12 mins of emotional chaos

this went from an acting interview to holding hands to dancing in the park to “never abandon me“ to walking alone in the rain to re-watching the interview video clip to tears and abandonment.
in some ways it’s well done. it says a lot in those 12 mins. and conveys a wide range of emotions in such a small time frame.
I did find the score to be a bit distracting, but I understand the use of the music to help carry the emotions through. I found in particular, the funeral music showed the depth of Jay’s heartbreak.
the note at the end to tell us what a rat imir turned out to be explained it all very neatly.

I thought you folded cranes not eggs

This was such a cute story about high school romance! I loved all the characters from the main three to the rest of the friend group! I'm not going to lie I was a little sad when Cha Woo-Min's character ended up being the second love interest instead of the main one. I thought him and Shin Eun-Soo had great chemistry together. I personally thought they had more chemistry than the main two together. I was still really happy though with the main two ending up together because they were really sweet. I also didn't like how Se Ri made it seem like Hyeon didn't like her curly hair and weirdness and we saw that he did. Other than that, I really enjoyed it! Highly recommend!

Let me make an exception this time and put my usual three questions at the beginning of the review:

Was the film good?
Yes, it was a coming-of-age film done with precision, and tied together local history of the place with a positive message.

Did I like it?
I don't get on with the performative SNS of the modern age, and that impacted my enjoyment massively. But I understand that this is my own problem. Now, some days after watching, I find that this *was* an outstanding fim.

Who would I recommend it to?
To people who like coming-of-age stories.

The thing is that I really struggled to get through the first half of this film. Modern socmed and their empty performativity, that is nothing I know or care about. So, to see Masao and his friends fake being handball players and fake caring about their hometown just for likes from people they don't even know, that felt strange to me. How can they love this kind of empty praise? How can they not feel ridiculous when they do this? On an intellectual level, I know that this must be addictive. but I don't (want to) understand.
I also did not understand Masao's gloom and doom attitude, when everybody else around him had already picked up the pieces after the devastation of the 2016 Yumamoto earthquake. On an intellectual level, I know that this film was done very well.
I could see the quality of the story telling and of the actors. I liked that the film was so grounded in the history of the 2016 earthquake and its aftermath (I'm reasonable sure that the places we saw are original locations, especially the temporary shelters). I liked the background characters, the grandpa with the wolly hat, Masao's brother and his girlfriend, Masao's parents -- all of whom were sweet people, who had no idea of what happened with Masao's "dutch ball" and the "SNS". I liked that the boys were realistically boys, not sanitized at all -- rough and hormonal but never mean.

I just wasn't able to bring up a shred of interest, but I know that this is solely my own problem, not a problem with the film itself.

Luckily, this changed in the second half. Or rather, about 35 minutes before the film ended. It was only then that the film showed us its core theme. And the theme surprised me in the best of ways. Earlier, a girl had asked Masao "What are you "striving" for?", and he didn't have an answer. And if the film had followed the usual path for a film like that, the boys would have banded together to win the nationals as underdogs, and would have worked hard and harder, with a lot of "ganbarimasu" -- and they would have beat the odds, or at least they would *almost* beat them etc. etc.
Thing is, this does not happen here. Not quite. Yes, the boys band together -- but they immediately quarrel about trivialities. Yes, they take part in the nationals -- but the focus is on the audience, who came to cheer them on, because, as two elderly people said in the beginning: "It feels good to cheer someone on." -- "Yes, instead of being the ones cheered on." And when Masao leaves for the game in the morning, he tells his mother: "I will have so much fun!"

And I think this is the core of the film.
"To "strive" to enjoy life." Don't live in gloom and doom, after something bad has happended. Live your life to the fullest, find joy in the trivialities. Do what you like, whether it's being a funeral dicrector (like Masao's brother), a hostess (like Masao's brother's girlfriend), or a handball player. Show the world that peace sign and smile into the camera, not for others to cheer you on, but for yourself.

I think you know what you're getting into

It's definitely an interesting watch, but I think if you clicked on it, you know what you're getting into. If you like fifty shades of gray, then I think you'll like this because this one is way better. The actors did great in their roles, and I think had pretty good chemistry as well. I think if you're into any sort of sub/dom, master/pet kind of thing, you'll have a lot of fun watching it. This is a kdrama though so you have to remember it will be a bit watered down, even with the 18+ rating.

Missions of Love: 8/30/2025

First off the cover is very misleading, the show is very PG with them not even kissing till the very end though there are a little bit of weird scenes. Now to the actual plot while it was good it was also very weird in the fact of what was actually going on. There were a lot of weird scenes that took place but the fit the story, also the whole little breakup thingy arc made no sense and cause more harm then good in the reason it happened. I just think the show had potential but ultimate didn't really live up to what it could have been.

I watched this movie as like a background movie for when I was doing work but that didn't really work because I kept getting distracted. This is because while the concept of zombies may be overdone the movie itself was really interesting to watch. Though I am probably really biased because I love zombie movies/show so anyone would keep me interested if we are being honest. Anyways I do think it's a good and quick watch since it's a movie and does end on a happy note.

