why are we running...?

i've decided to drop this series for now. i'm definitely open to returning to it some day, but at this moment, i can't see it being worth my time to watch 7 more episodes of this. it's way too fast paced, yet it seems to drag at the same time. it's repetitive, boring, and has no original qualities. emphasis on repetitive. why have i seen the same scene of them chasing each other like, 5 times now? this is getting really draining. the actors are cute, sure, but the characters don't have a whole lot going on as individuals. they're fun as an ensemble of friends but none of them stand out. maybe my hopes were just too high, but i feel as though i've been severely let down.

It’s a no for me

Don’t waste your time with this one
It’s terrible through and through
The acting is prolly the worst for Taiwanese bl
I get it the bar in already on the ground when it comes to bl but come on 😂
This was just painful to watch
4 episodes was the most I could do

This story is terrible
It’s not love
It’s a crime to even call it bl
If I had a friend like Atuo, id definitely end that friendship

Spoilers ‼️

I was shocked by the sa in the theatre bathroom, and the way Atuo had the audacity to excuse himself from any accountability claiming that’s what close friends do 🙄
I don’t think forcingly kissing and jerking your friend off is something that close friends do
You having a one sided crush on your friend who prolly thinks he’s straight doesn’t excuse your behavior

Jianxi seemed very uncomfortable during most of those scenes, as if he was just putting up with Atuo in order not to lose their friend ship
I dropped at ep 4, didn’t even finish that episode
The acting is terrible,
Don’t know who told the director tgat throwing kiss scenes every too seconds would save this show.
I get some people are horny and would eat up any bl, but it’s a no for me 👎

Growing up drama portraying a close friendship turned lovers.

ep 1 +2:
So far its good! I like the portrayal of 2 people growing up together and working through the changing dynamics of their relationship to something more.

The initial uncertainty of their relationship and the uncomfortable first reactions are acted really well and i am looking forward to see how this progresses. I am also getting some old school tharntype vides from the first few episodes where one of them is more forceful and the other is confused. As it progresses it remains cute and sweet, there is not much drama and its a relatively easy watch.

The story is on the simpler side compared to other dramas that aired at the same time as this, its also not as steamy as the advertising made it seem.

edit: dropped as the story is just so dull and non exciting.

not worth the watch

I was really excited to watch this series, especially because of the amazing off-screen chemistry between the leads, which had built up a lot of anticipation. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The storyline is practically nonexistent—most of the episodes revolve around the same repetitive cycle: the characters fight every two minutes, one storms off, the other chases after them, and then they reconcile without actually addressing or resolving any of their issues. After a while, it feels frustrating and exhausting to watch because nothing meaningful ever progresses.

On top of that, the character development is extremely poor. We never really get to understand their personalities, backgrounds, or motivations in a way that would make us connect with them emotionally. Instead of evolving or showing growth, the characters remain stuck in the same loop, which makes it hard to care about their journey.

Overall, the series feels like a wasted opportunity. With such a promising cast, it could have been engaging and impactful, but instead, it ends up being repetitive and shallow. Honestly, watching it feels like a complete waste of time.

BL - Just Friends, or More?

🏳️‍🌈If you’re looking for an emotional, heartfelt Taiwanese BL to binge in mid‑2025, ***Secret Lover* (秘密關係)** is worth checking out. Premiering on **July 22, 2025** simultaneously on GTV in Taiwan, GagaOOLala, iQIYI and Heavenly, it’s a campus romance that quickly has fans swooning ([YAOI LOVE][1]).
💯🏳️‍🌈🎥🎬

## 🎭 Story & Premise

Based on the Japanese manga *Itte Owari na Wake ga Nai!* by KOMEOKA SIG, *Secret Lover* follows childhood friends **Han Tuo** (Chance Ying) and **Lu Jun‑xi** (Wang Jyun‑hao) as they join their university play. Under the pretense of “relationship training,” Han Tuo suggests pretend dating and fake kissing—only to have boundaries blur into genuine romantic feelings. As Jun‑xi begins to question whether it was ever just play, their friendship becomes something deeper and more passionate ([GagaOOLala][2]).
🎥🎬

## 🎬 Cast & Characters

* **Han Tuo (Chance Ying)** brings playful confidence and emotional sincerity to the role, gradually shifting from prankster to open-hearted lover.
* **Lu Jun‑xi (Wang Jyun‑hao)** transitions from shy and reserved to visibly conflicted and then genuinely moved by Tuo’s advances.
* Supporting cast (including Justin Chang as Lu Yu‑shu and Tiffany Lin as Lin Xiao‑yang) enriches the campus setting and the couple’s social world ([DramaWiki][3]).
🎥🎬

## ✔️ Highlights & Strengths

1. **Charmingly Sweet Slow-Burn**
The “fake dating” trope here never feels overdone. The gradual shift from playful challenges to sincere affection gives both leads breathing room to grow emotionally.

