the story is so good that it grabs you in the first chapter
i waited day after day for the episodes to arrive. it had been a long time since a "school" drama had gripped me so strongly to the point of leaving me hooked like this. the fact that the story was different from what we're used to seeing was one of the strong points that made the drama so popular, and of course, the plot was good until the tenth episode. seong-ah disappearing for three years would never make sense, at least not for the seong-ah we got to know over the course of ten episodes. they could have used bong-su much more too. many talked about the general's death, but honestly, it makes total sense that she gave her life for her daughter, and for me, it was one of the highlights of the drama. the last two episodes don't deserve more than three stars, but I can't ignore the incredible first ten chapters. my rating for this drama is eight stars. Was this review helpful to you?

Eventful dark fluff
This drama really has a little bit of everything, friendship, magic, evil, suspense, hidden identities, double identities, depression, sports, romance and bromance... and a cute ghost dogWith a cute bubbly female lead with a hint of bad ass and slight lack of intelligence. A cold to obsessed male lead and a second male lead that is just so cute I got some type of combination SLS and hoping for them to either skip the romance or build a thruople/forple with the ghost where they live happily ever after in a house full of ghosts or letting the secound male lead end up with any one of them as he truly was the brights character in this show. The first half of the drama was a 9 the second a 7 making this a solid 8.
Not a must watch but a decent entertainment, Id say purely entertainment way to pas your time that is sure to grab your attention and keep it occupied.

A Magical Tale of Fate, Love, and Identity
Head Over Heels is a heartwarming and refreshingly unique Korean drama that weaves fantasy, romance, and personal growth into one unforgettable story. It follows a spirited young girl who lives a double life: by day, she tries to be a normal high school student; by fate, she’s also a gifted shaman. Her world turns upside down when she meets a boy cursed with a powerful bad omen. From their very first encounter, sparks fly—not just romantically, but spiritually. What begins as a mission to save him slowly transforms into a heartfelt journey of understanding, healing, and love. The chemistry between the leads is tender and believable, developing in ways that feel natural and emotionally satisfying.
What truly makes Head Over Heels stand out is the emotional depth beneath its supernatural premise. It explores themes of identity, duty, loneliness, and acceptance. The female lead’s struggle to balance her spiritual responsibilities with her desire for a normal life is portrayed with honesty and warmth. The male lead, dealing with isolation due to his “curse,” finds new purpose in her presence.
Visually, the drama is stunning. The use of traditional Korean shamanistic elements blended with modern teenage life creates a fresh and captivating aesthetic. The writing is thoughtful, and the humor is well-placed, offering moments of lightness without undercutting the emotional beats.
If you’re looking for a drama that’s more than just romance—something magical, soulful, and filled with heart—don’t hesitate. Head Over Heels is a hidden gem that beautifully balances fantasy and reality, reminding us that sometimes, love itself is the most powerful form of healing.

Promising but disapointing
I haven't finished it yet, but not excited to do so.I saw a lot of people talking about this show and was expecting great things, let's say I'm disapointed.
Story :
Was promising but really disapointing. The characters aren't interesting, the love plot isn't interesting, and the story around the shamans is disapointing as a lot of situations could have been avoided. And from what I've read the last two episodes may be even more deceiving. I don't mind a sad ending, but I hope they don't make it a stupid sad ending.
Characters :
Seong A : Basic female lead in kdrama. I've seen edits where they make her look like a badass female lead : don't fall into it, it's a trap. While she sometimes shows that you can't step on her, she still is a crybaby, and they made her act cute A LOT. It's kinda cringe to see how she acts. But like I said, basic kdrama female lead, especially in a highschool setting. Talking about her shaman experience, while she shows more of her aptitude as the shows goes on, it's nothing crazy. Her backstory is interesting, but they don't show a lot of it, I think they will talk about it more in the last episodes but not sure about it.
Gyeon U : Apart from being cursed by misfortune and having a pretty face, it's an empty character. Nothing interesting about him. He's here, but that's it. I feel like they even rushed his story ? Like growing into misfortune and being rejected from his family because of it make his whole character but they neglicted his back story. Also the death of his grandma ? Apart from one (or two -I don't remember- episodes) where he's followed by a su*cide ghost they don't talk much about it ? Like the person who loved him and raised him died, give us some heartbreaking scenes. I like the evil spirit who possessed him more, because he actually have something crazy : a personality.
Ji Ho : Like Gyeon U, he's here but nothing partiular about him. Also cringe to see how he acts once he realise he loves Seong A : he's third wheeling to hard and somehow he not only accept it but also create situation where he's third wheeling ?
Yeom Hwa : pure evil, but somehow accepted by everyone ? Like they literaly let the wolf into the fold. They tried to create a villain origin story, but nothing groundbreaking.
Love Story :
Two not so interesting characters falling in love. Seong A fell for a pretty face, and Gyeon U fell for her sympathy ? They love kinda started from nowhere and doesn't make an interesting relationship.
And the love triangle is so forced and annoying. Also sorry but the scene where Seong A goes to Gyeon U and Ji Ho competition and only encourages Gyeon U ?? Like girl be nice to the only friend you had pleaaaase.

