A Slow-Burn Love Sci-Fi Drama Where the Antagonists were more Modernized than the Protagonists.

I can say this was in my more anticipated dramas this year as I wanted to see the pairing of Reba with CXX as well as ZL as the awesome villain she can play and the sci-fi aspect as that's rare in cdramas. Now while the acting by literally everyone was spot on, the storyline had a lot of issues after the halfway mark. Let's discuss.

Pros: The chemistry of the leads and everyone's relationships be they team evil or good was the top contender. We had an ancient enemy known as the fiends that in their non-human forms looked like aliens that wanted to take over earth and a group of hunters appointed by an ancient king called the Nanshan or South Mountain Hunters and this duty was passed down from generation to generation. What the hunters didn't realize until the ML or YT met the FL or NJL was that the fiends had found a way to take on human forms and only those that still lived underground looked alien-eske. They were living amongst humans and the one in charge or LRX played by ZL had a whole farm where she used generations of actual kidnapped humans as "blood bags" or basically every inch of their body is consumed by a fiend who than looks like that person and is stronger than humans. But they are careful in their selection as they don't want to attract too much attention.

YT's parents and sister (about her we learned only briefly at the very end but not how) were murdered because his father owned a mine which could be used by LXR--or fake Lin as I called her because she took on YT's mom's name after the fact--for when the fiends went through their transformation to human. So Fake Lin and her posse of fiends plus the humans she employed—lord only knew why they were so loyal to her—raised YT and an unrelated sister that was born, to later be used as a blood bag herself. YT didn't know the truth until he grew up and found his mother's diary and from then on both he and LL (the sister) who also knew the truth lived in constant fear and had to conduct themselves appropriately but he was definitely trying to learn the truth and find ways to free them both.

It wasn't until he met NJL that everything changed. NJL was a sculptor by day and a Nanshan Hunter, one of the strongest because she wielded the Mad Blade as it was known. Her mother was one as well but was presumably killed 20 years ago and not seen again until the end. NJL was trying to quit the hunters but it kept coming back to her. She too lost her family to the fiends; first her mother and then her father took his own life from depression. She was raised by uncle Jiang who was the leader of the hunters and he and another woman trained her when she was a child and gave her, her blade which she had to accept by giving her blood as she was a direct descendant.

Through a series of encounters with YT, NJL learns to her horror that the fiends are now walking around in human form and this is why the last 20 years when they patrol the mountain it's been relatively quiet. Her relationship with YT starts off as combative but as he proves with information that he is trustworthy, they slowly become friends, than partners who help each other when wounded and other times and than it turns romantic. It's a slow burn which is expected given that romance isn't the primary storyline. To YT, NJL is the hope he's been looking for in him seeking the truth.

Meanwhile, fake Lin starts to suspect her "son" is finding out more than he needs to. We never really learned what plans she had for him other than helping her run her huge company filled with unsuspecting scientists and other people who do research on different DNA and other things meanwhile all of that is used in her quest to turn more and more of her kind into human form. She does charity work and other things on the side like investment and marketing that are legitimate to hide her side business. We start seeing clashes between fiends, their human sidekicks and hunters when one is kidnapped briefly and while he is released, Jiang-Shu and 4 others are taken and this is the start of everything that culminates in the battle at the end.

There's a second couple of LL and the doc friend and sponsored by fake Lin named Lv Xian who are pushed together because the only way LL can become a blood bag is if she gets married and has kids. Fake Lin feeds her raw meat and drugs her with milk. But the two become friends and later more than that. He helps YT and even NJL later rescue LL from the house; he also knows the truth but only reveals it to YT at the end. But YT gets caught, first with his mother's diary for which he is imprisoned at home for at least 15 days and than because a jealous hunter XS who has a thing for NJL, says his name in the exchange of prisoners with fake Lin which is when she realizes that YT "betrayed" her when he and his whole family "should be grateful to her for everything she's done." Delusional doesn't begin to cover it. So he's imprisoned in the mine for over a month and when NJL and another hunter rescue him, it's obvious he's gotten severe trauma. It takes a long time for him to come out of it; but he does with the help of NJL's now blended family; her caretaker, LL, and a dumplings guy who was also saved from the fiends when he harbored LL for a bit.