I really liked the story and the movie itself was very interesting to watch! I was excited about the cast when i heard that Siwan and Leebyunghun would be in this movie. However i was disappointed how quickly siwans character died and he didn't have much screentime 😞🙏🏻. Regardless of that i was happy that the movie didn't get boring at all, the end felt a bit rushed comparing to the length of this movie tho.

The tension syats strong from beginning - end

I was on edge almost the entire time watching this. The tension stays strong from the opening until near the end, making it hard to look away.

The cast delivers solid performances, with Zhang Yixing standing out the most. His portrayal feels raw and painfully real.

Knowing this film is based on real events makes it even more disturbing. It really hit me how terrifying the world of online gambling and scams is — highly organized, structured, and far from harmless.

The only letdown is the ending. After such a strong buildup, the police action felt underwhelming and could’ve been handled better.

Worth to watch! ✨

“who’s the monster?”

eu amo minha melhor amiga.

Watch this for MDL challenge. Let’s discuss movies…

The story follows Ina, a naive bank employee who is struggling with massive debt after being scammed by her smooth-talking ex-boyfriend, Petch. Petch convinced her to take out a loan for his tuition and then disappeared once the money was in his pocket.

One day, a professional con artist named Tower tries to scam Ina over the phone. To his surprise, Ina sees right through him. Instead of turning him in, she blackmails Tower into helping her pull off the massive "revenge con" to get her money back from Petch.

To pull off the heist, they assemble a quirky team:
> Ina: the “client,” learning the art of deception as she goes.
> Tower: the charismatic mastermind behind the scam.
> Ms. Nongnuch: Ina’s former high school teacher, posing as a wealthy businesswoman.
> Jone: Tower’s older brother and a career criminal who provides the "muscle" and technical distractions.

As the plan unfolds, so does something unexpected: the growing bond between Ina and Tower. What starts as forced partnership slowly turns into real connection. Trust builds. Feelings grow.

Now the question:
?Will the heist succeed, and will Ina finally get her money back from Petch…
? Can Tower truly change and leave his life of scams behind…
? And once the con is over… will Ina and Tower walk away from each other, or choose to take a chance on something real…

That's pretty much the story without giving the spoiler. Something fun for you to watch. But really don’t add anything more either…

The editing cripples the story

I like the concept of the movie, but the execution fell flat because the editing style is horrendous!! It’s sooo obvious they edited this for short attention spans and that hindered the overall plot and emotional impact. Great for children, but it’s also training their minds for shorter attention.

There’s too many scene cuts and the story itself didn’t have enough time to breathe. It makes no sense why to two main leads were suddenly liking each other after two conversations. It just bad because the whole thing was rushed and poorly planned. Only a few songs were actually good.

Mature romance

Watch this for MDL Challenge. Just as the title suggests, this is a story about one couple and their relationship across five stages of love, told through different chapters of their lives.

The film follows Lance, an aspiring doctor, and Justine, a career-driven fashion designer, as they navigate the complexities of love over roughly eight years. Unlike traditional rom-coms, this movie is structured into chapters that focus on the lows, conflicts, and turning points of their relationship rather than just the sweet highlights.

2015: The Prologue (Singapore)
Lance (a tourist and medical student) and Justine (a fashion brand manager based in Singapore) meet at a concert. What was supposed to be a one-night stand turns into an intense emotional connection. Before Lance leaves, he introduces the idea of “quantum entanglement”—the belief that once two particles connect, they remain linked regardless of distance. Inspired by this idea, they decide to try a long-distance relationship as Lance returns to the Philippines.

2016: Chapter 2 (The Return to Manila)
Justine gives up her high-paying job in Singapore to move back to the Philippines for Lance. She takes on a consultant role, hoping for a fresh start. But reality hits hard. Lance is overwhelmed by medical school, and Justine feels out of place among his wealthy friends. A heated argument at a house party becomes the breaking point. Their different worlds, ambition, and pressure pull them apart.

2018: Chapter 3 (The Reconciliation)
They cross paths again during the renewal of vows for Justine’s parents. Despite having been apart for a long time, the attraction is still there. They decide to give their relationship another chance and eventually move in together at Lance’s condo.

2020: Chapter 4 (The Pandemic & Betrayal)
The COVID-19 pandemic hits. Lance is now a general surgeon working on the front lines, while both of them are confined to a small condo. The emotional strain, exhaustion, and growing distance lead to betrayal—and ultimately, another breakup.

2023: Chapter 5 (The Finale)
Three years later, Justine has successfully built her own fashion brand. They meet again at a hospital when Justine’s father is admitted. This time, they finally have an honest and raw conversation about everything they’ve been through.

Now the question:
Will they find their way back to each other, or is this truly the end—where both choose to move forward separately and continue their lives apart?

In the end this isn’t a story about perfect love. It’s about real love—messy, painful, beautiful, and unforgettable. If you’re bored with typical romances where everything has to be beautiful and ideal; and want something real, raw, and relatable, this could be the perfect choice for you to watch.
