Historical done well

This is THE underdog drama of the year so far for me. I came into this with no expectations and was absolutely blown away by how GOOD this drama was. It wasn't just one or two characters that made this so good, but in fact the drama as a whole - the plot was so riveting and engaging that I literally never once felt an episode was boring or wasted. It made me care about characters I never expected to care for. I even started caring for the villains, because we were shown their motivations and past and could relate and empathize with their pain. The plot was so engaging for me that episodes could go by where the main leads would barely interact and I didn't even mind because I was so immersed with the rest of the story.

The whole cast honestly did such a great job with every one of their characters, and I love that there were little to no misunderstandings between the two leads and they were always on equal ground/footing. A lot of the characters are a bit unhinged and crazy (and you can already see it early on in the beginning episodes) so a lot of the times you're caught off guard with just how far they're willing to go, which honestly is one of the things I loved the most about this drama.

100% would recommend for people who love historical dramas or even those who are new to it.

Trying too hard to make people cry

After reading the description for this drama I had high hopes because it seemed interesting. Especially since I've enjoyed most of the cast in the past as well, but this was so disappointing. The writing just felt too contrived. Their focus was on making people cry and not writing a good story. I didn't even cry once. Like genuinely, it was so blatant that it took me out of the story. It's like they were asking: Are you crying yet? No? Well, here's more misery porn. Very disappointing.

cutest show ever

This was honestly so freaking adorable. The whole cast was amazing, and Mark and Ohm are everything to me (with a surprise appearance from Khaotung!!). I laughed. I cried. I watched it in a day. I’m obsessed.

This show is fun, silly, and heartwarming, and I don’t know how you couldn’t have a good time watching it. It may not be for everyone, but it made me happy, and I can’t wait to see more from Mark and Ohm.

Sure, there are things I could critique but I don’t even care because this show deserves more love!!

A drama that starts strong but slowly loses its emotional grip

A Hundred Memories begins with a lot of emotional depth and quiet beauty. From the first few episodes, I was immediately drawn in by the melancholic atmosphere, the thoughtful pacing, and the gentle way the story unfolded. One of the strongest elements of this drama, in my opinion, is the deep and genuine friendship between the three main characters — Shin Ye Eun, Kim Dami, and Jae Pil.
Before romance even comes into play, the drama takes its time developing a truly heartfelt bond between the trio. Their friendship feels natural and sincere, full of subtle moments of understanding, shared pain, and unspoken connection. It’s refreshing to watch a story that allows friendship to be at the center without rushing into love too quickly. There’s a sense of comfort and support in their dynamic that gives real emotional weight to the first half of the show.
The bus incident that ties them all together acts as a powerful emotional core. It brings tension and depth to the story, and each character deals with it in their own way. This trauma, and the way it shapes their relationship, is portrayed with care and sensitivity. It’s really what keeps the viewer emotionally invested early on.
However, things begin to shift — not necessarily for the better — after the time skip. The writing starts to become more predictable, the pacing loses its subtlety, and the story seems to lean into more conventional romantic drama tropes. The slow, emotionally layered storytelling that made the beginning so good starts to fade, replaced by more obvious developments and less engaging conflicts.
The romance that eventually takes over, particularly between Yeong Rye and Jae Pil, feels inevitable from early on, but not especially moving. It lacks the emotional nuance of the friendships we saw before. What once felt unique becomes more standard, and that’s where the drama begins to lose its spark.
As expected, the show ends on a happy note — which fits the genre — but I couldn’t help but feel that the final episodes didn’t quite live up to the promise of the first half. It’s a satisfying ending, but not a memorable one.
In the end, A Hundred Memories is worth watching for its early emotional strength and beautifully portrayed friendship. It’s not a groundbreaking drama, and it definitely stumbles along the way, but it offers a warm, if slightly bittersweet, viewing experience.

The plot is great but constant timeline jumping is confusing

The overall plot is great BUT the drama keeps jumping back and forth the timeline (e.g 2013, 2023, and 2013 again) make it hard for me to keep track. I was waiting for the climax but it took forever to reach it. I was at one point that really wanted to drop the drama, but decided to watch the rest. Until nearly episode 25+ that made me excited to watch.

I love the actor (especially Huang Jintiao, played by Jeremy Chan). It's difficult to act as a stuttering person so naturally. Also, his emotions and expressions are on point (anger, sadness, etc).

I would love to watch this drama again but the timeline jumping confusing me so probably not watching it again.

Art about the human condition and found families >>>

This drama is simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming, loved both the main and (most of) the side characters (they’re all three-dimensional and complex) and the acting of everyone. The ML is on another level.

What I love the most is the portrayal and the different storylines about all of the complicated relationships and how they evolved and were wrapped up.

Most intense Cdrama I have ever seen.