YT and NJL's romance picks up more at the end after her selective amnesia goes away and they have their "reunion" kiss and another intimate moment though not shown, it's understood. It's an HE for all intents and purposes; creepy ending notwithstanding. The entire story I won't tell but it's pretty cool in the first half. The second is as well but the storyline takes a dip at YT's mine time and never really recovers; but that'll be in the cons. Usually I list the characters that I liked the best, but honestly every single one did a great job. The leads and ZL were the best but I can't point to my favorite character because they all pulled their weight. The fights were great except the last one; my favorite was the one at the farm between NJL and fake Lin.

The amazing CGI especially of the non-human fiends, and that red cave thing where the earth demons dwelled plus the membrane NJL's mom put her in where YT rescued her from. I think that's why this show got an S+. The entire soundtrack fits perfectly as did costumes, sets, etc.

Now let's head to the cons. Sadly, there were a lot of those.

Cons: They started cutting scenes around the time YT was in the mine and the rest was spliced together; things you'd see in previews or official photos, you never saw on screen. There were so many plot holes, you could fall into one. Some of the examples are: They hadn't trained in 20 years; everything was outdated and they were at a severe disadvantage which is why the final battle was a hot mess. They weren't even physically strong to take on the human fiends let alone their non human counterparts. When was the last time any of them went to a gym? It's like YT knew how strong fake Lin was because she lifted him off the ground with one hand when he was locked in the house but he used the tranq gun like a bat? I mean really? He couldn't shoot her? She disarmed him in under 3 seconds and shot him instead. Make it make sense, plz. Uncle Jiang knew about the earth demons (NJL's mom being the only one who retained her consciousness) but never told the hunters and XS only read half of it from a book but never studied further to know they would take out their own brethren. Everyone was waiting for a serious battle because of the build up and we got that?!? The writers did put the hunters at a serious disadvantage by making them not modernized like their enemy was. They could have used Mad Blade's blood to make real bullets with real guns, so much could have been adapted.

The fiends had adapted with resources, modern tools, even drones at one point, while the hunters looked almost embarrassing in comparison, stuck in outdated methods. Viewed from an outside perspective, the hunters seemed like a poorly maintained car garage, while the fiends operated like the Italian mob when they had real power. In that final battle, the hunters were pretty much slaughtered and that’s because they spent 20 years sitting on their asses eating, joking, and not training and their equipment was 20 years behind schedule, AT LEAST. Then there was the fact that they could not watch each other‘s backs and that’s why SQ was ambushed, which by the way was so out of the blue; like he barely got a chance to fight. But all the strong hunters had to sacrifice themselves one way or another or get badly hurt to kill essentially 2 human fiends because NJL with her "Mad Blade Medicine", took out the two huge non-human ones. But at least Jiang-Shu got some revenge and killed the dude with the blade who killed him, but I think he was glad that he did that. Fake Lin just stood by the side waiting for YT (who by the way basically shot maybe three times the entire time; otherwise he just ran around and pointed that rather useless tranq gun) and NJL. And the anticlimactic non-fight between fake Lin and NJL. We were really building up to it and literally nothing happened; other than talking but then they stabbed each other and it was over as NJL fell and then mom came flying in and decapitated fake Lin. 32 episode built up to that; what a waste!

Also when YT was rescuing FL from the membrane, his hands were red and blistered but next scene, they're fine. And probably the most ridiculous part was the selective amnesia. She remembered everybody except him. Every single time something was brought up she remembered the fight, she remembered the people. He was there alongside her, by her side every step of the way and yet nope, she didn’t remember him. Thankfully that lasted only 1. 25 eps. There were more but I already forgot them.

