10 yrs of physical pain vs 300 years of emotional pain. Who can say which hurt more?

This dramas seems to be very polarizing for a lot of people. Reviews range from this being a masterpiece to a redone xianxia plot with the same characters that they've seen hundreds of times before.

For casual viewers, the story might seem like a recycled xianxia plot that they've seen before and they're not necessarily wrong. Superficially, the ML and FL have misunderstanding which causes them to exact revenge, nothing new. What makes this drama different is knowing that not everything is as it seems. Knowing that there will be many plot twists forces you to almost become a detective and to engage and notice every single detail from the seemingly innocent actions to the microexpression on the actors' faces.

Many people are either looking for something to pass their time or they're not willing to give the drama a chance. Nothing wrong with that, Feud just won't be your cup of tea.

This is the first drama that I have ever felt compelled to write a review on. Seeing so many people either blaming/siding with BJS or HRY, I would like to put my two cents in.

While I agree that communication could have solved some tension between the couple. The underlying issue is far harder to resolve. People are forgetting that they are the representation of yin and yang. One is fire, the other is water. One is warm in nature, the other is cold in nature. Their views and priority have never been the same. There was a reason they fought for thousands of years before finally calling a truce. The only common denominator between them was and is their love for each other.

HRY had wandered civilization for thousands of years before awakening BJS; so she is able to empathize more with humans. Whereas the first thing BJS saw when he opened his eyes was HRY, and all he ever cared about was her. She was the only one in his eyes and everything he has done was to keep her safe.

Both of their actions are valid in accordance to what they believe and see (BJS heartlessly abandoning her in the mortal realm vs HRY coming back after 10 yrs and trying to kill him seemingly out of nowhere). No one should be playing the blame game. No one can say who is hurt more. No one can negate nor dismiss either one's experience and pain. Neither of them are wrong.

All that said, I would highly recommend this drama for viewers. To come in with an open mind and attention to detail. BL and ZSX, along with the rest of the cast have done a wonderful job in depicting their characters.

Recommended Emotional rollercoaster

Great drama if you are in the mood for a good cry but don’t worry…our couple has a happy ending. If you’re on the fence, give it a go….just have tissues ready.

Synapsis: : Please stick with it!!!! without spoiling it too much, it’s about 2 immortals and their cycles of love and hate. It’s about sacrifice, regret, revenge, forgiveness, new beginnings, and old grudges. I say give it until ep 24!!!! I know it’s only 32 episodes and watching 24 episodes is more than halfway and a big chunk of time..but If you aren’t fully invested by ep 24, then drop the remaining 8..but like most viewers, you’ll become obsessed! It can be confusing because the story alternates between Past and present but for the most part, everything comes together.

Characters:

FL : Hua Ruyue is righteous and strong willed. She goes through hell and comes out stronger than ever. You will definitely cry with and for her. There were so many times I just wanted to give her a hug. Honestly, I felt she deserved MORE than what she got in the end but I’m just happy she ended up with our ML in the finale. Not only is Bailu beautiful but does such a great job acting-wise!!! She really is in the top of her game!👏🏼

ML: Bai Jusui is orderly, intelligent, and cold but you can see in his eyes his heartbreak, loyalty, and love for our FL. He breaks our FL’s heart over and over again so I get why she’s angry and hates him. He’s probably just a tragic as the FL, some would say even more so, but despite him hurting her and being the cause of what she went through, I very happy that he gets a happy ending with the FL too. *also, omfg. Joseph Zeng is just gorgeous with white hair. Minimal makeup and styling just made him more regal! Def looking forward to more of his dramas😍

Side characters were mostly done well. Some were annoying but overall, they didn’t overwhelm the main couples journey and they also had engaging storylines. If you watch, you’ll understand.

I’m so sad this drama is over. It definitely was a journey and not for the weak. Very likely to rewatch again. Although it had some hiccups, I still give it a 10/10 because it hit my heart in all the right places.

Feud is beyond disappointing, it's an abusive, toxic, repetitive, recycled trash!

"The Goods"
Pretty faces (Of course not the dude with the white hair, though my sister loves him)
Sound & Color Grading

"The Trash"
Plot that loops over and over and over again. He betrays her, she stabs him, she pretends to love him, she stabs him again, rinse and repeat till the end where they make peace.
Abusive spouse (Both spouse/main characters use violence against the other)
They expect us to believe one of the main character was simply pretending to be a reincarnate/different person without any visual depiction. The reveal and the explanation were from multiple characters talking about it.
Entire factions/organizations/cult going to war against one another, because of the main couple's love spat. Imagine Country A and Country B nuking each other because their presidents who were husband and wife had a fall out.