2. **Manga‑Rooted Emotional Foundation**
The series stays emotionally faithful to its source, transforming internal tension and longing into slow-creep intimacy and believable chemistry ([The Movie Database][4], [iQIYI][5]).

3. **Setting and Production**
A campus aesthetic, rehearsals for the play, and warm lighting give the show a cozy, realistic flavor. Scenes often lean on subtle gestures—glances, brush‑touches—to convey depth.
🎥🎬

## 🎞 Early Episodes Reception

The first two episodes (released July 22 and 29, 2025) have already earned praise on IMDb—with ratings around **8.6/10** for episode 1 and **8.3/10** for episode 2—averaging a solid **9.3/10** overall for season one so far ([IMDb][6]). Viewers highlight the chemistry between the leads and the gentle pacing as standout elements.
🎥🎬

## ⚖️ Strengths & Pitfalls
Honestly, i couldn’t find anything wrong with the series so far.
But others have stated the following:

|What Works Could Be Improved

| Natural chemistry between leads | Some clichés in supporting arcs |
| Emotional honesty and soft realism | Secondary relationships feel thin |
| Adaptation faithfully reflects manga | Slight predictability in early tropes |
🎥🎬

## ✅ Final Verdict

Whether you're team *friends-to-lovers* or just adore quiet emotional-builds, ***Secret Lover*** delivers. It’s an earnest, low-drama romance that prioritizes emotional authenticity and character depth. Fans of sweet tension and heartfelt confession will likely fall hard for Tuo and Jun‑xi’s journey.

Hes so rar been a straight guy, he has a girl hes interested in. Thats why all this took him by surpise. Atou is acting like everything is Junxis fault.

Fast and Secret Lover…

Gostei bastante.

PONTOS POSITIVOS:

- Han Tuo é um personagem cheio de camadas;
- Tudo acontece muito rápido mas aqui faz sentido, essa rapidez é essencial para os problemas e desenvolvimento que vem a seguir;
- O ciúmes que o Han Tuo sente do Lu Jun Xi é muito plausível dentro do personagem e essas cenas deram um toque muito gostoso pra história (eu adoro uma boa cena de ciúmes);
- O trio de amigos é muito legal de acompanhar;
- Quase todo episódio tinha alguém correndo kkkk foi divertido;
- O pobre do Han Tuo tendo que dividir o Lu Jun Xi com a criança por 1 dia quase o matou, o Lu Jun Xi devia ter administrado melhor a atenção dele kkkkkk;
- Eles tem muita química e a diferença de altura é a cereja do bolo (menção honrosa a cena do banheiro no primeiro episódio que veio do nada e emocionou);
- O Han Tuo trabalhou muito duro durante anos para manter o Lu Jun Xi só pra ele e eu respeito isso, esse é um homem que sabe o que quer;

PONTOS NEGATIVOS:

- Algumas cenas poderiam ser um pouquinho mais longas para desenvolver melhor os diálogos e situações;
- As cenas deles crianças poderiam ocupar menos tempo de tela, nós já havíamos entendido a essência da relação deles e esse tempo poderia ter sido utilizado em outras coisas;
- Alguns cortes pareciam muito bruscos;

10/10 The Perfect Love Story

Sooo, with a bit delay, since my attention jumps all over I finally binged the second half today. Phew.
It was a strange start, I have to admit. It wasn't a series that caught me from the get go, I assume that is why I went away without deciding it so. Probably also because some big famous shows drew my attention away, and then I forgot about it. So this wasn't a love a first sight for me. Not for any negatives, but where other shows were loud and shiny, this seemed a bit too calm and flowing silently beside me.
Now having gone back, I must say the show really grew on me a lot, so much that I would even say, it is an almost perfect Love Story! There is not too much other stuff weighing in down like Revenged Love with its many layers and sub-stories, SECRET LOVER was a pure love story. I really appreciated that they did not take the all too samey looking MC actors. Both stood out memorable, when many Thai and Korean BL series tend a bit to same-cast these days.
I really liked that it did not play into any seme-uke or big guy
- small guy stereotypes, but each MC was a well rounded character in himself. The childhood flashbacks were a bit too much for my taste, but bearable. I really liked how they developed along with the other characters, all how had a good presence and chemistry in the cast. Especially the last three episodes made it skyrocket in my view thinking like, yes this feels like the Perfect Love Story to me. Drama, misunderstandings, love - but neither overplayed nor with any silly instant solutions, all went very organically together to a very happy ending.
Also the scenes between the MC were believable, touching and convincing and more realistic than many other BL stories. It is a show I am sure to remember and rewatch. As such, with all things good to me, I give it a