The new take on Shamanism is fresh and furious
The journey of Fairy Cheon Ji has reached its culmination after a roller coaster ride.A month back, we met a shaman who was busy saving people from spirits and managing her school. Her spirit mother gave her a normal life during the day which her biological parents snatched from her. She befriended Ji Ho and found her first love in Gyeon U. The mushy and quirky take of ghosts and life enroute through psychological issues.
There are 3 reasons that you should try this drama.
Not the cliche ghost drama
It is not a cliche ghost drama. Here the shaman has reached this level at a young age. This is because she has always been a shaman in her entire life. She hates it often, but does not want to deny it.
Romance has softly taken the back seat
They are in school. This is the time when people develop crushes, fall in and out of love. They find their dreams and very often change what they really want to be in their life. The director kept that rawness alive till the last scene.
A cute bromance and a soft love triangle
Though Ji Ho and Gyeon U, both are in love with one girl, that did not stop them from becoming friends with each other. They always had each other’s back despite their heart beating for Fairy Cheon Ji.
Jo Yi Hyun has done a terrific job in portraying the role of a young shaman. After her stellar performance in All of us are Dead, the girl has been deeply missed. Chu Young Woo is the new blue eyed boy of the town. This tall brooding man has been winning hearts with different meaty roles that are establishing him as a strong actor of the next league. Cha Kang Yun has deeply amazed the audience with his strong support. The chemistry between the trio is more fiery and layered. It brought the story alive successfully.
It is our mind that always makes things wrong. And the journey proved it repeatedly.

