Very nice story but rushed ending…

- the actors made a great job , FL beautiful and elegant in her acting , Bailu never disapoints… ML he was a great choice , the first time you see him as distant but caring , but if you rewatch again you will see his silent desperation and enjoying her coming back to his life …
- the story is very interesting , I did not bother with the coming back in the to fix , and the two timelines makes sense ( even if they weren’t happy in the past in this timeline they can be in other ), but the ending was rushed , they could spent one more episode … I feel like in Chinese drama when they decided for a happy ending is like they see them kissing is enough…. Like they did not bother to put more scenes … I would love to see BJS like a father and trying to discipline a child or having siling saying : he is only a child baijiusi … would be lovely …. The plot is not perfect , the emissary how they deal with it ? They probably made some agreement, but we will never know …. Like BJS comeback take 99 strikes and come back home ? Or wait 100 years and they both are punished together ? The ending was really rushed … so their son has a fate , he should die as an infant , what they did later ? They could spent one more episode ……. Lol
- I like the ost of this drama , but in the begging the sound design was a little bit off sinc … the first scene when they met kissing the song was not fitting right …
- rewatching value : I will probably watch again in the future , but now we know how desperate and scared was the ML of meeting the FL again … not scared because he fear her , but he did get his heart broken so many times and did not know why …. And because there is a happy ending , is not an open ending , FL created another timeline where they were happy and in this one the ML spirit vanish for a while until recover all his energy back to live again while the female lead was waiting for him ( they are gods , their spirits does not work in the same way and you can not say died and reborn because they remember what they lived together ( when you die and reborn you forget your previous life ) , so you can say that ML lead got so weak that his spirit vanish for a few years , like FL in the begging of this drama , he did not know anything about her until she was in danger … because they can sense each other , so she knew where he was or how to find him …. No open ending , rushed Happy Ending ….

Great storyline- but didnt like the ending

Loved the series, and i watched all episodes without getting bored or skipping many scenes. The actors and actresses were great, the emotions were reaching the audience, and the music was nice too. I would give it a 10 if the ending didn't feel so empty... The lead protagonists went through too much but they didn't get a happy ending. Id rewatch it only for the 31 episodes and skip the last!

I'd dare say this is one of the best dramas of 2025

While this drama might not be everyone's cup of tea, this drama sure has one of the best structures when it comes to writing and executing the plot. Sure there might be quite a few plot holes but you can barely notice it unless you have been studying and watching a hundred dramas like me.

This is where most tools are used properly, the misunderstanding, the amnesia, the characters being manipulated by someone in the background. There was no waste on any tools that were used in this drama because all of them served their purpose.

And honestly, this is the first drama in years where i was surprised by the plot twist and that is really impressive. As a writer, I can almost always smell a plot twist miles ahead but this drama caught me off guard. I did not expect the plot twists that they revealed at those exact moments.

Again watch at your own pace, this might not be the drama for you right now but if you think about it in the future and wanna give it a go then do so. This is not a drama where you can comprehend at one part of your life. There's so much underlying and story between the lines where you can only appreciate if you're at that part of your life.

Would wanna watch it again.

Excellent storytelling, amazing chemistry. The only drawback? The last few episodes...

There is a LOT that happens in this show so I will list the pros and cons accordingly.

What I loved:
- I thought Joseph Zeng was a cutie even when I first watched him in Hi Venus, but him with his long white hair and historical fits was an unprecedented level of handsome.
- Fan Ling’Er as a character was fun and different. You really think she is a basic jealous love interest trying to get rid of Li Qing Yue at first. The reveal that they were on the same team was JUCIY. I loved it if for no other reason than I hate to see women tear each other down for a man. Then on top of it, I loved the relationship with her father. He truly did suck even if he "loves" her. It was hard watching her experience disappoint after disappointment with his choices.
- Zhang Suan in love with Li Qing Yue. But it is *absolutely unrequited*. I saw a review that said he was a “wallflower” but I think his role was actually refreshing. Secondary male leads are often turned into antagonist in a way that often feels misogynistic (trying to bring down the woman he claims to love after being rejected). However, here Zhang Suan is truly in love and loyal. Even when he knows a romantic affair is not in the cards for him with Li Qing Yue – she was a shining light to him and he does all he can to reciprocate that. His loyalty being what has Fan Ling’Er reach nirvana was a “fun” side quest. It was the same yet different from so many other fantasy dramas.
- **Li Qingyue and Bai Jiusi’s chemistry.** These two were not particularly romantic for 90% of the show, but the love was palpable
- Li Mo and his “love tribulation”. It was cool to see a platonic love story unfold.

