This article reminds me of the many times I felt like writing a full on essay about The Untamed just for fun (and just for myself to keep as a souvenir lol) because seriously I can talk about this drama all day everyday.
Also the number of times you wrote "but that’s for another article" made me laugh

Most likely due to his vast number of haters...He has tons of supporters but his number of haters isn't low either. Most of the comments were just hating on Xiao Zhan. Especially on some random unknown poll like this, only random haters would bother to vote.

Unfortunately there aren't many options for international fans because it is currently only sold through apps limited to China. I have heard about this link however https://twitter.com/XiaozhanUnion/status/1253732893173653504 and they claim they can purchase the song on your behalf then send the link to you, but my understanding is you'll need the QQ music app to listen. Just be careful when making these transactions online and fully understand the process before you give your money!

I think I totally understand you. I also loved TMOPB and thought Fengjiu and Donghua's love story was meh in that drama. I did give this one a try and I thought it wasn't very bad. I definitely was more touched by Baiqian and Yehua's story though. Do note that their story in this drama is a similar set up but not exactly the same as it was in TMOPB. One thing that I liked more in this drama was I found it much more comedic, and also Donghua's character was portrayed really well. Give it a try!?

I am literally not trying to go against what you're saying... I am just expressing my opinion, but not wanting to write so much. Ok but you're telling me not to trust Avenuex as a source but likewise I shouldn't completely trust what you're saying right? Also I completely agree that the money is not used evenly across all department. That's why I said cgi isn't very good because they did not spend most of the funds on that department, but rather in other places to enhance other elements. I personally think cgi is only a small part of aesthetics which includes other stuff (lighting, props, costumes, etc) so therefore, I think the quality of cgi alone is much cheaper compared to say the quality of costumes and props. It's all relative.
Producer friend? Sure, I would love to know what they think about this.
If you would like to debate this more I would love to but I think it's taking up too much space out here lol

@SuibianX @Alice Wang I would just like to subtly interject here: another video from Avenuex explaining her review of The Untamed. At around 2:45 she mentioned the budget for The Untamed was 140 million RMB which she said was "dirt cheap" for a period drama. I agree that we should never blindly trust anything but I think for The Untamed, most people would agree that the cgi is not the same level as other dramas. I'm not saying the visuals were at all bad, but just saying that its much better in other dramas.

Definitely no "wow factor" for the cgi and not on par with AOL and TMOPB. Very low budget. But please don't let that be your only criteria for watching! :)

I love your comparisons! I completely agree. Even though WWX is the main protagonist and he goes through so much pain, the suffering of XY and JGY are nowhere less than him. That's one of the things I love most about this story is that the characters are soooo drastically different yet soooo similar, which just goes to show how and where a person can end up can purely be based on their childhood/past experiences. Such a deep life lesson

Where can I find the audiobook?

I don't even know if there is a female lead in this drama. If there is then definitely no romantic relationships between her and our male leads. Why? Romance is just not the main part of the plot.

I don't remember about the book but in the drama Suibian could only be drawn by WWX himself. I don't think it mattered whether he was dead or alive.

I'm sure there are many who would disagree. But I don't feel like writing elaborate articles explaining :)

Valid to be reluctant because of an unexperienced cast; I was too at the beginning for the same reason. But this cast really proved all negative expectations wrong and I couldn't imagine a better suited cast!
