Too late is still too late

Episode 30 centres heavily on confession, though it’s frustrating how much time is given to the SML and his sudden need to finally voice his feelings for the FL. It feels overdue rather than meaningful. I actually found myself feeling more sympathy for his female colleague, who is open and honest about her feelings, while he continues to hide behind hesitation. What really matters in this episode is the FL’s clarity. She’s in a genuinely happy place now, having firmly left the past where it belongs, and she’s looking ahead to her future with the ML. Watching her stand up for herself is incredibly satisfying — she handles the SFL and her snide remarks with ease, showing both intelligence and self-assurance.The FL makes one thing unmistakably clear: the ML isn’t a “choice” — he’s who she wants. The contrast with the SML couldn’t be sharper. He saw her message and said nothing. He heard her confession and did nothing. As she rightly points out, he took her feelings for granted, assuming they would never change while he stayed indecisive. If he didn’t like her, he should have gently rejected her instead of leaving everyone in limbo. That lack of courage has consequences — and this episode finally acknowledges that.It feels like this episode is closing the door on emotional “what ifs,” clearing the path for the story to focus fully on growth, accountability, and what comes next rather than unresolved feelings.

Bday celebrations

The evening was going well. Xu’s colleagues were trying to get him and Chris some alone time. I really like her. She is bold enough to lay it on the line with her feelings for clarity and then give Xu hope for his dream girl. She even does this on her bday so that it will be settled for her once and for all. There were no mean intentions to XiGuang, she just heard blabbermouth cousin at resort and was unaware of their updated status. She also let him know he would be hard pressed to win the girl over Lin. She is such a good person and I hope she finds a more worthy guy very soon. Rong has managed to show up at the karaoke place and as usual flaunting her wealth and checking to see the status of everyone else. Once again XiGuang very calmly and rationally defends her job and its future and shows up Rong for being the petty wench that she is. I wonder if she was aware her friend had pined for Xu along with her? Probably not because she was too busy bossing her around.😝 Xu knows about her confession song and sings it with her in mind. She makes excuse to leave shortly after and he of course followed her. All the things he should have said in college came pouring out. Funny how he never felt obligated to declare his status with Rong but expected that from XiGuang about YuSen.😝He never should have touched her when she was getting into the cab. I am glad she protested loudly and long while clearing her name about his accusation. She has made it very clear where she stands, who with, and has left nothing open for debate in the future. I like how Rong strides by without even looking over making her opinion of him clear as well. They are giving him this very long emotional scene with tears in front of his college friends and I can only roll my eyes. It’s a wonder XiGuang makes any efforts to keep in touch. That just shows what type of person she is. YuSen shows up and knows something is up because she went there instead of him picking her up. I love that she hugged him tightly for comfort and seeing him as her strength and support. She then gets introduced to YuSen’s professors and he tells her the story of how they met and how he wooed her. The only stipulation is if he chooses this venture, he has to cut ties with the company. For now it’s not an issue because they need time to set up a lab. There is a different song on the radio as they head home but it’s a good song for them. At work she is teased about the boss checking in and she reminded Jie that prior to work time he was the bf checking in.🤣😂She gets a business call from auntie who wants to know if she is interested in a collaboration. This of course gets a cheerful yes and they will meet to discuss the details.

