Since my mind is super active on a night shift lemme explain why the first scene is not from future, but present.First…
yes...do ppl think....it isnt? oh man i was so confused i was like of coure isnt that obvious. it's probably bc of COVID or the next school year. it would make the most sense if it was 2021. many films/shows/etc also do put themselves in the place of a year ahead because they may not know when it comes out and/or what is happening in real life for events to change in the interim
I think it makes a lot of sense and also suits Teh's personality. This is also the part some people fail to understand…
i think people misunderstand toxicity with being a teenager (and a teenage boy in this one) and growing up. these are all normal things. it would e alarming if he continued to do so but if he's like 17 at most in the series, lives with his mom and older brother....none of them have had true life experiences. they haven't lived away from home, they lived in a small town, it seems as if their home lives aren't exactly turbulent. this is really just...normal. it's frustrating but in the context of 17 year olds who also live in a different society than some of us from the west (that doesnt mean it's better, just different, and probably a little "inherently" freer.)
i mean idk i remember being 17 but i also remember having a lot more going on and all the people that hurt me i'd say there's a big chance they've changed. i know i have. i think that is also kind of like...maybe why people view it as more fatalist than it is. if they stay together, if they get together, if they don't in 5 years time they'll look back and see how monumental it was for them then but when you grow up things just. matter less. get easier. you'll be ok.
Also something dawned on me now. There are these BKPP rumors about having been in a relationship, breaking up…
it woudl be cool—were that true—if they could still be friends and work together hOWEVER in the SHOW i will scream if they dont stay tiogether. ill die simply lmao
i think also about real life it could just be about everyones experiences abt love and growing up and stuff
i agree with you full stop. i'm not a huge fan of Life but the writer has made her mark. i like what you said…
thank you for replying! you're right abt mediocrity. i just watched an actor i literally could not stand do something i never thought he could so i am more optimistic now.
re: LIVE i had no idea people hated them. that's one of the first female characters who has been raped i've ever seen on a kdrama and they actually dealt with it. all of them had massive scars and the way she delved into those really personal relationships and dealt with women was incredible. plus the utilization of all the actors. i never would have thought that bae sung woo and bae jong ok's family would be one we would end up rooting for. it's a crazy good series.
i am going to finish it one day i swear! i love that era and the philosophy. i am against feudalism (obviously) and find the lasting effects of confucianism very damaging but what an insane era to be in and the history of that, into peasant rev, into occupation; some really great historical moments!
and lastly re: s3 you're right abt another reason for HSM to come back although i can see it as just ore shuffling and disregard for the careers of the prosecutors. of all the things the show manages to do that one is the least frustrating for me LOL

just looked it up. i love camus but i am hoping the writers will do justice to his work. i am not sure if they will lol. considering what he stood for and what his words and books mean i am worried that they won't. i'm not a big PSH fan but i will probably watch anything with CSW atp.
i hope he is in peace. all the clips i've seen he seems like such a force. it's awesome that it left such a lasting impression on you as a fan. that's the power of good art.
this is true but i do think writing-wise that there needs to be a follow up (this is a whole other essay.)
i don't love slice of life as much anymore but, like you, i am a fan of woo-jung and hee kyung. i am pretty much a staunch radical leftist so to get me to love a show about the police.... hee kyung's LIVE is one of my favorite shows ever. never seen something like it with korean television. a feat. and i probably feel that way about seo sook hyang but i just think her mind is fascinating.
started tree with deep roots but never finished but that point of history fascinates me lol

yes you know the one :)
csw is a force so of course. he's so different and it's amazing/ i love him.
RIP gandolfini! maybe i will watch it one day. his build and his face was made for the camera. shit. i wish i could have seen him in the role in "the night of"
i think s3 is imperative tbh but yea we must wait. ty for indulging in this talk!!!

nothing can compare to the wire in terms of history. all of them are their own pieces of work. i think OP is just talking about the idea of legacy television, you know? it is extremely korean and it is theirs and it is cultural. particularly for the wire it's such an american show about such a specific topic that wasn't introduced at first then sopranos is very much about class. i guess it's just what shows have a big mark on a culture or at least our impression of that culture. stranger for me is one of those TV shows.
i think op would agree with you btw and i do too! everything has its own merit. these are all fantastically written and acted shows though we are given a gift
ah shit i read something really really wrong and thought they announced it when they were just in talks. i feel so bad for commenting to everyone about it lol lemme amend that.

true re: life which was a good thing. for me i think there were a lot of cons with the casting as well (ok just one but it was a big one.) and i think she (lee so yeon) does well with serial formats now that we have gotten to know her in three works.
that's true i was just thinking about how BrBa went from something so personal to an overarching story. but that show (like the sopranos; the wire is a case in its own) did have to prove itself. (i never watched sopranos though i should since i'm a new jersey gal) because of budget and the channels they were on.
i think netflix took this on as its first joint project, correct? and it was the first preproduced drama for tvn and for netflix. i think that made all the difference and is what made me trust in them being pre-produced (also i think that's what made the cast and crew LIKE working.)
regardless, lee so yeon proves herself time and time again even with parts that i don't think necessarily succeed (life) but make you really question the quality of the crew and cast in a very very good way.
and same for me. it builds itself up to its own importance. there's just really amazing skill put into the show. this is one of those things where it's like,,,,you feel respected as an audience member and that matters
omg this was a really good drama. why is the mdl rating so bad? i would definitely recommend you give this a go.…
i think because it's a much more...metaphorical show that really leans into its strangeness. if people are into that wacky stuff they'd like this. i love it so much. there's going to be a s2
i mean idk i remember being 17 but i also remember having a lot more going on and all the people that hurt me i'd say there's a big chance they've changed. i know i have. i think that is also kind of like...maybe why people view it as more fatalist than it is. if they stay together, if they get together, if they don't in 5 years time they'll look back and see how monumental it was for them then but when you grow up things just. matter less. get easier. you'll be ok.

oh

was just reading about suicide and camus in sisyphus https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/camus/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThere%20is%20only%20one%20really%20serious%20philosophical%20problem%2C%E2%80%9D%20Camus,question%2C%E2%80%9D%20but%20an%20act. he's a pretty interesting figure in my life, i think he helped me live in a time where i didn't want to. it's going ot be interesting to see what htey do at aleast!
