A Healthy Slow-Burn Romance About Shining Together

โ€œSome people donโ€™t steal your light. They reflect it back to you, brighter.โ€

๐’๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐จ๐ง ๐Œ๐ž is a feel-good, emotionally mature romance that stands out for its healthy relationship dynamics, strong character writing, and comforting tone. This drama truly lives up to its title.

๐Ÿ“– ๐’๐ฒ๐ง๐จ๐ฉ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ
The story follows two financially independent, accomplished adults who meet as coworkers and slowly build a relationship based on mutual respect, patience, and emotional safety.
Rather than rushing into romance, the drama focuses on growth over time, both personally and professionally.

โœจ ๐…๐ž๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ž ๐‹๐ž๐š๐
โ€ข Carefree yet down to earth

This is where the drama truly shines:
โ€ข Relationship starts on a true equal footing
โ€ข Slow burn, mature and realistic

โ€ข They support each other while still encouraging independence and personal growth
A genuinely healthy relationship, from beginning to end.

First Cdrama!!!

I just finished this series a hour ago and wow I must say I'm surprised I even finished it. Prior to this attempt I tried like 2 times to watch this show but the first two episodes were honestly so confusing to me that I dropped it but I'm so glad I tried this last time because after you move past those episodes things start to make sense and the story gets interesting. Honestly overall I loved the story but the ending was so sad imo. So Little Rock I loved his character just through and through and I have no complaints about him he was just an honorable man in this series. Now Cabbage ugh, he really ruined everything I understand his character was that tug of war of wanting power and doing things the right way but at the end his betrayal was just so absurd. His friends gave him so many chances and I just don't understand why he didn't just take it once he found out that Little Rock was still alive. Now Wen Rou her character was a bit annoying in the beginning but by the end she finally matured more and her romance with Little Rock was so cute even though one part near the end made no sense to me. Lei Chun was almost as ridiculous as Cabbage her blaming Su Mengzhen made no sense when she witnessed what happened but okay it was too little too late with her. Her romance with Su Mengzhen was also so cute though. Di Feijing was so goated I also loved his character through and through and I'm sad about what happened to him. Su Mengzshen literally got the worst ending and he was such a cool character. I don't want to say too much but this man had me in tears in so many episodes. Oh and the First Hall Master loving Cabbage literally was just out of nowhere lol. My opinion on how the ending should've been is someone else should've been house master of sunset drizzle. Also Little Rock letting go of his sword felt unnecessary he should've kept it. But I do think everybody should watch this drama it was enjoyable! The music really grew on me after a while too lol!

Cheesy, cute but heartbreaking

This was a very interesting watch. Iโ€™m the first few episodes the drama seemed like a classic cheesy (veryyyy cheesy) romance. And though it did have cheesy lighthearted parts throughout, it was surprising tragic and dark at times. Although I did find myself really enjoying this drama, I couldnโ€™t get past the fact that her lie impacted him so deeply and actually really broke his heart, and the reason she had for lying didnโ€™t seem at all valid after all the damage it did. I hate to be on a manโ€™s side but he really cared for her, was always there for her, and was deeply in love with her, and though she cared for him too it seemed so one-sided. He tried so hard to move on from her but she seemed to do everything in her power to pull him back in and itโ€™s actually heartbreaking to watch. I would find myself vouching for them and swooning over moments of them together, but thinking about the lies took away from it. It got better towards the end and overall I did enjoy it, not the best drama ever but good if youโ€™re looking for a drama with all the cliches.

First Ever Jdrama

Hmm... Sooo this drama I will say i cringed through it and it was corny but it did grow on me. There are some issues between the ML and FL's relationship that bother me which is why I'm kinda like conflicted about this show. I enjoyed the plot this was a pretty light watch nothing too intense honestly if you need something to just mindlessly watch. I don't like the "kawaii" type moments this show had it made me curl my toes and the FL just coming off so desperate in the beginning just the whole insta love bothers me. But when they finally had cute moments I accepted it more. Now I know the ML is supposed to be cold and rude sure whatever but even when they got together the "baka" calling was getting on my nerves. I was seriously like why is he even with her if he's just constantly going to degrade this girl lmao. The ending though was cute so hopefully he stops that nonsense. Besides that I didn't really care for the other couples they felt so quick as well I mean this show is literally 10 eps and we got like two other formed couples somehow. Also not gonna lie the ML's coworker who fell in love with the FL made more sense to me romance wise and he treated her so sweetly but its whatever.