What I liked:
- Even though his childlike behavior when his spiritual core was damaged was cliche, it worked well in helping them cross that bridge of him communicating and her realizing that he has always been made to be guarded in a way she was not so while he was wrong to lie to her back then, he wasn't entirely to blame either.
- Some people didn’t like the antagonist, but I liked that Shang Guan Ri Yue “dies” but actually takes over part of Zhang Suan’s body. I do think his back story leaves a bit to be desired. I don’t understand the importance of the steele and why they all couldn’t just cross this one dude’s name off if his mistake was that bad? But then we find out he was punished for like 100 years for the death of Shang Guan Ri Yue’s family so I’m a loss as to how he had so much hatred and anger in him tbh.

What I didn’t like:
- Hua Ru Yue’s resentment! It was 1000% justified but when she finds out the truth and tells his comatose body "this doesn't mean I forgive you," I had to roll my eyes. This man has only ever loved her and never *truly nor intentionally* harmed her. Even as she kills and hurts him over and over, he keeps trying to find a way to understand why she hates him. His biggest flaw was his inability to communicate but she was no better by never actually ever just telling him “being a mortal was hell because x, y ,z.”
- As a sub-note, I still don’t understand the semantics of Hua Ru Yue pretending to be Li Qing Yue for 300 years. I was truly expecting her to have amnesia or something so that not being the case was a nice surprise but I’m still like HOW DID SHE FAKE HER WHOLE SELF FOR 300 YEARS?
- The ending was 50/50. I am very glad we get a “happy ending” but just barely? I still don’t really understand the time travel and this is 99% the case with these time travel cop outs. I don’t get if this means she’s in a new timeline, the same timeline or something in between. Does this mean their child never dies? Does this mean Li Mo never dies? I just don’t understand these endings and they feel almost as bad as “it was all a dream” endings. This is honestly the main reason this show is a 9 and not a 10 for me personally.

***Original Thoughts & Ideas***
- With how much effort Hua Ru Yue put to get revenge on Bai Jiu Si, it really does call into light the idea of how love and hate are two sides of the same coin. Her hatred was born out of the feeling of betrayal from the love of her life. Her hatred was fed by her love for humans and her son only to witness their deaths.
- As I was watching this show, I just kept thinking wow Bai Jiu Si is so handsome and so in love but how can a man this in love not have checked on the woman he cares for over the course of 10 years and lo and be hold he was being jailed. The lesson here? COMMUNICATION IS IMPORTANT BRO
- Zhang Suan and Fan Ling’Er are excellent side characters that explore the dynamics of loyalty. Fan Ling’Er is loyal due to how Hua Ru Yue helped her when she needed it most, but **stayed loyal** because Hua Ru Yue *respected* her in a way her father never did. Zhang Suan is loyal because he quite literally wanted to die before meeting her but she gave him reason to live again.
- "Human kind behavior" was an interesting theme in this show. I like that you can’t make a blanket statement about the good or evil of mankind off this show. The lesson is really that they all deserve to live and to be seen as more significant than a passing ant. Humans are complex. As complex as the “immortals”. Their love can turn to hate. Their jealousy can weaken them, but their anger can strength them. Every one can surprise you with each choice they make.

feud

I completely fell in love with their chemistry. I honestly can’t believe how much I liked the chemistry between Bai Jiusi and Si Ling.

I didn’t really enjoy episodes 8 and 9. The Hong Lian storyline didn’t interest me at all.

The illusion arcs started to feel a bit repetitive for me, but I actually loved the reveal at the end — when it turned out that the child was symbolically their own. That part was really beautiful.

I didn’t like the final fight or the last villain. It felt random and over-the-top, like he suddenly destroyed everyone for no real reason.
about the ending, it left me with questions:
when she changed the past, What caused them to end up at that point again?
What happens to their child?
Or did the story create a whole new timeline or alternate dimension?

Bai Jiusi was amazing. So gentle, pitiful, and lovable. The way he kept asking, “Why do you hate me? Why do you want to kill me?” with that soft, wounded energy… even though he got hurt by her multiple times, he never once truly harmed her.

And those scenes where his spiritual core was damaged — he was like a child, so innocent and sweet. Absolutely adorable.

I understood Si Ling’s resentment, and I was okay with it up to a point. But once she found out that Bai Jiusi had been suffering and tortured the entire time, and she still didn’t let go and said that to him — she became really irritating. For a moment, she reminded me of Li Susu, just in Si Ling’s body.