Do I recommend this trash? Yes if you've just taken a dump and need to clear out some trash. But in all seriousness, this show is just plain bad with such a basic amateur concept stretched out into 32 freaking episodes! It's just lazy writing or they are doing this for a quick payday. The fact that someone greenlit this atrocious script is appalling! It's of an intern-level scriptwriter's work. I paid for the subscriptions, give us better quality shows for our money!

As the name says the whole plot is feud!!!

not the lovey dovey Romance its feud Romance...
Starts a bit slow but has many plot twists keeps surprising the hry her misunderstandings bjs led to all the drama
still a really good watch plot and what leads when a couple don't communicate and keep all their hardships with themselves. Even though the ending is a happy one but i still wanted a better wanted with more scenes oh shi an and bjs and hry.
Like most xianxia dramas where the plot also revolves around the side characters feud is not like that its mostly about the BJS and HRY but still i binge watched during the airing how my support went from HRY to BJS then again HRY and BJS it just says that nobody is at fault its just the circumstances and upto ep 10 i actually believed in LQY. she deceived so well and also the second time also she deceived me i completely didn't expected it but yeah i wondered what actually BJS did in those 10 years and expected that he actually took the punishment and it was the only thing which i expected in the drama and the villain i just didn't understood him anyway how he did all those things just didnt add up for the losses he had yeah i know that he lost all his family but he also had taken so many lives due to his revenge he just pitied himself and has taken more lives than what happened to him . i just wanted him to die as soon as possible but he actually had BJS died.
Anyway even in the ending BJS revived because of the goddess of time thanks to her we at least had a happy ending. still needed more of them. and guys if you are up for some romance nope its not lovey dovey its about feud between a couple guys but still its a worthy watch
the ost were ok ok for me but the song sang by bai lu is really good!!

Started strong but took a ridiculous turn

I was fully engaged until the incredible twist in Episode 11. I can suspend disbelief for a good drama, but this was just too far from what went on beforehand. Until that point, I thought this was an enemies to lovers romance drama, but it is--as the title indicates--just a grudge. I kept on, despite the rankling disappointment, but it became like one of those stories you write with classmates, where I write a start, then the next person writes a part and usually thinks it's funny to completely change the storyline, and then the next person adds their ridiculous turn and so on. I'm not sure how a BaiLu drama could turn out this badly (I LOVE her), but unless you're into revenge plots, this one is a miss.

A BORING & UINSPIRING Show for a niche group of audience!!

As a huge fan of anything Zeng Shunxi! Unfortunately, this show became too tiresome and repetitive throughout the entire series, with lazy writing and uninspiring dialogues (a lot of it).

❤️ Pros ❤️
CGI (Yes this show made great use of CGI during the xianxia / fantasy sets/arc, they look soo pretty, however considering that they wasted the majority of the episodes in the mortal world and being plain mortals, we rarely got to see these beautiful visual.)
Costume (Yes some of the set pieces and costumes were fire omg)
Zeng Shunxi's acting (Yes despite being cast in a boring show, his acting skills are great!)

❤️ Cons ❤️
Boring turtle-slow paced script
Repetitive tiresome plot (multiple betrayals, just when you thought it's over, POOOF you've been betrayed AGAINNN)
Lazy writing (read more below, including the "fake" romance (they were pretending to be in love while holding evil intent multiple times repeatedly)
A show with nothing much to offer aside from the main couple's fight and betrayal between the 2 of them, while everyone else gets involve just because the main couple are their "leaders".

[SHORT SUMMARY]
This series to summarize, comprises of the ml and fl's love story which is mainly fueled by a lot of angst and vengeance caused by misunderstandings. It's not a sweet romance so take note of this! The "genuine" romance in this show is minimal, at least from how they portray these characters and you will only see genuine romance via flashbacks and during the last 2-5 episodes!

