Gorgeous cast, beautiful costume, beautiful makeup/hairstyles but way too many deaths.
I love the cast, one of the rare Chinese dramas where I like all the main cast (Bai Lu, Ao Rui Peng, Dai Luwa and Chang Hua Shen). The costumes and makeup in MM is insanely beautiful, I really want to know the name of the person in charge of it. The story is interesting but also feels forced in many aspects. It also turns repetitive, everyone in this drama is so eager to die, the death counts are crazy, almost everyone died, even Fan Yue died twice, nobody has a good endin except for FY & BS. But then it doesn't feel like a happy ending anymore when everyone else died.Idk... I don't think I would ever watch a drama written by Xing Ling anymore.

Amazing characters and compelling story! ~
I loved this drama and and was impressed by the cgi and the production of this. The characters were all amazing and I loved how they built their backstory really well like I felt we got to really know them. The pacing was perfect ofc although i think it deserved more episodes because i feel that it being 40 kind of had and impact on the ending but regardless the progression with bai shou and fan yue’s relationship was done splendidly. I especially want to praise the actor who played chong zhao and the hidden lord like that was incredible that he managaed to pull off playing two different actors without making them feel the same. I was also adored by Bai Lu’s acting and ever since watching the kunning palace her crying scenes are always selling like shes really talented and I cant wait to see more of her works. The story was really good and kept me engaged and there was never a point where i felt bored but i think it had more potentital to change things up a bit but overall really nice drama. I must say that the ost for this drama is freaking insane i love it so much. This might be too much but I genuinely think that this is one of the best romance dramas out rn that I’ve watched. It has a great storyline and no toxicity and no silly misunderstandings just a healthy relationship between the two leads. It wasnt over bearing and really simple to follow along and I was entertained. I would highly recommend this to anyone whos just looking for a show they can laugh and enjoy! Was this review helpful to you?

The drama revolves around a complex web of love, secrets, and destiny, set against a backdrop of ancient traditions and supernatural elements. The script is impeccably written, balancing suspenseful twists with heartfelt moments that resonate deeply. The dialogue is poetic and meaningful, elevating the emotional impact of every scene.
The performances are exceptional, with the lead actors delivering powerful portrayals of their characters. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, drawing viewers into their journey of love and sacrifice. The supporting cast also shines, bringing depth and nuance to the story’s intricate layers.

Enjoying Moonlight Mystique
Moonlight Mystique is a captivating drama that masterfully weaves together romance, wuxia, fantasy, and melodrama, making for a truly compelling narrative. With its fast-paced storyline and well-developed characters, the main cast brings the story to life in a truly impressive way.I appreciate a compelling female lead, and this character must be written in a way that inspires me to support her. Among numerous characters, the female lead's remarkable ambition, noble drive, and relatable motivations make her stand out. Furthermore, her lively and entertaining personality, perfectly captured by Bai Lu's acting, makes her a delight to watch. Witnessing a female character act with autonomy and navigate life's complexities is truly captivating
Excellent chemistry exists between the leads, and their believable interactions always captivate me. Their scenes are truly convincing and speak for themselves. This also underscores my desire to see authentic chemistry between the leads. For me, exceptional acting occurs when I forget that I'm watching performers and instead believe they embody the characters they're portraying, which is undoubtedly achieved by both leads here. The costume design is deserving of acclaim for its amazing bolors, which flawlessly encapsulates the character's essence. The costume department has demonstrated exceptional skill. Furthermore, the drama's utilization of lighting and color is visually breathtaking. The original soundtrack is equally commendable, featuring harmonies that are aurally pleasing. Notably, I found myself fully engaged in the narrative, without the inclination to skip any scenes, which speaks to the drama's effective pacing. The fight scenes are also noteworthy, particularly those between Fan Yue's subordinates and Chang Zhao. The CGI is remarkably well-executed, striking a balance that is uncommon in xianxia dramas. In conclusion, I highly recommend Moonlight Mystique, a captivating xianxia drama that has managed to hold my attention from the very beginning.