Extreme love and extreme hate

Feud is a show that you have to bear with a little before you’re rewarded. Ultimately it is on the deeper, angstier side, with some philosophical tones and food for thought- I think that’s in line with this screenwriter (she’s actually the reason I watched it). But it takes some time for the layers to fall into place.

The beginning has a silly tone, complete with sound effects and funny expressions. The FL is total ditz for at least 5-6 episodes, kind of annoying but not the worst I’ve seen. Some great tragedy / misunderstanding in the past is constantly hinted at with little real information, leaving you sitting there with growing impatience wondering where it’s all going.

But it turns out that many of the things I at first thought were poor writing, plot holes, or just general inconsistencies, were actually not. Don’t get me wrong, there are some of those too. But many are actually clues. This show loves grand plot twist reveals; it also loves misdirections and confusing hints. So by halfway through, I’d been whacked so badly by plot twists that I found myself constantly and suspiciously guessing at secrets and hidden plans. It’s that kind of show.

The main plot is about the feud between the ML and FL, both resolving it in the present as well as unveiling its origins in the past. The feud is so intense that at first I thought the backstory couldn't possibly be worthy of it... but in the end, I think it is. It was bad enough to merit a lot of hate- maybe not THAT much, but debatable- and I could also see and understand how it happened. A little communication would have gone a long way, of course, but its lack here was not as outrageous as some other shows. I was satisfied with the uncovered motivation and story.

Even more, I understood both sides of the feud, and my sympathies shifted back and forth from one lead to the other. I tend to think this is a sign of good writing in setting up a meaningful and multi-dimensional conflict, involving relatable characters with sympathetic actions and emotions. And it's nice that the characters in the end are more self-aware than not, and that there are some other characters to speak the audiences’ mind.

In general, there’s a lot to unpack in this show, and some themes are carried well throughout- autonomy, karma, love and hate, etc- I’m tempted to go on about it here, but this is a review and not a critical analysis, so just know that some of the issues can get philosophical if you think about them more deeply.

Of course, a show that’s only about two people tragically broken apart by misunderstandings and unfortunate but unintended developments would probably be somewhat depressing and unsatisfying to watch. So I am glad that they came up with some final villain for them to fight together. Unfortunately, this villain is not that well constructed or explained. Their story and motivation are in line with the themes, but introduced late and kind of glossed over, especially as the show gets pretty rushed towards the end.

In fact, I waited what felt like the entire show for the two leads to make up and work together, but it kept not happening. The feud only seemed to get worse as my frustration grew. This is not the angstiest drama I’ve seen- there are some breathing breaks and even flashes of lightheartedness- but it did start to test my patience. When finally things start looking up, we are only left with a rushed last few episodes.

For better or worse, though, this probably makes the show more bingeable, because you blow through it trying to get to the part where you can finally relax.

Main villain aside, I do think the characters are generally well constructed. Like many shows that want to be deep, there aren’t that many characters to truly hate. I was ok with it here because the show and I tended to agree on how to feel. My favorite character is probably Ling’er, who has her head screwed on remarkably straight.

I also like that this show puts a spotlight on many kinds of love. The core relationship is definitely a romantic love, but many other kinds of love are shown to be just as important. I wish this weren't so uncommon.

On a less flattering note, this xianxia world is one of the more poorly constructed that I’ve seen. Some concepts or aspects of the immortals’ lives seem too lofty, others too mundane. The entire setup and world mechanics are poorly explained (and don’t get me started on that Empyrean)- I think it’s just something you have to overlook.

For the acting, I thought it’s exceptionally good. Both Bai Lu and Zeng Shunxi have some great, nuanced expressions that convey lots of different and complicated emotions. They are just as convincing for the many dramatic, emotional scenes. I also thought the second leads did a good job (Ling’er with her resigned smile!) as well as many of the side characters, like Zhao Yiqin playing three different personalities.

For other production stuff, the costumes and styling are pretty good. Bai Lu looks super pretty in this show. The CGI is sometimes not bad but, erm, mostly not that great. But for the most egregiously bad SFX, I think it was on purpose as a joke, hah. The music is alright but not really my favorite... it set the mood well enough, but I think the emotional scenes helped the music more than the music helped the scenes.

Overall, this is one of those deeper, more philosophical shows that I like. But it is more angsty than my normal preference, and it feels like a lot of the show is spent waiting for things to get better. It also has so many plot twists, clues, and misdirection, that I think by the second half when they’re mostly done with, people were disappointed by the lack of further intrigue. So it isn’t perfect, but I still liked it; it made me think and feel, even if it was somewhat emotionally taxing.