Would I recommend it? Despite the absolutely insane amount of plot holes in the cons and cut scenes, the series itself is still quite good. Hence it got the score it did. The acting was phenomenal and the overall story is good. Watch and judge for yourselves.

Time travel with happy ending

Queen and I takes me straight back to my younger self, one of those OG K-dramas I first stumbled upon. Funny enough, the Tagalog dub made it even more hilarious, so watching it in subtitles feels slightly tamer but the charm is still there. Time travel can be tricky with all the butterfly effect chaos, yet this one keeps things simple and satisfying: happy ending, minimal complications, and while it’s a bit less believable, it’s totally watchable.

Seeing it through adult eyes actually made me appreciate the depth I didn’t catch back then. It’s still a feel-good ride with just the right amount of drama and romance, and it breezes by quickly without dragging. Perfect for a short binge when you want something light, fun, and nostalgic.

A Classic!

Loved the Korean adaptation and definitely enjoyed the original Chinese version as well!

I was bored and suddenly thought of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Since I've rewatched the Korean adaptation a lot of times and was also bored of Korean dramas, I remembered that it was an adaptation of a Chinese drama. I decided to watch Scarlet Heart with no expectation and ended up finishing it in 2 days.

Released in 2011, the production quality was definitely outdated. The story, however, was well-written to the point that it kept me hooked even if I already know, more or less, how it goes as I've watched the Korean adaptation first. I do have to applaud the actors though. Honestly, the only ones I was most familiar with were Liu Shishi and Li Gengxin. However, as expected from seasoned actors, everyone did an incredible job and exceeded my expectations. Nicky Wu and Kevin Cheng definitely left a lasting impression on me. Nicky Wu's charismatic aura as the fourth prince and Kevin Cheng's portrayal of quite strength and vulnerability just got me so immersed. Liu Shishi also did an amazing job at portraying the cheerful and bubbly Maertai Ruoxi turned weak, apathetic, and helpless. Li Gengxin was also great at portraying the loyal, kindhearted, and affectionate fourteenth prince. All the actors definitely did an amazing job! I have to say, their use of older actors, the men especially, for the main characters gives the characters a different sense of charismatic, manly appeal compared to newer costume drama these days.

That said, this drama is definitely worth watching, especially if you've watched the Korean adaptation. I wish we could see more new costume dramas featuring older, seasoned actors like this one.

Binged the series because I couldn't stop watching - there was no place to take a break

The series is compelling from the very beginning and so well paced that just when I thought I had a handle on the plot it twisted again - not the kind of contrived twists that make you want to throw a book at your TV, but the jaw dropping "Wow, I did not see that coming!" kind. If you can stand your heart being ripped out in ways you did not anticipate, this series will not disappoint.

The two leads are extraordinary. I'm a relative newcomer to K-drama and this is only the second time I've seen Jeon Do Yeon. I loved absolutely everything about her character performance in Kill Boksoon. I was blown away by her portrayal of a much different character in this series - one that initially appears weak and fragile, but keeps digging deeper and stands strong until the explosive end. I don't know what to say about Kim Go Eun that hasn't already been said at one time or another. There aren't enough words of praise for the performance tour de force she she gave in The Price of Confession. IMO, Kim Go Eun is one of the most versatile and powerful actors of her generation, maybe any generation. Given how young she is and the varied and impressive body of work she's already catalogued, I think my assessment will stand the test of time.

Kudos, too, to the Director who did one of the best jobs of non linear story telling I've seen; to the Art Director's choice of a color palette and scene/set creation that built a mood of gritty realism that hit all the right notes; to the Scriptwriter for creating a story that is heartbreaking in all the right ways and who birthed a lot of key characters and managed to infuse each of them with humanity and purpose; to the entire cast, because there was no dead weight here - everyone was playing at the top of their game (special shout out to the #1 prison guard for the touching humanity of her portrayal); and, finally, to whoever put together the soundtrack because it uplifted every scene it touched.