WHEN TWO PEOPLE DONโ€™T SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE...

I was really excited after viewing the first episode. What a great idea! The clever Hong sisters base this series on both the literal and metaphorical idea that human beings โ€œspeak different languages.โ€

The FL is a Korean actressโ€“who speaks only Korean. She has a professional relationship with two potential love interests. Male lead No. 1 speaks only Japanese. Male lead No. 2 speaks Korean fluently (as well as five other languages).

But No. 2 doesnโ€™t understand the FLโ€™s emotional signals. In fact, he has communication problems of his own, which she doesnโ€™t fully appreciate at first. Nevertheless, heโ€™s the person who touches her heart.

We find out gradually, that the FL is mentally unstable. She suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), a real condition, thought to be triggered by a severe childhood trauma.

Sheโ€™s also in the middle of a prolonged film shoot, which takes place intermittently in various picturesque locations. Other peopleโ€™s livelihood, and her own self-worth, depend on her ability to tough it out and finish the job.

This drama gets a lot of things right. The settings, the symbolism, the music, and the atmospherics are all effective. The day-to- day life of the film crew is something you donโ€™t often see in K-dramas, and I liked that.

The dialog, especially between the FL and the second ML, is confusing. The FL keeps laying her heart on the line, but he keeps rejecting her. Is he afraid of getting hurt? Is he misinterpreting her? And she also has communication problems with dude No. 1. This drama is a bumpy ride, and the plot doesnโ€™t altogether make sense. Everyone seems to be working way too hard to get it right, and, unfortunately, the effort is showing.

Still, this is an extremely original drama. But it may be that the premise is stronger than the script.

Surprised to not like this

I don't have much to say about this one honestly, I was expecting to like it since everybody praises this show. I guess I could say that but I feel the same with Goblin so far lol. But that show isn't as bad as how I feel towards this drama. I don't like the FL just her attitude was annoying although SOME reactions I can understand based on her past. Her insta love towards the ML made no sense to me and even with the progression of the story I still didn't feel any chemistry. Their story almost didn't make sense their love drama lol, I was more interested in the patients backstories in the ward more than anything. But the ML's brother's acting was so amazing I think he protrayed his character beautifully. I forgot to write this review since I saw this last year but I really don't remember anything memorable from the show.

Khemjira Will Survive and so will my hopes in Domundi from now on

Khemjira is easily a must watch show, even if you haven't had exposure to BL stories before. I wanted to be critical so bad but I couldn't help but just enjoy the show for it was. It has a lot of deservingly viral moments. Production is top notch and by far the best in the genre and there are a lot of locations the drama is shot in so no scene feels like the production team was limiting themselves in any way.

This show rightfully caught people's attention the moment its pilot trailer aired. It immediately stood out in the crowd of BLs for its unique setting and genre. While many BL production companies acted fast and try out the themes this series does before it aired, they just couldn't deliver it in a way this show did.

I'll say it out right. I disliked every Domundi show before this. The production for their shows always seemed extravagant but the actual content was just slop. To see Domundi come up with a show that has both the budget and actually good content is a huge miracle itself.

Here's what I liked about this show. This BL is the ultimate representation of what one can expect from other Thai BLs. I'd usually be unimpressed that the show is doing familiar tropes but why it actually works here is because it actually takes the best Thai BL drama tropes and puts them together in this one beautiful mixture that somehow just works wonder. So if this is one's first experience with Thai BLs, I can imagine them being extremely impressed with everything.

The cast is really likeable. All of it and that's something I haven't felt from this genre in ages. The ladies of the cast entirely carried the acting department despite having just supporting roles and they deserve far more recognition for the work they did to make this show what it was.

