Watched 250 dramas. Have seen heart fluttering scenes and romances countless times.but...Just one smile of this…
i have tried and failed. but its uniqueness helps us appreciate all the different types of dramas / art/ tv it really shaped my way of how i see other dramas in a good way.
i can't really think much but i can't beleive we have two more weeks left and when it's over we're all gonna be…
also: for all the criticism that isn't really constructive or conducive to the material at hand—more about how people wish FoS2 went and how it deviated from what they wanted whilst, i argue, missing the point of the first season in itself—most notable to me is that i can compare TONS of scenes to their counterpart from s1 and the necessity of s1 into the scenes in s2 to the pacing, the "coincidences", the reveals, the dialogue, the relationships and our prior knowledge. it's literally a mirror to it but executed with a more developed world. whether that was achieved or not in a likeable way is different but the differences are not so stark at all. more the differences in the similarities and how a world 3 years later and more mature creatively, in real life, and in this world deal with it...
i think criticism is necessary but i just don't think this type of criticism makes any sense and frankly it seems as if the material presented is totally forgotten with what s1 gave us and any enjoyment in deviation. since when are hsm and hyj pit against each other? why would they be the only 2 things for us to watch this show on? why wouldn't sdj's lack of presence be important and create a presence? the expectations created by the show were lived up to here and amplified. of course it is different but what exactly did the writers betray the viewers on? i have to go through this again as a work on its own and also as a work in conjunction with s1 because i just cannot seem to understand it. my interpretation of course could eb wholly different. on the other hand, the fact that we are relying on s1 so heavily to enjoy this season seems so dissatisfying. it woudl be different if certain things didn't work—we can argue that—but how could it consistently be only about s1 when this is still something that is presented. what would have made s2 worthwhile to others? at this point think of it as a wholly different show then (which i argue you CAN'T bc we know the histories); how does it stand to you?
i can't really think much but i can't beleive we have two more weeks left and when it's over we're all gonna be able to go back and rewatch in totality and it's gonna be nuts. already though i am happy and satisfied. i feel like something is missing not knwing the whole, but i feel like the differences and the similarities within the show are really telling us what we need to know on an emotional and philosophical level.
i am just pleased. i am pleased and sad this is here but it will be over. i like it more than s1 but perhaps bc i've seen s1 so many times. but i feel as if i just got immersed this time around in a way i didn't in s1. i am happy we get to see all these people. and i cant wait until we know it all. this show has given me such pleasure since it's conceptionn and i thank everyone. it's clear how much this show means to the crew and that labor of love is evident. what a ride.
the payoff of the staircase scene is in their seperation. having them grow as seperate people but be able to trust each other and come together. the staircase scene is a direct callback to the beach scene. and i say this every week but the word of FoS never deviates from the paramaters they set up in s1. the target is different and the focus is broader and focused on the ensemble but it then goes back to how hwang si mok and han yeo jin will operate with their surroundings. the goal of the crew was to do something new but also acknowledge the foundation which is something that should be done if shows want a continuation. it didn't stagnate, it matured, and with maturity becomes a broader understanding of the world. the show's murky and vague and i could critique that but i also realized there's some editing beats they got SO much better this time around, too.
and we know the significance of every word and action. we may have missed that the first time in s1 but we know we have to pick up on it now. especially grateful for as much as i don't understand hanjo's involvement that the lee family and chang jun are integral to this story; for better or for worse. and this episode shows choi bit and wth being opposite hsm and hyj in the most interesting ways. they're more world-weary and mature but at their expense. anywayssss i'm HAPPY
I understand the people praising this and indeed its a solid production, still I can't help feeling a bit disappointed.…
but (IMO, i dont THINK since i must clarify on everything ever or it's me being rude) that's not what this show was originally about and they didn't want that. it's always been an ensemble show and i think the way hsm and hyj work in the world surrounded by adversaries or people who don't get them in a broader context is wonderful!
as usual love it. there's really no complaints i have and if i do they are minimal. the pacing, the setting, the tone, the interweaving of s1, and, most importantly, the writing. the show excels because of the words and the way they're reinforced within the setting, editing, acting. literally every word counts.
the reason why i liked s1 the first time i saw it and thought it was interesting but didn't really think about it super deeply is because i didn't realize how imperative the dialogue to this show is. it's laden with political and social connotations and the idea of connection. also the beginning connection to a literal accident and what's happening with the bridge will be heavy.
keep saying this....s1 is so important to s2's existence not just in a literal way it is within the conversations these people have. so, like life, they dont ignore this huge piece of trauma and life changing history. and s1 is IN s2, like idk DNA or some shit. that's the element of truth to life i find in the show and the emotional intelligence i believe to be portrayed within the dialogue. our quest for why is what propels us every week but the journey there is why we continue to look, absorb, rewind, go back, feel excitement, highs, and lows. what's that one quote...it's not the destination...ahhaha
For reason im kinda surprised that Choi Bit is a mother. I found myself wondering if her and Woo Tae Ha were romantically…
I SWEAR THEY HAD SOMETHIN ;) i def think she will. i mean i think hyj already is but i would be starstruck too in a way (if i would ever be a cop which i wouldnt) also her boss from last time (i forgot his name lmao the one at yongsan) he disappointed her so much but the good part of her is her ability to just try and do better. i really respect that about her
The eternal debate "If 1st season is better than the 2nd one" is still open as I see . For my part both are good…
i was thinking: could we say that s2 is a season as we know it in the western term? i don't really know what people want but if i think about breaking bad the differences in seasons (well 1 from the rest) are stark but each having their own merit. it's a continuation and s1 was its own grounding point..ironically kinda reminds me of this british cop show that's so fucking weird (i forgot the name) it's a series but they approach the themes differently with one overarching power....wtf is this show called
the most frustrating part for me is not letting this season stand both as a part of the show but also as it's own piece of work where the creators have evolved. a mark of any artist...whether they execute it well or not isn't mutually exclusive to how good s1 was but it doesn't rely on it as one seems to think. also flaws are impossible to dodge, we all have diff opinions, but our negative opinions or gripes shouldn't be borne from how much better something already is. it's passed and done and we have this now. it's like hearing a new album from an artist you love, seeing a new film, etc and lord knows that means being open to change—this goes with series as well especially bc the korean format is different. and i love arguments (not in a mean way) but like exchanging information but i dont think people who are here to complain about it without engagement love that. so it makes us figuring out why they wouldnt like the show harder and more annoying.
anywayS first of all what about WTH and CB..... (eyes emoji) i was thinkig kidnapper was the boy but it's a big dude. i also think the prosecutor is def entertwined. remember in the early eps when he waved at her and she bows while they walk away but she looks back. also why did hsm look at her like that after she talks about war + peace and what is the significance~
oh and re the last part some of my fav people just couldn't connect w/ s1 and it made me sad cos i love it so much but i really get it. this show honestly isn't for everyone, i'm surprised there's not more dissent (well im not this website is brutal) but explaining the issues they had with it or why it was just extremely difficult to engage. i think one common thing is the emotional hole they may feel. also first 4 eps are ZZZZZ out of context lmao
