This Drama Had Potential But Missed the Mark

So... I want to start by saying that my issue isn't really with the character played by Park Seo-ham. I actually like him a lot as an actor and he was honestly the main reason I started watching Our Universe in the first place.

That being said, the real problem for me is the way the story arc is developing. The more episodes I watched, the more frustrating it became, and at some point it also just started feeling boring. Another thing that really made the experience worse for me is the FL’s storyline. Her decisions, and the way the story keeps going in circles around the same emotional beats, have become frustrating. Instead of moving the plot forward in an interesting way, it feels like the drama just keeps dragging things out.

What disappoints me the most, though, is the direction the writers chose for the plot. Instead of focusing on the incredibly heavy and meaningful situation the characters are actually in, the drama keeps pushing the love triangle, and that’s honestly the least interesting part of the story. These characters suddenly have to deal with grief after losing people close to them, and at the same time they basically become parents overnight to a very young child who just lost their own parents. That’s such a powerful and emotional premise. Watching two people trying to navigate grief, responsibility, and learning how to become a mother and father for a child in completely new circumstances could have been incredibly deep and meaningful storytelling.
Instead, the drama seems much more interested in dragging out the love triangle and giving the SML a huge amount of screen time. Tbh, it almost feels like he has more presence in the story than the actual ML, which makes the whole thing feel… unbalanced, for lack of a better word.

The story would honestly make much more sense at this point to me if the FL and the SML ended up together and there was no romantic connection between the main ML and the FL at all or maybe the SML could have just been a close friend with FL... someone whose presence triggers a bit of jealousy in ML and helps him realize his feelings for the FL. (Yes, it’s cliché, I know, but honestly it would still be better than what we have right now) instead of forcing a love triangle that takes away from the much more interesting emotional core of the story.

I really do like Park Seo-ham and I wanted to keep watching for him but the way the story is unfolding just isn’t working for me. At this point it feels more frustrating than enjoyable, so unfortunately I think I’m going to drop this drama.

I am done ?

I am done with this drama. How good the start and the main theme was. But they just ruined with love triangle. I wanted to drop this after ep 5 but can not because of ML and the child. They are the only positive thing in the whole drama. The FL and SML are the biggest annoying, red flag and shit that i can not keep watching this. I will miss the ML and the child bonding and chemistry.

I have watched Our Universe up to episode 9, and I have many complaints. Why is the story focusing more on the second lead than on the female lead? Now only four episodes remain, and the female lead and the second lead go on a date in almost every episode.

There is another problem as well. Why is the male lead shown focusing more on raising the child, while the female lead sometimes comes home late at night and spends time with the second lead? I feel the story is becoming unbalanced and not giving enough importance to the main male character.it is getting frustrating with every episode still they are focusing on love triangle and only 3 episode remains 🤬. ep10 is little bit satisfying thank god.

WASTE OF TIME

If you’re expecting a cute baby and a meaningful exploration of two adults navigating parenting and domestic life, this drama may disappoint you. While the first two episodes showed strong potential, the story gradually shifted into a love triangle that feels unnecessary. The second male lead doesn’t seem to add much depth to the plot. With only a few episodes left, there has been little development in the main couple’s relationship, which makes their potential endgame feel unconvincing. It’s frustrating because the original premise had so much promise. Waste of time.

Wasn’t This Supposed to Be a Co-Parenting Drama?

My rant about this drama (Spoilers ahead — read at your own risk).

Honestly, I liked this drama from episodes 1 to 5, but after that it went downhill for me. I started feeling like the drama wasn’t really about co-parenting or about U Ju and how his uncle Tae Hyeong and aunt Hyeon Jin raise him after their older brother and sister pass away. Instead, it felt more like a story about the second male lead, Yun Seong, trying to win back his first love, Hyeon Jin.
The love triangle started around episode 5. At first it wasn’t that bad — I could tolerate that much — but it kept dragging on until episode 10. Half of the episodes felt like they were centered around Yun Seong. At times it even felt like he was the male lead. I’ve never disliked a second male lead this much — not even the red-flag ones. I actually started hating seeing his face on screen, and now I don’t think I’ll be able to watch any drama where he’s the SML or even the ML.
His constant meddling and forcing his presence into their family matters made me even more annoyed. Now I understand why I stopped watching Korean romcoms. The writer really did a great job of making me want to avoid this genre in the future.
Also, the guardianship storyline in the last episode should have happened in the middle of the drama — maybe around episodes 7 or 8 — but instead they decided to put it in the final episode.”

Favorite Scene
In the last episode when everyone was preparing for U Ju’s 2nd birthday party. I loved how everyone came together to celebrate his birthday. I also liked the flashbacks of Tae Hyeong and Hyeon Jin’s older brother and sister. And the quote at the end was really touching.

I loved this drama! It left me with the same feeling Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha did, meaning that by the time it was over, I missed the entire village. In this case, I am going to miss this family and all of their neighbors, friends, and even their co-workers. Definitely worth a watch if you love shows with a large cast.

IMHO ignore the negative reviews - it's fun

I'll admit it took me a few episodes to get into this series and I was not sure how it would turn out. But I stuck with it and it got better and better. The story became more engaging and, interestingly, I think the acting got better as they all got rolling. It is a cute story. The little kid is super cute. And the FL and ML were a very cute couple. As far as the FL not doing a great job (some folks put that very rudely), I think she did just find, especially, as I noted, later in the series.

The leads turned out to be one of my favorite KDrama couples, even if the story was not amongst the best.

Just don't expect a masterpiece, but take the time to watch. It's fun.

Warm and fuzzy

Honestly I'm leaving a review to counteract some of the awful ones that have already been given. This was a delightful Sweet slice of Life series. The male lead and the female lead developed in their relationship as mature adults and caregivers and also developed a slow burn romance. It was heartwarming to see the development of an unconventional family. I thought both the male lead and the female lead were excellent, but the baby absolutely stole the spotlight!

Annoying FL ruined the Drama

The writers really ruined this series. I don't know what they wanted to portray or what kind of story flow they were going for. The plot just revolves around the second lead having a romantic storyline with the female lead. They should’ve focused more on woojoo – he’s the main character after all. That’s why the title is 'our universe'. The storyline should have been how both the young uncle and aunt manage this sudden parenthood, all the struggle, how both balance their work and home. The only one who is balancing both is the uncle, taking Woo-Joo to his workplace, faced issues because of that, sometimes sacrificing his opportunity for WooJoo, he even has character development, and developed chemistry with Woo Joo. Meanwhile the aunt is just having her own office romance drama( which has no connection with Woojoo)🤦‍♀️
Really not loving this. Everyone is watching this drama for the baby not for the annoying FL.