1st off i have to ask - why is Saifah still around? he came to help Kang's grandmother get back on her feet, now she is - SO why he still there?!? the fact he is very comfortable & doesn't want to leave, is obvious. as this progresses i have actively come to dislike this character & now that he has brought Name in, they gonna destroy that family, before they leave. the sad part is that Sailom who has been working really hard to lead a straight & narrow life, is gonna get painted by the same brush. **********also ironic that Name tried to make Sailom an escort to cover their debts, that could've destroyed his life & his future, but Saifah goes around like a thoughtless moron - care about ur brother & urself. here he can't take of his only family he's suddenly rushing to help a stranger just cause they went to school together - like is this moron brainless?!? ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************throughout had a feeling that something might happen to the grandmother, but it was the father that got shot - which is ironic given the fact that Kang was finally rushing home to see him. but the fact Saifah got caught & Name is nowhere to be found is fitting - cause i don't really care what happens to Saifah. of course his taking the blame, would turn out to be, a way to ensure nothing happens to his brother, but i don't think that he is redeemable as he is the one that brought Name into that house & is at fault for everything that happened as a consequence. ****************************************************************************what bothered me more is the fact that Kang rushed to be by Sailom's side, comforting him - asking about his brother. when Sailom didn't even think to ask about Kang's father?? but it's not shocking Sailom has a tendency to be selfish - like he made a huge fuss about Kang kissing his bff's asses, only then would he accept Kang. yet Guy got hurt & he didn't even think to wonder after him, just left him to go back with Kang & then didn't even call to ask him is he was ok. *************************************** ****************************************************************************************************************************************what i am glad about that i was right about Kang's father, he isn't a bad person, it's just that when ur raising a child alone (or as a couple) it aint easy & u never know what's right or wrong & things that work with one child, might not with another. so as a windowed parent he was doing his best. now that he has found out, instead of just decided on his own he should learn to communicate with Kang (as he aint a baby anymore). as the adult & the parent he will be the deciding factor, but that doesn't mean he talk it out with Kang before deciding.

Clarity, confidence, and closeness

Episode 29 has a lot going on, but in a way that feels purposeful. I loved seeing the FL’s mother make decisions based on what’s best for her, finally stepping out from the shadow of her ex-husband. She’s clear, decisive, and intentional about her future, and it’s incredibly satisfying to watch. The shifting of shares is big news and creates a natural opportunity for the FL to be open with her close friends about who she really is — cue the quiet “boss lady” moment. While she balances time between friends and family, it’s genuinely cute to see how much the ML wants to be with her. Their relationship feels healthy and secure, and they’re both glowing because of it.We also get insight into the FL’s past through her college roommate and her shared feelings for the SML, which adds context without reopening old wounds. On the ML’s side, the possibility of returning to medicine — this time using his knowledge and skills in a different way — feels like a meaningful next chapter. Growth really is the theme here. And then, right before the end credits, a familiar annoyance creeps in when one of the FL’s classmates calls the SML to tell him she’s there. Completely clueless, and entirely unnecessary. It feels like the story is deliberately testing whether past connections can still disrupt the present — or whether everyone involved has truly moved on.

Finding new dreams

XiGuang and mom have a candid chat about why she wants to sell shares. I have to admit surprise that she thought it worth her time trying to be ‘wifey’ material. Just shows how hard other people’s opinions can hit and make you question your place and value. This will be a good move for her and an assist to XiGuang…a definite win win. Nie was so sour at the signing. He is realizing she has shred the last bit of him and with no vested interest can be blamed for any failure on his part nor can he assume any credit for her work going forward. She is out from under his shadow and becoming the cloud that flies high. XiGuang tells her work friends who her mom is. They are definitely surprised but not criticizing her like her college friends. I have no clue why she wants to go to SiLiang’s bday party. This is the girl who quietly pined for Xu and is settling with her current bf. I don’t think there were ulterior motives this time, it was actually a fun meal and celebration. But that is all ruined thanks to Xu knowing she’s there. He was actually having a decent time celebrating Chris’ bday with colleagues. He should just finish the night with them. YuSen is meeting with his prior professor. Their brain interactive software would be a good fit for him. I don’t think he realized she felt he’d been poached by clinical medicine. He is attending a meeting and listening to the possibilities. She is definitely going to keep in touch knowing he wants to get back to medicine. He has signed for his Gpa’s shares so power is shifting with the companies. Waiting to see how that all plays out. The episode ends with Xu perking up at the mention of XiGuang and an invite.😝

Loving it so far

Everything is great, but i feel like wanting more and more every second, like wanting the sory to move forward a bit faster. However I dont want to miss the small details however, now that he is gonna stay with her~~ Looking forward to it.The SML syndrome is going to be extremely strong as far as it seems.

