god this was such a well written story. i think i cried almost every week because i really went through those days of hell with chiyo. definitely my favorite that i managed to finish!!!! and it's such a love letter not only to acting but scriptwriting as well :') will definitely keep an eye out for this writer's upcoming projects

im convinced korea could make the worst series to ever exist and mdl would still rate it 8+. this was so generic and lazy. the plot played out exactly like 347459854 other emergency service dramas out there i wonder why i even bothered with this one. not to mention the casual normalization of korean's military presence in another country but hey since we're here to protect ~world peace~ it's all fine!

my first akai series. the leads started off so strong i really thought i found my favorite couple but then they broke up like a million times and by the end of the drama i was so over it. it was DRAINING to watch the character assassination of tomoko </3 wdym the permission to get married became a prize by the end this is so... i kinda had an idea of how cheesy and overdramatic showa dramas could get but this really tested my patience.

i swear these kids are psychotic............ flirting via spotify playlists, stalking through tiktoks, breaking up on IG, announcing relationship on facebook, apologizing on IG, CONFESSING ON ZOOM CALL..... and the amount of emotional breakdowns in one episode. they need to be admitted to the nearest hospital asap this isnt normal. teh ur no longer the most insane teenager anymore these 4 definitely stole your spot </3

that being said. the mess was very entertaining i enjoyed every second :x :x

eps 1 - 6: poetic cinema. some fake looking scenes here and there but overall very well made

eps 7 - 10: snoozefest. i don't care about any of the kids

eps 11-14: slightly better but still a far cry from the first 6 eps

ep 15: perfection again :x they really should have dragged out that arc of them opening a new restaurant a little longer

my younger self dropped this after the first few eps because the idea of rangers being from the same family didn't really appeal to me. now i have rewatched (and completed) this as an adult, it definitely hit different! magiranger was a good series, not one of the best, but very consistent! it really picked up after hikaru was introduced mwuah!!!! one of my favorite characters ever

what an incredible journey this was!!!! one of the best asadoras to watch for people who aren't familiar with the genre. it encapsulates everything i usually look for in a series: found family/people helping each other/weekly topic/female protagonist making decisions for her own life/beautiful scenery

the only thing they fumbled a bit was sakura's and keisuke's love story toward the end of the series. if it were up to me, i would have everything after the part robbie went to japan rewritten. it was a bit messy

can't believe i actually completed this. this felt like it went on forever i was bored out of my mind. the only arcs i liked was:

- clothing material shop in tokyo

- saga arc (even though the mother in law and that one woman oshin befriended while in saga drove me insane every day. in hindsight this was probably the best arc in this show sigh)

- restaurant

- fish stall

everything else was a complete SNOOZE FEST

i guess it was okay for gmmtv's first attempt at a full length period bl, and it didn't have the comedic tactics usually found in their shows so that was nice. but it was still so boring. inn cant act and doesnt look like a person from the past. dont care for the side couple.
