The Plot Flatlined, but the Immortals Kept Breathing

Feud starts off with a bang – mystery, layered characters, and the kind of intrigue that makes you think you're in for something great. But the moment the curtain lifts, the illusion crumbles. Every “big reveal” is painfully predictable, and when the actual main twist drops… it’s laughably ridiculous. Not shocking, not clever – just absurd enough to make you question why you were ever invested.

Then comes the immortality loophole – used, abused, and milked dry. Fake deaths, dramatic near-ends, emotional farewells... only for them to pop right back up like it's just another Tuesday. We get it – they’re immortal. But if no one truly dies, what exactly are we supposed to care about? By the tenth “surprise” resurrection, the stakes are gone, the tension is dead, and so is our patience.

This show juggles so many storylines it could easily spawn three separate dramas, but instead of weaving them together, it just tosses them in a blender and hopes for a masterpiece. Spoiler: it’s not. It’s chaos in a pretty package – spiraling into a repetitive mess that recycles the same conflict in slightly altered settings with new outfits and background props. Nothing evolves. It’s just a prettier version of déjà vu.

Midway, the writers attempt to inject philosophical weight – long-winded arguments about humanity’s suffering vs the gods’ rigid order. While the theme could’ve been powerful, it feels far beyond the show’s scope. It’s surface-level depth pretending to be profound, and it shows.

The real tragedy here? The acting. The cast delivers with full conviction – grief, rage, conflict, tenderness – it’s all there. You can see them clawing at something more meaningful, trying to give weight to paper-thin lines and stretched logic. They deserve better than the script handed to them. Watching brilliant performances drown in this mess is almost more painful than the plot itself.

Feud is all spectacle, no soul – a drama that mistook immortality for immunity from bad writing, and in doing so, proved that even gods can be boring if you script them badly enough. It had the bones of brilliance but ended up a shiny, overhyped mess that mistakes complexity for confusion. What could’ve been an epic tale of gods, fate, and morality is reduced to a glittery loop of recycled drama – ambitious in scale, but hollow at its core.

Epic Xianxia with a dream cast └(❤ω❤)┘

PLOT: The FL, a mortal, a weak recruit of a sect, is the double of the fire dead goddess. The ML, Grand Master of the sect and Grand Immortal of Dasheng, decides to marry her and have her ascend to the Nine Heavens. He constantly tests her to see if she is the Fire Goddess who betrayed him. Their relationship will also be complicated by romantic rivals.

+++ CL with Bai Lu & Joseph Zheng └(❤ω❤)┘ └(❤ω❤)┘
+++ A lot of famous actors (too much to be able to name all of them)!
+++ Effects, CGI, fight scenes,... perfect!!
+++ Good OSTs with the opening song sung by Bai Lu and the ending by Joseph Zheng.

### Bad editing: the story is complex and scenes from different eras follow one another in the same episode, without any transition => This makes the narrative quite confusing.

=> Magnificent drama, with many characters hard to leave.

You can watch for eye candy MLs

It’s a good drama for a one-time watch, but honestly, it wasn’t worth stretching to 32 episodes. The story could have been wrapped up in around 20–22 episodes. Some scenes and side character storylines felt unnecessary and not worth watching. At times, it seemed draggy, so I often used fast-forward and skipped scenes that were too predictable.

What did I like the most?
Definitely Bai Lu’s acting. She portrayed the pain of an abandoned FL and her desperation to save her child so well that I could truly feel it. Those emotional scenes were the highlight for me.

Overall, it was just a decent drama — good for one watch, but nothing extraordinary.

A great Xianxia series!

The misunderstandings drove me crazy LOL and Li Qing Yue | Hua Ru Yue with her non stop plotting. This woman played with Bai Jiu Si so much. At some point, you had to wonder if this scene was real or not.
In the midst of them always fighting with each other, you can clearly see still loved him despite all that happened and he never stopped loving her.
It did take a while for the whole truth to come out and while it was worth it. I won't speak on much and spoil it but that part regarding the time travelling item, was it just me who got confused and thought it was a crazy that whatever is changed in the past may not affect the future?
THAT JUST DIDN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME!!!!! I do understand that if changing the past would make everything perfect for the future but I don't think we would mind.
Overall it was great Xianxia series and the sound effect made the comedic scenes even more funny. They do have great chemistry and everyone played their role well.