Generational trauma is a b*tch to get rid of, I tell you!
Yeah, okay this wasn't as bad as everyone made it sound! It was actually fun! So there was a lot to love about this show. The depiction and use of shamanism in this plot makes it very fresh and engaging. It's contemporary fantasy but make it VERY Korean and I don't know, it was a breath of fresh air. And the show stays very consistent with its involvement. Now, I'm not familiar with the religion or shamanism at all so I don't know how true the practices were to the actual thing but at least the story stayed consistent with its rules. You had the deity-patronized shamans and you had the deity-less shamans and you had your vengeful ghosts, evil spirits, the faceless ghosts, and the lost souls...it was such a consistent and engaging canon. Then there is the character arcs and the plot.So the story follows Seong A who is a teen shaman who wishes she was just like other teens and then you have Gyeon U who is a teenage dreamboat cursed with misfortune. When Gyeon U walks into Seong A's temple upside down, she knows he is bound to die in 21 days. But he's so handsome so she instantly falls in love with him and vows to save him no matter what. Then he also walks into her ordinary life as the new boy at school and it's like a blessing and a curse all at once as she tries to hide her shaman status from the gloomy Gyeon U while maneuvering her crush and her fate-defying heroics to save him. But little does she know, there are dark forces at work behind the scenes that are trying to thwart her plans.
So the story has two main characters with their own arcs, right? Well, it also has 3 supporting characters who are also going through their own stuff and by the end, all characters reach the end of their arcs having overcome their problems from the start. In addition to all this, there is a great love story (even though it's based on appearances at first, the show makes a not-at-all subtle point of proving that appearances are not enough to love a person without a nice personality to boot. I love that!) that defies convention as our guy is the damsel in serious distress, great friendships that build through the show with humor and compassion, a whole comedy side show, and a freaking sport plot too! And I kid you not...the show pulls it all off. I know, I know! Some reading this are getting angry because I'm ignoring the blinged elephant in the room....I'll get there! Wait!
The thing is, the show takes some odd detours to reach its conclusion but if you actually try to follow each thread to its bitter end, you'll see that by the end of the show, everything is in its right place. Now as for the elephant...the issue with the plot is that, it seems like a while episode is missing between episode 10 and 11 which makes the start of episode 11 very jarring and completely messes up the pace the show had lain thus far. It's a hiccup and that's why this is not a 10-star show because it skips over two very important questions in-between those two episodes but I think it bounces back by sticking to its guns and standing by the rules of the story for the rest of the remaining episodes and two, the fact that even before then, the show keeps some serious mysterious vibe going by not over-explaining characters and their backgrounds. So omitting vital information is already on-brand for the show and if you pick yourself up and get over the sudden jump between those episodes, the rest makes sense again. But they definitely cut an episode out in the middle there. I wonder if they thought a show about shamans having 13 episodes was just too ominous! lol
But really, despite all that, this is a solid show with A+ humor and immaculate dialogue that really steals the words out of your head, at some points. The show also does something really amazing with the second male lead which makes the show that much more fun to watch and leaves us with a very memorable character to boot. That is of course if we ignore the other...SML...but I don't know if that menace counts as one...can someone be their own love rival?! ANYWAY! That brings me right down to...the acting!
So the acting...boy! Choo Young Woo is seriously one of the best young actors coming out of Kdramaland lately. Possibly the best one, actually. This is my second show with him and in both, he has shown such astounding skills that I genuinely think he has an MO now of picking really difficult roles that no one else can really pull off other than him. Like I really don't know which other actor could have pulled something like this off so well...maybe that guy from Weak Hero Class? He could do this too, probably. Anyway, he did so well here and I got chills because he is so detailed with his choices that it's impossible not to be impressed. Cho Yi Hyun is very cute and she pulled off her character really well as well, even though the cute acting isn't my personal favorite but I think she did well objectively, regardless of personal taste. The ensemble were great too. Some of the older actors are tried and well-known actors but the younger cast didn't let themselves be upstaged either.
I think the production was great too. Set design was gorgeous and beautiful (Seong A's bedroom was legit gorgeous! The most beautiful bedroom of dramaland. And Gyeon U's whole house was so cottagecore goals), the white washing in the show wasn't super severe either so the actors looks natural...good thing too! Otherwise how were we to tell the humans and the ghosts apart?! The music was awful...like ew! But thankfully, the show didn't do the slow-mo music video montages so I could easily skip those awful songs...
Now the negatives: The second half of the show has this fundamental hiccup as it depends on the assumption that viewers will have enough emotional investment in the evil spirit to watch and stay with the plot...and I don't know other but omg I could not give less of a F---...I could not care less about that lil menace. And because I didn't like the character, watching a lot of the events of the last three episodes was painful...but I wouldn't accuse the show of lobotomizing itself or to have fundamentally changed its tone. It's more that the show stays true to itself but it's just that the bitter path they're on isn't particularly likable. The show does make a solid point of saying how the scars of war are still deep in the consciousness of the Korean public and how the trauma is inescapable and will still hurt the people. And that the only way to move forward is to remember those who were lost to the unfair violence. That's a beautiful and melancholic message and if you stand by the show, you get to feel that at the very end. Sure, the show skipped one or two fundamental steps there but at least the end was a proper pay off. At least in my opinion.
Overall: Is it worth a watch? YES! Absolutely! This is one of the most fun shows I have come across this year. 2025 has been an amazing drama year, actually and this show definitely falls into the good side of that. I suggest you watch this if you like high school dramas, contemporary fantasy, star-crossed romances, or just a show with a good balance of angst and fluff. It's a great show to binge for sure.
P.S: I would like to congratulate Korea for finally figuring out a show that has 12 episodes but has fans begging for more! This has literally never happened before. Like the 16-episodes-curse is so real and alive and yet! Here we are! *standing ovation* truly another amazing showing by SK drama writers! How do they always manage to miscalculate the plot to episode ratio is truly amazing!
P.P.S: This show was plenty angsty, right? Like Gyeon U would have been a whole edge-lord if he wasn't so wholesome and sweet all the time but then Yeomhwa was like 5 degrees more angsty than the rest of this whole production! lol! Like, she was WAY too dramatic at some points! I was like, girlie needs to unwind a bit! lol