First I want to say i started this Cdrama on Friday 10/17/25. I discovered it on here. I never seen something so beautiful, heart wrenching, or words that I can not describe. I cried a lot but maybe that is just me. The story was beautiful, brilliant. The cast the whole cast just amazing. The chemistry between the 2 main actors WOW now thats a chinese drama. Filled with passion. not some lip to lip but like sealing lips, movement with their mouths. I never seen a cdrama like that before. And i think thats what I want in a Cdrama? I want to feel what they are feeling, what they are going through, what you feel for these 2 characters but the whole drama within itself. I'd rewatch it again in a heartbeat. It was very emotional. Like i am still teary eyed trying to hold back. Thats what a drama should be or do for you that feeling that is indescribable. To leave you wondering, To maybe have your heart race. To feel just raw emotions in reality. So beautiful.. so out of this world beautiful. Oh by the way i finished today. I would go to bed at 230 am in the morning thats how Brilliant and beautiful it is. Oh and the music that they play during scenes made it more intense.. Like how the music flowed to what they were saying or thinking or that moment was so beauiful. Soundtrack, cinematography, everything just beautiful.

A fantasy show that doesn't take itself too seriously while making you hungry, angry and laugh.

Bon appétit, Your Majesty was, for me, one of those limited series that made me disappointed at episode 10. Not because of its content; it was because, sadly, there were only 2 shows remaining.
Yes, it reminds you a little of "Mr. Queen," but if you are a "Mr. Queen" fan, then that is a good thing! Many who have watched more than 5 K-dramas should know that "Mr. Queen" is by far not the first Joseon time travel series and surely, its not the last. So let's move on and just enjoy.

I enjoyed the production. It really seemed as if the writer(s), director, and cast had a blast making this. Strong emphasis was placed on food and cooking. It was as if food itself was a very important part of the cast. I found all of those scenes interesting, inviting, and sometimes funny with the addition of special effects. I give many props not only to Lim Yoon A's performance (as I did in King the Land) but also to Lee Chae Min's portrayal as King Yi Heon. Honorable mention should go to Yeon Seo Ah as Ji Yeon's sidekick Seo Geum. I thought she provided a nice balance of comic relief and glue as her adorable bestie (for lack of a better word).

The seriousness blended with spots of humor was enjoyable. The villains were convincing. Credit to the writing and pacing for the execution of all of these elements. If you enjoy fantasy themes with great acting and elements of humor and tense moments, you will enjoy "Bon Appetit, Your Majesty."

Inconsistent Narrative, Sloppy Writing

I was excited at first knowing it's from the same writer as Crash Course in Romance, which i loved. imagine my shock and disbelief when the story kept going south. after the time skip, the character behaviours, present, their motivations heck even the characters themselves hardly made any sense.

I loved the first ep so was hopeful for a good show, plus was excited to watch Kim Junghyun on screen. well, atleast one of them was worth spending my time on this show. Daddy Long Legs you were a great character! wish we had a bit more of him after the time skip too!

Although I was at unconvinced this was from the same writer as CCIR, the final episodes and the devolvement into murders and revenges and almost thriller confirmed it for me lol. CCIR had that exact same issue, but atleast there it was set up a bit better and the main characters were more likeable.

For AHM, it was supposed to a story of friendship (?) or was that wrong promotion. shoulda promoted it more as a romcom with a side of female friendship and love triangle, though the friendship narrative was nowhere to be seen after the time skip. The writer probably set out to achieve some complex character study, but unfortunately she isn't too skilled at her craft for that, yet.

This one, felt more like a wish fulfilment where the writer wanted to put the main female lead in the shoes of a typical kdrama second lead -- but who actually gets the love interest this time. It wasn't convincing, but atleast Youngrye and Jaepil were really cute by the end of it and it's visible the actors gave it their best.

As for the female friendship tho, the writer achieved just the opposite what she should have (or maybe this is exactly what the writer wanted idk). Instead of showing a friendship, though rocked by tumultuous waves, stays solid -- which should have had the audience rooting for it -- instead had the audience divided into two, fans biased, forced to pick one among the two. Ultimately, pitting women against eachother. Both onscreen and off.

The friendship aspect was just a promotional tool for the writer. when YR was at the hospital, not a single scene with JH. Even the person who called her back to life was her ultimate love Jaepil. reconciliation and every other narrative between the two so called best friends happens off screen! 🤷‍♀️

Show not tell was a concept long forgotten.

An ending so satisfying it left me in tears

This drama aired without the fanfare of idol dramas and it ended just as quietly. I would have never found out about it if I wasn’t on the lookout for Luo Jin dramas I want to actually watch.

Luo Jin as the male lead was excellent. He managed to pull off a dual role with incredible depth and contrast. His portrayal of Su Mu Fan’s savagery and Su Mu Xin’s gentleness was a delight to see. He really brought to life and convincingly portrayed two completely different characters.

Wang Zi Wen as Qu Tong was great as well. She captured the essence of a woman who thought she had lost everything and felt she had nothing left to hold onto. Her portrayal was so raw that you could feel her grief and the pain of what her life had become was almost tangible. As Dustyhymn said, “She is dead inside”. Both Mu Xin and Qu Tong had been dealt an unfair hand by life. Their destinies were not as much chosen by them but by the decisions of those around them.