Excited and wanting more rn
Story so far is soo good, but I don't know why the haters are already writing down 1 star reviews when we're just 25% into the entire series. I swear, these people can deny it as much as they want but it will never benefit you in any way if you hate on Bailu, it hasn't even been a week and people are already complaining, then go and make a better film instead of spending your time online just to hate on her?Anyways, let's put that aside. I've been seeing alot of comments regarding about the cgi and unfortunately I have to agree as well, it's horrible. And no I am not hating on Bailu, I'm doing the literal opposite, just gonna complain about the production team and everyone in that mini circle. No words can describe how much I hate the people who was in charge of filming and editing the scenes of Bailu ( and the rest of the cast ). They be choosing the most random ass looking angle to film, thinking they had done a good job but it's sad, because I have a question. How much experience do these guys even have in filming? I doubt I could do any worser, let alone a freaking toddler who has no experience whatsoever in the field of filming. Was the camera too heavy? Did a bird flew in their eye throughout the months of recording? Do they have eye problems? What seems to even be the issue, seriously. I've never once watched a drama, focusing solely on the scenes with random angles. I'm ranting so much because I'm so angry, Bailu casted into this piece of trash of a drama where she has people criticizing her because of the production team's fault who suck at their jobs. Seriously so done with the antis, they could eat crap for all I care. It's not her fault she was casted into this drama without knowing the filmers would be this garbage, it's truly a pity for her, if the filmers had done their job right then the haters will finally shut their mouth up. As for the editors... RETIRE PLEASE. I'm more than 999% sure that MM ha a big budget so why the hell do these people look like their new to CGI? I feel so upset, because I wanted Bailu to shine a lot this year and I am greeted with this, this drama is such a humiliation to her. If I was her, I'd sue.
Sigh.. but whatever, I'm still watching till the end for Bailu <3, why am I even ranting lol. So if anyone is even reading this, PLEASE watch the end and make sure to give MM a good rating. I know this drama probably already doesn't deserve it already because of the quality of the drama, but please do consider Bailu's rep and help her out. Right now, the story is actually pretty interesting and I really love the romance which is starting to form between her and ML. Just let the poor written script slide for once, it's not her fault that the production team is like this, she couldn't have predicted that this drama will start and end like that. :P
Personally for me, nothing as matters as long as a story is written well and interesting. Set your priorities straight, don't ditch some actors just because of faults that isn't even theirs to begin with, they're actors who literally have to follow whatever that's written and given to them lol. They can't decide how their makeup, costume or dialogues will be like, nor their personality.

Only watching for the 2nd CP Story and Bai Lu's beautiful face
The drama is taking it self way too seriously in some ways and way too frivolously in others. Watching on 2X and skipping whole sections and I still had to give myself a prep talk at ep 6 because I knew I couldn't stop without knowing the 2nd FLs story.CONS
comedy is LAME
sound effects are abysmal; there's a scene where the ML takes hold of FLs chin and the sound is like a rubber ball hitting a wall. what the actual....
cinematography and editing sub par
storyline is dumb. have the writer and director not heard of "show don't tell? "
How did the main CP even fall in love? Tell me what about the ML made the FL fall in love?!
Pros
Bai Lu's face
The 2nd CP is in for a predicable but angsty story, and at this point I don't care if the main CP dies, I want a happy ending for these two after all the bul*shit they've been through.

A great thing runned by story
The acter and actress were good at their acting but the change in character behavior was incoherent to their conditions . Characters were inconsistent in their own behavior. The story look like planned event rather than consistent in flow.what i mean is the psyche of characher was inconsistent with their behavior and set up
Declaration: i personally like bai lu so my review may be biased

Gorgeous World With Amazing Cast
Whether or not Moonlight Mystique is good is quite debatable. For me, there are some reasons it wasn't good, while others made up for it.Let's begin with the acting.
Bai Lu plays the main female character, Bai Shuo, in Moonlight Mystique she is a multi-faceted character and Bai Lu has done a wonderful job at showcasing each and every emotion. From very annoying, brat and stubborn girl who wants to become immortal, the body switch plot, to a divine being full of love and willing to protect her love ones at all cost. I've watched Bai Lu for years and honestly her acting doesn't disappoint. Bai Shuo's story was a tragic one but at least she had someone at side by the end. Bai Shuo isn't your typical mistress in distress, however, she overestimates her own power, thus she would exert herself to protect Fan Yue.
Ao Rui Peng played the imposing Demon Lord, Fan Yue. Fan Yue's story was also a tragic one, in fact everyone's storyline was very tragic, very typical of xianxia dramas. Despite rumors of how scary and imposing Fan Yue, he is actually very soft hearted demon who helps his people as well as those who are close to him. He is very, VERY protective of Bai Shuo. Honestly, I lost the amount of times he sacrificed his life for Bai Shuo. This is my second drama of Ao Rui Peng and he did a great job actually, nothing too awkward, but you can totally tell this is his first romance focused drama with kiss scenes. Anyhow, I hope he gets more main roles in the future. I don't know if this is a tidbit of Ao Rui Peng or his character direction, but the way he hugs Bai Shuo (and some other character I shall not name) was very heartwarming and cozy-looking. I like the way he nudges their heads like. It was just something I had notice because it shows that his hugs were very genuine.
What I like about Moonlight Mystique is each arc has great plots with amazing acting from each side character. Tragic stories but amazing acting nonetheless.
Dai Lu Wa portrayed the demoness, Fuling. Honestly, after her true identity was discovered, I kind of wish she was kept alive just to surprise the audience. Yes, she was the most unremorseful character in the beginning but I forgave her pretty quick. I think Dai Lu Wa did a great job portraying the diferent perspectives of Fu Ling. Her emotions felt raw and poignant, it really tugged on my heartstrings sometimes. This is my second drama of Dai Lu Wa, the last drama I've watched of hers was from 2018 so this drama has showcased the massive improvement in her ability to enact such strong emotions. I would definitely continue to watch more of her dramas from now on.
Turtle Shifu aka Lao Gu was really funny. The actor, Li Yu, did a pheneomenal job giving the character such amazing personality. I loved him the most!
Chang Hua Sen played Chong Zhao. This is my first drama of Chang Hua Sen and my first impression of his acting was very positive. His emotions were very natural; albeit he was very annoying in the beginning, but I digress. I think when the story changed later on, I did take notice of his character's good and bad sides. He acted them out pretty naturally that you'd think it would've been twins acting out instead. lol
Notable mentions would be the actress and actor of Ling Long and Rong Xun (Pan Jun Ya and Quan Yi Lun respectively.) Out of all the side quests the main characters went on, I am still stuck on Ling Long and Rong Xun. It's mostly because these two acted very well, and I really wish to see them as leads some day - their chemistry was amazing and the acting was very natural!
The cinamatography, and CGI of this drama was pheneomenal! I really enjoy watching the CGI the most, the colors were beautiful! Everything just looked very realistic. This is coming from watching The Last Immortal right before watching Moonlight Mystique. The editing and the CGI in TLI was horrendous while Moonlight Mystique's was amazing. I do blame the post-production team for that so it's not the actors' fault. But it is something I cannot stress enough about, it just shows that MM was a high budget drama.
Something else I quite like about this drama was that it's not your typical demons are bad, immortals are good drama. In this drama, it tells us that not all demons wants to kill everyone or are bad. While not all immortals are good people either, and they can also live like they're homeless ngl. In contrast, the demon palaces were GORGEOUS! The most gorgeous demon lair of all xianxia dramas I've ever seen! I loved the color combinations of the floors, walls, and furnitures, etc.
Now for the reasons why I did not truly enjoy this drama to the fullest.
It was just too predictable! Literally, I've never been able to predict what could happen from the beginning to end of a xianxia drama. There would be something that surprises you. In this drama, the obvious people were already there instead of keeping us guessing. So yes, this is your typical xianxia drama - everyone dies - some will not but most will. I just wished they kept at least one more person alive just to surprise the audience but nah, the directors just wanted everyone dead. *rolling my eyes* I just hate that it's so cliche, I didn't want to keep being right but here we are. What's new?
It took me 17 episodes to get into the drama because some plots were a little confusing because it didn't make sense at all! Some characters were conveniently there for the plot, it was weird - difficult for me to explain why honestly.
Nonetheless, I barely skipped an episode - I was very eagered to watch Moonlight Mystique. Would I recommend it? If you really enjoy watching xianxia dramas with really good CGI and action scenes then yes, please watch it. if you don't want a predictable, cliche drama then no, watch something else.