Some part reminded me of Ashes of Love even though that is a wuxia series......

Deep written, and fresh plot /plot twists

This one is a beautifully crafted Xianxia drama that blends romance, fantasy, and political intrigue with striking elegance. It hooks you in with its breathtaking visuals, well-paced storytelling, and rich world-building.

Bai Lu delivers a standout performance, portraying her character with strength, depth, and emotional nuance. Her chemistry with Shunxi is magnetic, making their complicated relationship all the more compelling. The supporting cast also shines, bringing layers to the story and raising the stakes with every twist.
The costumes and set designs are stunning, enhancing the ethereal atmosphere of the drama, also the OST perfectly complements each scene, leaving a lasting emotional impact.

it isn’t just a typical fantasy romance—it’s a tale of loyalty, betrayal, love, and power struggles that keeps you thinking long after the credits roll.

This review may contain spoilers

just when i was feeling sorry for FL, she makes me hate her.

Note: I love Bai lu, but i really was disappointed with the storyline. This review will contain partial spoilers. Read at your own risk!

The first half of the series, I loved it. I was upset with ML for treating FL terribly. He suspected that Fl was his ex lover / a goddess who died thousands of years ago. And FL kept denying it.
!!!(Major Spoiler Ahead)!!!
But, in the 2nd half of the series fl switches gears and admits to it?? I was SO mad bc why admit to it when i was hoping ML would get punished for accusing her throughtout the story.

All in all, I loved the music, the costumes, and the scenery. But, I dropped it bc I felt like whoever wrote the script was dragging the audience.

Can Love Conquer All Obstacles?

Feud is not your typical fantasy drama. It has many beautiful fantasy elements ,and the cinematography is breathtakingly beautiful. It is primarily focused on the main couple's journey of love and how love can go wrong. The plot is intriguing and has many twists and turns. It keeps you guessing and trying to figure out the truth. The main characters did a great job in acting. There are some heartbreaking moments that were beautifully portrayed by Bai Lu. Joseph Zeng did a great job acting, too. The ending was also perfect.

Fate playing villian like always ?

Story:
The story starts of as a very interesting one. The development may seem a bit low at certain points but it will get better.🤗 The twists are unpredictable and shocking. An ill-fated relationship unfolding while knowing the consequences. The story takes you to a journey to find out who among the fl and ml is the one who caused the FEUD. It literally is the story of a very long feud. The reasons are convincing and the cause is explained well.

Acting:
As an unwavering fan of Bailu I can't say anything 😅. But I will say it, it was fantastic. The acting alone is enough to convince you to watch the series. Bailu is known for her ml enemy roles😂 and as always she nailed it😍. The chemistry between the leads are really nice. Our girl has a PhD in chemistry so😉. I loved the acting of the ml. He displayed every single emotion perfectly. The supporting actors were good as well. The acting side is a full score.

Ending:
Not typical. But logical and reasonable based on the situations that unfolded. May seem unsatisfactory for some viewers, but personally I don't think anything else could make a better ending. It stayed true to the flow and feud of the story.

Overall:
For me this was a satisfactory drama. I watched it just for fl nothing else. But is definitely was excellent for me. The story, cast and the journey are well put together. Definitely give it a try if you like xanxia dramas with romance.
Not the best but definitely good enough for a one-time watch.
Can re-watch it for the romance and feelings but I can't personally re-watch any so...
Don't worry and give it a try. ☺️

Not Your Typical Xianxia: Beautiful Chaos of Morality and Love

Finally, I finished Feud, and I’m excited to share my thoughts. First of all, I think this drama is truly great. It’s not your typical xianxia story. It offers something deeper and more grounded. I’ll admit, my eyebrows definitely raised by the end of Episode 11 due to the sudden plot twist, but at the same time, it really piqued my interest and pulled me in. I’m glad that curiosity turned into a genuine admiration for the story.

What stood out the most for me is how this drama challenges the viewer’s moral compass. Normally, I don’t dwell too much on a drama’s “lessons,” since most stories try to teach something in their own way but Feud hits differently. It made me imagine myself in the characters’ situations and ask questions:

Would I sacrifice one person if it meant avoiding a bigger tragedy? Are we truly free, or are we just bound by rules that limit our desires? How do we live as imperfect humans in a world full of conflict, and how do we accept realities that go against how we want to live?