[EXPLAINATIONS]
There were multiple repeated instances where the characters were made to be "pretending" to be a different person, scheming against the other to eventually backstab the other main character once vulnerable to the other's "pretense". The issue with this is the team made the characters appear to show not a single hint of that "pretense", as if the character were truly a different person. Usually there's a need to show the audience at least something as seen in other shows with similar "pretense" kind of plot twists. This is a particularly awkward, lazy and poor attempt on the team's part to create a cheap plot twist and definitely not a "unique" and "quality" way of creating a plot twist *cringeeeee*.

They had the time to create a whopping 32 episodes, yet failed to take advantage of it by repeating the above character's actions over and over again D: It's as if all they had as "ideas" to keep the show moving were by having the characters backstab each other over and over again in multiple arcs. Additionally, the built up to each of these repeated actions were slow and filled with an insane amount of dialogue scenes at mostly repeated locations between the main couple and the side characters.

[FINAL SUMMARY]
To wrap things up! Feud serves a niche audience, my assumptions would be for those who may be more inclined to watch a really slow paced, heavy in dialogue show with a main plot that progresses at tortoise :3 pace OR audiences who are new to the scene and have not yet watched a truly well paced and directed series with exceptional scripts that offers a rich amount of content such as (Prisoner of Beauty, Moonlight Mystique, When Life Gives You Tangerines, Love Between Fairy and Devil etc). If you have not watched actual quality shows and are not familiar with film theory, you may consider Feud normal and a decent introductory series (similar to those who lack proper critiquing skills and typically leave sugar-coated all positive remarks and a 10/10 rating on every show be it good or bad *cringeeee* 😂).

[CONCLUSION]
To conclude, it's a massive no for me, nope not recommending this show :D I fully agree with others who have said that the show is slow and mostly boring with nothing much going on most of the time! Skip this show if you're not into slow paced shows with basic repetitive scripts. There are better more captivating series from Zeng Shunxi and Bai Lu out there as mentioned above, Feud offers no way close to that same level of engagement that the other shows I've mentioned offers. And I'm not even sugar coating by rating those shows a 10/10 😂 They each have their pros and cons and will be rated critically.

Something Feels Missing

"Checkmate by Chaos, When the Writer/Director Becomes the Dumbest Player"

[after 16 eps ] I neither see love nor hate in this , there’s no glimpse of a love-hate story. There’s absolutely no chemistry between the couple; they come across more like strangers, co-passengers just traveling, or colleagues working together.

The story is decent, and no doubt the actors are talented , I’ve seen and appreciated their work before. But here, they’re unable to bring that emotional depth into the narrative. Something feels off, which is why I can't really connect with it. It feels more like they’re just going through the motions, as if there’s no real spark. Makes me wonder if there’s some off-screen issue that’s affecting their on-screen performance.

Also, once the real identities are revealed, all the characters suddenly go through a 180-degree change, which doesn’t feel organic or in sync with the story’s flow. It seems like the makers are playing it safe , like romantic comedies (light hearted ) are often considered a "safe zone" genre.

Overall, it’s an okay-ish drama. There’s nothing particularly exciting or intriguing to keep you hooked or on the edge of your seat. I’m watching it mainly because there’s nothing else to watch , not because it’s genuinely compelling. That said, it doesn’t frustrate or annoy me either, which in itself is a plus point.

Other dramas not only fall short, but they’re also frustrating to watch. This one, despite its flaws, doesn't frustrate , like I said, it feels like a safe play.

overall okay-ish drama watch if you have nothing.

[after 28 eps ] Dragged by Fillers: There are more fillers than actual meaningful content, and the pacing is extremely slow. This story could have easily been wrapped up in 10–20 episodes.

Equality Claimed, Not Shown : If the female lead (FL) is supposed to be equal to the male lead (ML), then why doesn’t she have her own kingdom, palace, army, or loyal subordinates? Why did she have to make a mortal sect her follower? I mean, she can do that, but shouldn’t she already have her own people, especially if she holds equal status to the ML?

Also, they keep saying FL and ML are equally powerful, but FL isn’t even able to leave a scratch on ML. It’s only because of ML’s deep feelings for her that he allows himself to get hurt , he’s holding back. That’s not equality in strength; it’s just ML’s emotional restraint.

No Heart, No Hook : All the characters and the story feel lifeless. There's no depth, no backstory , nothing that helps develop the plot or the people in it. The way it has been executed makes it seem like the creators didn’t even try to give the characters any individuality. Everyone feels like background extras just standing around, rather than real people with real emotions or purposes.