One Cozy Costume Chinese Drama

This female-centric show was so warm and cozy. It had the perfect mixture of comedy, familial relationship, romance, business, politics, sad moments, happy moments.. everything!

This drama features the story of Mrs. Li as she settles down with her family in Bianjing and seeks suitors for her 4 (or 5) unmarried daughters. The story was well-written and well-paced with several episodes allotted to focus on the story of each daughter.

The first part of this drama focuses on the third daughter's story, which includes the second daughter's marriage problems, as well as the Li family settling down and building a business in Bianjing. The second part of this drama focuses on the first daughter's marriage followed by the third part focusing on the fourth daughter's marriage. Then comes the story of the youngest daughter's marriage. Lastly, we get to see how the Li family's adopted daughter gets her happily ever after with a twist in the end.

I love how each woman in the Li family has their own unique personalities and we can see clearly how their stories connect in this drama. My favorite scene in this drama is when the Li sisters or the Li son-in-laws would meet to discuss their game plan or confide with one another. The Li sisters scenes are definitely empowering and gives me a pump of adrenaline because I always look forward to the creative ideas they have to solve their problems. Whereas the Li son-in-laws scenes are hilarious (even when the story is actually sad) because they're so soft for their wives and they bond over the Li women domineering traits.

One thing I wish they could've improved is to add more scenes of the growing Li family in the end. This drama closes with the family celebrating Madam Li's birthday and a new storefront sign for the Li business. I wish they could add more scenes of the grandchildren playing around and the big family celebrating together instead of only showing Madam Li, the daughters, son-in-laws, one granddaughter, and staffs just staying still celebrating the birthday and the new signage. However, this was just something good to have as the ending of this drama was already pleasant and cozy.

I have to also give credits for the production. The color grading, set, outfit, hairdo, makeup, sfx, everything was done flawlessly. The producers also did a very great job at the casting because each actor suits their characters so well! The actors also did a great job at bringing their characters to life. Ni Hong Jie was definitely hilarious as Madam Li. The actors playing the Li daughters and son-in-laws each did a great job at portraying their respective character's unique personality. Not to mention, other supporting actors also did a great job as well. I am quite surprised that Zeng Shun Xi played the emperor though. The casting was definitely high-quality!

All in all, this was one cozy, heartwarming, and funny drama that I personally enjoyed a lot. Definitely recommended for those wanting to watch a rather light family drama over food or while snugging in your favorite blanket.

This drama has it's own charm.

Story
This drama is made as same as people's common life. It tells us about 1980s IMF crisis and how hard was that time for korean people. Also this drama story feels like I'm watching in 2016 drama. It feels like old kdrama vibe. This drama give us more advices about life. In hard times we should believe and help each other. Story was quite different from other drama stories. I mean this is not rich man poor woman drama code. This based on real life and the characters was hard to live that time. But this drama gives a hottest feeling about family and people. Even this story wasn't major hit it isn't bad like people telling it. If you want to give it a try don't hesitate just watch.

Characters
It's obvious that my fv characters are kang tae poong and oh mi seon. They have a insane chemistry. ML & FL was strong in there ways. When things get hard they are good to rely on. I love tae poong character so much. He is good, forgivable, helpful, loveable character. Mi seon was also good FL. She helped many times tae poong without hoping anything from him.
Because of jun ho this drama was more attractive to me. He has his ways to charm and shine this drama. Kim min ha was suitable for mi seon's character. She has natural charm fits for the character. Also typhoon family employees acted well. With them drama is not boring but it becomes interesting.

Music
I really hoped strangers with flowers on a crowded train song will released. It so fit the train scene. I hear many times it. lee jun ho's song was soo good to hear. I also liked updraft mv from stray kids han. It was heart exciting ost. Other osts was good as well but i don't remember their names.

