I haven't seen ep 18 yet, but thought that FINALLY! in ep 16-17 there is growth in their relationship! A little more honesty, understanding, & closeness between them after what happened with Dony. Before that, it just felt so shallow with huge power imbalance. Like they don't really know each other, don't talk, and are not that close.

Ep 17, really glad Dony went to jail...but what about the board member that recruited him in the 1st place (bypassing HR) and who was backing him up? Obviously Lime HQ value Luke, but I'd like to know what happened to the scumbag board member who recruited a**hole Dony to rein in Luke!?! He should pay too 😡😤😡😤😡😤 Still pissed off... There better be some kind of revenge arc!

I agree with this! I would be so upset if my loved one kept something like this from me.

Even though their relationship is hidden at the workplace, and a little messy with a shaky foundation and what seems like no future direction, they've been together for a few years and so of course he naturally cares about her. So for her to hide what happened (actually she outright lied) and him being the last to know...he definitely should be upset! It's an understandable reaction. They are together, yet he is treated indifferently, almost like a stranger.

At the same time, I see where Flora is coming from, since they've always portrayed their relationship at work as like strictly professional colleagues. She also wanted to handle it and didn't want to bother him, plus the charges involved another colleague. She saw the bigger picture and it was more black & white for her while he didn't. Hard to separate the private and professional space in this kind of hidden/forbidden office romance. If they were allowed to be open about their relationship at work, they wouldn't have such crazy assumptions and misunderstandings.

I think after what happened with Dony, it'll be harder for Luke & Flora to be open about their relationship...people will think Flora influenced Luke to get her promotions, reparations from the company like the stock options, all of that, it just will look bad on her. I can't see how Flora will be happy if she continues to work at Lime with Luke.

Wow! this was so good! I enjoyed this so much. Loved the main couple, the story, music, really everything was breathtaking. 💓

In ~epi 20, I'm so angry that Prince Qi abandoned his sister! 😡 What the heck after all that she did for him?!? Terrible.

But, the most annoying character is empress dowager, gawd her voice is sooo domineering & grating UGH. Good on her son to issue a secret edict, then when he passes, she will too! 😤

I'm rewatching just to see the details again and it's such a good story! Most exciting one I've seen so far this year in the historical cdrama genre.

I felt the same as you, I was so thrilled and excited watching after each ep aired, would come here to share the joy but found mostly differing (to put it mildly) opinions and so would question whether we watched the same thing, lol. I was completely hooked into the story and loved all the characters. It's not perfect but a highly entertaining ride nonetheless! Not easy for a cdrama to achieve...like Pursuit of Jade which I loved in the beginning but it just got so ridiculous in the final arc and what was up with that final moment in the alternate ending?!? At least the ending here made sense and consistent with our main couple's principles. So, you are not alone in your MDL experience!

I didn't realize Shen Zhi Li's child was a girl and maybe heir to the throne! Interesting ideas, definitely possible the emperor thought this way...

Finished! First impressions - The ending was pretty satisfying and makes sense, the story overall was exciting, like easily I could binge all episodes over a weekend, and the acting was really good. I only saw CZY in Fated Hearts... here he played a more restrained character but still brimming with passion & emotion. Loved his performance! Actually the entire cast did great. Fun watch for me 9/10.

The actor that plays Shen family's father is soo goood...he was excellent as emperor CZY's father in Fated Hearts too. The Shen family scenes so heartwarming after Zhi Shu came back..

I did see that later! But what the heck did he expect from that lol? The outcome would have been her death?!? I guess he was desperate to separate them...but with the reform, she was ok...so what was his motive exactly?

I can't believe it!!! From that fight scene up until this point, they didn't show what happened to him, and then just the news of his death...I wish they could have shown more about his story, and given him a better farewell 💔

oh my goodness, the reveal of the emperor's love & devotion to MTH to his ministers under the guise of reform! wow so shameless lol!!! but how / why did she drop the phoenix pendant? did it have something to do with Yin Qing adjusting her coat beforehand?