I can't connect with this drama because it evokes absolutely nothing in me , no love, no hate, no sympathy, no empathy, not even sadness or happiness. And when a viewer feels that way, it’s a clear sign that the drama has failed to reach their heart. For me, this drama is a complete failure.

[after 32 eps ] From start to finish, this story is filled with foolish decisions and a complete lack of purpose. Not a single character can be called wise, nor did anyone truly demonstrate strength in the real sense. Every character kept making irrational, senseless choices. Even after achieving something as significant as immortality, they still came across as weak and directionless.

It felt like all the characters were pawns on a chessboard, and the writer was just randomly moving them around without any strategy. The writer was pulling the strings, but instead of crafting a clever game, he made every wrong move. The pawns-these characters, were being killed off at random, and for what? If this was a chess match, let me tell you, Mr. Writer, you’ve already lost.

Honestly, the biggest fool in this entire drama is the one writing it. And in the end, what does the female lead even achieve? Living in an illusion? Changing the past that doesn’t even affect the future? This is one of the most baseless and illogical endings I’ve ever seen in any drama.

Usually, I don’t care whether a character lives or dies at the end, what matters to me is the emotional closure, the meaningful farewell or message that most stories offer. But here? Nothing. No impact. It's as if the script was written under the influence of something, like the writer was high while drafting it.

I initially gave this drama a 5-star rating, but I’m changing that now. Even that rating feels undeserved.

Since giving a rating is mandatory while submitting a review, my rating will appear on this drama’s profile. But honestly, I didn’t even want to touch the rating section , I would’ve preferred to leave it completely blank. Thankfully, it’s not compulsory on the user profile, so it won’t show up in my actual list. Why should I even bother struggling to decide what rating to give something that doesn’t feel worth rating at all?

❌spoiler minor❌

A blunder worth mentioning: The villain says that he found out the female lead (FL) is the male lead’s (ML) weakness when they were imprisoned together for 10 years. But this makes no sense. If the villain was imprisoned for those 10 years, and during that same period the FL was being tortured in the mortal world, how could the villain have orchestrated or even been involved in manipulating her pain?

Isn’t that a clear contradiction?

Yes, if there had been some magical element or explanation allowing him to influence things from prison, that would be different. But nothing like that was mentioned or shown. So this stands out as a major writing flaw , a clear plot hole on the writer's part.

this is a spiritual lover

Watching this is like trying to pull a tangled thread into a proper spool. It's like you're picking up tangled threads that frustrate, confuse and annoy you but the condition is you have to be patient and thorough if you want to untangle them. I've seen many who gave up because of their impatience.

If you don't enjoy the feeling I'm describing then it's hard for you to finish this drama because it's not your type.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I enjoyed trying to untangle this thread, I enjoyed every hardship, struggle, pain, misunderstanding, confusion, anger, revenge, love, characters and life lessons that were conveyed indirectly.

Our two main actors worked very well together, they built chemistry, promoted as best they could, the acting was also amazing especially their eyes showed the right emotions. The costumes were beautiful as well as the make up and hairstyle, I love the OST that Bailu sang, I also enjoyed the two songs that Xiaoxi sang with Bailu and he bought the copyright.

Bailu, once again I salute and take my hat off to your acting which is very good at showing the feelings of your character. Portraiting Motherhood, crying in pain, crying in loss, deep hatred, pretending to be a sweet girl, a very broad love for mankind, and more. I remember hating her husband, crying in tears when she cried, laughing at her cuteness, truly a talented actor.

Xiaoxi, at first I didn't have high expectations for him like I did for Bailu cause i didn't follow him, but he really played his character very well. I was carried away by him, I remember being annoyed at the beginning and a few ep, helpless at his cuteness, and also momentarily moved by his love for his wife. He is also a great actor.

I had a great time sharing opinions, discussing and guessing with other viewers here about the characters and plot, I also enjoyed sharing funny videos and hot information about this drama. Especially the 10,000 heat index moment.

Trauma Bonding, Cliff Falls, and Questionable Immortal Life Choices

Let’s just say... FEUD is entertaining, but not for the reasons the production probably intended. This drama is a classic example of "big budget, high hype, chaotic execution."

The Good:

Visually stunning: The sets, costumes, and cinematography are gorgeous. The landscapes and ethereal quality of the xianxia world make for some pretty breathtaking moments. The drama is a feast for the eyes, even if it can’t always match the emotional depth.