As a lee jun ho fan i never doubt about his dramas. He acted so many dramas and they were all became my fv. First episodes (especially the train) scene vibe was really amazing. It was so eye candy to me. I like this drama calm old vibe. If anyone here have doubts about watching this drama. I'm telling you to give it a try. It's not bad as others telling. Sometimes you can find drama is amazing. 💖💖😁

Expectation

First of all I love the acting of all the casts
they did very well and the kdrama is a wonderful, amazing and also a lesson
But when I was watching the last ending it doesn't seem like it was the ending,so are we expecting season 2 or not because for it to end like that is strange.
So are we EXPECTING SEASON 2 or not?
i really really hope that there will be season 2.
Many people have not have their revenge on Baek ahn ji and I have a question, who took her in when she rescued herself from the accident?

I wish I could start by saying “ I was pleasantly surprised by how good the drama was.. " But I can’t.. I will just join the echo of others and say this was a mess of intentions.. The drama tries to look smart and progressive in the Hollywood way, without actually being either.. It ends up being visually dull and emotionally empty, filled with the kind of ' look at us ' choices clearly meant to impress a certain crowd rather than serve the story..

It’s astonishing that so many people were involved in the production of this drama and nobody had the brain to tell them, “Don’t air this mess yet.. At least work on it more and refine it before throwing it out there to get criticized and torn apart..” I honestly don’t know what they were trying to achieve here.. Anyone with half a sense could predict this would end up as a mediocre drama, if not a dumpster fire.. Had some fun moments that made me laugh and some mild intimate scenes as well.. But that's it.. The dialogues, with all those coding jargon was a complete disaster.. They tried way too hard.. The script had no real substance.. I am pretty sure they were counting on the trendy inclusions to give the show a boost, to make it seem more modern and appealing but it just came off forced and unnecessary.. With some rewriting, better dialogues and decent improvements in the characters, this could have avoided being such a mess.. It still wouldn’t have become anything great, but at least it wouldn’t have been received this poorly..

It starts out okay, though right from the beginning you have to forget logic to go along with the plot.. By halfway, it falls apart into a series of cliched, silly plot points.. This is just my opinion, the vibrator scene was funny, yes but it also felt unnecessary and a bit out of step with what you would normally expect from a Korean drama..

And that flashback scene generated with AI?? What even was that?? Horrible.. I was also curious about what she would have done with her ex’s number if the ML hadn’t shown up.. She looked hesitant to delete it.. If you are going to throw in a scene like that, you should at least close it off with a clear answer.. Leaving it hanging like that just makes the girl look bad..

The ending was even more absurd.. I hope they are not planning a season 2, because that just won’t work.. Not because they don't have any story left to explore, but because with how disastrous the response has been I doubt anyone would greenlight another season.. So we are just left with, whatever that ending was..

I had hopes for Kim Yo Han after The Winning Try, but he really disappointed me with this script choice here.. He is obviously better than this.. Both of his upcoming dramas look promising, especially Starry Us.. I just hope it finally sees the light of day instead of getting pushed back indefinitely without any updates.. And Hwang Bo Reum Byeol?? She is yet to prove herself.. Maybe in the next project??

So unfortunately for me, the drama collapses under the weight of its own premise.. While a handful of the jokes work, the larger concept feels empty and sometimes even a little strange.. The drama tries to create a feel good illusion of ' freedom of choice ' where identity, desire and romance are treated like trendy accessories rather than genuine human experiences, decorative add ons with no real emotional weight..

Okay then, my verdict?? if you are watching it just for the vibes and don’t think too deeply about what’s happening, you might have some fun watching the comedy and a few cute moments between the main leads.. But that's it..

Oh, and if you are a programmer, please stay away from this.. You might need therapy to recover from the coding jargon alone..

