Met my expectations
Tbh being a spin off of hidden love which is extraordinaryly good drama, already put a pressure on this drama to be at the same level as HL. So I had in my mind that it might not be as good as HL and should be watched as an individual seperate drama with just few conn6with HL and this made the drama more worthy and satisfying to watch. Some people might think that there were illogical things and things don't make sense, there is pacing problem or the FL is too weak. But if you watch it till end almost everything makes sense and why FL felt what she felt and why she became weak. Its true that there is pacing problem but once its on track, every episode is very anticipating to watch and the pacing problem is solved. For those who thing that FL is shown too weak, i haven't read the novel so idk, but i only saw the drama and as per drama it made sense of how she kept on losing hope and those sufferings made her like that.
I am really satisfied with this drama. And loved how the second lead couple were also so good. Writers gave enough screentime to them and a good short story too. Also i like how they settled every properly in the end without rushing the ending, like the uncle issue, mother issue, basically everything that came between them.
In the end it was worth watching drama👍

The Best
The First Frost is a touching and well-balanced romance with humor and depth. Bai Jingting’s portrayal of Sang Yan stands out, bringing both charm and sincerity to his role as Sang Yan. His interactions with Zhang Ruonan feel genuine, and their dynamic keeps the story engaging. The pacing is smooth, with emotional moments placed naturally between lighthearted scenes. The cinematography creates a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. What sets this drama apart is its character growth. Sang Yan isn’t just there to be a love interest—he has his own struggles and moments of self-reflection and his POV was so fun. It made the drama more convincing and relatable. The supporting cast adds personality without overshadowing the leads. With its strong performances and thoughtful storytelling, The First Frost is a drama worth watching. Watch it now!

Incredible adaptation great casting
This is incredible adaptation of the population Novel. Everything is well thought off. Cast, direction, screenplay, writting, editing cinematography all are perfect. It's presented such intense story in endearing manner. How story incorporated angst, workplace abuse, toxic parenting, domestic violence in every subtle ways without drama. Attending social issues with healing and romance. Perfect blend. This is not your regular cuddles, xoxo romantic seriesWas this review helpful to you?
The narrative employs a non-linear storytelling technique, seamlessly transitioning between the characters' high school years and their adult lives. This approach enriches the plot, allowing viewers to grasp the depth of their shared history and the evolution of their relationship. The series is lauded for its melancholic visuals and deliberate pacing, which accentuate the emotional gravity of the story. As noted by Indiatimes, "The masterful storytelling and melancholic visuals add to the intentional slow pacing of the drama."
Bai Jingting's portrayal of Sang Yan is marked by a quiet intensity, effectively conveying the character's internal struggles and lingering affection for Wen Yifan. Zhang Ruonan delivers a compelling performance as Wen Yifan, capturing the nuances of a woman grappling with past wounds while confronting unresolved feelings. Their on-screen chemistry brings authenticity to the portrayal of a love that is both tender and tumultuous.

Perfect, ultimate comfort drama
This is a must watch if you like healing drama. The fl and ml did an exceptional job. I love it when the ml is a yeaner, he didn't waver from loving wen yifan. He waited for her( for 8 years) , he fought for her. What a beautiful story. If you like something emotional then this is for you. We'll done to the writer of this story it's beautiful and relatable. People mentioning how the don't like fl for leaving ml for the second time, the reason was valid, she was in danger and the only way to protect herself from a grapist was to leave.

Perfect cast | music | plot
I came across the TTCBZ manhua first, then moved on to the novel when the manhua was still incomplete. After finishing the novel, I discovered that the author had written a separate story for SY, which led me to start reading NH. I completely fell in love with it, more deeply than with TTCBZ. From there, I followed the manhua adaptation as it began, and when HL drama was announced, I couldn’t help but hope that NH would get its own drama adaptation as well. When the casting for SY was first revealed to be VM, I was honestly a bit skeptical. (I’ve actually been a VM fan since before HL aired.) At first, I couldn’t picture him in NH at all and felt somewhat disappointed, even though in the drama, he perfectly embodied SZ’s annoying older brother. I still couldn’t imagine VM as NH’s SY. Until BJT was confirmed as FF's SY. I was genuinely thankful then.
Both the main leads perfectly captured SY and WYF. I honestly don’t care what others say, BJT is perfect for this role and always will be. And HL’s SY belongs to VM. I simply can’t imagine BJT as the loud, annoying older brother. But in FF, SY feels tailor made for BJT, he is SY.
As for the supporting characters, ZSQ didn’t have much presence in the novel, but I liked her because she always supported WYF. In this adaptation, though, she comes off a bit annoying, even if her intentions are good. The romance between the two supporting leads didn’t exist in the novel, so I’m honestly conflicted about it. The drama focuses on their relationship a little too much, and I don’t think it really helps the main plot.
That said, ZRN’s performance truly stood out to me. This is my first time watching both her and BJT, and her crying scenes felt incredibly natural. Her portrayal of WYF went far beyond how I had imagined the character, I cried so much. BJT also did an amazing job. He absolutely owns the color black! Seriously, how can someone look that handsome? Total boyfriend material. The way he portrayed SY was phenomenal, his calmness, his longing for WYF to turn back and look at him, and his endless patience were all portrayed so beautifully. He understands what WYF is afraid of and is willing to wait for her to open up at her own pace, and I loved that. Their chemistry is incredible.
This is my favorite novel, and I have to say, the drama is even better (minus the second leads popping up every other minute). A solid 10/10.

Terrible
Blinded by the MDL ratings I started watching this series. The female lead is beautiful and can really act, the camera work is very good and all views are very carefully chosen and beautiful, the music is excellent. Everything else is aboelutelly terrible: a male lead looking and behaving like a mid-schooler, fully absence of writing, zero perspecive in direction. The feeling is of a long MV, very long 32 times 45 minutes?! Please give me the invested time back!
Anyway, it's my fault to le tme guided by random ratings and fan reviews...

ONE OF THE BEST 2025 C-DRAMAS!
Mark my words. This drama is a masterpiece, everything is portrayed very beautifully, to anyone who’s starting now, GO WATCH IT and do not WASTE TIME. From the production to the actors, 10/10. Also the OST!!!! Oh my god. Thank god episodes are coming out every day because I couldn’t bear the thought of waiting that much.Last thing, prepare your tissues, because you will cry a lot.

Second episode
The moment she tells him he might get tetanus just for little bruises made me laugh. You get tetanus through animal farm manure. No roses, no rusty nail, not because someone punched you in the face.
Other than that, it's a nice story.
I wish her friend didn't have that voice. So annoying.
I don't fancy the male actor though.
