When the Spirit You’re Fighting Falls in Love with You
This drama totally caught me off guard—in the best way possible. At first, it presents itself as a lighthearted, even slightly sugary story. The first three episodes might seem a little too cutesy for those looking for something with more bite. But if you give it a chance and stick around, you'll quickly realize there’s much more beneath the surface. The story centers on Gyeong-wu, a quiet, unfortunate guy who seems to have life’s worst luck permanently stuck to his back, and Seong-ah, our bold, spirited heroine who lives a double life: an ordinary student by day, and a shaman by night. They're polar opposites—she’s bright and outgoing, while he’s introverted and solemn—which sets up the perfect dynamic.
But the real twist comes with the arrival of Bong-su, an evil spirit who possesses Gyeong-wu’s body. That’s where the drama takes a sharp turn from cute to chaotic, and honestly, it’s where things get really fun. Bong-su is a former teenage soldier who died in war, his soul twisted into something sinister—but deep down, he's just a lost kid yearning to live again. Through Gyeong-wu’s body, he gets to experience all the youth and freedom he was robbed of... and unexpectedly, he falls for Seong-ah.
Yes—you read that right. The ghost that needs to be exorcised ends up falling in love with the exorcist. It’s an emotional, ironic twist that brings so much heart to the story. You’re not just watching a supernatural romance—you’re witnessing layers of longing, identity, and second chances.
What truly elevates this drama, though, is the performances. The leads absolutely shine, especially during the possession scenes. Watching their dual personalities shift—from grounded to mischievous, soft to fierce—is both entertaining and impressive. Seong-ah’s possession was one of the highlights for me—her performance was electric—but sadly, it only lasted for one episode. Still, that brief moment was unforgettable.
The soundtrack perfectly complements the show's tone—light, whimsical, with just the right emotional undercurrent. It never feels forced, and it really enhances the viewing experience.
If you're someone who enjoys dramas with heart, humor, and a little supernatural spice, this one’s for you. Don’t be discouraged by the sugary start. Stick with it, and you’ll be rewarded with a story that’s touching, unexpectedly deep, and full of charm. A fun, feel-good watch with just enough twists to keep you hooked.

Watch this for Choo Young Woo
I started this drama with literally zero expectations. At first I thought it was just going to be one of those over the top silly no plot dramas that you just shut your brain off and ignore incosistencies because it is just that fun to watch and it is pretty fun it's getting better and better as each week.Choo Young Woo was what mainly drew me here, I think it's ood that he keeps getting cast as a teenager when he doesn't look like one, plus he's so much better at villain roles, so much better. The drama is so fun that I don't mind that he looks older than his peers. Right off the first episode my second male lead syndrome hit me hard!! like girl I know Gyeonu is handsome but, look at Jiho for god sakes, the dude is perfect!!. I said that Choo Young Woo is better at Villain roles and this week's episodes have made me so happy, possessed Bae gyeonu is absolutely hilarious! I am loving every second of it even though I know I'mnot going to like the ending very much and I'm pretty sure I'm going to rewatch the whole thing once the remaining episodes air.
I've finished the series and I think it was an overall good story, with a few hiccups here and there, Episode 10 was a total disaster, 11 was weird and 12 while not being the most logical wrapped up everything nicely so I can't really complain much, it's about ghosts and magic it's not grounded in reality to begin with.
My second male lead syndrome still stands strong with this one, but I still enjoyed the ending. I'm definitely going to watch it again and soon.

In the beginning I didn’t like how serious stuff was breezed over or taken lightly but then I accepted that it's just how the show is but it's getting harder to ignore as episodes pass.
The shamanism stuff was interesting in the beginning but other than just it's meh. Not really a bad watch if you just want an easy no-brainer quick or light watch.