Rare feel good Cdrama

Watching was my daily 2 episode happy place: assume best for those thirty and older. A second season is in order as there is a lot of gold to mine as they date and perhaps marry. There was good lead chemistry built on very slow burn and modest enemy to ... trope. I enjoyed all the supporting characters, the filming quality/locations, and the humor. Only change would be to NOT have Xia Xiao Man "like' ML. Since I have only been watching K/C/Taiwan dramas about a year this was my first Wallance Huo and less know but equally entertaining Zhu Zhu. I have to admit I'm still dismayed about C Drama dubbing as occasionally the actual actor/actress does their own voice but know it's rare. It would be nice if every drama had to list the VA's too.

Here lies Dear X: Born Brilliant, Died Confused.

I’m going to be honest right from the start: Dear X is a drama that made me fall in love, get betrayed, and then sit alone in the ruins wondering how something so brilliant could implode so fast. If I could freeze this drama at episode 5, I’d be singing songs of its greatness from rooftops. But since we have to consider the full package, here’s my eulogy for a drama that could’ve been legendary, but ultimately forgot its own identity.

Let me start with the praise, because the one thing I will always give this drama is Kim Yoo-jung’s performance. She was outrageous in the best way. Truly phenomenal. She didn’t just play Baek Ah-jin, she inhabited her like she was slipping in and out of different skins. The way she could shift from a wounded girl to a calculating strategist to someone who looked you dead in the eyes with nothing but ice behind them? That was masterclass level. She made emotional masking look like a finely tuned instrument. Even when the script was disintegrating in later episodes, KYJ kept delivering like she didn’t get the memo that the writing team had gone on vacation. If there’s anything I will remember fondly from this drama, it’s her work.

And honestly, those first five episodes were some of the best early-arc sociopathic drama writing I’ve seen in a long time. Tight. Sharp. Precise. The tone was controlled, the character motivations were clear, and Ah-jin’s world was built with this fascinating blend of trauma-driven instincts and strategic manipulation. I loved watching her. I loved studying her. She was a beautifully crafted paradox , someone who looked like a monster but was really just a broken girl surviving with the only tools she had left. If the drama had kept its momentum, if it had trusted the spine it built in those early hours, we could’ve easily been talking about one of the best psychological thrillers of the year.

But then came episode 6, where the show basically walked out of its own body and said, “What if we try being… a different genre?” And from that point on, it felt like the drama lost its confidence. Like it suddenly became terrified of its own brilliance and started backpedaling into blandness. Instead of escalating Ah-jin’s complexity, the show deflated her. Instead of sharpening the stakes, it softened everything into mush. Episodes 6 and 7 were such a nosedive that I almost couldn’t believe it. The drama suddenly didn’t know what story it wanted to tell, survival, revenge, fame, romance, comedy? It tried to juggle everything, dropped everything, and then acted like nothing happened.

Let’s talk about that fake romance arc. My god. It was already flimsy as an idea, but they dragged it out so long that I started aging in real-time. It wasn’t even fun, or spicy, or necessary. It just… sat there. A limp fish of a plotline that drained all the tension out of the show every time it appeared. And worse, it completely cheapened Ah-jin. This character who was introduced as a tactical, emotionally guarded mastermind suddenly… what? Decides seduction is her new superpower? I’m sorry, but that’s not character growth, that’s character confusion. I went from watching someone who played psychological chess to someone who suddenly decided her whole arc was going to be Jessica Rabbit cosplay. The whiplash was real.

Then there’s the marriage arc with the psycho chaebol. I don’t even know what to do with that storyline. It felt like the writers wanted shock value, remembered they forgot to escalate anything for five episodes, and tossed in a new plotline like a last-minute seasoning packet. It was rushed, messy, and honestly beneath the potential the show had. There were moments, tiny glimmers, where I thought, “Oh, maybe they’re getting their soul back.” But nope. It immediately collapsed into nonsense again. It was like watching someone try to revive a plant by watering the plastic pot next to it.