However, the biggest selling point was Keng Harit's role in this drama no doubt. He's one handsome man that has crazy amount of swoon worthy looks and characters in the show. I know it's crazy but this alone becomes 50% of the reason why you become so engaged to the show. I felt his character and his acting skills were best explored throughout the entire show. It's hard to not fall in love with his character's depth and range. The mysterious hot guy trope always wins. And I'd argue even if they had any another handsome guy over Keng Harit in this role, the show would most likely not take off the way it did. This role needed him.

The overall storyline was well thought but what stood out to me was the amount of scenarios each episode had. I know people hated the length but I feel like there was a very valid reason for this show to be this lengthy. Unlike I Feel You Linger in Air and many other BLs, each episode had back to back memorable scenes being thrown at you nonstop. It didn't feel like it was stalling anywhere or had filler moments. Everything just kept going on and I really admire that.

I still had some issues with the show which I think could easily make this show a 10/10 if they had handled them better. First, my biggest issue has to be the romantic development. There were a lot of really good slow burn moments where its implied that the leads are attracted to each other but it just should've been far more explict. There clearly aren't enough moments where they clearly just fall in love with each other together at the same time so it just feels like the confession is a bit out of place. My favorite scene by far is when the Master first asks Khem to call him by his name in Ep 8. That scene just stood out to me a lot despite its simplicity and I really wished we just got more of such full fledged romance before they got together.

I also somewhat dislike how they set aside only episodes 5-8 for the BL elements but then they simply move back to the plot progression which leads to their romantic development being sidelined again until the end of Ep 10. I would've loved them to keep up with both the plot and romance at the same time rather than focusing on one more than the other.

Second, Rampheung as a villian was a bit weaker than I hoped. Her backstory and conclusion was amazing but I dislike how quick they take away her mysterious and powerful image. I feel like they should've kept her as mysterious and strong as possible until the very end. It always should've been the characters barely escaping her wrath rather than the characters somehow managing to stall her efforts.

Lastly, Khem was a bit too much of a damsel in distress. I would've loved to see him being more bratty in some instances. Now I don't think Khem should've been someone exact opposite but I feel like if they somehow managed to integrate a bit more of enemies to lovers trope into this show too, it would've been everything.

Overall, I had a very fun time watching this. I've seen many great BLs and truthfully, I'm genuinely surprised by how much I ended up liking this. I just think it goes to show that a good BL needs two things: a good plot and execution backed up by high budget. (and also a super handsome guy like Keng to play the lead)

A missed opportunity.

The best thing about that I can say about this drama is it was a missed opportunity, an opportunity to give us a drama as good and worthwhile as Crash Landing On You. I think the main fault must be with either the production house or the streaming service, because they restricted this drama to only 12 episodes. The reason I could give this drama 8 rating is because it was after a long time a drama this beautiful appeared from Korea. But it didn't live up to the expectations and waiting after they first showed the teaser. This drama has it all, a very interesting premise- the male is translating the love of another for the female lead, who he likes. This drama had all the elements in the making of a very successful drama. The first episode was superb. The storyline of the male lead in love with his brother's girlfriend added depth to the character. They could have taken this to the next level on emotional scale, that could have made the drama for generations to remember. And what they did was, not only did they didn't proceed much with this storyline, but they also completely ignored his brother's storyline with the second female lead. They didn't give much space to complex families of the leads, the emotional scars that those leave on the leads, everything typical for a Korean drama and what made them good, even though sometimes exhaustive if done too much. But not going there at all was a shock. And this lead to a completely shallow second lead storyline. Kim Seon-ho was charismatic. Go Youn-jung was cute and funny and relatable. The sceneries were beautiful. They shot at beautiful places. (why didn't they give a reference to Goblin when they shot in Canada.) They story had emotional depths, I could feel it. If only they gave it more time.

THIS is the GL I want!!

