In the book, they did reunite, sort of. The last chapter ended with both FDB and DFS visiting him at the same time.
FDB pays for his living arrangement. DFS plays chess with him. In the novel, Shi Wenjue is also LLH's close friend, he visits often too.
You have to read this part yourself, but I think LLH pretends he forgot who FDB is. It's just because FDB gets mad and upset at his condition π I think his endless rant and lament annoys LLH. And LLH knows just how to push FDB's buttons π
LLH still plays chess happily with DFS and can remember hundreds step chess moves (which makes me think he is still intelligent). LLH is still fluid in conversation (shown from the 180Β° difference between his interaction with FDB and DFS).
So the open ending part is whether LLH has completely lost it or not. We have to kinda read it in between the lines. He is definitely still intelligent and happy (literal text in the chapter said so). But we dont know if this is him being his normal sly fox self, or like the case with diminishing older people - they go back to their childlike manner.
Yeah in the novel, his condition deteriorated but still living good life. He finally got to do all he wanted to do, lives by the ocean, goes fishing, plays chess, etc.
I think the writer even hinted that he still has his intelligence π do find the mandarin novel online and translates the last chapter (I translated per paragraph using google trasnslate)
Any suggestion where I can watch this? I do not subscribe to iQIYI but I see it is highly rated.
You can try watching it in Mewatch app, but it needs singapore vpn to watch it. I checked it just now and it's still available there. It is free there but has lots of ads.
Not a happy ending, unless youβre delulu and you really really need it to be happy. It has the ending we all…
Yeah, i'm not even a hopeful person, more skeptical if anything. But there are ample hints that he is alive in the special ep (we discuss it in forum/FAQ above) - and this is all from the drama alone. If we back it up with the novel ending, it's an even stronger case that it is happy ending. Though it is not our version of happy end, it is LLH's version of it :)

Just finished it today and I'm so glad to pick this one up after putting it on hold for a while. It's truly a…
What's interesting about his character is that there could be so much to discuss. There is an in-depth discussion about Li Lianhua in reddit if you're interested :)
To me, it's not that he is selfless ππ€ he helped people he cared about from his past life. He doesn't give yangzhouman to random people; DFS is always a competition he always admired, FDB is his beloved brother's son, QWM is his past love, Yun Biqiu is also his past comrade (whom he needs to straighten out things with).
He is only settling matters from his past, or issues that he thought he caused. After that he just wants to go back living life the way he wants it (which is peaceful and alone in retirement). LLH is still as stubborn as LXY, he chooses the path that he wants (not what everyone else wants out of him) πͺ·
Look, I understand your disappointment, but let's not harrass the screenwriter. We don't really know what's going on in the backstage or during production. And anywho she still delivers great scripts. We should be respectful fans.
Can I know why ppl are hating on Liu Meng Rui and Xu Zhen Xuan?
I'd say just ignore that kind of topic or block the haters.. I am a CY fan myself but never feel the need to put down other actors/actresses π I love Liu Mengrui from her role as princess in MLC. Xu Zhenxuan is great too in this drama (and handsome too π)
I enjoyed the drama for what it was. One of my criticisms of it was to many characters died. And I wasn't really…
I enjoy the second half of the drama, but it does feel so rushed in the end.
I mean, the first part of the drama (ep 1-17) is kinda dragging.. π€ like the Xiaos and friends dining and celebrating chivalry in the first night of sword manor siege? Or how long it took for Xiao brothers to come back to sword manor. I get it that they were trying to get other sects to help, but still.
So it feels like the plot isn't evened out throughout the 40 episodes. Like the first half is taking its time, and second half feels so rushing.
After I finished ep 40, I still leave with positive feelings though towards the drama. I could appreciate the sad/open ending as well. It's just that too many characters suddenly dropping dead in the last 5 episodes (feels a bit forced). But all in all, still a good watch!
Ignore whatever i said . ΒΏ It is not supposed to " Afterwards, Xiao Ming Ming continues writing in his spare…
Yeah this is just my theory but the description is like that because previously the script did keep XMM alive in the end.
But I heard post review, they cut out some scenes and perhaps altered the ending to the current one.
Maybe the film makers tried to make the wuxia world to feel more real/ have more serious impact to real life (hence dying in the wuxia world equals to dying in real life). And since XQS dies in the novel, XMM fate is changed to be dead too. Just my thought though.
The story, fighting scenes and style are awesome. I love seeing the actors and actresses without too much aesthetics as well.
It is just a little saddening for me because I got a glimpse of purity and friendship between Ouyang Feng and Huang Yaoshi. But we know these guys eventually turn against each other π₯² Ouyang Feng particularly would have 180Β° shift of character π₯Ί
Itβs literally choose, which ever ending you want. Some people see the real character was in a coma and then…
In the first episode, we see him got into the wuxia world because of a system bug. But where in the chronological order is this event in? Because we see later on scenes where he fought with Li Nan about the latter stealing state secrets, then they both fell unconscious, and there was electricity/short circuit messing up the AI system. When in the timeline did these two events happened?
Question. So which one is the reality or what is the order of events in the modern life? He fought with Li Nan and both got electrocuted/unconscious and then got into hospital right?
How about the scene where he uploaded his script to magic interactive AI system? Was that just his dream because he's in a comma?
so this was a lie ? Synopsis " . Afterwards, Xiao Ming Ming continues writing in his spare time, using his…
Yeah what is that summary.. we feel like it's a bait now π or maybe there will be a special episode? Ep 41 maybe, like the usual 5 min duration? Maybe XMM comes back to life in the special ep π π I wish.. idk man