A Mess Dressed as a Drama
Some dramas know that they want to be teen rom-coms and some know they want to be supernaturals. When a drama doesn’t know what it wants to be, you don’t get a genre blend.. you get a mess. Head Over Heels is that mess.Story
The drama starts with an interesting premise: a young shaman falls in love with one of her customers at first sight. There is a catch though - he is plagued by misfortune, and worse, he is destined to die in 21 days. She promises to save him. The obstacles are compelling on paper. He turns out to be her new classmate, and he utterly despises shamans. With the help of her loyal best friend, she manages to save him.
That is the core story. Unfortunately, around the halfway mark, the drama seems to lose faith in its own premise. Instead of deepening the existing conflict, it pivots in an entirely new direction - one that exists mainly to give the leads ample opportunity to engage in self-sacrificing noble idiocy.
Things I Sometimes Liked:
Characters: Sung-ah is mostly likeable. Her best friend Ji-ho is consistently likeable. Gyeon-u is a mixed bag. The various shamans are a confused lot who can’t seem to decide whether they are powerful or not. Yeom-hwa, who in my opinion deserved a painful death, is handed a convenient redemption arc that is forced down our throats. The second antagonist, Bong-su, also receives a wholly undeserved free pass. More on that later.
Performances: I sometimes liked some performances. With the arguable exception of Cha Kang-yoon, almost every performance feels uneven - so much so that it feels like watching two different dramas spliced together.
Cho Yi-hyun clearly has range, but the drama wastes a golden opportunity to show a teenager leading a double life: dreamy student by day, formidable shaman by night. While she does an uneven but passable job, Choo Young-woo does not. His Gyeon-u is painfully one note. Whether he is playing Gyeon-u or Bong-su, very little changes. Even Kim Mi-kyung comes off more robotic than stoic, and Choo Ja-hyun’s Yeom-hwa is flat throughout.
Lore: The lore is interesting (when it makes sense).
Things I Did Not Like:
Script
This is one of the most confused scripts I’ve seen in recent memory. It leans heavily in one direction at the beginning, then pulls a classic switcheroo midway through. It’s irritating. And the loopholes.. oh dear. They are large and plentiful. Because of them, the drama feels like it has dissociative personality disorder.
Lack of Accountability for Characters’ Actions
This is my biggest issue with the drama. Characters are repeatedly absolved of horrific actions simply because they have tragic backstories.
Yeom-hwa commits a staggering list of despicable acts: she keeps on cursing an innocent child for money, curses an old woman’s soul to hell to drive that child toward suicide, creates an evil deity for reasons the script never bothers to explain, and ultimately causes the death of her adoptive mother. Her solution to her own mistakes? A murder-suicide. Oy!
And for all this, she walks away scot-free, framed as a tragic figure deserving sympathy because she lost a child in the past. Apparently, that loss justifies destroying someone else’s. A wardrobe change and a sad smile are apparently all it takes to earn forgiveness. No thanks.
Bong-su. Yes, he was a child soldier who died an undeserved and untimely death. Let’s assume he has no control over his murderous urges. Even so, the undisputed fact remains: he kills 99 innocent people. He willingly tries to kill the ML and wants to trap the FL in some half-world dream state. And then - boom - because the FL decides he is “innocent,” he gets a free pass and an upgrade straight to heaven.
Where is the accountability? What happened to the principle that forgiveness is earned, not handed out like candy?
Lore
Even with my near-zero understanding of shamanism and its rules, it’s obvious that the lore in this drama works or stops working, purely to stretch the story to 12 episodes. It bends, flips, and contradicts itself constantly. It’s ridiculous.
Performances
The unevenness of almost all the main performances only amplifies the script’s problems.
Noble Idiocy
The two leads repeatedly hide crucial information from each other “for the other’s own good.” Their incessant attempts to die for each-other gets tiring pretty soon. Yikes.
Overall
Head Over Heels mistakes suffering for depth and redemption for resolution. Its inconsistent script and uneven performances only magnify the story’s flaws. Without consistency or accountability, the drama drains its own story of meaning and impact. This has landed on the red side of my entertainment ledger.

the story is so good that it grabs you in the first chapter
i waited day after day for the episodes to arrive. it had been a long time since a "school" drama had gripped me so strongly to the point of leaving me hooked like this. the fact that the story was different from what we're used to seeing was one of the strong points that made the drama so popular, and of course, the plot was good until the tenth episode. seong-ah disappearing for three years would never make sense, at least not for the seong-ah we got to know over the course of ten episodes. they could have used bong-su much more too. many talked about the general's death, but honestly, it makes total sense that she gave her life for her daughter, and for me, it was one of the highlights of the drama. the last two episodes don't deserve more than three stars, but I can't ignore the incredible first ten chapters. my rating for this drama is eight stars. Was this review helpful to you?
Eventful dark fluff
This drama really has a little bit of everything, friendship, magic, evil, suspense, hidden identities, double identities, depression, sports, romance and bromance... and a cute ghost dogWith a cute bubbly female lead with a hint of bad ass and slight lack of intelligence. A cold to obsessed male lead and a second male lead that is just so cute I got some type of combination SLS and hoping for them to either skip the romance or build a thruople/forple with the ghost where they live happily ever after in a house full of ghosts or letting the secound male lead end up with any one of them as he truly was the brights character in this show. The first half of the drama was a 9 the second a 7 making this a solid 8.
Not a must watch but a decent entertainment, Id say purely entertainment way to pas your time that is sure to grab your attention and keep it occupied.

The chemistry was chemistrying and the second lead was NOT annoying at all.
Imagine the world where the main couple's chemistry is out of this world, the second male lead is NOT annoying and the drama has both comedy and thrilling moments - this all is possible if you watch "Head over heels". Yes, it's that easy. It's such a good drama, the storyline was nice and character developments were amazing. I felt so sad about the soul's story when it all came crashing down, but I'm so glad the soul got to hug the girl for the first and the last time. I'm really glad I watched the show. Was this review helpful to you?