I don't think I can put into words how incredible this show is. A tense, drama-filled plot mixed with a fantastic romance, all tied together with some of the best directing and cinematography I've ever seen in a Thai show. Just. WOW. This show had me locked in from start to finish. I love a show where the romance isn't the only plot, and the drama and conflicts in this show outside of the romance really drew me in.

Bell is celebrating finishing college with her boyfriend and his friends at some club her boyfriend wanted to go to. Though it's not quite her scene, she tries to have fun. When the cops show up, Bell tries to find the car keys in her purse and instead finds drugs that aren't hers - but when the cops catch her throwing them in the trash, there's no way she can talk herself out of it (not to mention, her boyfriend is clearly not going to help her). Once in prison, she quickly learns the social hierarchy there: her and her cellmate Kae keep away from top dog Dao and her sisters, and Bell's told very clearly to avoid the murderer Claire, known as "rabid dog," at all costs. But when Bell gets in trouble with Dao's crew, it's Claire that ends up helping her. Once a loner, Claire starts to taking a liking to Bell, and Bell seems to feel the same way. However, between Kae's jealousy, Dao and her sister's business, and power-hungry guards, having one person by your side is never quite enough to keep you safe.

This show delivered on EVERY front. The tension, the drama, the romance, EVERYTHING was great. Prison plots can go either way for me, but this one was so good every episode that I cannot recommend it enough. I feel like there are a lot of mid GLs, but this is NOT one of them. I loved the characters so much, and thought their story was so well done. If you're looking for a GL that is totally different and still hits every mark THIS IS IT!

To be loved is to be seen and understood

What a show! The cinematography alone was breathtakingly beautiful, at times the show resembled a painting. A true visual feast!

I really enjoyed the story, and the complexities of the characters, how each layer unfolded, and how the leads learned to understand each other beyond language. Hiro asked Ho Jin if things had gone differently, if it wasnโ€™t for the language barrier between him and Mu Hee. But, as Ho Jin points out, even though Ho Jin and Mu Hee speak the same language, they didnโ€™t quite understand each other at times. Despite learning Korean, I donโ€™t think Hiro understood Mu Hee as a person; her fears, her anxiety, her self-sabotaging ways throughout the show (which sometimes felt too relatable). She needed reassurance, a pillar, stability, someone who understands *her*, who looks beyond what she says to understand what she *needs*,*wants*, *means*. She needed someone to read in between the lines, and despite his initial frustration, Ho Jin did exactly that. He looked beyond her words and saw her person.

That is not to say that he didnโ€™t need reassurance too; they both had attachment/abandonment issues. But I just loved Mu Heeโ€™s earnestness in her pursuit of the male lead; she was endearing, awkward, and daring in the best way. Ho Jin, on the other hand, was gigatron-master-yearner 3000, and Kim Seon Ho bodied the character so wellโ€”but he does romance so well anyway, so no oneโ€™s surprised!

The second couple โ€ฆ was kind of just there. Their development was weird, and the chemistry lowkey non-existent. I donโ€™t see why they had to become a couple, but it was nice that Ji Sun and Ho Jin got their closure; it was also nice to see the manager-actor relationship between Yong U and Mu Hee! They felt like siblings, which I liked. Mu Hee meeting her mother happened off-screen, which is a bit of a bummerโ€ฆ I would have liked to see how she faces her, and finally frees herself from her past, but the fact that she finally found the courage to face it in the first place was nice enough! This seems to be unpopular, since everyone wants a show of its own for this character, but I never warmed up to Hiro. Despite its meaning changing over time, I didnโ€™t like how he kept referring to Mu Hee as โ€œZombieโ€, and he was weirdly mean to her in the beginning of their partnership for the reality show. I also found it hilarious how none of them ever thought about using a translation app while communicatingโ€ฆ they really lowkey did not care to understand each other lol.

The show took so long to see the light of day, and here I am finishing it in a couple of days โ€ฆ I had a great time watching it; the leads had great chemistry, I was constantly rooting for them; the cinematography was fantastic, and so was the music.

