I think LCZ might somehow be related to prince Liang and the emperor (from ep 32, minute 12:20). They both also call LCZ by name basis, not "Mr. Li", or smth. Hence the emperor feels threatened by LCZ (I think this was mentioned also in the later episode but forgot by whom).

IMO, LCZ takes the poison anyway because he thinks dining with the emperor is the only chance he could talk some sense into the emperor. But, alas...

As for wise emperor in historical drama, yeah it's quite rare. Just as reference only, emperor in Sleuths of Ming Dynasty is quite sane.

I think Mingming died in hospital also because:
- a doctor was rushing running towards his room (implying an emergency)
- XQS was shown walking alone further away into the light
- Yi nan also died in hospital (because Kaiyan was defeated in the wuxia world)

So all three Cheng Yi characters died 😅🥲 and now feeling kinda depressed after finished watching ep 40 at 3am 🥲🌃

Also about to ask the same question... in ep 32 (minute 12:20) Prince Liang caught up to Chenzou after visiting the emperor, stating that LCZ had long left the court and roamed jianghu (which Prince Liang was envious of). This gave me impression that LCZ is Prince Liang's and Emperor's brother.

And in episode(s) after that it is stated that the emperor felt threatened by LCZ (maybe because they are brothers?) That's probably why the emperor wanted to weaken LCZ. LCZ knew but kept taking the poisoned wine anyway because that's the only chance to talk some sense to his emperor (brother, perhaps)

Yes my heart aches for LCZ and Shirong. For Xiao Xueyu too. And for Tang Fang because how heartbroken she must be 😭

In the novel, Zijin is shocked that LXY/LLH could actually be really dying. He thought LXY is a force that will never dim and can take all the beatings from Zijin's rivalry. To him, LXY is like a stronger sibling to defeat.
(I guess this bit did not get into his character in the drama).

No wonder LLH is tired 😅 people just look at him like a shining star/sun. People keep expecting a lot from him, even his closest ones.

I love seeing Tang Fang kicking Tang Song's ass. And apparently she's won fights 5 times in a row (not sure whether the first four fights were also against Tang Song too, or his family branch) She is so badass.

I know he is the utmost annoying as Yiren in the drama, but I just watched the "IQiyi office attendance day" clip with the three brothers, and I'm surprised to see the actor is actually quite charming 😆🙈

I also think LSF deserves no redemption. But regarding Song Mingzhu, I think it's her own fault, can't really blame LFS... Girl is delusional, she should be able to tell that LFS clearly doesn't care about her but she is flying high in imaginary cloud of love.

I wonder if the death beetle plot is in Fushanhai 1970's novel also? Or is it something that's added by screenwriter?

This bug controlling people plot is similar to MLC's Nanyin bug that controls people as well.

I love Jiao Liqiao too even though she is obviously a tad insane 😆

Song Mingzhu seems like she is purely an order taker, and can still be wavered by XQS. Meanwhile Jiao Liqiao is more unhinged and more scheming/strategic as a leader (she grew Jianyuan alliance by herself for 10 years). And her obsession towards DFS is unparalled 😂

Hopefully she only fainted and not die 😆

It seems like this wuxia is just the kind that is angsty back to back. I still think CY is a great actor but this angsty wuxia genre is probably not gonna fit everyone's taste. I find myself skipping/fast forwarding the episodes starting ep 13 because I hate feeling miserable non-stop 😅🙈

Yeah unfortunately there is lacking explanation about the AI system. Not sure what a glimpse of 'restart' option in ep 15.

I don't think he 'restarted' 🤔 as it usually implies the game plot should also restart. His case is more like 'respawn' maybe 🤔 I wish they fleshed out more how XQS came back to life.

One possibility is that he didn't really die but just only dying when he was put into the coffin, as the guard guy said to TF '...his body is still warm...'

Yeah, LSF doesn't deserve a redemption arc. He is evil and shows no glimpse of remorse. He needs to pay for his crimes.