Promising but disapointing
I haven't finished it yet, but not excited to do so.I saw a lot of people talking about this show and was expecting great things, let's say I'm disapointed.
Story :
Was promising but really disapointing. The characters aren't interesting, the love plot isn't interesting, and the story around the shamans is disapointing as a lot of situations could have been avoided. And from what I've read the last two episodes may be even more deceiving. I don't mind a sad ending, but I hope they don't make it a stupid sad ending.
Characters :
Seong A : Basic female lead in kdrama. I've seen edits where they make her look like a badass female lead : don't fall into it, it's a trap. While she sometimes shows that you can't step on her, she still is a crybaby, and they made her act cute A LOT. It's kinda cringe to see how she acts. But like I said, basic kdrama female lead, especially in a highschool setting. Talking about her shaman experience, while she shows more of her aptitude as the shows goes on, it's nothing crazy. Her backstory is interesting, but they don't show a lot of it, I think they will talk about it more in the last episodes but not sure about it.
Gyeon U : Apart from being cursed by misfortune and having a pretty face, it's an empty character. Nothing interesting about him. He's here, but that's it. I feel like they even rushed his story ? Like growing into misfortune and being rejected from his family because of it make his whole character but they neglicted his back story. Also the death of his grandma ? Apart from one (or two -I don't remember- episodes) where he's followed by a su*cide ghost they don't talk much about it ? Like the person who loved him and raised him died, give us some heartbreaking scenes. I like the evil spirit who possessed him more, because he actually have something crazy : a personality.
Ji Ho : Like Gyeon U, he's here but nothing partiular about him. Also cringe to see how he acts once he realise he loves Seong A : he's third wheeling to hard and somehow he not only accept it but also create situation where he's third wheeling ?
Yeom Hwa : pure evil, but somehow accepted by everyone ? Like they literaly let the wolf into the fold. They tried to create a villain origin story, but nothing groundbreaking.
Love Story :
Two not so interesting characters falling in love. Seong A fell for a pretty face, and Gyeon U fell for her sympathy ? They love kinda started from nowhere and doesn't make an interesting relationship.
And the love triangle is so forced and annoying. Also sorry but the scene where Seong A goes to Gyeon U and Ji Ho competition and only encourages Gyeon U ?? Like girl be nice to the only friend you had pleaaaase.

A Magical Tale of Fate, Love, and Identity
Head Over Heels is a heartwarming and refreshingly unique Korean drama that weaves fantasy, romance, and personal growth into one unforgettable story. It follows a spirited young girl who lives a double life: by day, she tries to be a normal high school student; by fate, she’s also a gifted shaman. Her world turns upside down when she meets a boy cursed with a powerful bad omen. From their very first encounter, sparks fly—not just romantically, but spiritually. What begins as a mission to save him slowly transforms into a heartfelt journey of understanding, healing, and love. The chemistry between the leads is tender and believable, developing in ways that feel natural and emotionally satisfying.
What truly makes Head Over Heels stand out is the emotional depth beneath its supernatural premise. It explores themes of identity, duty, loneliness, and acceptance. The female lead’s struggle to balance her spiritual responsibilities with her desire for a normal life is portrayed with honesty and warmth. The male lead, dealing with isolation due to his “curse,” finds new purpose in her presence.
Visually, the drama is stunning. The use of traditional Korean shamanistic elements blended with modern teenage life creates a fresh and captivating aesthetic. The writing is thoughtful, and the humor is well-placed, offering moments of lightness without undercutting the emotional beats.
If you’re looking for a drama that’s more than just romance—something magical, soulful, and filled with heart—don’t hesitate. Head Over Heels is a hidden gem that beautifully balances fantasy and reality, reminding us that sometimes, love itself is the most powerful form of healing.

The new take on Shamanism is fresh and furious
The journey of Fairy Cheon Ji has reached its culmination after a roller coaster ride.A month back, we met a shaman who was busy saving people from spirits and managing her school. Her spirit mother gave her a normal life during the day which her biological parents snatched from her. She befriended Ji Ho and found her first love in Gyeon U. The mushy and quirky take of ghosts and life enroute through psychological issues.
There are 3 reasons that you should try this drama.
Not the cliche ghost drama
It is not a cliche ghost drama. Here the shaman has reached this level at a young age. This is because she has always been a shaman in her entire life. She hates it often, but does not want to deny it.
Romance has softly taken the back seat
They are in school. This is the time when people develop crushes, fall in and out of love. They find their dreams and very often change what they really want to be in their life. The director kept that rawness alive till the last scene.
A cute bromance and a soft love triangle
Though Ji Ho and Gyeon U, both are in love with one girl, that did not stop them from becoming friends with each other. They always had each other’s back despite their heart beating for Fairy Cheon Ji.
Jo Yi Hyun has done a terrific job in portraying the role of a young shaman. After her stellar performance in All of us are Dead, the girl has been deeply missed. Chu Young Woo is the new blue eyed boy of the town. This tall brooding man has been winning hearts with different meaty roles that are establishing him as a strong actor of the next league. Cha Kang Yun has deeply amazed the audience with his strong support. The chemistry between the trio is more fiery and layered. It brought the story alive successfully.
It is our mind that always makes things wrong. And the journey proved it repeatedly.