4 leaf clover

Wow. I just finished binging this drama in 2 days.
The production was amazing.
Especially the cinematography!!!
I'm from Alberta, and Calgary and Banff are an hour and a half drive from the city, so the representation of Canada in this drama is realistic.
If any reader finds the scenery beautiful, I would definitely suggest visiting Calgary as your next travel destination.
We are cheaper than the US. We are kinder and more respectful. Hehe.
Anyway, the drama itself is WONDERFUL.
I love the story. Their first encounter. And how the story went smoothly.
Those little moments of jealousy. Us, viewers, noticing when he is falling for her... and all the little things he does that make him so wholehearted.
The confusing part for me is Do Ra Mi's part. It was explained, but I guess my brain is not processing it.
Hiro as the second lead is so CUTE HAHA.

I love his character, from a hater of MunHee to actually falling for her.

I just love everything about this drama.
Kim SeonHo with his four languages and his accents ARE โ™ก
YounJung portraying two characters is giving the DEAR X drama.
I've been a fan of YounJung since ALCHEMY OF THE SOUL SEASON 1. She may not be the main character, but the way she demonstrated her character is just jaw-dropping.
Ever since, I've been looking forward to her future roles.
And I'm proud of her work in this drama.
She definitely deserves all the recognition.
Truly proud of my unnie!

To my SEONHO, I AM PROUD OF YOU AS WELL.
From 2 Days and 1 Night to becoming a successful actor, all your struggles and hard work have paid off.
Proud of you, Jagiya!!โ™คโ™กโ™ก

This drama definitely deserves awards!

ML was really bad to both sisters

Actually I watched this last year and tried to rewatch. I don't count how many this drama adaptation but the only actor i knew in this drama is Zhao Caizi.

The best thing and only real difference with another version of the reborn, husband switch story is that the sisters mom is quite neutral and not biased into bad sister. She keeps hoping her daughter isn't totally lost to greed, yet won't leave the FL or herself to be wronged.

I love the leads characters styling and makeup. There is not really many verbal sparring which is refreshing to watch.

The cons are the ML. He was the worst ML and actual antagonist and he mistreat both sisters with "white moonlight" but with difference SFL was too straightforward and the "white moonlight" can win against her since her emotion was not stable while FL strategy was little smart and her calmness can win against the "white moonlight".

The chemistry between Zhao Caizi and Wen Liang are feels like comrade than married couple.

Personally for the level of the actors this story is quite decent and SFL really has potential to be main leads.

You can try watch this if you didn't have any drama left.

Don't Forget Your Notepad ;)

The drama truly deserves the highest rating. The plot is incredibly gripping and the pacing is quick. I didn't feel bored for even a second. You do have to pay close attention to the characters' names though. If I watch it a second time, I'll take a piece of paper and write them down. Thatโ€™ll make it much easier to follow the story later.

What about the actors and their performances? They fit their roles perfectly. The emotions between the three main couples develop slowly but intimately. There's great chemistry between Yan Chi (played by Ruipeng) and Shen Wan (played by Lindy). They trust each other and their love grows deeper and deeper.

And funny enough โ€” Ao Ruipengโ€™s face conveys such deep emotion that when heโ€™s worried, I feel like an older sister who just wants to hug him right away. Heโ€™s a tall guy (1.88m), but sometimes he looks like a cute child. Iโ€™m appreciating his acting more and more.

A journey from Rongcheng to your heart

I'd like to start by saying that I've enjoyed this drama alot to the point that it is definitely one of my favorite dramas I've ever watched and definitly set the standards for modern romance very high. It's only the beginning of the year, but I can confidently say that this is most likely the drama of the year. I believe there are several elements that turns this drama into a memorable experience, differentiating itself from many others of the same genre.

Novel - Love between Lines is a 28 episode drama losely adapted from the novel "Ga Xi". I've to praise the screenwriter of this drama on this because they took about 10-20% of the elements of the novel and drastically improved on the material they had to work with, resulting in this masterpiece.