Zhang Suan (played by Chen Xin Hai), is honestly the MVP — consistently reasonable and emotionally intelligent. Every time he appears, I exhale. A couple of episodes were highlights just because of him.

The antagonist Xiao Jing Shan (played by Hong Yao)? Surprisingly, the most grounded character in the entire show. When the antagonist has more brains than all the protagonists combined... it kind of makes you question who the real hero is. Low-key carrying the plot, high-key exposing everyone's emotional immaturity.

A few quotes and scenes hit surprisingly deep. "If there is no love, where does the hatred come from?" — yes, Shifu, preach.

Some of the BGM tracks are excellent, setting the right tone for those high-stakes moments. When the music hits right, it adds weight to the drama. However, let’s be honest: occasionally the background music sounds like it came from a budget synth machine, which kind of takes you out of the moment. Less cheap synthesizer, more grand orchestra, please.

The Mid:

It’s giving chaotic rom-com meets trauma drama. The first arc feels like a parody of xianxia, with editing so choppy you’d think scenes were being reassembled in real time. The romantic development often leans into limerence rather than genuine connection, and we're clearly meant to root for CP's with the emotional communication skills of a burnt-out office printer.

The "revenge for the lost child" angle had potential, but it’s wrapped in so much over-the-top drama that it loses its impact.

Tropes. So. Many. Tropes. If I had a jade bead for every time someone falls off a cliff, I’d be immortal by now.

The... Not-So-Good:

Let’s talk about the FL. I know she’s written this way for “tragic reasons,” but she’s emotionally stunted, full of repressed rage, and constantly projecting — to the point where I genuinely believe she needs therapy, not romance. Watching her feels uncomfortably familiar, like seeing unresolved family trauma play out on screen. It gets better in the second half.

And the ML? A walking red flag. The physical aggression, the emotionally unavailable brooding... at this point, their entire relationship screams trauma bond, not love.

Characters keep making irrational decisions and reacting violently before bothering to talk, "kill first, talk later" kind of interaction — even though, wisely, some characters do suggest "Just sit down and talk!" (Yes, Shifu, again. We hear you.)

The "romantic" interactions offer silent treatment, co-dependency and ultimatums. In terms of unhealthy communication, this drama delivers.

Conclusion:
I’m watching this more like a messy reality show than a sweeping fantasy romance. The production is expensive, but the storytelling doesn’t quite deliver — it leans too hard on old clichés and little genuine emotional growth.

Still, it’s oddly addictive in a “can’t look away from the car crash” kind of way. It’s a melodramatic, trope-filled chaos fest that might not be good, but is definitely memorable.

Epic Xianxia with a dream cast └(❤ω❤)┘

PLOT: The FL, a mortal, a weak recruit of a sect, is the double of the fire dead goddess. The ML, Grand Master of the sect and Grand Immortal of Dasheng, decides to marry her and have her ascend to the Nine Heavens. He constantly tests her to see if she is the Fire Goddess who betrayed him. Their relationship will also be complicated by romantic rivals.

+++ A lot of famous actors (too much to be able to name all of them)!
+++ Effects, CGI, fight scenes,... perfect!!
+++ Good OSTs with the opening song sung by Bai Lu and the ending by Joseph Zheng.

### Bad editing: the story is complex and scenes from different eras follow one another in the same episode, without any transition => This makes the narrative quite confusing.

=> Magnificent drama, with many characters hard to leave.

A great Xianxia series!

The misunderstandings drove me crazy LOL and Li Qing Yue | Hua Ru Yue with her non stop plotting. This woman played with Bai Jiu Si so much. At some point, you had to wonder if this scene was real or not.
In the midst of them always fighting with each other, you can clearly see still loved him despite all that happened and he never stopped loving her.
It did take a while for the whole truth to come out and while it was worth it. I won't speak on much and spoil it but that part regarding the time travelling item, was it just me who got confused and thought it was a crazy that whatever is changed in the past may not affect the future?
THAT JUST DIDN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME!!!!! I do understand that if changing the past would make everything perfect for the future but I don't think we would mind.
Overall it was great Xianxia series and the sound effect made the comedic scenes even more funny. They do have great chemistry and everyone played their role well.

Some part reminded me of Ashes of Love even though that is a wuxia series......