ENDING – READ AHEAD ONLY IF YOU WANT TO KNOW, CONTAINS SPOILERS

The ending is... happy? The main couple does end up alive and together, but we only get a flash of their reunion. I found it somewhat unsatisfying.

The second leads also survive, though with no romance between them. I was happy with this more realistic development and with Ling’er saving herself rather than some guy doing it for her. However, I did secretly wish she could find the love she wanted.

Many likeable side characters die in the episodes leading up to the end, which is rather sad. There is a time reversal artifact, but luckily they don’t use this cheap trick. The role it actually plays is somewhat confusing and subject to debate.

BTW, not sure if this counts as a spoiler, but I found the ML’s love brain to be super extreme, almost as frustrating as the FL’s hate brain. But somebody on reddit pointed out that she was the first thing he saw and so he imprinted on her; that made it make a lot more sense to me. As for the FL’s hate brain, I was rooting for her to let it go, but I don’t think anyone really has the right to judge. Hatred can really feed on itself. And feelings are feelings; whatever a person feels is valid, as my therapist once said.

Love that turns to hatred & a pestering wound that pains & they suffer in silence

Love how beautifully this drama was made & offcours Bai Lu's acting & emotion display perfevt as always her pair with the male Lead is so perfect! Fell in love with A'Yue & Bai Jiusi

The biggest and most heart wrenching part of this drama is that sometimes the heartbreak is so severe it renders you helpless even if you want to let go. And when you finally are ready the time has past. The drama isn't a reality you'll only get one single chance to let go of past heart wrnching soul breaking grudges if you want to grasp onto the same person who directly or indirectly might be a reason for that terrible pain. But when time heals and you can chose them. Chose them cus you might not get a second chance ever again.

Good enough to watch

Not particularly a fan of Xianxia dramas. I watched this because of Bai Lu. Can't say I liked it, but didn't dislike it either. The storytelling became messy halfway through. I lost count how many times they stabbed each other, killed each other, died and came alive again. You've gotta throw all logic when watching dramas like this where some characters can die so easily while others are just too hard to kill. Siling and Dazheng looked great together as a couple but I didn't feel any emotions or felt connected to them in any way. I would still recommend it to be watched but not the best drama out there for me.

The worst ending I have ever watched in cdramas

This was the first drama I watched with this ML, so I was struggling to warm up to him at first. It would probably have been easier if he were portraying another type of character, but since Bai Jiusi is very mysterious and very wtf in the first few episodes, it was a hard start for me. In the end, I warmed up to him, so it's cool (pun intended).

Bai Lu carries this entire drama on her back, full stop. If Si Ling were portrayed by someone else, I would probably have hated her. But the pain Bai Lu brings while bringing her to life is exactly what we need for Si Ling to make sense.

Now... Story-wise. It is a beautiful story. I love angsty plots, so it was exactly what I was expecting. However, when we get to the ending, it feels like the story I came to love just doesn't matter anymore. I understand Si Ling changing some events in the past would not overwrite everything (since the villain was her karma), but it erased the most important details that made Bai Jiusi and Si Ling who they were. It changes everything, and it changes nothing at the same time. It makes it possible for Bai Jiusi to come back to life (and whoa, the number of times we think he's dead and comes back is insane, so it stops being something new), but it erases all the growth they had as individuals. Not as a couple, as individuals.

It also brings up the question: what about their son? When she went back in time, she fixed the miscommunication arc about the sealing of her powers and being pregnant. So where is he now?? It's such an important part of their journey together, and then we receive zero closure (it wouldn't have needed a closure if she hadn't gone back in time - yeah, I really hated the ending).

The side characters were forgettable, except for Ming Xianqian, who was amazing, and I wish we had more screen time for him.

Argh. I don't even know how to rate this drama at this point.

A tangeled mess of somber love story that falls flat even in its glory

The story starts with ,welp, atrocious 10 episodes that are hard to sit through!! But if you get past them does it get better?? Yeah ,maybe?? Then again ,the last epi ruins it all.

In short ,if you like slow moving melo lovestory ,with constant misunderstandings you might want to give it a try. Or maybe you are just bai lu's or any other cast members fan,you may try it at your own expense.

For a bit of summary, the story startes with ling yue,our female lead , who finds that she is attached to heavenly god by some force ,but she doesn't know why and marry him just because he's handsome,or does she??