Directing - Another huge reason behind the quality of this drama is director Mao De Shu, who is known for having directed some of the best youth dramas, namely Lovely Us and When I Fly Towards You. In terms of cinematography, the drama is very gorgeous to look at and the scenes flow seamlessly between each other. There are some well done transitions that are made to "trick" the audience, and they up helping improve the overall opinion of the drama. There are no loose ends in the plot and there is no filler. However, in my opinion , the biggest positive from the directing is how thoughtful it is. Scenes are directed with intention and details are imbued into actions, and I think this is something that is specifically very important because it adds layers to the drama in all kinds of aspects, making an action that would otherwise be normal in another drama feel special here, because it was earned with every intention that led up to there.

Acting - Great performances all around, especially Chen Xing Xu, Lu Yu Xiao and Dai Xu. The one who impressed me the most is Lu Yu Xiao. I honestly did not expect her to be this well-suited for this role. It's rare to see an actress that fits so well in both historical and modern dramas. She can transpire cuteness at will, as well as vulnerability, maturity and confidence at diferent times. Hu Xiu is just such an attractive character that always surprises positively with her actions and values when you least expect, that makes you not surprised that the ML fell so in love with her even against his will.

When it comes to Xiao Zhi Yu, he's a big green flag. He's respectful, considerate towards others, very thoughtful and very careful. He does not wish for others to be hurt for his revenge, especially those who are more close to him. He grew up lonely so that he could he exact his revenge, but because of that the warmth he receives from the FL is that much more relevant to him, and so he attaches alot of importance to it. His jealous and speechless looks are also hilarious and he suits both republican era costumes and suits so well.

Chemistry - Explosive and frightenly natural. Hu Xiu and Xiao Zhi Yu are just made for each other. They are so comfortable from the beginning of the relationship because they have spent so much time getting to know each other beforehand. Also, FL is very proactive in the relationship and is not afraid to tease or flirt boldly with the ML, which is something quite rare. All their interactions are heart-fluttering, even non-romantic ones, because as I've said before one of the strong points of this drama is the drama is the attention to detail. Independently of what their relationship is at any point of the drama, even when they are heartbroken, they are always concerned about each other, and I believe that is the main point that makes the relationship between the two characters so moving. They are definitly my favorite drama couple from all dramas I've watched.

Very good OSTโ€™s that blend well with the drama and leave you emotional

Excellent character arcs for all the main characters and supporting characters.

Interesting game concept within a mesmerizing city

Use of architectural elements and nuances throughout the drama

Enjoyment/Rewatch Value - Ridiculously High. I've been looking for a romance drama that would be addictive to watch and I've finally found it. The combination of all the elements I've mentioned so far make this drama very rewarding no matter how many times you watch it.

"Love Between Lines" is a very addictive drama with compelling characters that pulls you into their world and has that special element that makes it different from everything else you have watched before and that can make you attached to it. Despite it being "only" a romance drama, I can assure you it is much more than that. Lastly, I hope that you can have as good an experience as I had while watching this drama.

P.S. Don't forget to watch the after-credit scene in episode 28.

A realistic romance that breaks classic love stories

Many people criticize the drama for its time jumps and some visual or narrative inconsistencies. I was a bit pessimistic at first, but from the very first episode I felt it worked, and as the episodes went on, it remained engaging. I havenโ€™t watched it all the way through, but up to this point, I find it interesting and thoughtful.

SPOILER
You can clearly see the exchange of situations: the guy, who started at the top with wealth, success, and confidence, ends up at the very bottomโ€”lost, emotionally unstable, and burdened with debts he can barely repay despite his efforts. This reversal breaks the idealized image of the male lead and shows a vulnerability rarely exposed in romance dramas. Dao, who at first was fragile and unstable, gradually blossoms and shines alongside her partner, but seems not to last in the end. It shows that life is made of ups and downs no matter your situation

What makes the drama even stronger is their mutual support and loyalty throughout all these years, despite the hardships and differences. And an essential point: the acting performances are excellent. Their chemistry is palpable, and in some aspects, it could even rival certain K-dramas (if Iโ€™m not exaggerating).

In the end, 9 Years of You is not just a romanceโ€”itโ€™s a realistic mirror that reminds us we can overcome any challenge through the bonds we maintain.