And the ending? Don’t get me started. Absolute garbage. A deus ex machina disguised as plot armor disguised as “meaning.” Suddenly Ah-jin is immortal. Untouchable. Invincible. The laws of narrative gravity don’t apply to her anymore. All tension evaporates because the drama refuses to let consequences land. This isn’t clever writing. This is the storytelling equivalent of shrugging and hoping the audience won’t notice the holes big enough to park a bus.

Then we have the symbolism. Visually beautiful, yes. Symbolically meaningful? Absolutely not. Symbolism only works if the story establishes a visual vocabulary early on and then builds on it consistently. Dear X didn’t do that. Instead, it slapped symbolic imagery onto unrelated scenes in the final stretch and expected us to clap like seals. I’m sorry, but no. That’s not profound. That’s the writers setting the script on fire and pretending the ashes spell poetry. The audience isn’t confused because we “don’t get it.” We’re confused because the drama never taught us the language it suddenly expected us to speak.

So here’s my verdict: Dear X is a tragedy, not in its plot, but in its wasted potential. The first half of this drama is a masterpiece waiting to happen. The second half is a slow-motion collapse that left me emotionally drained in the worst way possible. This is a eulogy for the brilliance we glimpsed but were never allowed to fully have. And while KYJ gave one of her best performances ever, everything around her simply fell apart. By the end, I wasn’t even angry. I was just sad, exhausted, and ready to move on.

If you ever watch Dear X, stop at episode 5. Pretend the rest is fanfiction. Your heart will thank you.

Chaotic, entertaining and funny to the core

Oh man, what a ride this is/was. Absolutely one of my favourite series along with Cherry Magic, Kieta Hatsukoi and Ossan’s Love.
The acting, as always, is top notch. I really love Mob’s character, and seeing him trying to avoid BL flags was so funny and entertaining. While each season was a repetition of the same plot — avoiding BL flags and not falling in love with a guy — each season introduced something new, a new character that made everything interesting despite the repetition.

Kikuchi’s sudden return to his ex-boyfriend was disappointing, as he looked dejected when he found out that he would never have a chance with Mob, but in the next scene he was back with Igarashi. As much as I love Kikuchi to the core, I really didn’t understand what the writers were doing. I mean, weren’t he and Mob supposed to be the endgame? While I love the Kikuchi and Mob pairing, since that was what was fed to us from the beginning, I couldn’t exactly hate the Hatano–Mob pairing. But obviously, I had the same problem with that pairing as everyone else: the age gap. Though the age gap isn’t that big, maybe 3 or 4 years, with Mob being 20 and Hatano being 17, the only problem was that he is a minor. If only he were at least 19, that would have worked so well. I really wish Hatano were 19 and Mob were somewhere in his early 20s, like 22 or 23.

But still, in episode 5, Hatano was celebrating his birthday, that basically means he is 18, i don't think 2 years gap is that big of a deal, specially since many countries view 18 as the start of adulthood. So Mob being 20 and Hatano 18 shouldn't be that big of a problem.

But if I take off the shade of morality (which I shouldn’t do), I actually love Hatano a lot. He is good-looking, has a good nature, seems pretty grounded and has a good storyline, his yearning eyes is what works for me so well. His acting is great, his character is nice, and even though to a lot of people he might seem pushy, he doesn’t to me. I think one of the reasons I’m unable to hate Hatano’s pairing is also because no matter what, I can’t see him as a high school kid since I know his real age. That’s pretty stupid on my part, but whatever.

All in all, a pretty good series. Just sad that this is going to be the last season. And I really can’t wait to see what will happen in the final episode.

***********
Finally the series ended and yeah it was disappointing.
Really wish they extented it atleast 5 more minutes.
I couldn't even tell if Mob was even happy or not.
I don't want any kiss or hug, but atleast his reaction to being proposed again by Hatano, so yeah disappointing.

But maybe they will have a sequel, as mayama hinted. Please let this be a real hint.
I never get bored watching Mob.
Let's have another season, hell, let's have 5,6,7 mob vs bl. I love it.

