Korean SOL Dramas/Films

One of the best kdramas ever, a 1000/10 for me. Highly recommended.

My first Korean slice of life show (not counting WFKBJ as 1st as it is more of a romcom youth show with SOL elements) and I loved it. People say that this is more of a romance slice of life, but I'd say that it is full of the family and friends sol moments that reply is so well known for.

Also, the FL being a maniac fangirl is one reason why I couldn't give it full score, another reason being that the romantic line is not really a favourite. I shipped ML with someone else and it felt that the SML liking her was completely unnecessary. But apart from these reasons, it is really a lovable show.

This installment was actually as good as the first, and it had moments where it outshines 1997. Do not be blinded by the love triangle warriors. Reply is a show that goes beyond those petty and childish 'who gets the girl' fights. A true SOL fan will love it just like me.

Why not 10/10? Because at start it felt like it was too much like the first reply. A homage is fine, Easter Eggs are lovely, but if the same story is largely copy-pasted with little changes it makes one drained. Thankfully, it gets on its own track a few eps later. However, much like 97, this had that maniac fangirl FL and she was given more annoying traits that I could not really like her. Certain comments by her on other women, their bodies and character were infuriating. Apart from all of that, a very good show and I'd say a little better than 97

more of a youth romcom, but feels more realistic compared to other romcoms. This show was my 2nd kdrama and I loved it. The romance was my type. I loved the ML being an imperfect young man that was playful and friendly in a sea of 'perfect' cold MLs popular back during it's release.

Watching it rn and it feels like another 1000/10 is incoming

Currently watching. Hoping for this one to be 10/10 and not have the unlikable elements other reply installments had that prevented me from giving a full score.

It seems like this was imitating a popular and well rated jdrama and never has Korea outdone Japan even with official remakes. Let's see however. Watching the Japanese original currently and it is very good.

IDK why, this one gives a little makjang vibe and I would really dislike if it turned out to be one, given the promise of a realistic female centric show.

This has thriller elements and I have no idea if it's well done with the slice of life and romance elements in it or not. I have not yet seen a good kdrama that blended genres.

Not a good show if you expect it to be a well rounded slice of life. It has bickering for the sake of it (why do they even start on a bad foot is beyond me), rude ML with no social awareness, annoying villagers, FL hates the city and also the village, and a lot of things I wouldn't want to see in a SOL healing drama. If you do want to see a great SOL healing show with village life and calm feel, I'd suggest Meet Yourself

Again, a bad healing SOL drama. Annoying villagers, stupid character actions and above all, betrayal of tone. After a certain episode, this turns into a melodramatic thriller with crime. Korean dramas and their inclusion of thriller in every not supposed to be thriller shows.