Uninteresting and messy
With 12 episodes, Head Over Heels feels exhausting due to it's over-the-top execution and a story that feels all over the place. While the drama started well with it's initial episodes, the story kept on getting complex and stretchy. The positive aspects were the background score and good cinematography, however was let down by messy ending.
Tropes have always been a staple in K dramas but the magic had always worked before because they knew how to make things feel fresh but now?
We're past the middle of the year and once again I regret investing time in a rince and repeat story. It's yet another K-drama slop that puts lots of familiar ingredients in, but fails to put some soul into their main characters.
Overall, Head Over Heels is an over-the-top drama with weak characters and unpolished writing. There are many better dramas in my opinion to watch instead.
My Rating : 4.5/10

A Mess
What is in the water with Kdramas lately? I can’t remember the last time I actually watched a Kdrama and thought that it started and ended well. The concept of this show is a lot cuter than the actual show. My first issue was putting Choo Young Woo into a high school uniform and trying to sell us the idea that he’s a teenager. I kept looking at him like he was a student that got held back in school and couldn’t graduate and was now still in high school at the age of 25 or however old he actually is in real life.Cho Yi Hyun on the other hand has such a baby face that I could buy her as a teenager. However now it looked like she was 16 and he was an adult and then my eyes crossed and my moral compass had to be restored by the knowledge that they’re both adults in real life and all will be well.
So back into the drama I went, but what a colossal mess it was. Sure the antics of her hiding her shaman ways while trying to keep him alive were silly and at times heartwarming, I could not fathom why the drama then decided to take a sharp turn and plunge into demonic possession and a pseudo love triangle.
Was I the only one who wondered how for all the dark arts that Yeom Hwa oracticed, she ended up with the most ridiculous evil spirit ever who was unfortunately named Bong Su? It was such a joke! I didn’t find him scary, I didn’t find him entertaining and I certainly didn’t find him endearing.
It was absolutely heartbreaking when he took over Gyeon U’s body and acted like he had every right to. Worse yet, fans of the drama becoming conflicted between Gyeon U and Bong Su like he actually deserved compassion and maybe should take over Gyeon U’s body?
Halfway through the drama it fell off a cliff (very common with Kdramas these days) and entered warped territory. Seong A in all her wisdom decides to let Bong Su possess her instead and this loser of an evil spirit is basically whining because he likes Seong A but doesn’t know how to cross over so in the meantime he’s taking full advantage of being in her body and dressing her up in clothes she would never wear and making fun of Gyeon U who has been looking for Seong A for the last 3 years. She was completely violated, but let’s pity poor Bong Su who cries because he’s taking away moments that belong to Seong A and let’s also make Seong A cool with the fact that Bong Su has done who knows what to her while in possession of her body. If you’re going to hand us this storyline, do it responsibly.
The happy ending was cold for me because I had lost all interest by that point and really was completely checked out from the show.
Like I said, it sounded way cuter than it actually was.

Story went downfall
i was loving the storyline of how FL tries to save ML, give the lovey dovey creating the highschool first love romance, and the chemistry they were building. but, why why why did the writer wrote the story this way when it suddenly became comedic after he got possessed.i felt that the stories was starting to go downfall from there and there's so many loopholes in the story - when they simply allow Yeom Hwa to perform all sort of evil spell right under their eyes, and how Ji Ho just handed over the ring that way without consulting FL or ML.
I was hoping to find out what was the history to Yeom Hwa for becoming this way, which was never uncovered at all except the fact she lost her baby. But what made her hate her mother that much, and how did she get to know Gyeon U and why she just hated human so much.
I was skipping so much of the episodes midway hoping that it will get better again, but sad to say - no it did not.

✅️ enchantingly sweet 1st love

1st of all, koreans do horror very well and this is no exception. The cgis were good.
The screenwriter is the hero, how they manage to craft a story that is equal parts sad and moving and beautiful and peppered with hilariously funny bits.
Choo and Cho exceled in their roles and together they have a formidable chemistry. Its the dark horse this spring-summer and my fav kdrama of this year.