The heavenly god is lost in his 1st wife's memories and married her coz she resembles her,or does he??

If this intrigued you,go ahead and try watching,or you may skip it over for something better.

Starting with good, the acting was fine(apart from the fake cutsy acting in beginning),the music was good and drama genuinely had its good moments.

Now buckel up for the rant and spoiler!!!

They as a couple should not have existed ,period! They are supposed to be gods, but act soo childish, have to say I've seen better human couples than them 😭😭. She is more on the emotional side ,has empathy and sympathy for humans and he's cold and aloof as long as it doesn't include her. But she never trusts him ,neither gives her any understanding to humans and he keeps on watching her make the same mistake as ever again and again.
Also there are weird timelines that do not add up.
They both are really slow in understanding and communicating to say the least.
He keeps on telling her that he knows her identity, but she acts surprised that he knew it was her... Like girl??? Also she convinces herself that he won't take part in resurrection of the child hence goes forward with the ritual without telling him but blames him when he unknowingly stops her???? Excuse me??? If he's responsible for the child's death so are you!!! She's too self-righteous for no reason at all ,while he is here just to keep on being attacked by her!

Then their long trail of misunderstandings, that never seem to end.Even in parts that they are tender ,there was a lingering tension!
I won't comment on any other couple because everyone of these had their own problems, but then comes our main lead. You might wonder why I'm soo disappointed in them?Cos,they are supposed to be god themselves and yet are soo powerless, stupid and helpless in parts. They could have easily looked up what happened with the other while they were away from each other, but kept on hoping for answers from the other instead of finding themselves.

I sympathies with ml more than fl.She went through a lot, i understand, but it is no excuse for how unreasonable she became after the tragedy.

And then there comes the last epi.... It just undoes everything that was good in 2nd part of the drama. Like ,come on!!! Jisui needed to feel the pains that he felt in her illusion ,for him to understand mortals and even feel the love he felt for your child,u going back and telling him everything doesn't change anything!!! He would still not want the child because it would harm your spiritual energy!! Also about Li Mo and hongling's arc ,they both needed to learn from their past mistakes and pitifullness to be able to break their tribulations, but if you just show them the path then what does tribulations even mean for them!!

The last episode was disappointing, but still the 2nd half was better than the 1st. I probably won't recommend it to anyone, but it wasn't unwatchable either.

a very good feud

I was a bit scared to start this drama because of the title. Feud sounds like it will be an exhausting story, but it turned out to be a very strong story. In fact, this is one of the rare cases where I think the English title actually fits better than the original.

OST: The OST is haunting and beautiful. It really fits the tone of the drama

Story and writing: The storytelling is goood and the writing feels solid. What surprised me the most is that the miscommunication actually worked?!. Normally this trope pisses me off so bad. It was clear that something had been misunderstood between the characters, but it wasn’t presented in a way that made me frustrated. Instead it felt tragic and inevitable rather than stupid.

The ending: the ending is the only part that wasn’t really my style. It created a lot of ambiguity, i don’t hate it, but i’m not sure i fully understand it. It seemed like time changed again and reset to the very beginning, but i’m not completely sure what exactly happened. Earlier the time travel made sense when she went back a few hundred years to fix something. But at the very end it becomes more symbolic and harder to interpret? I get the symbolisms, but i need some logic.

Antagonists: one thing i liked is that the real antagonist behind the feud wasn’t someone i hated. He had purpose and layers and was even willing to admit things about himself. That made him more interesting than a typical villain. In comparison, Long Yuan was much more annoying to watch. His stubbornness and arrogance made him annoying rather than interesting, and his outfit honestly looked so silly that i couldn't take him seriously.

Romance: ahhhh the love–hate dynamic between Bai Jiusi and A’yue is really the heart of this drama. Their relationship is intense, painful, and full of complicated emotions. It reminded me a bit of Till the End of the Moon, but it feels lighter because both characters are fundamentally good people. Their stories in the mortal world was my favorite part. Especially the illusion one. she wants him to understand her pain, but she cannot fully recreate it because she still loves him.. and because their relationship is so powerful, some of the side stories feel weaker in comparison. Aside from the antagonist and characters from the mortal world, most of the other immortals and Cloud Sect characters didn’t interest me as much.

Final thoughts: what really made this drama worth watching for me was the chemistry between the leads. Sometimes they didn’t even need dialogue, the way Bai Jiusi and A’yue looked at each other said everything. Honestly, watching them interact alone was already enough reason to keep watching the drama.
