How do we watch it with the .SRT file? I assume we need to have the video downloaded locally first for the subtitle to work?

Season 4 is basically 2 additional stories that didn't get into season 3. They were filmed at the same time.

I sometimes am pissed how unappreciative the imperial family is, SWM, LLF, and their gang saved their lives so many times but it's often paid with disrespect and suspicion instead. Especially by the crown prince/emperor.

I love that in season 3, grand princess shows appreciation to Dr Fei and gave him the chicken medal 😄

Indeed I was also mad when seeing LLF flares up sometimes.

But drama execution wise, I'm glad the drama throws this bit in as it shows how hard it is for people to change their trait. So it is very believable and consistent that LLF is like this.

Oh and in such situation, SWM will also be yelling at Chicken Fed (Dr. Fei) to think of a solution! 😂 find the enemy's weakness (usually when LLF is fighting with a beast). It is so funny and on brand to me.

I just rewatched S3 and scrolled the comments (because I'm bored and missing Strange Tales).

I rewinded on this case. Su Wuming did mention that old Coroner Geng killed himself so Yin Yao stopped murdering (if he is dead there is nobody to borrow age for).

Another possible reason is maybe because his sores were also getting worse. Medicating self with poison must take its toll at some point.

I also love the Hall of Life case. It is quite unique in the sense that Lu Lingfeng solved this case by himself, without Su Wuming.

I watched The Legend of Condor Heroes. There are multiple remakes. I watched the 1983 version with Barbara Yung as Huang Yaoshi's daughter. She is the main female role in the drama.

These series (The Legend of Condor Heroes and Return of Condor Heroes) were quite popular and aired in our TV channels back then.

I feel what's interesting about Li Lianhua is that his character is layered. To me, he doesn't disregard his life 🤔 he just wants to live it on his own terms, not everybody else's. He just wants to sort his past matters and is so ready to move on.

Also scratching my head a bit about how he could survive the stab, explosion, etc. Originally VoA had 32 episodes but then was cut and made into 28 eps only. I wonder if the drama did detail these plots but they got cut out.

Yep. I said to myself at least Wang Pu didn't humiliate him in the killing 😭 (considering the atrocity Wang Pu did previously to Baiwenhu soldiers). It seems like Wang Pu as a strategist respected Han Ziling as a brilliant scholar and opponent.

I would like to ask about ep 23-26: the poet reunion story.

It is said that Ruan Daxiong 'arranged' for Nujiao to meet with Leng Ji. But at the time Nujiao was an assassin hired to kill him. How was he sure somebody would stop her from killing him?

Did he already know that Lu Lingfeng and Su Wuming both Di Renjie's disciples being owners of the shushan shop when his restaurant made the sushan order? Otherwise they won't be in place to stop the assasination right?

I guess I'm just wondering why the elaborate plot just to make the ex-lovers meet? 🤔 is it just because Ruan Daxiong's jovial nature, that he is not overthinking stuff? 🙈

I don't think it's the emperor. I previously thought it must have been Yang Fenshang due to the Mt Shilouman being mentioned; but after rewatching, seems like not YFS either.

This seems like an entirely different person instructing Cai Pickles. Most likely an opening to season 2.

I think he has known for some time since season 1.

I just checked, in season 1 ep 33, when he met with the grand princess on top of the pagoda, I feel like he already knew by this point.

He just felt conflicted (and didn't want to think about his birth mom) because grand princess did Lu family's dirty.

I hope police brings justice to this harrasment case and put this over-confident criminal in prison!! 🤨😤

I observe the similarity is that LLH and XHA are both super intelligent but they choose very different paths.

XHA almost always has murderous look on his face, while LLH exudes ease and detachment, minding his own business, and love for freedom.

This case reminds me of a classic murder mystery where detective, witnesses and suspects are all gathered in one room/establishment. I appreciate this aspect, I think it is fun!

It is pretty good in keeping the continuity and tension as expected of Strange Tales series. Many times I caught myself muttering 'Uh oh, what are you gonna do now without Lu Lingfeng or Yingtao coming to save youuu, Su Wuming??' 🤣

Some of the plot are a bit 'cliche'/pushing it though.
- How the exact same replica of the 9 tier tower can be erected underground within 2 years. How does child Han Tang remember exactly how the tower was like, including interior and exterior.
- Twin trope is used repetitively, both for sons and mothers.
- How could Yuan forget there is an aligator in the pool behind where he sits.

Overall still a good watch! I will always enjoy watching Su Wuming (and the gang) solving cases

I love Yingtao and Su Wuming's chemistry in season 3 💕 Yingtao is so expressive and territorial with Su Wuming lol.

Seems like in season 3, the romance aspect between our main couples is turned up just slightly. Xijun and Lu Lingfeng spent more times together too. But as the usual with Strange Tales of Tang, romance is never over the top, so it is just right for us who love detective genre with tons of friendship, integrity, and just slight cute romance 🥰