Baek Ah Jin - The Manipulative Sociopath

Dear X is undeniably one dark drama—honestly, it’s the darkest one I’ve watched so far. It’s the kind of show that can mess with your mind in a psychological way just by watching it. It made me curious, and even scared, about how manipulative sociopaths can twist people for their own gain. Baek Ah-jin, portrayed as a manipulative sociopath, is a product of trauma and childhood abuse. The series clearly shows how deeply childhood experiences shape a person. She grew up thinking she needed to use others before they could use her, and as an adult, her manipulative behavior just escalated—wanting more and more no matter who gets hurt in the process. The story itself was incredibly well-written. I’m honestly at a loss for words. From start to finish, the pacing was consistent, and there was never a boring episode. The plot twists were insane and kept making the drama even better. And let’s not ignore the overflowing chemistry between the characters—I didn’t even know who to ship Ah-jin with at some point. If she had just stopped all her evil schemes, she could’ve ended up with one of the male leads, especially my boy In-gang or Jae-oh.As for the cast, Kim Yoo-jung absolutely killed her role. Her acting was beyond outstanding. She delivered every expression and emotion so perfectly that you could literally feel the character through her performance. And the chemistry she had with EVERY partnered male lead was unbelievable. Her chemistry with Hwang In-yeop in particular was top-tier. Their scenes were so good that I almost forgot this was a dark drama. I honestly wish we could’ve seen more of their relationship—they had that lingering kilig effect that stayed with me for days. I still wish they ended up together.Kim Do-hoon’s character, Jae-oh, was like a whole green flag forest. At least for me. He was always there for Ah-jin—doing everything for her, believing in her even when everyone else turned away. Jae-oh is literally the definition of boyfriend material. Kim Do-hoon himself was adorable and handsome throughout the drama, and his smile gave me so many kilig moments. His chemistry with Yoo-jung was also amazing. If it couldn’t be In-gang, I was rooting for Jae-oh. In Ah-jin’s world full of X’s, he was her zero—the one person who truly believed in her. He’s honestly the only second lead I have ever rooted THIS hard for. His death crushed me. I was genuinely sad when they killed off his character. :(((Kim Young-dae’s character, Jun-seo, was… interesting. I’m not sure if his constant expressionlessness was part of the character or just him, but he really felt nonchalant the entire time. To be honest, I didn’t even notice he was the main lead because he barely did anything in most of the episodes. It was basically Jae-oh carrying the entire male storyline while Jun-seo was just… there. Aside from the final episode, Jun-seo didn’t really contribute much, which made his role feel overshadowed. He even doubted Ah-jin in some situations—maybe because he knew her too well and understood that she was capable of murder. Still, he did care for her and wanted the best for her, but it seemed like he eventually got tired of Ah-jin’s endless chaos and decided to end everything. But joke’s on him, she survived. His suicide attempt with her in the car was honestly not the best decision. If he really wanted to go that route, there were easier and less dramatic ways—but no, he chose the most reckless one.Lastly, Hwang In-yeop. OMG, I don’t even know where to begin. He was one of the best “extra” characters in the series. His chemistry with Yoo-jung? Don’t even question it. It was so good that I kept forgetting he wasn’t the official male lead. I hope they get cast together in a proper romance drama someday. His emotions, acting, and heartbreaking scenes were so good that I almost cried with him. One thing’s for sure—I will forever hate Ah-jin for what happened, because she honestly played a huge role in why my boy In-gang took his own life. :(

8/10

I like how Maewnam didn’t second-guess her feelings for Wan. I thought her connection to Mouse Market would stop her from pursuing Wan out of guilt, but she didn’t care and made a move. If her parents meddle with their relationship—which is likely—I hope she will have the same attitude.

Interesting choices from Ah-jin

I knew as soon as they broke up he was gonna kill himself, but i didn't think ah-jin would go as far as to tell him the truth. I know her thing is to reveal her "evil" to her victims but I thought for sure she would've played it smarter, claimed that she couldn't live with the guilt of being the last one to see the grandma or whatever. Especially since she didn't feel the closest thing to guilt she probably can. Anyways, excited to see what comes

All the character are unhinged, mostly the parents!

Time Travel Hijinks for the Win... I love that after episode 8 the story picks up speed into a proper melodrama with betrayals, friendship twists, and allies cropping up in weird ways. Like there's an actual villainess who helps the ML & FL.... I mean she does it for herself... but when has a villainess/vamp not ended up useful, they're 99% the reason the main pairing get together! But the fact that its mostly a romantic comedy its a lot more fun to watch.