One thing that really struck me was the contrast between the two leads’ ideals. The FL empathizes with humans and wants to save them even if it means going against the rules. Meanwhile, the ML firmly believes in the natural order of the world, that fate can’t be changed, that suffering is part of the karmic cycle, and that trying to intervene only causes imbalance.

Is it right to interfere with destiny if it's out of compassion or is it wiser to let things run their course, even if people suffer?

It touches on themes like love, hate, empathy, acceptance, understanding, and redemption. It lets you think.

And honestly, there’s so much more to unpack but I’d rather let future viewers discover that for themselves.

On another side, I enjoyed the pacing. It felt consistent and well-organized. The buildup of their “feud,” the villain reveal, the sacrifices, and eventual redemption, it all flowed nicely. The acting was solid across the board. Bai Lu and Zheng Shun Xi really shine here. Their chemistry? So good. Cute without being overly dramatic. And you know, I quite made myself ready for some heartbreaks seeing Bai Lu is the FL in this xianxia lol

And can we talk visuals? Gorgeous. From the stunning CGI to the costumes (forever in love with xianxia outfits) to the set design. It is a feast for the eyes.

In the end, I truly loved it. For those about to start this journey, I hope you watch it with an open mind. Focus on what the story is trying to show you, not just the romance or fantasy, but the heart of its message.

A drama that will make you go "Ahh so thats why!!!"

A fantasy drama about love, revenge, divorce, healing, and endless mindblowing plot twists. I don't quite understand why some people were hating on the story, like are they really after THE WHOLE STORY or the FL and ML's sweet love story. I mean everything makes sense before the whole drama ended.
The casting is also a topnotch and the emotions of Bai Lu as both HRY and LQY, all her emotions circling in her eyes, her crying scenes, her natural acting is very suitable for this drama. Also, Joseph Zeng's acting skill has improved and becoming more natural.
WATCH THE WHOLE DRAMA before rating it low.

11 episodes of an emotional roller coaster.

The plot:
❌️ For the first 20 episodes : Slow and not interesting. Tone of the story feel off like something is missing but you can't guess what (because they give us no hint at all) and the intentional 2 dimensional acting of our main characters made it hard for you to fully immense in the story.
✅️ For the last 11 episodes : The revelation part /important part of the drama which was more interesting, tearjerker, full of misunderstanding and angsty level hit 10/10. I enjoyed this part very much because it made me feel so much. If xianxia is your genre , often we will see misunderstandings were used as plot device and of course our leads will thoroughly suffer and coughing blood in the story. If you don't like these elements in your drama, I suggest avoid FEUD at all cost.
☑️ The ending was too poetic for me to understand so I just take it as it is . Too lazy to be analytical . It was not the usual xianxia's ending so I am okay with that.

Character, Acting:
✅️ What made me persevered the first 20 episodes while hoping the story will get better is Bai Lu. She is my achilles heel :) .FEUD is my 7th drama of her and I will continue watching her work as long as the genre is my cuppa tea. Her perfomance as Hua Ru Yue was perfect for me. I cried when she cried .I think it is safe to say that the amount of her crying scenes here = the amount of how many times I cried while watching the drama lol. This was my 1st completed drama of Joseph Zeng and his potrayal as Bai Jiu Si complements Bai Lu's character well. I have no complaint.
✅️ I liked the fact that our main villain has charisma and actually terrifying and formidable. Our main characters and their supporters need to put huge amount of effort to put him down.
☑️ Romance and chemistry rating: 8/10. I was expecting more but their romance just purely sweet and nothing spicy. Not electric kind of love.
✔️ I don't care much about supporting characters here mostly I skipped or speed through their scenes except when Zhao Yi Qin appeared. His acting and character left much impression to me.

Cinematography, Costumes, OST :
✅️ Costumes : 9/10. I liked that ML has original white hair not the kind that only turned white because of suffering.
✅️ Cinematography : 8.5/10.
☑️ OST : 8/10 . Just okay.

Others :
✖️ Kiss scenes were very poorly shown. Such a pity because Bai Lu's a great kisser :)

My conclusion: FEUD is not the best xianxia ever made , it has flaws but some parts were definitely worth watching. If you are Bai Lu /Joseph Zeng's fan, you eat xianxia for leisure time and you like watching drama full of angst ,FEUD is for you.
