I have a questionDoes the 2 male leads get fair chance or 2nd ML has to suffer?
If we're basing this on the webtoon alone, the 2nd ML doesn't suffer much because his main story in high school isn't his crush on Jugyeong but rather rebuilding his friendship with Suho. Then (MORE SPOILERS) when they leave high school and have a 3 year time jump, he dates Jugyeong until they break up so he can debut as an idol. So honestly, the one suffering more both in high school and in the time jump is Suho, first because of his depression and broken friendship with Seojun, and then later because Seojun is dating Jugyeong.
Jeez the webtoon was bad but somehow its now got a drama based on it ffs this industry
To be fair, good or bad is qualitative while "#1 romance webtoon in multiple countries" is quantitative, so of course the drama industry is going to go with that. And looking at the number of watchers and comments on MDL alone before it airs, they're probably smart to adapt it.
The 4 minute trailer really got me in my feels. I'm glad they'll be dealing with Jugyeong's insecurities in a serious way - not just slapstick - and I love how they intertwined it with Suho's own painful past: https://youtu.be/5JAupdHIcqg
I wish we got to see more of Park Yoo Na in the teasers :( I wonder if that means she has a small role or they…
I know, I was hoping for more too! But based on the poster shooting and behind the scenes video they released, it looks like she and Jugyeong are actively friends along with Sooah. So I think she'll at least have a decent secondary role.
I see people suggesting that the ending is a dream or a ghost, but that doesn't make it better for me. "Dream" or "ghost" Jun specifically declares he's not one and that he just wanted to wait until he recovered. Therefore, the drama ends with the idea of Rara believing her own delusions instead of thanking Jun for visiting and then moving forward. That's even more depressing to me than the already sinister and incoherent idea that he let an entire town of loved ones think he was dead for 5 years.
It's a cable channel ! So the ratings are not as high as KBS or SBS. 3% is already a good number for Tvn. It's…
I actually meant the rating on MDL, lol. It was at like 8.2 when I commented, and I was like "this is one of the best shows airing right now, hello????"
For those who want a peak at cast chemistry and dynamics before the show starts, here's the first behind-the-scenes for the show: https://youtu.be/dkuPcwxXW-0
Is this really worth watching. Hearing mixed reviews about it
I just binged it and had so much fun! I think as long as you don't question the logic of the world too much, you'll easily fall in love with the characters and with the lead couple's chemistry. If you're looking for a story with a lot of substance or deep themes, then you won't find it here. But if you just want romance, giggles, and some tropes turned on their heads? Go right ahead!
I'm so confused by the low(er) rating on this show. It's such a gem! They handle the tonal shifts so well, and every mom has relatable issues without demonizing anyone.
I think I've read the manga in the past, but it was so cheesy and cliche that I just can't imagine it in a drama…
I really enjoyed MIIGB and his role in it to the point that I checked out his other dramas and Astro. I don't think I am one easily swayed by faces, honestly, and I am able to passively enjoy them without becoming invested in the person if there's nothing else going on. You may not like his acting, which is well within your right, but I don't think you know a thing about "most" people's reasons for enjoying his work.
I like eunwoo but his acting a little bit disappointed from his drama before..hope this one is getting better
It's been over a year since his last role ended, so he very well may have brushed up. That being said, he has taken acting classes and even went to school for acting so... hopefully you like the results more this time :}
I adore Moon Gayoung and I think she will slay the role, but I hope the makeup/styling in the teaser is more for…
Anyway, that was a lot of me babbling because I totally see and understand the concerns that some potential viewers have, but I am hoping the show will still find ways of being surprising - especially since it's the director of Extraordinary You.
I adore Moon Gayoung and I think she will slay the role, but I hope the makeup/styling in the teaser is more for the comedic effect and webtoon "sync" than an actual representation of how she'll look in the series. I never expected them to cast a less than stereotypically beautiful actress, so I'm not upset about that, but I do hope the show takes the opportunity to challenge beauty standards. One of the reasons I loved MIIGB was that it A) never showed the young "ugly" girl's face, B) showed how a larger girl was pretty regardless, C) spotlighted a "tomboy" who chose not to get a makeover for a boy, etc. So if Jugyeong can find her self-confident and still choose to use makeup, but then turn around and help someone else feel beautiful even if they don't fit society's standards the way Jugyeong herself does, then I'll still think it was a worthwhile endeavor. Monolids are one option (using her makeup talents to show someone how to accentuate them rather than use tape or get surgery), darker skin is another (someone comes in looking for brightening tips and she instead gives them the right shade of foundation), and of course weight is an issue I'd like to see tackled.
I honestly don’t like that they made her have an older brother instead of a younger brother because I was really…
I think that's a mistake on MDL's part. The articles about Kim Min Ki playing her brother say he debuted this year in the webdrama "The Temperature Of Language: Our Nineteen", so he's definitely younger.
I'm guessing this will have an open ending because the webtoon itself is not yet done. OR is webtoon soon to be…
No reason the drama can't make up its own different ending from the webtoon, so long as they bought the rights to do so from the author. And considering the fact that she's maintaining her distance from the adaptation so far, something tells me they did exactly that.