The best thing I can say: I'm happy it ended...

The biggest problem with this show it the main cast called "Win". He has the charisma of a wallpaper. He speaks more robotic then most and his facical expression was mostly not existent. Of course nobody told him, that his orangeblonde hair does not fit his type, but that's only my opinion. 🤣

As usual this series has a ridicilous story, but it can't reach Khemjira or Goddess Bless You from Death. It has nothing interesting in it. The ordinary BL stuff is there, yes, but it makes this series not interesting. Also the naked ghost with his rabbit mask was an eyesore, because when he took of his mask we know how handsome he really is. But at least he got an nonsense happy end.

The only interesting character of the show was Tong imho. He had emotional scenes and he was the best written. The rest of the script is trash, the direction was weak and overall this show is mostly boring af. The other characters did not make me feel anything, I couldn't have cared less. The finale did not resolve anything, because the writers had no clue what they wrote about. There is something positive: I don't hate it like others in this rating bracket. It's just bad, but it does not get my riled up of it's stupidity. So, if you have not watched yet, skip it, it's not worth your time.

I am my own worst enemy

Have you watched Khemjira?
Are you interested in a discounted version?
Well let me introduce you to My Secret of Seer - now with an extension pack including a karmic debt, love triangles, and a shirtless rabbit ghost!

I'm serious, this is like a badly made version of Khemjira and I don't know how else to explain it. If you've watched them both, it's very easy to make the connection, the only difference may be the fact that Por Khru himself needs protection and the one who can do it is Khem. Everything else is pretty much the same or very similar.

We've got the karmic debt that won't stop chasing Win, our seer, and it's definitely going to catch up to him before he completes 26. The solution? Seek someone out with great karmic energy (I think). He finds this person, Phleong, almost immediately but then this isn't really brought up again until episode 8.

Because the only thing consistent about this series were the dreams Win had where he was haunted by discount store Darth Vader. Otherwise we spend the episodes watching our seer and his friends trying to establish themselves as influencers, get invited to ghost podcasts or go ghost hunting in places haunted by ghosts who are irrelevant to the plot.

There are several plotlines that run parellel to Win's struggles to find out who is haunting him, including ones where his friend tries to harm him because his crush has a crush on Win, unnamed employees who get major screentime dealing with relationship problems that Win can somehow handle - I don't know a lot of it was nonsense.

There are several characters who are seemingly important to the plot pop in one episode and disappear the next, completely irrelevant in retrospect of course. It was all so weird and disjointed.

After all that, was the romance even good? It SUCKED. The leads had zero chemistry and zero personality. Phleong's only dialogue was "I don't believe in ghosts" and for being a good seer, Win's favourite dialogue sure was "I don't know". He didn't know anything.

And the final reveal was the worst of the lot. It made no sense and was such a terrible explanation to close out what was truly an awful series. The acting was bad, I didn't like any of the couples and I was bored out of my mind.

Do yourself a favour - if you're looking for a good, scary BL with shamans and past lives and the sort, just watch Khemjira.

not perfect but enjoyable

I started watching the show because of the "gumiho" concept. I just finished reading Tale of the Nine-Tailed and decided to carry on with the same idea. I liked the humour and had a great time. Some parts of the show were not very good, but I enjoyed it overall. I thought the scene with the 'miraculous chair' was a bit strange, but I enjoyed the rest of the drama and the ost.

The expectations were completely different. The trailers had a completely different atmosphere and plot, well, that's the impression I got. I was really looking forward to this drama because of its interesting and dynamic pictures, but in the end, the drama turned out to be very tedious and the narration was strange, the events were shown in some fragments, the plot stood in one place for a long time. Although it was interesting to watch the development of main leads relationship, but due to the fact that they had been dragging out the conflict for a long time, it was boring to watch.
Ofc you can give this kdrama a chance, but I definitely wouldn't review it.
