Fairly early on, Zhang Ping says something along the lines of…. if we bring the truth to light it will have nowhere to hide. If anyone recalls the exact quote please share it. thx!
For me this is a tough one to rate because at the end of the day I had really conflicting views about what I just watched. Many of you have provided great analysis. I would just simply say - sometimes a great script covers lots of flaws, and sometimes a great cast makes a flawed story entertaining - this is the later. Pretty much across the board I loved this cast.
Not that the comparison matters, but I liked this a lot better than Till the End of the Moon. The plot is more…
I loved both and have watched both twice - but I think the winner in a side-by-side comparison is LBFAD everyday. For example, I thought the mortal arch in LBFAD was far more interesting than the dream arch in TTEOTM. Plus, Dylan had a much more interesting role to play - he’s was heroic and badass, and at the same time he had some tear-inducing vulnerable moments - that he owned.
"existential meditation?" "Art-house feel?" Seriously? What art houses do you frequent?
Existential - exploring the meaning of life, Meditative - helping one to think deeply and mix their mind with new insights, art house - artistic works created not solely for the goal of entertaining the masses.
One Room Angel was such a beautiful journey - a raw, vivid, tender and emotional existential meditation on life. I think Japanese series feature such amazing storytelling - not just what happened, but how did it feel and where did it take me.
Many people have remarked that the rating is too low. And while I think 7.8 is a good rating, I agree it should be higher. I think perhaps the sort of art-house feel and pace of Japanese dramas appeals to a fairly specific audience - and for the rest, it’s just not their jam - I get it. I’m deeply grateful for their unique style and the way they make me feel a part of what’s happening on-screen.
When FL sent off the hair for dna analysis - I thought they might detect arsenic (from the pills his wicked wife is giving him), and that the FL would eventually save her dad by discovering this.
Ok I'm kinda obsessed over Kim Jae Won lol. When Yi Joo imitated how he looked at that painting, and his gruff…
Yes! I loved that scene. I believe I heard or read (or dreamed) that he’s on her side because they were in the same Orphanage. But the really cute rapport they had in that conversation made me think maybe their brother and sister! Maybe cooking class teacher is their mom and there will be a big happy reunion???
It cracks me up that they wear full dressage when they’re at the stables. Not even equestrian’s dress so formally unless they’re at an event or competition!

Pride and Predjudice.