But while Luo Jin and Wang Zi Wen shined in their roles, the supporting cast cannot go unmentioned. In Beloved, we had three mothers who made decisions which affected their children for life. One was too involved and permissive, another was involved and too strict, and then there is the boys’ mother who we didn’t see much of but whose decisions deeply impacted both boys from early childhood and left scars so deep that even a life swap and adulthood couldn’t undo. So to say that this drama is a portrayal of how resentment, pain, grief, and abuse has lasting effects on the human mind is not completely off base.

The pacing of the drama was good, the acting was excellent, and the music was just okay. However, I am willing to overlook that because the drama gave me so many great moments, threw a few unexpected twists my way, and the ending was so satisfying that it left me in tears.

Despite low ratings on MDL, Loved it! Go with an open mind!

I thoroughly enjoyed this drama. The first 6-7 episodes went like a breeze. The friendship dynamic was really great to watch. Loved almost all the side characters. Enjoyed the ending. Everyone more or less got a happy ending in my book. I was scared it might go the "you and everything else" route but thankfully it didn't. Would have loved to see more of the reconciliation and return of the friendship maybe another episode rather than a 5 minute epilogue. But overall had a good time with this drama maybe since I binged it at one go without waiting every week. I would suggest to go with an open mind with this drama without carrying about the ratings and judge for yourself!

Love (and hurt) Memories

"Hundred Memories" is a drama that requires attention to detail , it’s about understanding that it breaks away from clichés. You rejoice in the friendship, cry and feel anger over misunderstandings, sense the tension of danger, but also witness the unity that endures through it all! It has emotional themes such as family, friendship, forgiveness, and many others. From the very first episodes, we notice YR’s sweetness and strength. We feel her pain as she gives up her own desires for the sake of others something visible both in her family and friendships, but it wouldn’t always stay that way. She learns to express her feelings and keep chasing her dreams.

JH isn’t left behind when it comes to this strong friendship. She encouraged YR, took care of her siblings while YR’s mother was hospitalized, protected YR from her ex-boss, and faced many hardships, first with her brother, then by being adopted by an obsessive and controlling mother. She isn’t a bad person; she made mistakes, whether due to circumstances or her own emotions, but she had the chance to make amends to accept that love can’t be forced, to free herself from her mother’s control, and to return to being the cheerful, playful JH she once was.

At first, I was quite upset that JP ended up being “the one” LOL. I was really rooting for Jeong Hyeon! But considering that YR’s pure and genuine love had always been for Jae-Pil, it became acceptable and actually really sweet! It was a love born from hardship and friendship, between two families and between the two of them. ~Though I did get pretty frustrated with the boy haha.

The other characters were also essential to the story they brought humor, connection, and even more meaning to the concept of “family.” In the end, I was really afraid they would be separated; I missed a deeper reconciliation between them, but even so, I loved that they stayed together and that they would continue that way. <3

Chosen Family (need a season 2)

Overall: "Our efforts were not wasted, right?" "Yes, it was worth it". The writing in this series is impeccable. Themes and characters I thought were random were later seamlessly integrated. Shifts between comedy and seriousness were impeccably executed. 10 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on Netflix https://www.netflix.com/title/82153387

Content Warnings: slap, internal and external homophobia, sexism discussed

What I Liked
- addressed marriage equality in a realistic way
- that I didn't know what the next episode will have in store
- discussion of sexism (one of the few romance series I have seen that passed the Bechdel test multiple times)
- how characters had their quirks, but still feel like people I could meet in the real world
- intentional characters, they might have seemed insignificant, but they came back later
- no cartoonish antagonists
- avoided evil ex cliche

Room For Improvement
- I couldn't really sympathize with the mom
- at times the pacing was a bit slow for me

incredible drama! but male lead has resting :| face

This is my first time writing a review for a series. The story was definitely my favorite part of this one. The female lead's character was really well written, and the twists and turns of the story made sense without being too predictable. I kinda skimmed through the epilogue but that's only because of my personal preference. The story really hooked me and the production backed it up. The acting was good overall. (with one exception. see next paragraph.)

My biggest complaint is that the male lead needs to move his face a little more. I don't think his acting is necessarily terrible. (He doesn't strike me as especially good either, though.) But his face... It genuinely broke my immersion at points when his character would be going through it or acheiving his dreams and i was just begging him to move his facial muscles just a tiny bit. I started celebrating every tiny half-smile and started hoping bad things would happen to him so I could finally watch this man cry. Well, bad things certainly happened to him, and yet his face was as stoic as ever. The couple times he ever cried looked like the same exact face as when he was happy but with a drop of water carefully applied to his face by a PA. I know this is kind of the trend with a lot of dramas, but I just don't remember it being this bad. I mean just compare him to the second male lead and you'll see the difference. Honestly compare him to any other actor or actress in the show. Even compare him with the child actor playing the younger version of himself.

All that being said I still think it deserves an 8/10
