I felt the need to kind of smash characters together and scream "JUST BE TOGETHER" at the screen because I so badly wanted them to be together. If the boyband effect really was present, it wasn't working for me because I felt it very wrong to imagine any one of the characters as my "boyfriend". But I can see how your point applies to stuff beyond the scope of the story itself for example, when the company formed The Untamed Boys which consisted of several of the supporting characters into a group. Tbh I cringed when they decided to do that and I saw it as a clear strategy to boost its popularity. So all I wanted to say was I agree that this effect exists to some extent, but I don't think it can be applied to The Untamed drama/story/characters itself.

hello I'm back lol I keep digging up little details that I keep missing and felt the need to share xDcame across…
Basically the movements for the infamous WangXian rooftop fight are the same moves that LWJ used to "test" WWX after he came back from the Burial Mounds. Now that I think about it it does add up because I remember right after that, WWX said "your skills have improved" to LWJ and LWJ replied "it's only because you haven't improved" and they could only make a comparison if both were referring to the same fight that they had before. I actually had another question about this scene which is why did WWX close his eyes and admit defeat? Did he really reeaally think that LWJ would kill him? Any thoughts? :)