Best story of the 3 related shows….
Comparing this to both Ancient Love Poetry and The Last Immortal, I would say the story in this one was the best of the 3. Although all the stories are interconnected, they are all still written as standalones and can be judged separately. The Good
The character building, development and world building is what stood out the most to me in this show. I appreciate that each important member received a backstory, from Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, Cang Shan, Tian Huo, Qi Feng, Mu Jiu, Bai Xi and Chong Zhao. The directors allowed us to be able to connect with each character through their separate journeys which does elevate this story of the 3. The acting was also decent in here. Everyone did a good job at portraying genuine emotions with some characters shining throughout (Dai Lu Wa was definitely the star of this show). I enjoyed both sibling arcs of our main leads with damnation, redemption and sacrifice. It was truly heartbreaking to see. The relationship between our main leads was also written much better than most xianxias. No random break ups or misunderstandings. The two characters relied on and trusted each other throughout the whole show which was nice to see. I definitely enjoyed the soundtrack in this show. It helped elevate the scenes.
The Bad
There were some plot holes for sure. These were plot holes independent of the other 2 shows but things the director probably messed up on or just forgot the logic on. Happens in a lot of fantasy shows though. Wish the CGI could have been consistent. For the most part, it was decent because the production value was higher but when it came to the hidden power, the black goo looked terrible. Some of the characters lacked depth and were too one dimensional as an example, like most of the eternals were and especially characters like Mo Li. It makes some of those characters uninteresting to the story and hard to connect with because their motivations are too basic, making them hard to relate to, care about and unreal. This xianxia still followed much of the same formulas of past xianxias. I’m still patiently waiting for something new and fresh because I like the genre.

A love that transcends beyond races, ages and times!!
Moonlight mystique is an excellent xianxia masterpiece, in my honest opinion.I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though in the beginning, I felt a bit confused, the latter half totally engaged me in the story and twists and turns. I truly enjoyed watching the Outlander's, stone clan, bodhi village and the divine race arcs.
The costumes were excellent matching with beautiful sets that perfectly suit for the plot.
The special effects and action scenes were superb.
All the actors were truly fabulous in their performances. Bai Lu, Ao Ruipeng, Dai Luwa, Chang Huasen and others were excellent💯
A special mention to Han Dong for effortlessly playing a sinisterous antagonist👌
The drama takes us on a journey of Bai Shuo who, meets Fan Yue and together gather contemplations for their own purposes, in the beginning, but face many hurdles and life and death situations and heartwrenching separations, and gradually uncover their past life and finally putting an end to evil, therefore, establishing peace in the world.
Truly a MASTERPIECE!!
I am sure you will enjoy each and every moment.
Kudos to the director and everyone🤗for such a beautifully crafted, marvelous xianxia drama!!
